I moved to the area from Texas where Mexican food is as easy to come by as Starbucks. I was overjoyed to find a local place doing legit Mexican food with fresh ingredients and delicious sauces. If you happen to stop by when the special is the Pork Colorado, don't even read the rest of the menu. If not, get the pork American taco or any of the burritos. I now eat here almost once a week and have NEVER had a bad (or less than great) meal from here. Prices are reasonable and they take call-ahead orders if they're not too busy to answer the phone. I've lived in Seaside for 3 years and the Stand is the best restaurant in town. Period. Excellent, friendly service - usually from the owner. Great prices. Fresh ingredients, many locally sourced. And the only good guacamole in town. Although I've never been to Mexico I don't think this would qualify as traditional Mexican fare. But it's not tex/mex either. It's a very Oregonian take on it. The nachos are great - I'd recommend the ones with roasted veggies. Burritos are excellent and can be served enchilada style - with sauce on top. Beans and rice are both vegetarian. The only minor drawback for me is the salsa. It's unique - fresh and chunky. I like to pour it on whatever I'm eating but just don't really enjoy it on chips. They have a recently acquired beer license and a small outdoor seating area, both of which make it an ideal place for a summer lunch. I believe they are closed weekends. You order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. It's not a huge place but you could probably fit a group of 10 or so if they're not too busy. If you agree with my rating you might want to try Left Coast Siesta in Manzanita too. They're my other favorite place on the coast for (semi-)Mexican. read more

Came here during a road trip with some good friends. Wasn't disappointed, but wasn't too ecstatic about the food either, especially when promised a 4.5 star experience. First off, there should be two $$, because though the portions are nice, you'll be spending over $10 to get full. Secondly, the food itself is good, but not great. I've definitely had better, but I've definitely had worse too. Solid, solid, pretty authentic place where you can't go wrong, and maybe in the context of the surrounding area, it's the best Mexican available. Really good and cheap Mexican food but you have to go early, they close at 5pm. We ordered a burrito, quesadillas, a couple tacos, which are enormous by the way, and some nachos and everything was food and fresh and flavorful. They are generous with the salsa and pico de gallo. Over on Holladay, there is a street taco fight brewing between the Stand and Guadalajara. The fact that the Stand is open past 7:00 is a cheap, but critical victory. The setup is no-frills. The seating is disorganized, and the bussing is woefully neglected. But WOW, do those tacos deliver. I got carnitas tacos & carne asada burrito. The tacos were stuffed with rich, dripping, flavorful fall-apart tender chunks of pork. Slightly oversalted, but scrumptious. The carne asada was charred perfectly. Absolutely the BEST Mexican food in Seaside! Freshly prepared, perfectly spiced, inexpensive, quick, and a locals favorite. They are open Monday - Friday, closing at 5pm, but you can call your order in, and pick it up within about 15 minutes if you want to take it home for dinner. My favorites there: Chicken Mole (Tuesdays only), Carne Asada Quesadilla, and the Nachos. Tammy and Jose Saucedo own the place, and their son-in-law Kevin runs the register, they are lovely people, who remember your favorites, and we try to eat there once a week. The customer service sucked. Maybe the guy was having a bad day, but it wasn't good. The burrito came out and wasn't wrapped well at all, I couldn't eat it like a burrito if I tried. Not open on weekends or evenings! Food is good as others have said. It's pretty cheap I think, especially for a beach town. I had the carne asada and the carnitas and both were delicious. After eating a lot of fried food on Oregon's north coast, this fresh Mexican menu was a welcome change. The enchilada sauce was yummy and the burrito was stuffed with freshly grilled seasonal veggies. The taco was wrapped in what seemed to be a homemade corn tortilla. Yum! We also arrived just before the lunch rush, so the wait wasn't long and we got a table. We'll definitely seek out this place on our next visit to Seaside. read more

Best mexican in Oregon. We've lived in LA, grew up in the Bay Area and now live in Oregon. Wherever we have lived we always had the mexican food scene wired. Call us mexican food "snobs", as we loathe "american" style mexican restaurants. Seriously . . . . . we are Gordon Ramsay-esque at bad mexican places. The Stand is great, authentic. That guy at the stove, Jose, must be a mexican witch! I believe him to be the owner. Try the chile verde burrito or the chicken mole taco (on the special sometimes). They know how to do a chile relleno (few in Oregon do) and most everything is great. There are some quirks, however. The hours are strange. They are not open weekends during the winter and only Saturday during summer. Obviously, more money can be made on Saturday than a Tuesday in Seaside. Asked them why they close on Saturday (and Sunday). They cater to locals was the answer. The salsa (3 kinds) are fresh and excellent. (our barometer, BTW, on first impressions of mexican joints is the salsa) Place is clean and simple. Don't expect a big live place. The name describes it best. It is little more than a stand. And there are two reasons this place is great. 1. The owner is the chef. 2. The chef knows how to prepare mexican. read more

The Stand is DELICIOUS! We are just rolling through town and asked some locals where we should go for good tacos. Everyone said to come here! We ordered carnitas, carne asada, and the blue cheese taco plate and they all brought tears to our eyes. We loved the pico, guacamole and chips too! Everything was so fresh and homemade. We met the owner Tammy and she is a sweetheart and helped us navigate the menu. We love this local gem! I don't know why I wouldn't eat this everyday! Love love love. read more

This is the kind of taco shop where they set the plates down in front of you and everybody is excitedly surprised. Super fresh tasting/looking ingredients and a plate that fills you up. I got the two taco plate with carne asada and pork. Grilled onions and zucchini are special touches that made it worth my time to sit down and write a review. The food and service is good. Just a one note. I went here because someone equated it authentic Mexican you would get in California but it's not. I had Carne Asada tacos. Although the appearance is there the flavor is Not. It wasn't bad or anything but not what you would expect. More like a regular steak cut up and put on a taco. Chech hours before you go especially if you are on long summer traffic. We arrived to find them closed, but we returned and the food was good. Everything is ala carte, so eat what you like. The ground meat is good,but not much spice. The chicken is white meat and is juicy and flavored. The guacamole was good. The service was counter order and delivered. Amazing pork "carnita" taco in a homemade tortilla. Good salsa too and $3.50 isn't bad for this tourist town but only 3 stars since each taco left a few tablespoons of grease each on the floor through the bag. If you guys used a slotted spoon and degreased the meat a tad I'd give you 5 stars and many more accolades. It's got to be tough slinging for tourists all day but tacos aren't supposed to leave a trail of grease from the counter to the house three blocks away. read more
