This was my first time at SOS in a looooong time. Me and my wife came after dinner, as this wasn't too far of a walk from dinner. It was a Friday night, so it was pretty packed when we first got there. We put our names down, and then grabbed a drink at the bar. There was outdoor seating that was available, so we grabbed a seat. We were then notified that our table was ready. It wasn't even 20 minutes, so this was great. The host took us to two seats at the bar. SOS is such a cool island type of vibe. They have so many different tiki cocktails that you can choose from. They are mostly made of rum, but they have a few other ones that are made with different alcohols. Me and my wife both got our own drinks. Hers was a special Valentine's Day themed drink that was on the menu, and mine was one of the tequila/mezcal tiki drinks. Both tasted really good! The presentation was just as good too! You aren't limited to these though, it's a full bar, so you can get whatever you want. They also have a few food options, but very limited. Our bartender, Heather, was super nice as well. My wife had asked (when I went to the restroom) if they did anything for birthdays, since my birthday was a few days prior. She did this cool fire presentation and gave us two little slushie shots. Awesome bartender for sure! SOS is a great place to go for some really fun drinks. Was in Decatur and had Dinner down the street so decided to end the night at SOS! I'll start by saying this is such a solid tiki bar. All the drinks were very fun and taste great and range from smooth to STRONG. The attention to detail put into crafting the drinks is very admirable. I can guarantee your drink will look exactly like how it's depicted on the menu. If only I could remember the names of all the drinks I tried....oh well. This is not a spot for a solo trip. Parking is a little confusing. I parked on the street. I tried to use the meter but it wouldn't accept the time I selected. Then realized it's free. Well it would be good to note that on the weekends parking is complimentary. If I get a ticket in the mail I am going to be highly irritated. It is sandwiched in between a couple spots. So look carefully. Then the same says wait for the hostess. Well that took a minute. So I just walked in, cuz she I'm solo dolo and I planned to plant myself at the bar and make friends. The bar, the chairs inside and outside are full. The trick is you can order a drink and go around the corner and sit at the sandwich shop and drink. That's not what I wanted to do. I wanted food. Come to find out they update their menu. And right now they only have two food items on the menu. It is a full drink menu. Such a fun bar!! I came here for drinks after dinner with a friend. I love how it's tucked away and then just opens up into the coolest little tropical oasis inside. We had to wait about 30 min for a seat at the bar (even on a Thursday night just fyi!) but we were able to sign up for text notifications and we just ended up having a drink next door at Victory Sandwich Bar which connects very nicely. Once seated at the bar, our bartender was super nice with recommendations and really made preparing the drinks very fun! I got the pirate republic which had a black pepper infused rum and was described to me as "lemon pepper wings in drink form" which is as ATL as it gets lol so it was a must try! This tiki bar is located in a booming entertainment/shopping district. There is some grossly overpriced commercial lots nearby and metered street parking available as well. I opted to go with the street parking, which was free after 6 or 7PM which was an extra bonus. The bar is small and has very minimal seating. There is seating at the bar, a small amount of tables inside and a few tables in the narrow alleyway outside of the bar. Be prepared to wait to be seated, especially on weekends. You have to be put on a list for all seating, including bar seating. I waited an hour before I got in. They do allow you to go in while you are waiting and go to the bar and get drinks while you are on the waitlist. The bar is dimly lit and has all types of music playing such as classic R&B, hip hop and island music. When you are put on the waitlist, they take your cell phone number and send you a text when your table is ready. They say that there is a 2-hour time limit once you are in, but I do not think they enforce that too tightly as there were a few people that were there well past that time. The bar offers your favorite tropical adult beverages including Mai Tai, Run Punch, Hurricane, Zombie, and frozen Pain Killer, which was my favorite. They have a fun drinks that include a fire show as part of its presentation. The staff there is very friendly and they keep very busy. The drinks were pretty stiff and very savory. Cool spot! We have tried coming here several times but the wait is always so long. We tried around 9 pm on a Saturday night for a party of five and lucked out with a table inside. We only ordered drinks so can't comment on the food. But enjoyed the Hawaiian vibes! You can only sit at a table for 90 minutes but since it's relatively small that really helps to get more people through the door. You can't make reservations but if you leave your name and number with the host(ess) you can receive a text when a table becomes open, and you have five minutes to make it before you lose your spot. read more

So just happen to be in the area and I wanted to stop in for a little bit. The place was pretty packed so I wasn't surprised that there was a wait. They said that it could be 60 to 90 minutes until we get availability. Which was okay because in that area there's a lot to walk around and do. So after the walking in about an hour and a half later, I head back in that direction. It looks like they had an opening but it didn't show up until I step back up to the podium and ask about how long it was going to be. We went in there and they were actually some seats left so I wasn't sure about what the holdup was and why it had to be over an hour and a half ( I checked to make sure they had the correct number so I wasn't sure why they didn't call me, but that wasn't the end of the world) . But after we got seated it was okay, the drinks are predominantly rum based. They had some Gin and some other types as well. But it is very islandy and a lot of different fruits and eccentric flavors. If you're in there some different types of rum drinks and this is definitely your spot! The decor is really nice as well. It's definitely a lot of Tiki's in other Island themed decorations laying around and it gives it a really cool look. The Establishment itself is pretty dim, I guess it could be kind of intimate or whatever you want to call it, but it's a really good low-key kind of vibe. I ordered the rumble fashion. We were able to get drinks at the bar and wait in the lounge (between SOS and Victory) until seats were available. We waited maybe 30-40 min for seats to be available. We came to SOS Tiki Bar for my husband's birthday and had an absolutely amazing time. The drinks were delicious, beautiful, and full of thoughtful details. We sat at the bar, which I would definitely recommend- it was very entertaining to watch the bartenders make these complicated drinks, and the shelves themselves are full of fun decorations. My husband had the Mai Tai and another I'm based drinks; he enjoyed them both, and one even came with pyrotechnics! Once he started asking the bartender about funky tiki flavors, he was invited to try a few outstanding rums. They didn't have reservations, so we put our names on the wait list. We had to wait a long time- almost an hour- but it was worth it! There are only a handful of tables in the whole place, and you have to 90 minute time limit on your seats. SOS Tiki Bar is one of my favorite places in Decatur. I'm a huge fan of tiki cocktails and they have some of the best. I always sit at the bar and the bartenders provide great service and are highly skilled. It's very intimate and doesn't have much seating, so I usually avoid going on weekends. They always have great pop-up restaurants that serve delicious food. I recently attended a rum tasting event and the food was provided by Mother's Best. The drinks have a stiff breeze of fruit and small-batch syrups to smooth the seas of the strong spirits. Their garnish game is a worthy offering to the bartending gods. It's genuinely upscale without all the flash of typical Tiki theming, but the tropical vibe is there like a subtle breeze that calls you back. Since we visited in the late 2010s, they have added a nice pupu menu that keeps your feet on deck. After confirming that we would stand at the bar to order drinks we had 3 workers come up to us multiple time letting us know we could not sit at the bar even though no one in or party ever sat at the bar chairs. The workers were hyper focused on reserved bar chairs that they were ultimately unhelpful. No one informed us of a Que to order at the bar but were informed several times of reserved bar chairs we were not sitting at. It felt very off putting when we were all well aware of the seating. The drinks at SOS tiki bar are just SO good. We ordered three (!) virgin pina coladas, one mai tai and one bartender's choice (a blend of coconut and pineapple, but not pina colada). There's no host, so just walk in. There's a little outdoor area and about 6 tables inside with a bar area. Service was phenomenal. Our barista made the drinks look so crafty, but they also tasted so good! The Mai Tai has flames/fire decor (?), but it was a little strong. Little hidden spot attached to Victory Sandwich Bar...and I mean little. Be prepared to wait for to get your name on the list for their holiday bar, then a wait to be sat. Ours was around 2.5 hours total until we could sit down. Great vibes and nice staff. Drinks were disgusting. I get it's tiki but most were so alcohol forward that they were undrinkable. The table next to us has the same comments (and faces). Such a disappointment after the wait and with SO many gold cocktail spots in Decatur. I like the emphasis on classic tiki drinks, which are well-prepared, served in traditional glassware, and nicely garnished. The menu gives a brief historical note for each drink. There is also an extensive Rum list. The food is less impressive than the drinks. I suggest sticking with the Cauliflower Bang Bang appetizer, and having dinner elsewhere. Do I recommend the SOS Tiki Bar? 1,000% yes! SOS is a favorite of mine and friends in Decatur. It is located along the right side of Victory Sandwich Bar. There is always a wait, but it is well worth it. Tables have a 90 minute policy which is plenty of time as their service is extremely efficient. Pro tip: We like to arrive about 15-20 mins before opening in order to get one of the first seats without a wait. People often call certain food "comfort food". I call the Mai Tai and Pain Killer at SOS my "comfort drinks". They are a couple of the best drinks in and around Atlanta. Honestly, any of the drinks on the menu are fantastic. I've never had one I didn't like. The staff is truly the best! Every visit, they are easy to talk to and help choose the right drink or food, especially for first timers. They know the items on the menu very well. SOS has seating both inside and out. Inside is quite charming and intimate with a handful of large wrap-around booths and a row of bar seats. This Tiki bar has become our most beloved haunt in the area. The drinks are phenomenal and the food is really really good, every time. I'm writing this review because of the cheeseburger dumplings. I've loved every drink and every dumpling I've gotten here, but never have I been so surprised at HOW much I liked something here. 10/10, cheeseburger dumplings. Would recommend. This review is primarily for the Sweet E's pop-up restaurant that was temporarily located inside of S.O.S. Tiki Bar. I wanted to check out Sweet E's as they serve Caribbean-style BBQ and Seafood. Food/drink: Ordered the Whole Fish (chose fried vs steamed), Smoked YardBird, and the Crawfish and Conch Ceviche to eat and the Punch of the Day (made by S.O.S. Tiki Bar) to drink. The fried Whole Fish was amazing! It was seasoned well and fried to perfection, giving it a nice crispy exterior with juicy and flaky meat on the inside. The Smoked YardBird was also very good and had that smokiness and flavor I like and expect from my Jerk Chicken. It was also half of a chicken so, that was a nice portion. Both entreés were served with rice and peas and cabbage, and the rice and peas were delicious. The Crawfish and Conch Ceviche was a good appetizer and the seafood tasted fresh. I also enjoyed my glass of the Punch of the Day. Service: As expected, service was the usual S.O.S. Tiki Bar staff. Sat at the bar and the bartender was pleasant enough. I was so excited to be one of the first to review SOS Tiki Bar when it first opened. I was a little disappointed at the time because the drinks all tasted just a little off, ratios wise. However, since I wanted to check out Eat Me Speak Me, I figured I would give the SOS Tiki Bar another shot. The menu was pretty much the same from the first time I came here, aside from the addition of food being served by local pop-ups, such as Eat Me Speak Me. I ordered a Singapore Sling, which had my liquor of choice, gin. It was a perfect combination without the odd flavors I had tasted in my tiki drinks my first time here years ago. Glad to see the balance is finally there in the drinks! You can get different sized drinks, from a single drink to a 2-4 person sized "bowl" to the largest $100 punch bowl. Not all the drinks come in such a large portion size, but many of the popular drinks do. Since we wanted to try different drinks, we went with the individual sized servings lol. Some drinks are more insta-worthy than others. Who can turn down FIRE in their drinks? It's a lot of fun, especially in the dim lighting. So cool! Overall, this place gets packed but the hype is real.
