    Breakfast time!!
    Luis S.

This bakery is known for its fantastic ocean rolls, so you might want to get in line if you're planning to sit down and enjoy some coffee. But if you're looking for something to take home and want just a drip coffee, they have a special line for that. The baked goods are delicious, the place gets busy in the morning, and the service was okay.

I think there is a lot to be said for consuming all ones calories for the day in one sitting! Where has the Ocean Roll BEEN all my life? Between that extremely large cardamom pastry and a chai, I was set for the day after enjoying this lovely and extremely busy bakery one morning. I'd love to return one day and try the rest of the very tasty-looking menu! And the rest of Bend was pretty awesome too!

Here's a pic of their Ocean Roll!

I love this bakery and always stop into one of their retail stores or pick up some goodies at any local grocery store that carries their things. The Ocean Roll is a great "bun" and tastes like nothing else. I think it's the cardamom? I'll take it home and warm it back up in the oven for a delicious treat. They also make delicious breads, with my favorite being their long French baguette. If you're going into one of their shops, you'll appreciate the modern, clean interior and friendly, over-the-counter service. Truth...

    Waldorf - Chicken Salad Sandwich

Voted best bakery in Central Oregon? I knew I had to visit. Offering baked goods, freshly baked bread, breakfast sandwiches, classic sandwiches, steel cut oats, bowl of soup, fruit and fries. They also have a small kids menu. If you are looking for brunch, be sure to try their full line of drinks such as the Sparrow Bloody Mary, Saint Elders Cocktail, Cardamom Old Fashioned, Classic Martini and of course the classic Champagne Mimosa. What I was really looking forward to trying was the World Famous Ocean Roll. This roll has quite the reputation of being a baked delight. It is made with vanilla cardamom sugar rolled into a croissant. I think it The roll definitely lived up to the hype with its unique flavor and was delicious. We also tried the Waldorf - Chicken sandwich which was fresh tasting on a hand rolled croissant. No drinks except for orange juice as we were heading to hike. Interior is very inviting and the kind of place one could spend a couple hours with friends. There is also patio dining which is what we opted for as the day was so lovely. Service was efficient and helpful. Location appears to be in newer part of Bend and parking was street side.

Huge line but it went so fast! We ordered a couple of bacon breakfast sandwiches on croissant and OMFG so good! Yum! The eclair was delicious but almost on the verge of being too sweet. Still 5 stars! My dirty chai was exactly what I needed at 8am. And the music and feeling inside was upbeat and lively. Everyone was smiling and enjoying their work there. I will be back tomorrow to try more yummy stuff!

Cute little place for pastries, bread and sandwiches with coffee. We got some pastries and a monte cristo sandwhich. The service took a bit too long to make a sandwich. But the pastries were good. I was there for the popular roll everyone was talking about but it sold out before I got there. Will try again next time.

Heard about their famous ocean rolls and stopped to get some for our mini roadtrip. The space is bright and inviting with plenty of seats. Easy street parking. Ordered ham & cheese roll, ocean roll and a lemon twist. The savory roll was quite tasty especially when warmed. The lemon twist was surprisingly moist. As for the ocean roll unfortunately the staff mistakenly bagged another lemon twist instead, and we didn't check until later. Oh well we could plan another roadtrip to Bend I guess.

Monte Cristo, ocean roll, iced chai latte

SO good. Good place to work, lots of indulgent options. Ordered ocean roll pastry, monte cristo, and iced chai latte. I attempted to order the sandwich with different bread (the brioche) but they said no substitutions. I'm glad they didn't because it was perfect as is.

The line is worth the wait and honestly didn't take too long to order. We sampled a few bakery items and they did not disappoint. Ocean roll is a must!! Carrot cake was divine!! Service was friendly.

A few things- they need to update their online menu as it's about $2-3 cheaper there and misleading. Took a star off for that. I got the Croque Monsieur and it was fine but needed more mustard and should have been cut in half. The pumpkin spice latte was good. The bacon breakfast sando looked delicious. And my friend's child loved the hot chocolate. There needs to be more seating and it's fairly sterile. In the warm weather patrons can sit outside. The line went fast and the order taker was lovely.

Very cute located in a super cute area. Busy even at 9 am on a Thursday. Got the ocean roll because we had too. So surprised how good it was! I may have liked it better than a cinnamon roll. Doesn't have icing on top, so it's much lighter than a cinnamon roll. Highly highly recommend. Also recommend asking for it warmed up

We stumbled upon Sparrow Bakery when venturing around Bend. I was told their ocean roll was unique and great if you like cardamom. When we got there around lunch they had already sold out. Side note: we walked across to west coast provisions and they had one last ocean roll which they mentioned was brought in that morning. I was excited to try it and it was interesting but not as sweet as a cinnamon roll. I found the bakery to be so big and bright which was great for pictures and enjoying the beautiful Bend weather. I got the pavlova to try because it is such a beautiful dessert that I can't seem to find at home nor want to make without trying it first. The pavlova was tart, sweet, and very delicious. I wish there was more lemon curd in there. I also tried a cookie and a ham/cheese croissant. The croissant was buttery and flakey with the cheese providing such great richness. The cashier wasn't very knowledgeable to the ingredients in the pastries for someone with a nut allergy. That would be my only improvement. we parked on the street and thankfully the area wasn't busy. Lots of other cute shops in the area if you need to help burn off some of those sweets.

Non-bacon breakfast sandwhich and a chai latte

Was visiting Bend for the weekend and came across this sweet little bakery! It's walk-up/counter service and then you grab a table after you order. Was there on a chilly winter day and the line extends outside when busy (I have a feeling it's always busy) so dress warm and be ready for a line! They have breakfast food and pastry options. I got the "non-bacon breakfast sandwich" which was egg, avocado, melted cheese, and arugula (I asked for it with no aioli) on a house made croissant. It was so good! I also had the chai with oat milk and it was also delicious with a wonderfully cinnamon flavor. I got a banana loaf to go for a little snack later and as with everything else it did not disappoint! Would definitely return when in Bend again!

The first thing I saw was the beautiful bakery case filled with breads, rolls and drippy gooey cinnamon rolls1. I ordered from a very friendly staff member with a beautiful smile. I decided on an egg sandwich served on a toasted, incredibly soft, house-made milk bun. Layered with a flavorful chimichurri aioli and topped with melted Queso Oaxaca cheese. I love the added crunch with pickled radish, carrots, and fresh sprouts, which cut through the richness with a bright, tangy bite. Seriously, it was mouth watering delicious and probably the most unique breakfast sandwich I have ever had. As I write this my mouth is watering thinking about it! The vanilla lattes are not average they were lovely. It's cool that the beans are sourced from plantations in Veracruz, Mexico. Not overly sweet with milk frothed to the perfect drinkable temperature.

Who knew one could find Paris quality croissants in Bend, Oregon?…read more We were in town for our family reunion and two summers ago we held it at the Paris Olympics so our point of comparison is valid. Twice I went to M's to pick up a large assortment of pastries for our family of 21 and everything was outstanding and compared favorably to the best we had in France. We were staying at the Riverhouse Lodge and it was an easy 7 minute drive to get to the Old Mill location with plenty of parking. Both days no chocolate/almond croissant, which was sad. Standouts: - almond croissant 5/5 - chocolate croissant 5/5 - ham and cheese croissant 5/5 - gochujang twist 5*5 (so unique and so bummed they didn't have it the second day) - kouigh amman 5/5 - almond pecan sandie 5/5 Solid choices: - monkey bread 4/5 (a bit smaller than what I'm used to and more bready than pastry, no frosting as I'm more used to seeing) - milk bread 4/5 (solid offering) - blueberry scone 4/5 (a little bit too fruit forward so very messy to eat but still yummy) - blueberry buckwheat muffin 4/5 (also a bit too fruit forward so very messy to eat, but still yummy) We didn't try any of their breads but the selection looks great!

I was a solo diner and she gave me just the same attention and hospitality as her other groups. It was a very homey feeling, I felt like I was having breakfast at a friend's house. The margarita was very yummy, not too sweet and super refreshing. The Baja Chicken Hash was a party in my mouth. I felt like every bite had a different level of something. I wouldn't recommend if you're not a saucy person. Between the salsa, poached egg and hollandaise I was in sauce heaven. Stefan was very personable, he encouraged me to try the homemade hot sauce with my meal and simply said "try this, trust me". The homemade hot sauce and ketchup really complimented the dish as well. The owner walked around and talked with myself and other guests and he also helped buss my table. Very admirable to see owners be present and get down and dirty with the staff.
