We were a pretty large group of 7 so the wait was understandable, though it was hot out. There is an awning that provides sufficient shade, and we cooled off as we ate. Ambiance overall is what you would expect for a lakeside eatery. The avocado fries were a good appetizer and probably the best thing I ate here, but it's a pretty small plate for $15. The rest of the food took quite a long time to come out, and honestly, it was disappointing after a long day at the lake. The tofu rice bowl had stellar crispy tofu and decent sauce, but all the greens were bone dry and tasteless. Similarly, the fish tacos were decent but the tortilla chips tasted exactly as you would expect if they came straight out of the bag. Great little spot on the water, perfect for a quick lunch spot! All outdoor seating- tables and bar seating. Great selection of food and drinks! Came for lunch and had a tasty meal with amazing service! I had the fish tacos, with the side of chips and salsa. Fish was crispy and the cabbage with their sauce was fantastic! 2 tacos in a meal and it's enough to fill you up! (Or have to take 1 to go like I did). Can't beat a spot on the water! Went here after a long day on our boat and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with my experience I ordered the tuna bowl and a lobster roll they didn't have it with butter only but it's fine because everything was good and fresh and we had a nice waiter who was quick and attentive. The View is the best paet of this place. The service was fine until we got our appatizer. It was burnt. I let our server know that we would not be eating our hush puppies because there were burnt. She said sorry about that and took them away. Our food came out and was decent except for the long pieces of hair in my Philly sandwich. I just stopped eating it because it probably wasnt intentional. We didn't Our food not see our waitress again til we got our check. I sat for 20 minutes with an empty glass and wanted and another drink but was never asked. The kicker was that were never given a bill she just asked how we were paying. we paid and got the receipt were we saw we were still charged for our burnt food. Went here for a late lunch on a Sunday and was surprised to see how many people were there. It's a great waterfront atmosphere, and we were pleased by how comfortable the temperature was. The waitress was quick to come get our drink orders, appetizer, and kid menu orders. I got the grapefruit spritzer, and I just need to remind myself that I'm always underwhelmed by these types of drinks. Feels like I could just get a flavored seltzer water instead. A friend got the maple lemonade and it was fine, pretty tart. For our appetizer we ordered the fried avocado and we were very impressed by how well it was done. There was a nice creaminess to it and the sauce was the highlight. The kids chicken tenders and fries also went over well. They clearly know what they're doing with the fryer as everything was crisp, and didn't feel greasy. For the rest of us for main food we got the fish tacos, lobster roll, and coney dogs. One individual wanted the salmon bowl, but they were unfortunately out of salmon. The fish tacos were fine, but the fish itself felt a little dry. I ended up adding some of the sauce from the fried avocado to help. The chips and salsa that it came with were also just average and it would have been nicer if it came with a salad. The lobster roll was fine, but smaller than expected. It did have a well balanced taste though. The greens it came with were kind of sad; both smothered in dressing and no flavor from dressing. The coney dogs were also fine. Really we got them as a backup if the children didn't like the chicken. Overall, the place is kind of pricey for the food you get, but I also get that you're paying for the view and atmosphere. The staff were very nice and food did come out quick though. read more

Tried Spot on the Dock this afternoon with a friend and we each got the lobster roll. It was truly one of the best lobster rolls I've ever had in the state of Vermont-- even better than some I've had on the coast. Service was good, wasn't terribly busy when we went so things moved along pretty quickly. The view/ambiance is really nice, it almost makes you forget you're in Burlington. If you're in the mood for a lobster roll, definitely give this Spot a try! read more

Views were really cool in spite of the unfortunate rainy weather. We ordered the coconut shrimp (delicious) and guacamole bites (okay), and I ordered a special of the day chicken sandwich, which I felt I could have made at home with more flavor. The staff was kind, and I felt bad for all of them due to the poor weather. Super great spot for views and atmosphere. The server came up super frequently to ask if we wanted to close our which sort of was a lot at some points. The ranch water was great! Terrible food and sub par service. I've tried several times to like something about this place other than the view - it's close to impossible. They served a mojito that had to be the worst I've ever tried because it tasted like nothing except carbonated sweetened water. A salad that cost $15+ which was literally just lettuce a few tiny chopped pieces of green and red pepper and then HALF FROZEN mango. Do yourself a favor and only come here if you want a good view of the lake. read more

Solid 3 stars, just like Yelp determined. I will say that their outdoor seating area, specifically the lounge couches are very cool and a great place to hang out. However, minimal shading on hot days and we suffered. We came on a Sunday around lunch time and it was quite busy, but we were able to sit right away. Service was somewhere between mediocre and poor. The gal taking care of us seemed like she definitely didn't want to be there. We ordered drinks, which were all pretty good. I tried both their regular mojito and their frozen mojito. The frozen mojito was super refreshing and not overly sweet. As an app, we tried the avocado fries, which were good, but the dipping sauce wasn't the right one. Something more cooling would have been better, but I did love the crispy-ness. Entrees were mediocre. I got the fish tacos which are called something different on the menu. Fish was a bit soggy and a little fishy. Pricing is high, but what else would we expect on the water? Overall, I would come back for drinks and atmosphere, but it wouldn't be a first choice for food. read more

An amazing spot to enjoy the water, soak in the sun and watch the boats on a nice summer day. They are located away from the central Church street tourist area, so it is peaceful also. Love the extra big umbrellas that provide cool pools of shade so you don't have to stay in the sun for the whole time. Friendly and helpful staff make sure you get everything you want. I had a beer and the calamari, as it was early. I really liked my food choice as they included garnish the dish liberally with green onions and red pickled peppers. These two additions elevated the typical greasy app to a whole new level of delicious. My friends had full meals and their lobster rolls were one of the best they've ever had. There is a lot of lobster in the roll! Definitely recommend. The people watching is interesting also. read more

I suppose it's ok if you just want drinks and pretty lakeside views but the food was unimpressive and the choices very limited. The outside dining space is huge and has several "rooms" with different feels, all with nice views of the Burlington harbor area. I had fish tacos. The portion was 2, with charred flour tortillas, a whole fish filet, pico de gallo, picked onions, chipotle aioli. I'd prefer corn tortillas but that's just me. The real problem was the fish: an unappealing gray-brown in appearance; probably a failed attempt at a batter which had gone soggy. A slight "fishy" odor so it was not the freshest. Not bad but not exactly "catch of the day" either. I asked what kind of fish. (Not described on the menu; that's a bad sign.) Tilapia! How lame! It came with chips and salsa. Boring. I opted for french fries instead for a $3 surcharge which I thought was excessive. They were good however and had their skins. The wife had a falafel burger which was monotonous in texture: The falafel had the consistency of bread so it was like eating a bread sandwich! Falafel is tricky but they need to figure out how to make it crunchy so it doesn't feel like bread between slices of bread. We had drinks: A margarita for me and Aperol Spritz for her. Ok, not memorable, and served on the rocks in plastic glasses. I don't like plastic glasses. Server was fine, and the pacing was reasonable. Back to the dining area: it was very sunny and bright. Not their fault obviously. There are no umbrellas but there are sun shades on the sides. Customers did not agree with staff: The shades were open, a customer closed them (thank you!), and soon a staff member came and opened them again. (Why?) 2 stars food, 4 service, 4 setting. But in the end the food was the most important factor and it was disappointing in both preparation and variety. Next time I'll look for a place with great views AND great food. read more

I haven't been here for a couple of years because the service was so bad. I decided to give it another try last weekend. It started off well, we planned on a snack and a beverage or two. Chips and salsa/queso/guacamole were good. Tortilla chips from a bag (fine) and salsa from a jar (fine too but why?). Honestly I'd go back for that and the view. The service started off well enough but then it was like they forgot about us. The same thing happened to the people next to us, The last time I was there, no one even came to our table, so this was a slight improvement. Anyway, we had to go to the bar and ask for our bill. I know that some businesses are struggling, if Spot on the Dock is, poor management they is the cause. We would have had another cocktail, probably more food. When we left there were 9 or more front of house staff members in a glass enclosed room hanging out. read more

This place is quite literally a spot on a dock. Being on the lake with the views makes this place a great place for dinner or even just drinks. The drinks are delicious and the food was accommodating to our gluten free diets. 10/10 would dine again. read more

We are generally happy people, so we didn't make a stink, but I'm sure if we said something they would've replaced it immediately. Just had dinner tonight and was absolutely horrible. I've been here before and was super good but since then they have changed the menu and the overall quality of the food because now it's awful. Got the Salmon Grain bowl and the grain was burnt and the salmon had no seasoning. The Coney Island Hot Dog had no beans in the chili and was straight up bad. Never going back here again. The clam chowder is where it gets it's gold. 5/5 for the clam chowder. The consistency, the flavor... everything eas phenomenal The Ceasar salad was HUGE. For $12 you could easily eat as an entree option or share with the table it's that big. Baked fish was swimming in butter and baked to perfection. The Spot on the Dock is all about the view of the lake, breeze from the lake and good service. Being a gluten free eater I usually break my no gluten rule for the avocado fries here. This year it's not only a name change, to guacamole bites, but they tasted like all they did was open a box and fry, a processed food. Definitely not worth eating. So disappointed. read more

Went for dinner 7/13/24. The views are wonderful as was the service. The food wasn't so great. We started with nachos. The tortilla chips were a brownish color and so thick they were hard to bite and chew. The cheese was a liquid queso type cheese. Generous amount of sour cream and quac ($3) but hardly any pico. Would not recommend. Husband had tacos which he said were very good. Friend has coconut shrimp which she enjoyed though I thought they were supery oily. I had a smash burger. Burger was small and the French fries were awful- lukewarm and soggy. I didn't even eat them, they were that unappealing. Was a disappointment! read more
