    Strawberry beet salad

LOVED our experience at Gold. The menu was perfection - we literally wanted one of everything, but being only 2 people, we enlisted our server to help us make the difficult decision on what not to order. We started with mocktails - (THANK YOU for having several options!) and antipasti - perfection. We then shared the Brussels sprouts, eggplant and farfalle, and the strawberry and beet salad. The portions were larger than expected - no complaints! The Brussels and farfalle were out of this world. The salad was good - great even - but pales in comparison to the other two dishes. For dessert, we went with the zeppole and panna cotta - no notes. Would eat it all again tomorrow. And all that for $100!

Great atmosphere, delicious food and cocktails, and stellar service! Highly recommend. We will be back!

Atmosphere is great, it's well lit inside and not too loud so you can easily hear those you're dining with. All of the food we ordered was delicious. We got the burrata salad which could've been a little bigger and had more balsamic, but overall it was fresh, well flavored, and not too heavy before getting our entrees. We got the scallops over risotto pancakes with caramelized butternut squash. The scallops were perfectly cooked, everything well flavored. Despite LOVI NY scallops, my favorite part of dish were risotto pancakes. Also got the homemade ravioli (spinach and ricotta) which were delicious. For cocktails got the aperol, bourbon, aquafaba and bitters drink (cocktails only $13!!) and it was delicious and like a not too sweet dessert in a cup. All staff were pleasant and helpful. Overall great first experience here. Will come back again and will recommend to others! PARKING Only "negative" thing I can say was that it was a little tricky to find parking because there's no reserved parking area for customers so you need to find something on the street. And the closest parking lot seems like an option but when you turn it it says tenant parking only all others towed.

Absolutely loved this little gem of a place. The service was excellent and each dish was bursting with flavor and well balanced not too much fat or salt just the right amount for richness. The martini was crisp and wine was on point for the varied dishes. Oysters were cold briny and perfect mouthful. Arancini, gnocchi and ravioli were all perfect bites of summer freshness. Portion sizes are generous and overall a well-priced menu.

I cannot wait to go back. This place is on the smaller side. Highly recommend a reservation. The tables nearest the door have no barrier from the gusts when people open the door, so during winter these are probably pretty cold seats. I don't know if they could put up a divider to protect that a little, but truly that is only downside. I believe the bar seats 6 so it's really on the small side, but the crafted drinks coming from it looked amazing. I had a delicious pasta paired with wine for their Tuesday special. We started with a share small plate, each had a pasta, and shared dessert. Each option was wonderful. Staff was friendly and helpful. Everyone around us seemed to be enjoying as well. I have recommended this place to friends and they all have reported back really enjoying as well. They have access to a shared parking lot so off street parking is available too! Follow them on IG to see nightly specials and menu options!

We had the Margherita, Capricciosa, Caesar salad, and the Nutella pizza and flourless cake for dessert. Kids devoured their Margherita slices and we really enjoyed the acidic, salty, roasted, crusty, chewy, fluffy, perfectly balanced notes of the artichoke, olive, tomato, and cheese Capriciossa. I know Caesar is a boring choice but sometimes the stomach wants what it wants, and this one was worth noting; I especially enjoyed the little nub of chewy pizza dough bread with it. I got it anchovy-less, because I don't love crunching on the little dudes, personally. Accessible entrance for wheels is around the back via a ramp in the alley--there's a doorbell for entry. They provided crayons and a coloring sheet for kids which always wins me over instantly, and were highly aware and educated around food allergies and their menu. 5/5 and an easy recommendation all around.

It didn't take long to identify the state's core competencies: Producing world-class cheese Perfecting brick oven pizza Aggressively curating a very specific political vibe Curiously, only two of those things are edible, and unfortunately, you can't get pizza without being reminded of the third. Also worth noting: I'm not convinced any other style of pizza exists in Vermont. If it's not artisanal, wood-fired, and served on a reclaimed barn board, it apparently doesn't make the cut. So naturally, my brain locked in and I ate pizza two nights in a row like a creature of habit. Night 1: Pizzeria Verità Parking was...aspirationally convenient. After navigating downtown Burlington, which feels like a live-action sociology thesis, I made it inside. Let's address the elephant in the room: the price. With tip, I dropped nearly $30 for what amounted to a personal-sized pepperoni pizza that politely declined to fill me up. I assume part of the cost goes toward sourcing ethically massaged tomatoes or ensuring the mozzarella had a fulfilling upbringing. Now, to be fair, the pizza was excellent. Truly. Great crust, quality ingredients, clearly crafted by someone who cares deeply about their art. But the value? That's where things get a little...Vermont. Delicious? Absolutely. Filling? Not quite. Financially efficient? Only if you measure wealth in vibes. I went in skeptical, left impressed, and still had to consider a second dinner.

One came. Fast forward 20 minutes; the remaining two came out. The appetizer dishes were never cleared. They hung around until we decided not to have desert! The appetizers were underwhelming; how can you screw up a Caesar salad? The main courses disappointed in many ways. The dishes were serverd luke warm. Mussels were dehydrated on top of the heap and obvioulsy sat under a heat map. The steaks were cooked well but accompaniments were cold, cool, or barely warm; take your pick none were appetizing. The plates were stone cold which didn't help. Finally after dinner was served and eaten and plates cleared for deserts we did not order the remaining plates and debis were cleared from the table. Not good. Not professional. Not worth the money. The wines were good. The beer was good. Dinner came to $275 plus another $60 tip. It wasn't worth it. There is clealry issues in the kitchen and staff. They were simply not into it. I would not come back. If you want a French dinner look elsewhere or just don't try that in Burlington.

I told my husband that there was a review saying there was some rude people that work here and we absolutely disagree with that reviewer. We walked in and were immediately asked if we were picking up an order or staying to eat. The young lady told us to choose a table because they weren't very busy at the time and only 2 other couples were there. There were a few young men behind the counter making orders up for people ordering take out and they seemed like they really enjoyed working there. They were laughing and smiling the entire time we were there. It made the place feel very homey. My husband ordered a 12 inch cheese pizza in hopes that it would live up to his love of a good New York City pizza. He grew up there. Papa Frank knows how to make a pizza!! My husband found his new pizza place and we will be always ordering pizza from here. He absolutely loved it and even said it's the best pizza in Vermont. We've had pizza from absolutely everywhere. As for myself I ordered the eggplant parmigiana. It was fantastic and came with just the right amount of pasta and sauce on the side. The eggplant was very good and my only complaint, which isn't really a complaint because, it's just the way I prefer my eggplant, sliced a little bit thicker. Regardless it tasted so delicious and I didn't leave any on the plate. I even ordered a keylime pie to take home and boy do I want more of that! Key lime is my absolute favorite but I am soooo picky with it. No need to worry here because it's some of the best I've ever had! Next time Im definitely ordering some cannoli's. Our waitress was amazing and not to bothersome as some can be. As we were walking out the door one of the young men behind the counter told us to have a great rest of our day. My husband said oh no that was so rude. (Jokingly) Papa Frank you've got yourself some loyal repeat customers now. We will definitely be coming back!! Thanks for an awesome meal!

They helped take our coats/hang them for us. We were always closely attended to and given time if more was needed. The homemade pasta dish we got with greens and mushrooms was fantastic! My bf liked the shrimp appetizer/smaller dish and we all liked the trout, but it seemed a little mushy/overcooked. Cons: loud/bad acoustics, dim, portion size(only for one specific dish) A little hard to hear inside when it's at peak capacity. Was at dinner with a group of four and it was quite hard to hear the person diagonally across from me the entire night. Lighting was a little too dim for my personal liking but others may not mind(for example, it was darker inside than it was outside at 6pm). Food was overall very good. The disappointments were a clam dish we couldn't even first find any clams in and then the two people who got them when we divided up the dish only got two each! And the side greens, seemed overcooked and were over-salted. Would definitely try it again would recommend to others.

Vermont, as best I can tell, excels at three things. Producing elite-level cheese, perfecting brick oven pizza, and fully committing to a very particular political personality. Two of those things directly benefit me, so I leaned in. One immediate observation. If you are looking for anything other than wood-fired, artisanal pizza, you may want to adjust expectations. That appears to be the law of the land. Naturally, I adapted by eating pizza two nights in a row. Night 2: Folino's Pizza The next night I pivoted and ended up at Folino's, which turned out to be the value correction I needed. I ordered the MK pizza, which comes topped with caramelized onions and impressively large pepperoni slices that do not believe in subtlety. The difference was immediate. I paid less than the night before and received a pizza that was easily twice the size. This one actually acknowledged that I had not eaten since breakfast. The caramelized onions added a great balance of sweetness, the pepperoni brought both flavor and coverage, and the overall product hit that ideal intersection of quality and quantity. This pizza was not just good, it was filling. I left satisfied and with leftovers, which later doubled as an elite cold hotel breakfast. That alone puts it in a different category. The atmosphere at Folino's was laid-back, clean, and refreshingly unpretentious. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I showed up earlier than I had said I would, fully expecting to be told to wait, but they immediately jumped into making my order without hesitation. The location has a slightly rough-around-the-edges feel, but that seems consistent with parts of Burlington. It adds a little unpredictability to the experience, which at this point felt on brand.
