I ordered the jerk chicken, and they served a generous, well-seasoned chicken breast that was incredibly tender and full of flavor. The rice and beans were delicious, the black beans were a great addition, and the plantains were cooked perfectly. The prices are very reasonable, and they also offer a military discount, which makes the value even better. Nice on the inside. Like the decorations. The food was excellent. Honestly, the best Cobb salad and queso with chips I've had in a long time. The shrimp fritters were also a standout. Plantains were amazing! Ashley, my server, was 100 and provided great energy and service throughout the experience. ...didn't have an entree because the spot was approaching close. The space felt authentically Jamaican, which added to the vibe. No oxtails available though, so just be prepared for that. Also, it was my server's first week, so give a little grace and patience with timing. The drinks were amazing. I am so excited to write this review! I have lots of food allergies so do a vegan base and throw in seafood. My cousin is a true carnivore. I chose Wylie and Rum because they have vegan and vegetarian options. Wow were we impressed! The mood in the restaurant is vibrant and tropical with great music playing. Parking sucks! No one answered the phone to bring it to me but when I walked in it was empty and they had my food waiting at the bar. Smell is amazing and the flavor is out of this world! Soo good! It's a little spicy for me but I don't care! The mango tango juice was scrumptious! The first sip made me do the smack smack with my mouth I had to savor the flavor. I think it has ginger in it if I'm not mistaken. The jerk seasoning on the chicken is amazing! They give you big pieces of plantains too. Perfect! We had to come into the city today and stopped at Wylie & Rum for lunch. As soon as you walk in it feels like you're on a Caribbean vacation, which is always a plus. We were seated quickly and grabbed a rum punch and waters being from the Caribbean we had to see what it was hitting for, and it was flavorful without being too strong. The menu is a great mix of Caribbean and Latin flavors. My son had empanadas and fries, my wife ordered the snapper with yellow rice and plantains, and I got the jerk chicken sandwich on pressed Cuban bread. The snapper was amazing perfectly seasoned and flaky, honestly one of the best we've had. My sandwich was everything I hoped for: crispy bread, juicy chicken, and just the right amount of heat. Dessert sealed the deal. As a bread pudding connoisseur, the pineapple upside-down bread pudding is the best I've ever had so good I drove back the next day to get more. My wife loves key lime pie and said hers was excellent, finished it in one sitting lol. This spot is right on Moreland on the corner! Real cute scene with outdoor seating, music jammin, with a bar for the drankers! The service was good! No complaints there although i ordered to-go. Now this food! I ate it all, because I paid for it, but I've had better jerk. I felt the chicken was over cooked. I can't really describe it other than it just wasn't hitn like I thought it should. First of all, the place is COLORFUL...I mean REALLY colorful. You definitely feel "transported" to an island while you're there. I was immediately greeted with a warm smile and asked if I'd like to be seated. I went over to the bar. Mya was my server and let me tell you. THAT woman makes a MEAN Moscow mule!! A couple of times I've been here the service was slow but the other times the service has been fine. My shrimp fritters had a good spicy kick to them that paired perfectly with the tartare sauce. I usually like my grits clumpy but these grits had so much flavor that got better with every scoop . So I did a thing and came here today for brunch with my friend and I'm so glad I came to this place because the food was amazing! And the staff was also excellent! They were very accommodating and just kind & nice people in general. We sat outside and it was wonderful because the outdoor seating area is covered so you don't have to worry about the sun beating down on you. I had the Cap-Haitian special and my friend had the Big ass brunch burrito and I definitely would recommend both of them. The butter that comes on the waffles with the Cap Haitian special is going to have you want to just dip your fingers in it. This place has been on the list for awhile now. Everything was great from the ambience, vibes, service and decor. Our host was adorable and watching other servers, I can see that they love what they do. The food was very yummy, well seasoned and came with the right condiments to enhance the dishes. The drinks were so tasty, I really enjoyed the Rum Punch. We sat inside but there is al fresco dining available. There's music and tvs all around but not so loud that we couldn't enjoy a conversation. There is parking but it can get a little tight sharing a medium sized lot with other restaurants including Nothing Bundt Cake. Our server Lina was to die for. She made sure to introduce herself to us both, made great recommendations, was super attentive and just had the most vibrant personality. If you want something with jerk seasoning, then you should come here! The service is fantastic inside or on their patio, and they are super fast if you want the food to go. If you want to drink, know that their cocktails are usually sweet but tasty. We have Dunn Street, so this is now one of our usual places to get food. There are parking spaces, so you have a spot if you need it. We usually have a plate and jerk wings, but this last time, we got the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp, which was terrific. It will be hard not to get it next time we order. I will always get your wings because they're just that good. I never used the jam that goes with the wings, but it is tasty. Our server, Willis went above and beyond and we'll be repeat customers because of his act. We were starving coming in and were expecting quick service. We were seated right away, but our server was also the bartender. We both ordered drinks - mojito and rum punch and shrimp fritters as starters. You can tell the fritters were homemade because they were all mismatched in size. They were very flavorful with a bit of a spicy kick but can be tamed with the sauce it was served with. Now I'm glad we ordered a starter because our entree took awhile to come. I ordered the island vegetarian plate and my husband the jerk snapper. I wished that someone checked in on us while waiting for our food or at least told us about the wait. It seemed like they got some to go orders, plus we came in a lull because there were only a few workers by the time we were waiting. Thank goodness the food was worth the wait. Everything from the rice to the beans to the vegan empanadas were tasty. The empanadas were fried perfectly and had a sweet taste - probably from the jackfruit. The beans, rice and plantain is the trifecta you'd want to eat everyday. The corn with cotija was a nice added touch. It was a lot of food and could finish half of it, so the other half will be my lunch leftovers for tomorrow! The ambiance felt casual and beach-y. Parking lot is small but street parking is available. Since we did wait awhile for our food, our server comped both of our drinks which he totally didn't need to do, but he went above and beyond so now we'll frequent this place. I was excited about Wylie and Rum all week, I drove by it one day casually and added it to my list of restaurants to try in Atlanta. I'm happy to say that today, I crossed it off the list. I had no clue it was a Caribbean restaurant and was delighted to see the menu filled with different Caribbean dishes. The place is huge with plenty of seats, and it definitely gives an island feel on the inside from the color scheme to the music they play.  You have a choice of dining inside or outside or by the bar. Like I said earlier, plenty of space they must get really busy on certain days. Our server was Thomas, and he was very accommodating.  Told us the happy hour specials were only at the bar and did not make it a big deal when I asked to be moved because of bad lighting, lol. I always appreciate a server that is knowledgeable and can give me insight into the dishes, and Thomas knew his stuff. Now for the food, I think the food was a bit underwhelming.  It might be the expectations I had for it being a Carribean place, and I had been craving rasta pasta, so that is what I had.  It was lacking a little in the flavor department, but not to say the mean was not good, it is just not the best I ever had.  I attest that to being from New York and having a lot of Carribean food. I forgot to mention the shrimp fritters as well, we had that as an appetizer, and I enjoyed those too, but again, there was something bland to it, and I can not put my finger on it. They had a wide variety of hot sauces at our disposal, which helped and was greatly appreciated. There are other things on the menu I would love to try. We went here for our anniversary dinner because we wanted something lowkey but still fun. Our server, September, was phenomenal and had such a vibrant personality! Our food was incredible as well. I ordered the Tiki Salmon and he had the Jerk Chicken plate. The shrimp fritter appetizer came with this amazing sauce (can't remember what was in it) but I put a lid on it to take home because it was so good. We were too full for dessert but we left satisfied. The parking was a little confusing to figure out at night (mostly one-ways) so we parked in the back. We came on a Saturday morning for brunch, it wasn't crowded and there was ample parking. This establishment does share a space with a few other businesses, but it was early so parking was not an issue. Service was excellent, and the rum punch was very refreshing and had a very nice presentation. The waiter/bartender was very attentive and accommodating. Loved the vibe, including the music. Don't walk, RUN! Wow, this fantastic place is just a couple minutes from our house. The hubby and I typically go for hole in the wall Jamaican places but Wylie & Rum was incredible. We forgot how big brunch is on the weekends in ATL so not sure what all their regular menu has to offer considering we went on a Saturday at noon. We started off with the rum punch pitcher, we had so many glasses from that one pitcher. The drink was definitely giving island vibes and super delicious. Generously filled empanadas with nicely seasoned beef and a crispy exterior. Would definitely order again! Service was super friendly but kinda slow with bringing out the appetizer with their not being many people in there eating. We ordered an appetizer immediately hoping it'd come out before our main course but it didn't. We ordered the Famous Guava BBQ Ribs half rack. The ribs were tender and the sauce was sweet and tangy.
