We went to Vincitorios last night and although it was close to closing time, we were graciously welcomed in by the owner. At no time did the staff seem rushed or impatient. Neighborhood favorite for Italian. Though this is so close to home, we reserve it for special occasions -- birthdays, anniversaries, etc., because it really is special. This past weekend I had the ravioli (I know, boring, right?) ... but it is mellow and a burst of rich flavor at the same time. Great sauce. Hubby had some sort of seafood medley special and he's ready to back already. Dessert -- panicotta. Oh my goodness. Some kind of creamy base topped with fruit puree. Probably one of my all-time favorite desserts. If we go on the weekend and neglected to make a reservation, we take a seat at the bar if the wait is too long for a table, and we get served right there. So this was a weird dinner. We went on a Saturday night and had reservations, so we were seated immediately. Our waiter came to visit quickly and was very amiable, but he was the only waiter working that night and quickly became overwhelmed. When he was at our table, his gave us his full attention, but it was hard to get home over to us when we needed him (like to order food). I blame the management on this because they seemed oblivious to the fact that service was so slow and that they needed to provide additional staff and help during the busiest time of the night. The food was generally pretty good. The Bianca Pizza was fantastic, and the ravioli carbonara was almost too bacon-y (how is that even a thing?) Everyone else seemed pleased with their dishes as well. The other issue we ran into was volume of the live music. It was a single classical guitarist playing background music, but the speakers were so loud that it was very difficult to have a conversation. We asked several times for the volume to be turned down, but it never was. Honestly, the room was small enough that no amplification or speakers should have been needed. So, in summary: good food, slow service, and a general lack of awareness of the atmosphere. Two of those are a caused by management and should be easy enough to fix. Vincitorios, sadly, has changed noticeably since being sold last year. Previously loved for its great continuity in Italian foods, it has changed, we feel. The marinara taste is much the same, although the chunky tomatoes are an unenjoyable distraction. The bread is different. The Italian Wedding soup's taste was almost unrecognizable. Too much of a tasteless chicken broth it tasted like. My chicken for the Parmesan chicken tasted old and tough...It just isn't the same to us...We miss the former one! read more

Last night we went to an Italian restaurant, VinciTorios, on the SW corner of Eliot & McClintock. The place has been there forever but now under new ownership. In our opinion, it's better now. The pastas and sauces (gravies) were outstanding. Unlike a lot of other "Italian" places rather than using the same sauce for most if not all of their dishes, when they list different sauces they ARE different. Not only that, they taste home made and fresh.The service was outstanding and the ambiance is old world. VinciTorios will become our new favorite. read more

My husband and I decided to eat here and it was very busy being Valentines Weekend. We got lucky to sit at the bar. The restaurant was a little short staffed but when the food arrived, it was amazing! The best butternut squash ravioli I have had yet. We came here after receiving a gift card. The restaurant looks small when you walk in, but there are several large rooms. Live piano music was tasteful and subdued. Service was immediate and friendly. We each had wedding soup, and a seafood pasta entrée. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. I don't normally order pasta dishes, but I was quite impressed. The proprietor stopped by the table for a chat. The food isn't disappointingly pricey, and the portions were large. We took a pizza to go, and it was also delicious. We will return often. read more

I am extremely disappointed with our experience. My 91-year-old grandmother received a gift certificate to this restaurant for her birthday and was excited to finally use it. After enjoying our meal, we presented the gift certificate to pay, only to have the owner, Imad, refuse to accept it. We were told the restaurant is under new management and that they would not honor the certificate. A gift certificate represents money that has already been paid to the business. Passing the cost of a management change on to customers is incredibly disappointing and, in our case, left my grandmother embarrassed on what was supposed to be a special outing. Good customer service means standing behind commitments made to customers or finding a reasonable solution. Simply refusing to honor a paid-for gift certificate is not the way to treat loyal patrons. Unfortunately, because of this experience, we won't be returning and cannot recommend this restaurant to others. read more

Good: We were seated right away, our waiter was very good. Bad: my mother was given a birthday gift of a $100 certificate to Vincitorio's, her favorite Italian restaurant, for her 90th birthday. After a series of personal events, she was able and healthy to come here for lunch with my sister and my daughter. When I made the online reservation, I left a note that we would need wheelchair access. Basically, all they did was remove a chair which then butted her seat against the table behind us. And, getting to the bathroom was difficult. The food was so-so. Italian wedding soup was flavorless, We had to add salt and pepper and Parmesan just to make it taste like anything. We ordered the muscles and clams and several of them were not opened so we didn't eat all of them. The house salad was basically just a plate, full of lettuce, no tomato, no croutons, and it tasted like bottled Italian dressing. But the worst part was when we gave them the certificate, we were told they weren't going to honor it because it was given out before they changed management. To us this did not make any sense because somebody paid $100, And there was no expiration date or any stipulations about not being honored. But the owner, Imad, refused to take it, saying his system wouldn't be able to process it. We said well your system is not really our problem. Somebody's already paid $100 for this. We talked to him over the phone and he was not willing to listen. He talked too fast and he was argumentative. Finally, he gave us 40% off. What a crappy way to spend special moment. My mother was so embarrassed and upset. I will not be telling the person that they were bilked out of $100. What was supposed to be a lovely time turned out to be a table full of angry ladies. Sadly, one of her favorites proved to be diappointing, we will not be back. read more

We shared the anti pasta appetizer, and then both ordered the Seafood Fradiovolo for our main, which includes clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops and calamari in a spice tomato sauce served over linguine. My family and I had a reservation for this place for Mother's Day. To say that we had a horrible experience would be an understatement. To begin, we waited about 30 minutes past our reservation time to be seated (understandable because of the holiday). There was no room to wait inside so we waited outside of the restaurant. When seated, several wait staff passed by our table without saying a word. We were seated for 20 minutes before anyone had even come to welcome our table and offer even water. The restaurant ran out of cups. So our drinks couldn't make it to the table until an hour into us being seated. On the menu, under the pasta and specialties there is an italicized statement that ALL pasta and specialty dishes come with bread and soup or salad. We placed our orders, gave our salad/soup orders and ordered an appetizer. The waitress came back to our table later and asked if it would be okay that our appetizer would be out after our meal. We said that was fine and then had to ask if we were getting bread. At this point we had nothing but water on our table. Our food came, my meal was not only terrible but made incorrectly, yet our server never came to check on us once the food arrived. We never got or salad or soup, which again, is listed as free with a meal. The manager came to check on us, at the request of us, and was nothing but condescending and rude. We stated that to see 4 tables in our section not get salad yet watch other tables receive them wasn't acceptable. The manager said "let's focus on only you" and "out of the hundreds of people that came in you are the only ones to complain" as if it's our fault. I watched as other tables around us complained about the same things. No salad, no cups. Overall, a terrible experience and my family and I will not be coming back due to poor management. read more

So this place as soon as you walk in... smells amazing!!! I've been looking for an Italian place and man we found it... I'm so hard on restaurant because I always compare it to back home in Ca well this place did not make me miss my hometown at all.. our server was amazing but the young lady for refilled our drinks and pretty much clean the table for us was even more impressive.. I've never wanted for anything and my drinks were always filled, btw they are Coke products so yes!!!! And a win for me We got cheese sticks, lasagna cheese, ravioli, sausage, peppers, with pasta, and a sandwich a Philly sandwich to be exact.. so yum the place is good if you want a cool date night or even to bring the family it takes you back you lose track of time Honestly I felt like I was eating in the great hall at Hogwarts. We really love this restaurant! The owner was actually raised in Italy and brought his knowledge and talent to Tempe. The atmosphere in this restaurant is romantic and rustic. On one side is a rustic looking room with black and white checkered tablecloths and the Stonewall what's the murals painted in. The other room has a bar and has a wall full of wine bottles. There's a piano and on weekends someone is playing live music for dinner. There's a third room off of the wine room that seats large groups. There's a good size menu with the standard Italian dishes that were used to at most restaurants, and some more authentic, less common dishes as well. There are sandwiches and pizza on the menu, too. Hubby ordered the Chicken Scarpara, which is chicken with mushrooms and pepperoncinis in lemon butter and white wine sauce. It had quite a bite to it, but it was absolutely delicious. It served with a side of pasta marinara and broccoli. Definitely enough food for a couple of meals. I ordered the Ravioli di Formaggio. Even though it's simple cheese ravioli, the red sauce with so delicious. Both were served with warm garlic bread and a salad or Italian wedding soup. Both were good. read more

Hubby surprised me with date night here for my birthday! We were greeted and seated front row to the piano which was a surprise as it was our first time! We had the pleasure of being served by Marcie who gave great recommendations through and through from wine to appetizers to food! Everything was incredible, the food fresh and the flavor made us feel like we were back in Italy on our honeymoon! Really great, authentic Italian food! After a long & foodless day, I pulled up yelp to find something nearby that sounded like a great place for my husband and I to decompress for an hour or so and enjoy a meal together. Vincitorios was nearby and looked good, so we headed over. We were quickly greeted and sat- the hostess and staff were all very friendly. We were sat in a room with a stage and a bar. The room was crowded and the walkways between tables extremely small. So people are bumping into/kicking the chair constantly. We ordered the calamari & the chicken parm dinner. Our waiter asked us twice if we were okay with the spicy marinara. I love spicy stuff- so no big deal. It was just their regular, extremely sweet, marinara sauce with red pepper flakes on top. The calamari was on the light side of fried, but it was the best thing we had at Vincitorios. The salads came out and my husband said his was really good- the Caesar. It looked good. My salad- just the regular salad, was not very fresh. The onions were soft and wilted even. The chicken parm dinner came with a side of broccoli that had visible brown rot on it. The pasta was extremely overcooked - it was mushy and cold. The chicken parm was an extremely thin piece of chicken. Like literally three credit cards thick. The guys walking around refilling drinks refilled my sprite with water twice. So I started having to say "it's sprite" as soon as they came by. But they did come by often! In the summer, I am sure they are a godsend! We had to hit a drive through on the way home even through we dropped $60 here. I suspect the good reviews are because everyone in the dining room seemed to be a regular. The waiter and busboys were chatting with every table extensively, except us, of course. The manager was very sarcastic. unprofessional and demeaning. and this was over a $12 gift card that supposedly was from the previous owners that this management would not honor. I had no idea that this restaurant was under new management and going forward I will never step foot in the place again. The food was not like it used to be. Service was slow . My boyfriend and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary tonight. Everything about this restaurant was perfection. Everything was very family oriented and homey off the bat. We sat in the area with live music. There was a pianist that played Frank Sinatra and other classics which set the perfect vibe. After VinciTorio's being one of our two favorite Italian restaurants for 10+ years, it appears Mario's retirement and subsequent change in ownership is unfortunately showing, not in a good way. We had reservations for 5pm Sat eve, 5/9/2026. We were seated but it took 10 minutes to get even water. That "service" was lackadaisical and indifferent... no greeting. Took a good many more minutes for our waiter to come take our orders. Hubby got what we usually get but it didn't taste the same. I got Seafood Fradiavolo ($30.95)... 2 mussels, 2 shrimp, 2 clams and lots of very rubbery calamari. We had to ask for more beverages. We commented that there were flies (we even killed one!) and many gnats. Asked the waiter to let the manager know. No acknowledgement from management. Waiter said "it's just getting to be THAT time of year. Salad plate was room temp (used to be chilled) as was the salad room temp but still crispy. Service was nothing to write home about overall. We now have only one favorite Italian restaurant and will never go back. Bummer turn of events. read more

Recently went to this restaurant for the first time and I wouldn't come back. Another Italian restaurant up the street in better in my opinion. I ordered the Garlic Fettuccine Alfredo minus the sun dried tomatoes and Caesar Salad (Note: this salad is a $3 upcharge for wilted iceberg lettuce). This Alfredo entree was very bland, the Alfredo lacked any kind of flavor. The noodles were mushy/overcooked and broken into small pieces making it hard to twirl onto the fork. My friend and I order this and we both had to doctor up their white sauce with salt, all of their cheese at the table and pepper. Also at the time of our visit their soda machine was down and they literally just had tea and water. read more

We Visited Vincitorio's on May 18, 2026, and the experience was disappointing from start to finish. The restaurant was nearly empty around 5:30pm, so we sat at the bar. House red wine was unavailable, and the owner suggested a different Cabernet. Since it was happy hour, it seemed reasonable to assume the substitute would be at a similar price. We ordered the lasagna and asked for an extra plate. The server said there would be a $10 split charge if they split it, but an extra plate was fine. When the food arrived, the soup portion was tiny, and the lasagna was barely warm and lacked flavor. This restaurant used to serve toasted bread with meals -- none was offered, and nothing was said about it. Quality has clearly declined from what this place used to be years ago. When we were ready to close out, I asked if they still offered a military discount. I served for 37 years, and Vincitorio's always honored retired, active duty, and veterans with proper ID. The server told us they now only give discounts only to active duty. When the bill came, the server said she needed to add the $10 split charge after all, even though the dish wasn't split by the kitchen. The final total was $87.45 for one lasagna, a small soup, and three glasses of wine. The substitute Cabernet was charged at full price, and when questioned, the owner gave explanations about rising costs, gas prices, and even taxes on the seats -- none of which addressed the issue. For a nearly empty restaurant, cold food, inconsistent policies, and high prices made this a very disappointing visit. After many years of dining here, it's clear the place is no longer what it used to be. We won't be returning. read more

We arrived just before the dinner rush and were seated right away (I believe my family made a reservation as well). The decor inside is cozy and warm, exactly what you'd expect of an authentic Italian restaurant. The food was delicious.. we ordered a few appetizers including the ravioli, and assorted pasta. Mother's Day. You would think it would be a lovely experience for my 83-year-old mom (in all there were three moms) and eight people in total. We had reservations for 6:15. First, we did not get our drinks (she said there were not any clean cups) or bread - which we had to ask for - for 45 minutes. Next, we ordered our food, which was supposed to come with salad or soup, and were told 20 minutes later that our apps (salads) would arrive after our food. Our food came (and was wrong - there was not supposed to be pasta sauce on the pasta and the meat was cold). Still no salads. We were then told that the salad line was backed up. We finished our meals and still had no salads. Meanwhile, a table that got seated received salads. We then heard our waitress say to the table behind us (party of four) that they would not get salad either. We then asked to talk to the manager. He was rude and insulting. He said, "We've served over 400 people today and no one else complained," making it sound like we were the problem. For $25.00-35.00 a plate, no salad, little bread, and awful food service, I would never recommend this place. read more
