The Service was great . I was kindly greeted at the door and politely asked my ID. Also, had to play pool with nice folks.

Would give this place 6 stars if only that tall, dark, and handsome bouncer who threw me a FREE T-SHIRT from up on the bar could move his hips a little better.

Walking in, you're greeted with the widest array of signage. At first the restaurant/bar seems…read moresmall, unassuming even. Walking into the back, you realize just how massive the space is. The front area is more of a dive bar feel, the back room more of a restaurant feel, with a sweet little courtyard adding to the diversity of space. Upstaris there are pool tables, both rented hourly as well as coin operated. I was disappointed that the cider was no longer on tap, but C'est La Vie. The cocktails were refreshing, and man, let me tell you... the steak skewers... YUM. I had zero expectation of what my tastebuds were going to feel, once the bartender put a bottle of A-1 on the bar. That's NEVER a good sign. Why anyone would sully these little morsels of deliciousness with A-1 is beyond me. They were freaking awesome.

My cheeseburger was a little bland and rubbery, but fine. The bun was good as was the lettuce, which are two little things I appreciate on a burger. I can't stand getting a slimy bedsheet of old lettuce over my burger. The cornbread was really good, very sweet. I ordered a Juice Bomb as well, always a solid choice. Service was good. I thought the burger was pricy for what I got, but it is an expensive little town in general.

Pearl Street, you have found a way to ruin the Hold Steady. I'm not even mad, I'm amazed…read more Stuffy, overpriced beer (cheapest beer a $5.50 bud? methinksnot), TERRIBLE sound and a butt ugly look. I love GA rooms, but Pearl Street is an insult to music venues everywhere

My experience at this venue has more to do with the unacceptable behavior of the crowd, vs. the…read morevenue itself. That being said--I believe the management and security need to take some measures to better ensure the safety of concert goers. I don't mind an exuberant crowd, I enjoy the energy of the shared experience. I don't mind dancing and pogoing up and down or a little crowd surfing so long as nobody kicks me in the face. What I do mind is people that mistake moshing with slam dancing and use it to violently hurt people. It seems to attract a big college crowd, and among them was a faction of young men behaving badly. The men seemed set on improving their line of sight and proximity to the stage by literally slamming themselves into the people in front of them, in some cases knocking them down, while trying to pretend that it was some socially acceptable form of moshing. It was violence pure and simple and aimed at physically bullying people that had arrived earlier to ensure a good viewing spot. I came away from this concert literally bruised and battered and feeling like I had suffered the kind of whiplash usually experienced in a car accident. I'm a petite five foot tall woman--had I been less physically fit and able to stand my ground, I would have had to have moved off to the dark recesses of this place where I wouldn't have stood a blind man's chance of seeing anything on stage. I had to shove people off of me and brace myself so as not to be knocked to the floor. Repeatedly. Maybe I am used to Boston clubs where security does not allow crowd surfing or moshing. Perhaps concertgoers in the city are just better behaved. The mood on the floor was ugly. I did not feel able to go to the bar for a drink or to visit the rest rooms as I feared I would be unable to make my way back to join the rest of my party. It can't be good for a venues business if patrons are not able to make it to the bar and back. The friend of a girl near us went to the bathroom and was never seen again--unable to make it back through the crowds. I can't say much about the venue. It was so dark and packed with people that I could not see much. The sound quality for the opening band sounded like crap and I feared that would be the case for the headliner, but fortunately it was not. I found no faults with the quality of the sound. The ticket takers and employees that I saw at the front when I entered all seemed like genuine people, friendly and professional. I'd have like to have seen some security inside putting the kibosh on some of the physicality on the floor. I really didn't need guys the size of football linebackers trying to launch me repeatedly. I made it quite clear to them that they were hurting me and they could not have cared less. I have no plans to return to this venue again. I did not feel safe. At all.
