Before going on a riverboat cruise, my sister and brother in law wanted to stop by this tea shop. What a gem! They sell all sorts of unique spice blends and tea blends. We were able to smell all the different tea blends, and then order a freshly brewed cup of tea to go. My sister ordered a blend with chocolate, my brother in law ordered one with jasmine and coconut, and my husband got an Earl Grey creme. I would highly recommend this shop for any tea lover, as well as anyone who truly enjoys cooking with different spices! There's something for everyone's palate.

I love spice and tea shops. I first found Spice and Tea Exchange in Portland in 2010, and have been an online customer from the corporate HQ in Florida ever since. Each store is a franchise. I did not even realize there was one in San Antonio, but ran into it accidentally while wandering around in the Rivercenter shops because the sun was comforting and the outside air was chilly (as was the temperature in the convention center). I found a lot of my favorites as well as other blends I had not seen. I ended up buying five different spice blends. The service was very friendly. I recommend a stop here if you haven't been!

If you love tea then you need to go see Miguel! He was very attentive and Knowledgeable. We told him what our likes and dislike were and he recommended teas that we all loved! My husband, who is the cook in our home, had questions about some of the spices and Miguel answered them all with confidence and professionalism. His upselling game was on point and he spoke clearly and directly. Thank you Miguel. Our hot teas are giving us comfort and zen as we wait out the ice storm in our hotel room.

I decided to swing by over the weekend as I have been trying to get into tea to reduce my coffee intake. I am someone with no knowledge of tea whatsoever, and not a huge fan of the few I have tasted over the years. First of all, this shop is a delight to walk into! They have such a wide array of teas, sugars, salts, spices, and custom blends. They also have a number of tea infusers, teapots, kettles, gift sets, etc. Ari was able to answer all of my questions and recommend a handful of teas that may help ease the transition from coffee to tea. I loved being able to smell all of the teas and they also had a neat booklet that described the teas aroma, flavor, steeping instructions etc. I took home mango tango, coconut oolong, apricot ginger, & a specialty dessert mixture of hazelnut cookie, emperors chai, & cinnamon sugar. So far I have tried the mango tango and it was absolutely delicious! I very much appreciate that teach tea comes with specific steeping instructions (serving size, water temperature & steeping time) because I would not have any clue otherwise. I am very much looking forward to trying the rest of the teas I purchased and then returning to grab some new flavors. P.S. they have monk fruit sugar which is a sugar alternative that is diabetic safe!

The tea here is very good and the young lady that served me made me a perfect cup. You can also buy wonderful spices here too.

Lotions, savory salts, hand sanitizer, cologne, vinegar, room freshener, you name it! Everything is made by the owner himself (who is very well known in the herb community) using produce and herbs he grows onsite!!! 10/10 a must visit when in Fredericksburg.

My annual Girl's Weekend was spent in Fredericksburg this year. I was very excited about finally…read moregetting the chance to visit the famous herb farm that I had seen in numerous publications. So on Sunday we headed out and found that the place was turned into a bed & breakfast. We drove by and noticed Urban Herbal. What we didn't know was that the owner (William Varney) sold the herb farm back in 2007 but had some land adjacent to it and opened up Urban Herbal in 2010. I know that mid-February is not the time to visit if you want to see the garden in it's full glory, however the gift shop & labyrinth makes it worth the trip. We parked in the private lot and headed towards the garden where we were warmly greeted by William. He escorted us to his gift shop and I was so amazed at the variety of products he created to stock the shelves in this little store. From infused oils, herbal soaps, bath vinegars, bath salts/scrubs & lotions for the body, pet care to herbs for the grill, vinegars & seasonings for the palate, the offerings were mind boggling. William's knowledge was impressive to say the least and we were very happy that we got to spend some time talking with him personally, picking his brain. I ended up purchasing some incense, detoxifying body oil (juniper, geranium & grapefruit), lavendar/mint home fragrance, eucalyptus home fragrance, Herbs de Povence, lavendar/champagne vinegar & balsamic coffee/fig vinegar. After our purchases, William escorted us to the back garden. It was really wonderful to let my mind wander & meditate while I walked the labyrinth. William mentioned that he will begin workshops this spring. I am fuzzy on the details but he did mention that they will be posted on his website soon. I am truly happy that I was able to meet William. He is such a delight and has a wonderful, positive energy. I left Urban Herbal feeling refreshed & content. Definitely worth a return trip!

Many of the blends that they have are rather unique and I haven't been able to find a comparable product. I cook A LOT and go through a lot of seasonings on a regular basis. Prior to realizing that they had an online store, I was relegated to buying only what I coulld find of theirs on the local store shelf, the online buying has really opened things up for me. Speaking of the online store. The layout of the website makes it simple to navigate and purchase items, the shipping is fast, and out of my MANY orders, there hasn't been a mistake made. On the off chance that something is on backorder, they will let you know and it generally gets to you within the next few days. Finally, lets discuss what makes or breaks a company; customer service. As stated above, they really do a great job, but I made a mistake a few orders ago and needed to add something to my existing order, so I sent an email to them and asked if it was too late to add the extra 2 items. I had a reply within minutes and they were able to add them. So, if you haven't tried their stuff, I highly recommend that you do so, this Texas guy loves what they have!
