It appears that it may be owned and/or managed by someone local--read that Vacasa bought it from Brian, the original owner, but that it was sold to someone else of late. Anyway, Angela is very kind and accommodating, the rooms are remodeled, clean, comfortable, you can actually cook in the kitchen, and your dogs are welcome here. Landscaping has been improved as well. Sand Dune is a comfortable spot that feels mostly like home.

They have a nice VHS, book, and game library. They also have bikes to borrow which we use so we can run our dog. There is the usual cable TV, coffee, fridge, microwave in the room. The rooms are very clean. The back of the motel has the cutest sitting area with nice chairs and grass to lay in, which we discovered when we had the "honey moon" suite. This place is so comfortable :)

The room smelled like animals and after turning on all the lights, we promptly exited. We did not consider unloading the car. Thankfully the sister property, The Inn at Manzanita, had space for our 3-night stay in mid July 2026. Arrangements were confirmed, at the going rate, and we were thankful for the switch as the staff was great. And worth every dollar. Thank you for taking care of us. Hot Tip: Call and speak directly with the Front Office Staff before booking, as I learned that the renovations are "in process" but the standard at The Spinn was substandard and we will not return to The Spinn in its current, upgraded state-- no matter how "retro-cute" they try to make it sound.

The gas fireplace…read moredidn't work (no propane), the back porch lights and outlets were out, making it unsafe to use the hot tub or get to the firepit at night. We reported everything -- maintenance came, confirmed the issues, but nothing was fixed and no one followed up. I emailed Vacasa twice with no response. For the price we paid, we expected a safe and functional space. Wouldn't book with them again based on this experience.

They get a renter to sign a lease and don't make sure lease rules are followed and overall degrade the safety of communities. Ask Vacasa how many times they have met with neighbors or Rockaway leaders to ensure that our community and neighborhoods are kept safe and peaceful. The answer is zero. Molly your response is not true, VACASA does not make sure rules are followed. They are broken all the time and VACASA does nothing.
