Shrimp n Grits are Awesome ...
    Tarshe C.

Urban Grub in Nashville will always be one of my favorites. From the moment you walk in, the service is consistently top-tier--and today's brunch was no exception. We had the shrimp & grits (packed with flavor) and the pastrami hash--both solid choices. But let's talk about that banana foster cinnamon roll... easily one of the best I've ever had. Our server recommended it, and she did not miss! We kept it simple with coffee, but the whole brunch vibe here is unmatched. The outdoor patio seating just adds to the experience. Whether it's brunch or dinner, Urban Grub never disappoints. 10/10--no cons at all. If you're in Nashville, this spot is a must-try.

All around great experience. Good food, really enjoyed the grilled oysters. Great service and the biscuits and jam are amazing. Fries are perfect.

Had reservations for Valentine's Day and got in for brunch since they were booked for dinner. They had valet parking so that was nice. We didn't have to try to find a parking. We got in and got seated right away. They were super packed, which was expected being Vday. For a weekend brunch, they had their brunch buffet going on so we decided to try that. They had a couple of different items on there like charcuterie, cold snow crab legs, different kind of shrimps, grilled oysters and raw oysters, and a few more items. The buffet was about $52/ person for the unlimited all you can eat. You also have different options where you can do a different price for one trip to the buffet, or you can get an entree plus one trip to the buffet for a different price, as well. I don't eat much so I should've just did one trip. I really doubt I even ate $52 worth of food. Most of the items on the buffet were cold items. My favorite thing here were the biscuits they brought out to the table. The biscuits were made perfectly. They also had a strawberry dip for their chocolate biscuits. I loved both kinds of biscuits. I'd like to come back and order off the menu to try different things. In all, I didn't have a bad experience and would definitely be back.

Had to experience the brunch after hearing about it and having an amazing dinner here before, and this place just rocks it on every level. The service was the same amazing, genuine hospitality and attentiveness. Everything on the menu sounds amazing. We ordered more than we could eat because we HAD to experience it! The Cinnamon roll is layers of deliciousness, with the perfect soft center. And they only make a set amount for brunch so get in while you can! The crab claw eggs benedict had stone crab claws already prepped with minimal effort & a delightful dill hollandaise onb. perfectly prepared eggs. But you cannnnnot miss the gouda grits. Though it will make all other grits sad imposters after. Thor bacon - go for it! This is a true dining joy made of great food and service that must be experienced!

It wasn't a perfect visit, but how they handled it earns Erich and his team (Karen and William) at Urban Grub a hearty 5 stars. UB was recommended from a co-worker that knows I love oysters and UB fits the bill for my super appreciation of well executed cooking. Reasonably priced for quality and portions. Excellent service from the wait staff, to the very engaging and reverent sommelier. The menu was glorious. I couldn't choose the right combination of starter and entree. I was too chicken to hand over control to the waiter to pick for me. I had a half dozen Botoamoto (MA) prepped while considering. It wasn't too long but long enough for the last order of Branzino to be ordered up. Karen had to come back and break the bad news. That stung. I finally made a choice and now that wasn't available and I had to start over. She could tell I was annoyed but it wasn't her fault. There were recommendations of other items and it wasn't sitting well. The manager visited and offered one of the seafood stew for the table and apologized. Offered a comped dessert at the end and I promised I was going to pick something else and not leave hungry. The recovery was absolutely perfect. It was not their fault they ran out of my choice. I only wish I was a bit quicker to decide. I ended up with a charcuterie board and side of fries. My husband had the twice baked potato and house salad. We shared a favorite varietal of Furmint in front of the crackling fire on the patio. Everything on the table was exceptional. They comped our sides (fries and potato) as an apology. We left happy. They were so considerate and kind. I geeked out at the expo window behind the bar. It's so fun to see into the kitchen. Highly recommended. I hope to be back for another visit in the future.

Overall, the food was good and I'm glad I went. I was expecting a bit more in terms of aesthetics and ambiance. I sat in the bar area, which was very noisy, and the overall vibe was much more laid-back than I anticipated. That said, we had no issues getting a reservation, parking was easy (complimentary valet plus available street parking), and the experience was still enjoyable. Not quite what I expected, but a solid spot with good food and an easygoing atmosphere.

If I could give Urban Grub all the stars I would. I love it so much. My friends had never been so of course I had to remedy that. We used the free valet service because who has time to fight that 12 South traffic for a parking spot? We were shown to an awesome table with a view of the kitchen. Our server was Matthew, who was great. We ordered the crab beignets and the cinnamon roll for the table. Amazing (you'll hear that word a lot in this review. Trust me, it's warranted). The beignets tasted like delicious fried crab cake balls. They were packed with crab. The sauce that came with them was delicious also. The cinnamon roll is huge and filled with high quality cinnamon. The center was gooey and sweet. Both were 10/10. For entrees, had a variety. My husband ordered a burger and fries. My friends had the Ruben, egg white omelette, and the roasted chicken. Let me tell you about this chicken! It looked amazing. Perfectly done and fall off the bone tender. It was a huge serving. I always do one pass at the seafood and charcuterie bar. Everything on it is fresh and delicious, except the wedge salad. It has egg salad on it and I hate eggs and mayo. The bar has everything I want in a brunch. It has fruit, it has green salad with all the choose your own toppings (get the candied bacon. It's so good). The shrimp potato salad was a huge hit at the table but I prefer the shrimp pasta salad. The bar has the biggest shrimp I have ever seen and the crab legs are perfectly seasoned. I do wish they were a little larger though. The shrimp and grits with house made andouille is so good. And their cheese selection is always on point. This was a long review to say GO! You won't regret it. Everything I've had here is amazing. My friends said it's their new favorite restaurant and honestly, I don't blame them.

    Olympic View Oysters

Urbangrub always impresses me! The Olympic View oysters are HUGE and so delicious and salty. I got the crab cakes for my entree and they were probably the best I've ever had. Our server Christian was very attentive and took great care of us!

Hands down, the oysters are the star here, super fresh and always a win. The double-cut pork chop is also a must-try if you want something hearty. Overall, this place consistently serves some of the freshest, most flavorful food around. Highly recommend! Great place to celebrate birthday, graduation or anniversaries at!

This was our third trip to urbanGrub. That says a lot, because we clearly enjoyed our two previous trips. Our two previous trips were for brunch, but we were in Nashville to see a show so I decided to try an early dinner. One of the reasons we go to urbanGrub it's because we usually travel with our baby, martini, and urbanGrub has a pet friendly patio. Actually, I would go way beyond saying 'friendly', and I would say extremely welcoming, as the staff always gives martini a lot of attention and usually brings her their homemade peanut butter dog treats. We were going to be coming out a weird time, so I tried to make online reservations. Since their system wouldn't allow me to do that online, I called and spoke to a very friendly host. She assured me that there would be no problem getting a seat on the patio since the restaurant was not normally busy between 2 to 4:30. She apparently had not been informed about the private party that had reserved the entire back patio for a private birthday party. So, when we got there, we were greeted by 3 incredibly unhelpful and unemphatic male hosts. They had some back-and-forth conversation between each other about the situation before another male host came up (presumably, the one in charge since he was the only one not wearing black). He did not bother to greet us or speak to us personally (or even look at us), but instead told one of the other hosts to take us out to the patio and see if the bartenders would agree to serve us. We followed that host to the back patio, where he promptly turned around and left without speaking into the bartender on our behalf. We approached the bar, and the bartender told us that she was unable to help us because of the private party starting in half an hour. As a result, my husband, Martin and I stood there awkwardly trying to decide what we were going to do and where we were going to go since. Then, a woman walked up to us, as she must've overheard everything that was happening, and she said that she could get us the table by opening their front patio, which we did not know existed. She took us back Back up front to the house station and asked us to wait while she got the patio open for us. She was absolutely wonderful. She even brought us some of the homemade peanut butter dog treats. Although this was clearly a rocky start, we had an absolutely wonderful dining experience. Our server was a ton of an efficient, the food was terrific, and we enjoyed our tasty cocktails. So, The host experience was subpar at best, but the evening was marvelous. Sometimes I don't feel like enough credit emphasis is put on the host staff. They are the first face you see when you walk in and basically represent the restaurant. Sometimes, the host alone can make it break the evening their demeanor definitely has weight on the diner's attitude even before a server can greet the table & no morsel of food has been eaten. We will definitely be back, because we love, urban Grubb, but I hope we never have the misfortune to deal with the whole staff that were there last night again.

Scallops, Brussels, Mac and cheese and steak
    Molly F.

This was my first experience at Urban Grub for dinner! Our waitress Kendra was very attentive and quick! This is a great place for a business dinner or date night. It's easy to chat and cozy! The food was very good! I'd definitely recommend any seafood, the Brussels, charcuterie and especially the pork chop! I'd say pass on the steak as it wasn't as good as the average steakhouse and pass on the Mac and cheese. This isn't a place that would be my first pick to go again but definitely somewhere I'm glad we tried!

    Crab Beignets
    Ashley A.

I had the sangria (super refreshing), started with the crab beignets which were crispy and full of flavor, and finished with the shrimp and grits they were creamy, seasoned perfectly, and very satisfying. Everything came out fresh, and the overall brunch energy was easy and enjoyable. Solid spot for a good Nashville brunch.

This place was really cool. There was valet. We stood for a moment before taking a seat at the bar. Luke served us, and he was nice. I got a plate at the serve-your-self area. The food was delicious, but the crab legs and oysters look pitiful. I think it's probably because it wasn't seafood season. The seaweed salad, sausage, & other hor d'oeuvres were very tasty. Overall, i really liked the place, people, and vibes. I would return. 10/10!

There was no live music available at the time, but they did have a DJ which I thought was spinning the turntable rather well. It's my bad that I didn't also catch on that his is basically a Tequila Bar, rather than a more general craft cocktail establishment. Judging by the well stocked bar and the word of our waitress, other alcohol and their associated craft creations are available, but it's pretty much off menu and not well into our waitress' repertoire. And yes, Cinco de Mayo was just a few days away. One member of our party just wanted a soft drink, which was not possible that night as their CO2 was down. That did make me wonder whether the non-alcohol drinkers had much to chose from here. I suppose we could have then wandered over to the Redemption Bar at Chief's? Anyway, we're not Tequila Drinkers, and since other drink options appeared to be guesswork, we left towards more traditional mixed drinks (and live music) at a nearby Printers Alley bar. This was a rare night that I really wanted a craft cocktail in a smooth environment, and in the end it just wasn't the same.
