Disappointing. While traveling we try local (who needs another franchise lunch. Right?) Saw a place a bit off the interstate with sandwiches and soups - basic for lunch, right? And with a name like Spiced Apple it had promise. Ok, so we arrived after 1:00p but were disappointed to see every one of the staff cleaning while we were eating. Who wants a waitress to approach your table with a Swiffer in hand? Definitely a 'get on out of here vibe.' My tomato soup was quite good (lots of milk/cream). Well seasoned. The hubs had a mushroom/Brie soup he liked but he said the sandwich was 'meh' even with 2 packets of Boars Head spicy mustard (10 points for Boars Head tho). My salad plate featured a scoop of chicken salad and a scoop of potato salad and I honestly couldn't tell the difference between the two. Pretty sure they used an entire jar of mayo to make it! No flavor. On a bed of greens with sliced tomatoes and a dill spear. We didn't try the desserts but they looked interesting. We've found great gems over the years of travel. We just had a company Christmas lunch here at Southwind Carpet and ordered box lunches for everyone and it was delicious! Have been there for lunch on several occasions, but this was lunch for 31 people and they pulled it off without a hitch. Everything was ready and waiting for me to pick up, the sandwiches were huge (as usual!) and everyone loved the potato salad! Thanks again and this is now our new Christmas tradition! read more

I've been here a few times now. They get busy, so show up early. The service is fast and very friendly. Thy are overwhelmed sometimes just due to shear volume. The food has been pretty good and I've ordered different things each time. I do want to try their soups, but with time I'll get there. I just don't care for their soup and sandwich selections. The soups I'll try when it's cooler and I'll order it by the bowl. The portions are pretty healthy. Most People will be full after eating here. I didn't even finish my sandwich today. read more

This place is a gem! Took a client here for lunch and it was really good. The staff is very pleasant however they are firm with their communication and restaurant rule: They don't seat you unless everyone in your party is there....Period. I'm fine with that so just putting it out there. The food is delicious and they have pies and cakes to die for. I had the Rueben which was tasty. The chicken salad and pimento cheese salad looked yummy. One sandwich that I want to try is the pimento cheese, with bacon and tomato, wow it looked so good. Sandwiches and salads are very good. Reasonable prices. Not fast paced with service, but food is worth the wait.

Most bread were baked daily along with pies, cakes, etc. They give away leftover bake goods which I appreciate because they don't keep day old bake goods; ie quality. Had lunch here service was great. Ask for Katie. Egg salad with olive was really good. Wife had a simple turkey sandwich with fresh rye. Daughter had a big old portion of BLT. We were very satisfied with our find in Dalton GA. Only down side, they closed on weekends. read more

I know I've already review the Spiced Apple, but I had to add this. I'm really not a soup person, in fact, I never eat soup. But during a recent visit, the server mentioned that one of the day's soups was a beer cheese soup. Intrigued, I asked for a sample. All I can say is WOW! Best soup I've ever had. Cheesy, beery (if that's not really a word, it is now), garlicy. Yum. Do yourself a favor - if you stop in and beer cheese soup is on the menu - get some! read more

Two words: Praline Pie!!!!!!! The pie is to die for like I've never tasted something so good and I don't even like pie! The sandwiches are good I prefer to get my sandwich on a hoagie roll or something because they use normal everyday sandwich bread and there is too much meat and other things on there for those two flimsy pieces of bread.. it falls apart. Also it is expensive for a sandwich but pretty good so I pay it! The skinny lady who works at the front desk and runs the place is SO RUDE to EVERYONE I want to give it 1 star because of her but I don't wanna lie to people about how good the food is and everyone else is pretty nice. But she is literally the worst! The definition of a B word people I know don't go there anymore because of her but dang is that pie good. LOL! read more

Very good sandwiches! Waittresses are very nice. I always get a slice of delicious pie. The souls are always delicious. There is a very nice atmosphere. It's crowded around lunchtime but is expected from a good place. Definitely eat here for lunch or if you're passing through town and need a bite. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

The food is great but the lady at the register is a bully to her employees and hateful to her customers. Also this is not the place to go if your department is calling in multiple orders because the lady at the register will not separate them and wants them to be paid together. I would not recommend going unless a sandwich and a bad attitude is what you're looking for. read more

Just finished a wonderful lunch. We arrived after 12 and was worried about getting a seat. Happily, we were seated with in 5 minutes had our order taken and food to the table in under 10 mins. This is an excellent sandwich shop for the dining selections and ambience.....Just not for the employees. I have only had one waitress at this resteraunt that provided good service. The owner and cohorts are at best rude....and at worst just down right ugly to their customers. If you are ever in Dalton, GA you have to drop by the Spiced Apple for lunch. There is not another Spiced Apple in the world. This is a sandwich hustlin joint, do you hear me? Any kind of sandwich you want, they got it. Any kind of salad too. You like Egg & Olive salad (that's not a Southern thing is it?) You like Chicken Salad? You have never had Chicken Salad like this. I think the secret is the chicken broth. Mrs. Kate Sosbee won't tell you so don't ask. She has a certain attitude at times. Kind of like the soup Nazi, but it only adds to the ambience, but Lord...we don't need that attitude all the time honey!! They have fresh made rolls you can slather the chicken salad on YUMEE-or the sandwich, if you prefer, is all beat down with butter and grilled to perfection...save me now Lord. Try the trio plate and get the Potato Salad and a double portion of Chicken Salad. She also makes an excellent Peanut Butter Pie, I am told. Since I hate Peanut Butter, I would not know. This was my first visit to this location. I'm from out of town and my aunt suggested we go for lunch. They are open until 2:30 and we arrived at 1:45, by 2 o'clock they were already vacuuming, moving around the chairs, and pushing furniture out of the way while customers were coming in to dine. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and it was great! However, when it came time to pay the blonde gal behind the counter decided she couldn't come to the cash register. Our waitress, who was very kind, kindly informed the cash register girl several times that there were guests waiting to pay. The girl never came to the register, so patiently I returned back to my table and used the restroom before I left. I then came up a 2nd time and the cash register girl STILL would not come to the front. FINALLY, she came after waiting again. I guess she was baking a pie in the back and couldn't be disturbed. She never made eye contact with me, or asked me how my dining experience was. In fact, she seemed annoyed that she had to come to the front. Maybe she's related to someone at the restaurant and that's how she still has a job. I think this is poor customer service to make your customers wait at the front for an extended period while they're waiting to pay and get out of the restaurant. NOT IMPRESSED. read more

The service each time was great & despite the full parking lot and line we didn't have to wait long (plus we were acknowledged while we were waiting, huge plus!). Up until today, I was a common Spiced Apple customer. But after the experience my mom had today, I will never be returning. The waitress was incredibly kind. The owner, however, was an extremely rude and pretentious butthole. She ordered the special German Knockwurst. After living in Germany for a few years, she was excited to have german food. She only had one bite and immediately sent it back. The sauerkraut was gross and the sausage wasn't very good either. So, she instead ordered a chicken salad. When going to the register, she was then informed by the owner that she had to pay for both sandwiches because she "cant just taste the food and send it back, there was nothing wrong with it." As a business professional, you would think that he would instead apologize for the inconvenience as most restaurants would. She in no means was attempting to get a free meal, so why would he even need to make comments about how she was "in the wrong". Terrible customer service to obtain and I have NEVER seen a restaurant with such little class when it comes to correcting an issue. read more

My family loves this place. My kids ask for it often and are quite disappointed if we can't go--they aren't open most nights, so it is hard for us to get there before they close during the week, but when we do it is a real treat for them. I haven't had a sandwich, soup, salad, or dessert there that I didn't like! And they have some unique sandwiches, not just your average ham and turkey. My husband likes one that is grilled white bread, peanut butter, marshmallow creme, and bacon, and he asks them to add banana! Messy but heavenly. The place is ALWAYS packed and loud and difficult at times to get in. I get irritated by their policy--no one sits until your whole party sits--but the place is tiny so while I am annoyed by the policy I totally understand it. As for the other reviews complaining about the staff--I only half-way agree: I have heard the ladies get snippy and hateful with each other, but they are ALWAYS super nice to my family and myself. Even when they are busy they take the time to talk to us and usually give my kids candy after we pay, which of course, puts smiles on their faces. I wish they would move to a bigger location (much bigger!) and open at night more days than just Friday, but other than that I love the Spiced Apple! read more
