This place was a cute little find here inside Rivercenter mall. Just outside the food court area next door to Marble Slab. The owner was extremely sweet and helpful, and I was able to get some great spices for our home as well as a great little tea sample gift pack for my mom for Christmas. Can't wait to try these spices. Heads up, it is a tad pricey, but I knew that going in. You can also order online, so check out their Instagram. Before going on a riverboat cruise, my sister and brother in law wanted to stop by this tea shop. What a gem! They sell all sorts of unique spice blends and tea blends. We were able to smell all the different tea blends, and then order a freshly brewed cup of tea to go. My sister ordered a blend with chocolate, my brother in law ordered one with jasmine and coconut, and my husband got an Earl Grey creme. I would highly recommend this shop for any tea lover, as well as anyone who truly enjoys cooking with different spices! There's something for everyone's palate. read more

I love spice and tea shops. I first found Spice and Tea Exchange in Portland in 2010, and have been an online customer from the corporate HQ in Florida ever since. Each store is a franchise. I did not even realize there was one in San Antonio, but ran into it accidentally while wandering around in the Rivercenter shops because the sun was comforting and the outside air was chilly (as was the temperature in the convention center). I found a lot of my favorites as well as other blends I had not seen. I ended up buying five different spice blends. The service was very friendly. Love, love, love this place. Here they offer more than 140 spices, over 80 hand mixed blends, naturally-flavored sugars, unique salts, and delicious teas! The store is super nice and not huge at all and the customer service was great. I decided to buy a delicious white tea blend with hibiscus and some other herbs I can't remember the name! Such a cool place. When you walk in the door you can immediately smell a blend of the spices and teas. The have someone on hand to make you a tea to-go available for purchase. The service was great and the prices were very reasonable. Besides many many different tea varieties to choose from, they also have spices such as a various sea salts and blends of spices for dishes like carne asada or BBQ rubs. You know you're getting old when flavored sugars and unique cooking spices get you excited! That being said this was my favorite store in the Riverwalk area. The owner and her daughter were so sweet and helped me and my friends pick out gifts for the hard to buy for people in our lives! We walked in here after getting chocolates at the store next door. We did an initial glance at the first few shelves and picked up a few things. Thinking we were done we went to talk with the owner. She was so kind and helped us find thing we didn't think were available in the store. While my friend was chatting with her I discovered the flavored sugars and decorative spoons. I decided to swing by over the weekend as I have been trying to get into tea to reduce my coffee intake. I am someone with no knowledge of tea whatsoever, and not a huge fan of the few I have tasted over the years. First of all, this shop is a delight to walk into! They have such a wide array of teas, sugars, salts, spices, and custom blends. They also have a number of tea infusers, teapots, kettles, gift sets, etc. Ari was able to answer all of my questions and recommend a handful of teas that may help ease the transition from coffee to tea. I loved being able to smell all of the teas and they also had a neat booklet that described the teas aroma, flavor, steeping instructions etc. I took home mango tango, coconut oolong, apricot ginger, & a specialty dessert mixture of hazelnut cookie, emperors chai, & cinnamon sugar. So far I have tried the mango tango and it was absolutely delicious! I very much appreciate that teach tea comes with specific steeping instructions (serving size, water temperature & steeping time) because I would not have any clue otherwise. I am very much looking forward to trying the rest of the teas I purchased and then returning to grab some new flavors. P.S. they have monk fruit sugar which is a sugar alternative that is diabetic safe! read more

I wish I could give this place more stars! I am so glad that I found it. I have recently been trying lots of loose leaf teas and someone in a fb group posted about The Spice & Tea exchange. Lucky for me, I work within a short walking distance so I finally made the journey out today. So happy that I did! Gloria was super helpful in making recommendations, and I am not going to lie, I wanted to try everything so I am sure that helped. :) I went in with the intent of only getting tea but also ended up getting some spice blends and sugars to try. I am drinking the coconut oolong now and the smell is amazing, the taste is even better. I liked that I could smell everything and even try a few, since they were spices and sugar. I will definitely be going back, and I have to say I am looking forward to trying the blood-orange smoothie herbal tea tonight because it smells A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I saw the name, I came to conquer. I'm a tea fanatic. I'm also a spice fanatic annnnd also a infused sugar fanatic. Lol. If you are one or all of the above...enter! The staff was very attentive and patient. They offered me samples of certain spices, suggestions, and noted what their favorite and most popular spices were. I loved that they didn't hawk my ass down or made me feel like I wanted to shoe them away. I purchased a few bags of their loose leaf tea, a black truffle salt that I'm dying to use...and their lemon sugar which will go great with my tea. If you would like spices, sugar, or loose tea in a size other than the ones they have bagged up all ready...just let them know and they'll take care of you. My sister-in-law wanted 3oz of something and they bagged one up for her with no problem. Also, the cashier told me their teas brew strong so you could actually double-brew to make another cup. Shibby! I've all ready brewed the coconut oolong tea, and it was nice and fragrant. Twas not overwhelming in coconut taste nor smell which I like because I'm not super pumped about coconut...types the person who grew up around coconut trees. Only reason why I chose it is because the husband is. The lemon sugar I got, again, infused beautifully. Not overly lemon-nee and not overly sweet. I'm excited to try the other teas when the mood fits for them. This place is single stroller friendly on a slow day. If it's busy in there...better tag your spouse for outside stroller duty. Watch the kids because there are def things the kids could swipe and break. Highly recommend while in the vicinity. If there isn't much places like such in the areas surrounding San Antonio, I say it'd be worth the drive IF you are such a fanatic. Enjoy! read more

I would give 0 stars if possible. I hate doing this to small businesses but this woman was extremely rude to myself and other customers who walked into her store. Example: I used an app called "bounce" to have my luggage stored in this business while I grabbed lunch and hit the River walk before the airport. When I walked in the woman immediately said "I'm busy, you need to wait." I never even said a word I was just waiting patiently. After about a half hour she got to me and another customer came in where she said the exact same thing to this customer. Ultimately I went to tag my luggage that I paid for and the employee told me they don't use "bounce" anymore so she can't hold my luggage. I had enough at this point and just left. read more

Upon arrival the owner was extremely rude and told us "well you should just look around because it's going to be a while". We waited twenty minutes (there was one other customer in the store only). When it was our turn we showed her our confirmation and she pretended like they don't do that anymore. Rudely told me to listen to her.
