Service: it was good, waitress was very nice and was quick with refills and the bill Food: there was a lot of options for food, I ended up getting the Guinness Chicken which came with bread and two sides, I got onion rings and a Caesar salad. All for $14 which is a really good deal. The chicken was some of the best chicken I've had ever, it was drenched in their bbq sauce which I love, the Caesar was a good portion size and onion rings were crisp. Rolled in for a late dinner on a Tuesday night and the place was pretty dead. Couldn't figure out why they had a DJ and why the DJ was only playing, like, 30 seconds of songs that were all over the map. Then I saw the sign that said it was music bingo night. Ha. Anyway, I ordered a large beer and a 10 piece wings. Both were very reasonably priced and our server let me choose two sauces for my wings, Mango Habanero and Boom Boom. The wings were very good. I was there on a Sunday afternoon for a trivia tournament. For as big as the place is, the parking was barely adequate. Every time anyone opened the door (which was often), a cold blast of air came in, so we had to keep our coats on. The menu is extensive. If you can't find something you like, you're not trying. I had the corned beef and cabbage which was roasted instead of boiled. I would have like more roasted carrots as they were yummy. Service was adequate--neither great nor terrible. read more

Out of that too. Ok. I'm going outside to look at the sign. We just had a couple bottles of beer in the end. As we sat there, we watched several people walk in and back out after finding out what they wanted was out. Again, they were new, so we forgave and gave them another try. The second time we went, the beer was all in stock. Cool! We like that. We sat at the bar that wasn't very crowded. The bartender was inattentive and we struggled to get him to notice when we were in need of another beer, so we left. Hopefully, they get things together. We are only in Lansing for the weekend and wanted something other than burgers or pizza. I ordered the beef pot pie over mashed potatoes and my husband ordered the shillelagh sandwich. My Lansing Westside neighborhood roots run deep. I attended Verlinden Elementary and Sexton High School with a 3 year stop for middle school at Otto on the North side. My mother and her family were displaced from St. Joe St. during the 496 project when she was in grade school and settled just blocks from Sexton. My much better half grew up in the Old Oakland neighborhood and much of both of our families still reside in the area. Both of us have many memories of the old Irish Pub, all the way back to when Brian Riley was the owner back in the mid 90s. Later, when we first got married, our first home was but two blocks from the Irish Pub and we'd venture over for lunch, to celebrate St. Paddy's Day, or to attend fundraiser dinners. Sadly, the Irish Pub went dark in 2013, and many Westside neighbors waited for over a decade to see the corner of Saginaw and Verlinden come back to life. The new owners have completely renovated the interior, brining a new floor plan and updated aesthetic that pushes well beyond just a new coat of paint. The centralized bar offers open sightlines throughout the pub with a separate entrance and counter for takeout orders. The most popular addition to the new iteration is the expansive outdoor space which welcomed customers throughout the summer. My first visit was on an early Sunday evening when the Lions weren't playing, and the bar staff said that it was clearly impacting how busy they were. The second visit was on a random Tuesday night and the parking lot was packed, and most tables were occupied as was the majority of the rail around the bar. The Irish Pub has some of the friendliest, attentive barkeepers I've encountered of late and the rest of the waitstaff seemed to be hustling around with smiles and cheerful greetings for all. What's Good: The Jalive Burger ($14) turns up the heat on the local legend. A nicely cooked beef patty is topped with a housemade olive and jalapeno sauce, with white cheddar, lettuce, and tomato. The sauce definitely had a kick, I can't remember the last time my mouth was this hot. The olive sauce itself was flavorful, but my burger came with a large chunk of raw jalapeno that I certainly wasn't prepared for. The accompanying onions rings were large and crisp, but not among my favorites around the area. The Meat-Lover's Pizza ($18.50) was large with gooey cheesy goodness topped with pepperoni, bacon, and traditional Irish Banger sausage--which was a welcomed Irish twist. The star of this show, though, was the crust, which was a nice balance of puffy dough on the inside and a delectable butter-garlic crispiness on the outside. The Irish Pub's Crispy Brussels ($4.50) had a perfectly charred outside that is flavored with garlic and a rich olive oil. The sprouts themselves were on point but lacked some of the bells and whistles offered at other establishments, such as bacon bits or a nice balsamic glaze. What's Really Good: The Haddock Sammie ($14) was crusted in housemade black & tan batter with a cornmeal crunch hugged by a super-soft Brioche bread. The massive haddock filet was served with crispy fries, and my only complaint was the limited amount of the tasty housemade tartar sauce. The fish itself was flaky and cooked properly. I wish I'd ordered two so that I could have another for lunch the next day. Pot pie is a traditional Irish dish, and I've enjoyed chicken, fish, and beef pies while traveling abroad- including a trip to Dublin in 2005. The Irish Pub's Beef Pot Pie $16) measures up to those found on the Emerald Isle and is a perfectly balanced trifecta of fluffy mashed potatoes, hearty chunks of beef swimming in a peas and corn brown gravy, and a huge, buttery pastry. For the take-out version, each ingredient was served independently, so you could combine them to your own liking. Reminiscent of Shepards pie but deconstructed in an unpretentious way. Best Bite: The Crab Soup ($8/cup) is special. Its creamy decadence is contrasted with chopped carrots, celery, and red bell peppers in a hearty broth that was thicker than a bisque, yet thinner than a chowder. Substantial chunks of lump crab meat crowded the bowl with yumminess. This soup was hot, tasty, and comforting---a perfect answer for these cold Michigan winter days read more

I've been to the Irish Pub about 5 times now and we've always had good food and service. They can be a little light staffed at times but they're always friendly and the food is worth the extra bit of wait. The bar staff are really friendly and helpful. I highly recommend the Rueben Egg Rolls as an app (we get it every time we go!) and the Rueben Sandwich. Used to love going here to karaoke on Friday nights. Stopped going after having a bartender curse at me and threaten to "fucking" throw me out of the bar (12/6/25). I don't care about why, but no bartender should stick his finger in mine, or anyone else's face and threaten to physically throw me out. Been there three times now, great experience each time. Each time, I get a beer ($4.50) and food, bill comes to like $20-25. I could easily spend that much at a Taco Bell & not enjoy myself as much. So the food is authentic the service is adequate and the thing is the ambiance is amazing but I didn't like the way our server took our orders- which isn't to say that you won't have a good or bad experience- just that it was a great way to leave a decent tip for a yummy beef pot pie meal which like I said was amazingly accurate to the menu. Being part British I can tell you that it reminded me of the times I sat in a pub eating shepherds pie in northern England when I was growing up during the Thatcher years. The chicken tenders have this very unique flavorful crispy breading, which was amazing! The Reuben eggrolls were loaded with corn beef and very good. The fish tacos were fresh and tasty. They have hand patty burgers. Our server was very friendly and attentive! Plus, they did a nice job on remodeling the place. We love the big wrap around bar and plenty of TV's. I have never had an experience in a restaurant make me angry before. I get this was a soft open, but it should really serve as a bad omen. Opening the door, I was hit with music so loud that the host couldn't hear me. The entire time it was so loud that the waitress was shouting questions at me and I couldn't have a conversation across the table. There didn't seem to be an organized seating system. Two different people came up to the hosts' stand, each looking confused when I asked for a table. The staff seemed to be confused in general. They didn't know the soup of the day... at the end of the day. The waitress took my partners' order and then walked away from the table before I could give my order. It wasn't even really an Irish pub. There are just a few leprechauns, shamrocks, and Guinness signs sprinkled about while everyone eats burgers, watches golf and MMA fights on large TVs, and listens to early 80's music that's as loud as a chainsaw (I did a decibel test and the music was literally as loud as being next to a chainsaw). Meh. Drinks were cheaper than some other places. The fish and chips - awful. Overcooked and greasy haddock, not cod. Yes, I realize their website says haddock but it was just not good fish. Snelled funny even when scraping off the cornmeal breading, which was salty. Fries were salty and greasy as well. Sorry not sorry but we won't be back. Service was good. Renovation looks great.
