Cute place. Has potential. Bartender chicks? Useless and clueless. One made a Cosmo with cranberry and lime, two acids. C'mon. Bartender 101. Let a poor guy next to us wait 10 minutes for a shot of vodka. Consistently under-poured drinks for inappropriate prices. $8 single weak vodka soda. Not right. Ran out of glassware at 9:00; moved on to plastic. $11 cosmos in a Silo plastic cup? Awesome. This place should work, but falls horribly short. Close it down. Not worth anyone's time. read more

The clubowner does not honor her contracts with bands. She has been known to "stiff" a band after playing for 4 hours straight if she has a slow night. I was told there are financial troubles and my band was one of the ones who didn't get paid the agreed upon amount. This person does bad business, and anyone who gets mixed up having to do business with the owner is likely to not get paid for their services or goods. Vendors and bands watch out! Forewarned is forearmed. I wouldn't buy a watered down drink at this dive for anything. The "service" is provided by moronic underpaid amateurs who don't have a clue. When their paychecks come up short, I wonder if they'll still think it's okay for her to not pay her bills. read more

The space is fantastic. I love the vintage underground, the discovery as each room opens onto the next. The staff is mostly friendly, and they seem to wrangle in some good music. I really want to like this place a lot, but I'm not sure what's up with the management. The first time I came here with some girlfriends before an event at the Dickens, they were out of vodka. Let me say that again: They were OUT of VODKA. When it finally arrived maybe 45 minutes later, they did not charge us for the one drink we each had to slam on out way out the door, but still. How does a bar run out of vodka? This weekend, I brought my husband in for a nightcap. After I was told that they were out of my first choice of beer, I had to choose THREE additional beers before I found one they actually had. I might expect this from a bar in the middle of the woods with limited vendor access, but this is the first (and second) time I have ever encountered a bar being out of something that wasn't a special or seasonal offering. Will this keep me from returning? Probably not. But it will certainly never be my top choice. read more

They are not good on timing. They will advertise a time online and not stick to it. For example, they advertised a DJ dance party to start at 9pm, so I brought my Meetup group there. They had a poker game going and poker tables on the dance floor. Even after asking and complaining to the owner 3 times, the poker game kept going on until well after 10pm. I walked out! Another time, we went to another DJ dance party. The DJ was catering to his "homies". Our group (3 of us) were the only ones up "trying" to dance to the OLD music he was playing from 10pm (they started late again) until approximately 12am, when a couple people came on the dance floor. That was after I spoke with the owner to say the DJ was not very good. She said she "liked him" and that he was "playing to the crowd". I asked, "what crowd", "we are the only ones dancing". Then she decided she would talk to him. He then played a few new songs, but went back to the old stuff. A few of his "homies" would go out the back FIRE EXIT door, prop it open to smoke, blasting the guests with freezing cold air and smoke all over the dance floor. So, I went out the door to see what was going on, looked up the stairs, told them to go around and smoke up front, moved the rock and closed the door. I knew they were not supposed to do that because the owner *normally* has an employee sitting in front of that door making sure people don't do that, but he was not present. The bi fat guy later came back and got in my face while I was on the dance floor and threatened me. So, I went to the owner. She went and found the guy who was supposed to be watching the door. But later, the doorman was LETTING PEOPLE out there to smoke, so I think the owner gives patrons lip service, even though that's a fire code violation! The drinks are watered down and they cater to bums off the street. They serve them until they are falling down drunk. They entire bar area is full of them and you can't get a drink later without being accosted by them. We won't be back! And we bring a lot of business as a Meetup group. Generally the back area is empty, but he front bar is filled with drink bums off the street - and they stink! read more

This is a great live music venue in downtown Longmont. Jazz Jam Sessions every Thursday night from 7-9pm. Great drinks and friendly service. The interior has a vintage speakeasy vibe and there are pool tables as well. I just moved to Longmont and I am now a regular at the Speakeasy. read more

Really cool spot. Especially for Longmont. Unfortunately there was no drink menu, for a bar that traffics mostly hard alcohol it might be a good idea to have a few specialty drinks or at least a bar tender apt in recommending something to your liking. It is a great idea for a bar but the execution needs some serious tuning. read more

Every time I come into the Speakeasy I have a fabulous time :) I mostly go on karaoke nights on Wednesday. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and the bartender s awesome! Amazing location. It is a shame because this place could be a big deal. Always misses the mark. A few bartenders (& barback) are professionals while the rest of the staff seem to be hungover and/or seem to care less about their paying customers. Here's a tip, host some great local musicians (with no cover) and warm up the negative vibes in what could be the most popular spot in town. Fun, different and classic! Every time I've been, I have had a great time! Always a good dj, pool tables, dance floor and friendly staff! A classy speakeasy this is not. While sitting there they had trashy reality TV playing and owners were breaking down boxes right in front of us. I don't get it. So much potential absolutely no desire to do any more than just "get by". The "theme" of Speakeasy won't much longer cover what this place is, a dirty basement transient bar. The bartenders have either been extremely slow (the place was never half full all three of my visits) or they will simply ignore you. They have no knowledge of mixology, NONE and when I went through a list of basic 101 mixology drinks... with every listing they shrugged their shoulders and shook their head. Frustrating. A guy sitting at the bar my last visit instructed the bartender on how to make a GINGER AND DARK RUM for crying out loud, note they did not ask for a Dark and Stormy and STILL with asking for the drink in it's ingredient form, they were clueless. This was my third visit and with the opening of THREE new amazing nearby wine and beer venues (and more on the way) it will be my last. read more

My boyfriend and I had been looking forward to checking this out for so long and even recommended it to a friend to celebrate his wife's birthday. Never, ever again! Maybe if the entire staff was fired and replaced with a courteous, competent crew. The hostess was rude by rushing our party of 8 in the door telling us to hurry up and close the door because she was cold. You're working the door at a bar during the winter... Dress appropriately, get a space heater, move the podium further away from the door, whatever. A large group can only move so fast in a single file line and you can't expect them to all squeeze in the doorway like sardines while you check ids because you're cold. Then the bartenders...just wow. I honestly don't think they have ever worked in the service industry, let alone tended bar. I truly believe they made up prices as they went (all of which were way, way too high). After a confrontation with the manager in which we were wrongly accused of smoking a vaporizer pen (or electronic cigarette) indoors, we were done and took our business elsewhere. I'd be more understanding if he'd approached us differently, but he was extremely accusatory and unprofessional. Don't waste your time or your money.
