We ordered two small plates, one being a special for the evening of lobster nachos. The nachos were amazing and the Tuna tartar was just as good. Our entrees were very good and very generous. We walked into The Standard on a busy Saturday night. (July 10, 2021) Although we did not have a reservation, they happily seated us at a nice table for two. The drinks were good and they delivered warm rolls to our table with several spreads to put on them. Our meals were delivered and the portion size was surprising. Most places with "fine dining" offer small portions. Not The Standard. There was plenty of food and it was cooked to perfection. I had the 8 ounce filet and it was delicious. This is a beautiful restaurant in South Euclid that was suggested to us. We were told to look for the marquee. The dining room with a long bar is stunning when you walk in. Gold cloths adorn the tables and fabric panels allow privacy between tables. The hostess offered to show us the various rooms, and we were so glad we did. A dining room included the open window into the kitchen so the chefs are visible. We went out to the enclosed patio. Lots of colorful flowers added to the decor with more gold cloth-covered tables, and another bar. On this patio, on Thursday evenings beginning at 7 p.m., are jazz bands. You can socialize at the bar or eat dinner while listening. There is also an outdoor patio. This venue rocks! The service and food was A+. Louis was our waiter, and Madeleine was his attendant. They made a great team. This restaurant had entrees that included Moroccan herbs and spices that were not hot spices. We started with Blue Point oysters that were very nice, good flavor and not chewy. The French onion and creamed Asparagus soups were the best. Our entrees, which we all really enjoyed, were lamb shank with risotto, Bronzino with tapenade filleted at the table, fresh salmon with crab and Tiger shrimp on mashed potatoes, and Moroccan chicken with couscous. All dishes were excellent. A nice touch was that the head chef came out to say hello. The dessert list looked outstanding. We enjoyed speciality drinks, and wine and beers from extensive lists. I was in town attending a funeral and my cousins suggested going here to treat ourselves and lift our spirits. I was completely blown away by the food as well as the service. I was happy to see such an upscale feeling establishment in this neighborhood. A hidden Gem !! I had the stuffed salmon and both my cousins had the baked salmon. Everyone was very happy. The AC unit was an eye sore and needs a good cleaning. Rather gross. For appetizers: Ordered the eggplant (which may have come from frozen state) the mussels were good, just too rich of a cream sauce. For the entree: The filet mignon steak was definitely not a filet. It tasted like beef chuck. The hangar steak was a small portion and way too fatty to be hangar. (Hence the dark lit room). The wine was excellent. But to spend $500 for dinner, I needed to be blown away. Beautiful chandeliers decorate the room, which look goofy with small fake candles hanging off of them. Main Dish was lamb rack. Which fell short of my expectations as someone who has been in the restaurant industry for 16yrs from mom & pop-- fine dining. The sides were good but even tho they cooked the Rack of Lamb right (med-rare) but for $46 was very charred on outside & had less to almost no Panko breading or even a taste of Dijon mustard. Dined again at The Standard on 185th Street with a friend. Even though it seems like it's in the middle of a construction zone, this place has a hidden patio and inside that is just lovely. They've completely gone upscale with a new menu, cloth tablecloths, lots of servers, higher end wine list. Started with three dips and I love the olive tapenade. My friend enjoyed the balsamic. The Faroe island seared salmon was perfect with a fresh mango salsa and I liked that Brovarian wine again, a rombauer-like chard. my friend had french onion soup and said it was amazing. The guy next to us had a full oyster plate, then fresh grilled halibut and a Sancere. Also looked good! Like I said, the patio is a hidden gem in the middle of a residential area. The mussels needed to be cleaned a bit more but broth pretty good in flavor. We got the paella for main course. Lobster was very tough and chewy. We had a very good early evening dinner at The Standard one Sunday and we'll look forward to a return visit to try more of their menu items. This visit, we opted for small plates. The ceviche was a little under seasoned (more cilantro and citrus for me please). The Mediterranean Salad was perfect, lots of fresh greens, roasted red peppers, other veggies, excellent olives, hearts of palm and the dressing was house made. Nice tart flavor with good olive oil. We also tried the lamb appetizer which was delicious. They come with a very flavorful crust of panko with mustard and parm. Perfect. Also tried the fois gras and it was a little cold on the inside. Not my thing I suppose. The risotto was delicious with lots of mushroom flavor going on. The service from Ryan was top notch and the patio setting was very relaxing. read more

The food was amazing, so full of flavor and spiced very well! The portion sizes were also very generous, you would not be able to leave still hungry. My husband got the Paella, and I got the Bouillabaisse. Both of us loved our dishes, the Bouillabaisse had such a rich depth of flavor, our server was right, "you just can't find flavor like that anywhere else around here." Our server was wonderful too, he knew the menu extremely well and was great with recommendations. He was also very personable and attentive. As we were leaving, the chef asked how everything was. I have never had anything shy of an excellent experience from the food, to the staff and the entertainment. My partner and I visit about twice a month and had our visiting family join us at The Standard during the week of Thanksgiving. Everyone will surely be coming back and we will now meet there as tradition. If it`s on the specials menu for the day - I highly recommend the stuffed salmon!!! My friends and I wandered into this place on a Friday night fresh from a very nice event with a very disappointing food structure. As soon as we entered I was hit with the beauty of the space. They have clearly paid attention to even the most fine details in their design concept. The hostess was very friendly and got us seated right away. We were all impressed with the selection. Our waiter, Paul was clearly versed in fine dining. His technical ability as well as his friendly nature and great conversation won us over before our food even came. The portions are huge here. I ordered the lamb lollipop appetizer plate. It ended up being my meal. It came with 4 bones and a huge heaping of mashed potatoes. The meal was delectable and the service was excellent. When we got there we were seated outside anyway. I guess nobody cared about our initial request. Server was non existent no refill on drinks took 2 hours for entrees, she never checked on us. Finally found her working in the kitchen. Whenever I have to go search for a server, there is a problem. Then when I found her and told her we have been here 2 hours we need our dinners, she acted surprised. 20 minutes later, no dinners. We went up and asked for the manager. Finally our food came. It was lukewarm at best. We didn't even eat it. Manager comped one entree from our entire party. This use to be one of our favorite places, not any more. So disappointing. read more

I'm always searching for a cozy local spot for great food and cocktails. The Standard did not disappoint. The outside of the building isn't much to look at, but once inside it's stunning. The tin ceiling, dark wood, chandeliers, and curved entryways are beautiful and inviting. The bartender, while not overly friendly, makes a great cocktail. I highly recommend the Libertine and the seasonal Butterscotch White Russian. We ordered lamb meatballs, French fries, and a mixed greens salad with chicken. The lamb was outstanding. Perfectly seasoned, not dry and the dipping sauce was a lovely complement. The salad looked and tasted quite fresh. The red wine vinaigrette added a nice zing to a standard salad. Every employee that passed us asked if we were satisfied with our dishes, which I really appreciated. It was an added bonus that it was happy hour which made our bill very reasonable. I would definitely patronize this place again. Knocked off one star for lack of parking (had to park on a residential street and walk) and lack of enthusiasm upon entry. This is a very much mixed review. To start the menu and food is very good. The bad is that every dish is so large no two persons can eat it. And, they do not Split orders? Because of the quality and humongous entrees the menu is very expensive. Several years ago we had the beet salad. I think it was about $7. Now it is $18. The Pasta Bolognese was around $15, now $30. It is still excellent. Used to have great beers on tap. No longer. Coors Lite anyone? A restaurant in an iffy neighbor hood with entrees that top out at $55 does not have valet parking. The restaurant is attractive, but I am guessing that the prices kept a lot of tables empty on a Saturday night. A walk in couple sat near us and after seeing the menu prices they walked out. I would very much like The Standard to do well, but a return to its roots would be helpful. Service was excellent, just a weird dining experience. read more

So I've been here a few times now and this was my first official check in. We really like the standard. There're many small plates that are like half orders of their menu. We enjoy just ordering several of these to share. For the first time we tried an entree and weren't impressed. We feel this was probably a fluke. Every small plate we've had has been delicious and a great value. Tonight we had the calamari, eggplant parm roulette and salmon diner special. The salmon was stuffed with delicious crab meat which I feel is their crab cake mix. Wish we would have stuck with the crab croquettes small plate cuz the crab mixture was delish but the salmon ended up way over cooked. The eggplant was filling and the red sauce was wonderful. The calamari was lightly breaded with great seasoning and an awesome drizzled wasabi sauce. We had old fashioned cocktails which were better in the past than this night, but I guess that's going to depend on your bartender. My boyfriend and I came here before a concert at Beachland and had a wonderful experience. We sat on the patio (we were the ony ones). The bar area looked like it hadn't been completed but the patio is nice. It has white string lights that hang from the fence and they grow their own herbs. We were there on a Monday night and there were only about 6 people other than us. Not sure if that's usual but I hope it gets busy on other days. We started with drinks and and the Arancini appetizer. The arancini was not as hot as we would have liked it to be but was still delicious. The sauce that was served with it was great! Our waitress was fantastic at explaining different dishes and giving her recommendations and that is how I chose the Chicken Milanese for my entree. The chicken is deep fried but topped with a delicious light salad. I loved it! My boyfriend ordered the burger and it was a bit of a letdown. The burger looked like it could have started out as a frozen patty but I also think since he ordered it medium well that it took out a lot of the flavor.
