This is probably one of the best kept secrets in the city! I've passed by this restaurant many times and never paid it any attention. Agree with the folks above. Decent (at best) food. Get the CCQ with the Spicy Taco Meat... it's so simple, but so delicious. I've been going here with my family since I was a little kid, and honestly the general ambiance has never changed. The staff, as always, was super friendly and the food was made to perfection! I was skeptical about this place at first. The atmosphere is a little older. However, our service was amazing, our server was so thorough. The food was inexpensive and very good. They even sell mixed drinks, which were also inexpensive. The best was saved for dessert, in which we got strawberry cheesecake. Overall, it was great! read more

Perhaps the worst meal I've ever had in my entire life, including meals I ate in Soviet Union. Granted, the waitress was super nice and the only redeeming factor. Cardboard "food" reminiscent of ice rink frozen pizza, withered from faulty heat lamps. Not disgusting like we discovered a hewn-off finger in our meal, just utterly tasteless, tough, stale and plastic-ee. Even the curly fries were soggy and inedible and it's pretty hard to make a french fry undesirable. The best part of the meal was the awesome '70s Leopard mural on the wall. Whoever wrote the 5 star review, perhaps is fed intravenously, or owns stake in the awful awful "eatery". A better meal could have been had at Wafflehouse or Hooters. read more

This is great place and I've eaten here for over 30 years and I've never had a bad meal. I write today because I had lunch on Sunday after church with what started out as a group of 4 and evolved to 12 or 13. Our waiter couldn't have been more accommodating. I went to Speakeasy for the first time yesterday. We went for lunch and got the camel rider (weird name for a sandwich, but whatever) and the club sandwich. The food was tasty, fresh and reasonably priced. Our server ("Princess C.") was prompt and pleasant. I dig the 70s vibe of the place. Reminds me of places I may have gone when I was a very young child, since the decor is reminiscent of the 70s, complete with a small enclosed arcade area in the back. Evidently Speakeasy was established in 1976, and seems to have retained all of the original furnishings. I like that; gives it personality. I plan to return and highly recommend it for lunch or a casual, low-key supper. read more

CCQ is great, add taco meat. Chicken finger basket is classic, with honey mustard. They have draft beer, which is great. The pizza is some of my favorite around. The combo plate is a common favorite as well. read more

This place has the best club sandwich I have had in town!! I have tried a club at almost every place around, so far this is the best!! Yum!

I am a Columbus native and have been to speakeasy many times. It had been about 2 years since my last visit and I had heard they were under new management, so we decided to give it a go. There were 2 waitresses working that night and we were seated by one of them. We must have been the 2nd waitresses' table, because the lady who seated us (who was working her tail off) kept going between the other 5 tables there and we kept waiting... The other waitress was behind the back counter talking to another employee (or maybe the manager) and eventually went into the kitchen. We had my 18 month old with us and started feeding her when we sat down.. about 15 minutes went by without a word from our waitress, not even to get our drink order. Based on that, we cleaned up our table and left. We will not be back with service this poor on a weekend night. Under the previous management, the food was good and the service was always at least ok but whoever was running the show that night didn't know or care what they were doing. read more

I have never had a good experience at this restaurant but today's experience takes the cake. My co-workers and I decided on this restaurant for lunch today. We arrived at noon, were immediately seen and placed our orders (2 camel riders and a scrambled dog). 40 minutes later, we had to flag down our waitress (she had not come to check on us at all) and she told us our food would be out in 5 minutes. So we waited 5 more minutes and still had not received our food, so we left with empty bellies and went to a quick drive-thru before having to return to work (late). I will definitely not be returning to Speakeasy. read more

I really love this restaurant. I have NEVER had a bad meal there and the wait staff is always very friendly and attentive even when it is crowded. My favorite meal is their hamburgers though. This place serves some of the best hamburgers down here. read more

Eh. The service was fantastic! But the food was mediocre.. I got the camel rider and it was ok. I'd rather get a sandwich from jimmy johns, firehouse subs, or publix. All those are within a mile of speak easy. They also "specialize" in pizza. If im getting pizza deorios pizza is right down the street...... It's ok. Oh, Speakeasy - I love you! Yes I know that for a while you and I were hot and heavy. Sometimes we would see each other three or four times a week. But then I strayed. I'll admit it, I began to see other places. But I still come back to you. You are so comfortable and accomodating. There is always room for me, whether I am by myself or have 11 or 12 other people with me. You have the greatest waitresses around and I love how gay-friendly you are. I love your chicken philly with cubes of chicken and lost of onions and cheese. I love your pasta salad with chicken. i love your pizza made on pita bread that is just enough to fill me up at lunchtime. My daughter loves your tuna salad and chicken salad. I have to say that I have stopped coming for dinner. But only because families with kids let their children run wild in the place. I love you, Speakeasy! read more

We found this restaurant on google on our way to another lunch spot, and I'm so glad we did! Our server Lisa was great, super accommodating and very friendly. The place is family-friendly and the menu is inclusive, with the typical burgers and fries and sandwiches, some Mexican options (hombre burrito was very good!), and a decent kids menu. We came on a Sunday, and it seems like as soon as church let out, EVERYONE came here for lunch! Has a little arcade area and a very comfortable feel to the whole restaurant. I used to enjoy speakeasy but the service has been terrible lately. My 2 coworkers and I got there at noon and immediately ordered. We ordered the easiest things on the menu (camel riders) and we waited for 45 minutes for our food. We finally had to leave because we never got it. In that time we were never checked on by our waitress. Will not be going back anytime soon. read more

Took our son here as he was leaving for the army the next day. This was my 4th time here. Each visit has been with a different person for different reasons and at different times (lunch weekday, lunch weekend, Friday night dinner and a Tuesday evening). At each visit our servers were polite and prompt. Only once did we have a longer than expected wait and since it was not even a busy time, they gave us our appetizer for free. I have enjoyed their reuben sandwich 3 times& believe it is the tastiest in Columbus! Their hot wings are huge and saucy with just the right tang and spice( we got the hot once and extra hot once- there was a definite difference!). For our son we ordered pizza and wings. My husband having been brought up on NYC pizza, was delightfully surprised and enjoyed it. Our party of 5 was well taken care of and our last lunch was a huge success due to the great food, vibrant atmosphere and attentiveness of the server. read more

On July 26th, 2017 my wife, 4 daughters and mother came into Speakeasy for lunch. They placed their order and it came out wrong which they had to wait for the correct order. When the bill arrived, my wife and mother decided to split the bill which seems like no big issue. The waitress came back and said there was a problem with splitting the bill so my wife said to just put it on her card as one payment. While sitting there our bank called and said that there had been a fraud case opened that 4 transactions for $50.58 had been ran freezing our account. My wife and 4 daughters where in town visiting family and scheduled to come home they next day. The credit union stated due to speakeasy mistake that our account was frozen for 72 hours leaving them and myself who was at home in Charlotte NC without any access to money where I had a dinner meeting with potential clients that I was supposed to pay for dinner. I found out later that day that speakeasy also ran my mothers card 3 times and froze her account as well. I spoke with a Livy (not sure the spelling of her name) several times and to explain what was happening and she said they couldn't do anything and it was on my end and they didn't do anything wrong. After several calls and trying to speak with the owner Chris who Livy was speaking to stated he would call me upon my request which he failed to do so and has not yet reached out to me. I heard the conversation that he had with Livy and how rude he was to her regarding they got their money and that i was trying to get food for free. I have visited this establishment many times since I am from Columbus GA and never had a problem. With all of this taking place and after 72 hrs. of accounts being frozen, my account was still charged $50.58 and my mothers card was charged $20.00. So a meal that was $50.58 ended up costing my family $70.58 which I was told by Livy that we wouldn't be charged for the meal at all and wouldn't have to pay. However Livy has lied to me and Chris the owner has yet return any of my calls or reach out to me and I am still charged. If this is what a Columbus establishment is and how they want to treat the customers and community it is a shame. I have recently talked to several people and have found out they are known for this and that people have been charged multiple times for a meal. Chris the owner never does anything about it.
