I heard some coworkers talking about this restaurant so when we wanted Mexican the other week this restaurant popped up in my yelp search and we decided to try it. We missed the parking lot but street parking wasn't bad. It's not a big place. We weren't sure if we were to seat ourselves or wait for someone to seat us. My boyfriend waited in the back at the pick up table for a few minutes before someone assisted. Still not sure what you do but we sat at a booth in the front. They have a decent amount of tables out front (outside) as well. The food was great. They do serve the street corn hot. Like really hot (temperature) so be careful. I've never had it like that before so next time I'll have to wait a bit before I eat it. I got a beef chimichanga and I'm not sure what the name was of the platter my boyfriend got but he loved it! what a gem! I never ever crave Mexican cuisine but today it finally happened and Juanitas exceeded my expectations. We ordered through grub hub and it came within 40 minutes. I ordered an al pastor burrito, 3 tacos and chips and guacamole. This burrito is going to be my go to moving forward! The burrito was flavorful and the meat was cooked perfectly. I appreciated all the sauces and the cheese sides because I love to layer all of them on after each bite. The rice itself is also so good! My husband got the fish taco, shrimp and al pastor and he said all of them were tasty but al pastor was his favorite. The chips were also so tasty and made at the restaurant you could tell. Wow! Best Mexican food I've had in a longgggg time! Let me start by saying I grew up in Arizona and there are some great Mexican food places out there. There's only one place in AZ that I've been to that even compares to Juanita's! Everything is homemade: the horchata (delicious), iced tea (delicious but slightly too sweet for my taste), the salsa (2 delicious/mild salsas for the table), homemade chips, etc. We tried the tamales (chicken and pork) for the appetizer. Delicious! My other half had the chicken tacos and I had beef and chicken enchiladas. The paintings on the wall are all painted by their family which I love. After I glanced at the menu, everything looked great. But guess what? It's Taco Tuesday, so I had a taste for tacos! They had different choices of meat for the tacos and the fish and shrimp tacos are actually not displayed on the MENU. Secret menu vibes lol I ordered 2 chicken tacos and a shrimp one. Juanitas again with the win! I have never had breakfast here and this morning my family decided to give it a shot. I have the huevos with avocado and pico de gallo. It was delicious! I wish I wasn't so hungry so I could savor the flavors more but it was so delicious. The eggs were cooked nicely and I love their fresh pico and salsa. Last minute decision to dine at this local place recommended to me by a dear friend many years ago. 'You shouldn't miss this place, it's authentic Mexican food and flavors!' I wish I wouldn't gone earlier! I have some food allergies and they were able to accommodate me--my husband was in heaven enjoying his meal of an eggs with vegetables burrito! Stopped in on a Saturday evening just after 7pm, and we were surprised to see that there was no wait and that they were not very crowded. We self-seated ourselves and were brought our menus and waters very quickly, and we also sipped on some of the beer we brought since it's BYOB here. The complementary chips and salsa were very yummy, and the chips came topped with a little refried beans and cheese. We added some of the table hot sauce to the salsa to turn up the heat a bit and they were super tasty! I ordered the enchiladas with red sauce, and asked for no meat, lettuce, or sour cream. I did ask for a side of rice and beans (not included, unfortunately) and some jalapeños to put on top of the enchiladas. The rice and beans were standard, and the enchiladas were very good. I've eaten at enough authentic Mexican places to know that the cheese they use is more mild than ours, and the enchilada sauce flavor is a bit different. Although I don't prefer it all of the time to the Americanized flavors, I can appreciate it and enjoy it for sure. My fiancé ordered the beef burrito, which he says he enjoyed, although he did leave a little bit hungry still. I'll give Juanita's the full five stars because everything came quickly, exactly as ordered, hot and tasty. Juanita's has very good, very authentic tasting Mexican. It's a small restaurant which is nice and for a Saturday night it was quite empty. It's street parking with a small lot very close. There were plenty of easy spots close by including right in front of the restaurant. To start they bring out chips and salsa for free (not sure if endless). They are covered in refried beans and crumbled cheese. Pretty good, but no toppings would have been preferred. Two salsas, a green and red. I ordered the beef burrito which was very good. It had a lot of beef in it and was cooked just right. The portion was good, but lack of a side left something to be desired. Sides don't come with the entrees, they are extra. No complaints on taste and the service was fast and friendly. My fiance ordered cheese enchiladas and enjoyed them very much. She did mention the cheese was milder than usual, since it was more authentic than other Mexican restaurants. She also wanted jalapenos and was brought a whole, split cooked jalapeno. I've never seen that before, but it was cool. They do have a wide variety of drinks including milkshakes. We didn't order one, but if we ever go back I'd like to try one. No alcohol, but BYOB so we enjoyed a few beers we brought with dinner. Also for Pokemon Go players you can catch and spin a stop while your there, as one is within reach of the restaurant. 4 stars because I left a little hungry even having ordered an entree. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back, but if in the area it would be one of the first places I think to go for dinner. read more

While visiting from California (in New Jersey for work), we were persuaded to stop in to Juanita's Mexican Cuisine for lunch. Now, I've lived on the East Coast for a couple of years (Connecticut) and to this day have not found a Mexican restaurant worth a beans (see what I did there), so I really wasn't expecting anything exciting. Popped on in and sat down. It was lunch time so it was quite the bustling establishment, but was quickly greeted - chips and salsa was the first thing to hit the table. Chips were the super crunchy kind, covered in a light bean sauce and crumble cheese. I actually like them this way so I felt things were off to a good start. Red salsa was mild and a little watery, but still good. Green sauce - a bit spicier but not so much that I wouldn't dip again. Or again. Or again. Not a green sauce person normally but, well, the bowl was empty when we left. For the entree, I decided to venture outside my comfort zone of burritos and tacos and order the Ranchero Platter - chorizo and steak surrounded with veggies, guacamole, onions and pico. OMG. The flavor in the surrounding components was absolutely epic - so tasty I devoured that before moving on the actual main parts of the platter. Chorizo was also extremely good, however it might be a bit spicy for some (not this guy though). Steak was also quite good, but if I had to remove points for something, this would be it. Not that it wasn't good, it was just trounced in flavor by the rest of the dish. So why not 5 stars. Well, I did notice that there was only one person taking orders, serving food and cleaning tables. Our table received excellent service, however I did witness someone come in, look around and notice all but two tables available, then walk out. Unfortunately all the available tables were still dirty from the lunch rush, and there were that way for about half the time we were there. So, yeah. When we first walked in, we were not greeted and all of the workers were sitting at a table together. I was a little annoyed that they didn't acknowledge us so we stood there for a few minutes trying to figure out if we were supposed to Seat ourselves or if we were supposed to wait. One of the workers finally came up and sat down and gave us menus. They have a huge menu with a wide variety of food to pick from. PROS: The food at Juanita's is fresh, authentic, and most important- delicious! Add to that, the pricing is better than most restaurants (very confused by the price jab of reviewer Donna S). I love their gorditas and pastor tacos! My husband has tried nearly everything on the menu and always walks out satisfied. CONS: It's not a hip city eatery. It's a hole in the wall joint that locals love. The wait staff is limited to 1 or 2 people, you might have to seat yourself, and there could be some wait time before your server visits your table. Juanita's doesn't have a lot of square footage, maybe 8 or 9 tables inside, 5 outside. It is definitely worth checking out. read more

Juanita's is a mom-and-pop place in Riverton. Everything here is made from scratch, and the food is definitely worth it. I spent 1 hour at this location, which was fairly busy (half of the inside area of the restaurant and all of the patio portion were full). Fresh tortillas with green and red salsa are brought out very quickly after you enter. They have a good selection of different Mexican dishes, and the chef was nice enough to make our entrees with veggies instead of the standard chicken/steak/chorizo. I had a veggie burrito, and my husband had the chile relleño with a mole enchilada. We tend to each order something different and then split our meals (since variety is the spice of life after all), and tonight was no different. My burrito was very good. It was stuffed with different types of veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, peppers, and onions), queso fresco, rice, and a bit of sour cream. Pico de gallo and lettuce with additional queso fresco were served on the side. I liked the burrito, and didn't feel stuffed/uncomfortable, which is typical for me after eating a burrito. The chile relleño was the best that I have ever tasted. The sauce was sweet and savory, the batter in which it was coated was excellent, and the pepper had a bit of a kick (as opposed to the bland ones you get at chain restaurants). The mole enchilada was very good- the mole was rich and flavorful. We split the tres leches cake for dessert, which was so delicious. Tres leches, done properly, is one of my favorite cakes, and Juanita's did not disappoint. My husband and I will definitely be back. The waitresses were constantly running around, and my food was fresh, hot, and homemade. If you are in a rush, they have a takeout service, but if you are looking to get in and out in under 30-45 minutes, then this is not the place for you.
