Look like they're struggling for customers now. The front of the building is plastered with big tacky signs saying OPEN and OPEN FOR LUNCH and OPEN SUNDAYS. Guess the rude attitude when they first opened affected business and nobody comes back a second time.

Stopped in last week, yummy! The flowers were blooming on the patio and we enjoyed a few drinks and a couple delicious Italian sandwiches. A nice place to stop when you know the food and service will always be great!

Picatta Chicken

We didn't have reservations, but the host told us we could sit at the bar. It's not ideal for dinner - a little bright and tight seating, but we decided to stay. Bartender was amazing and did a great job trying to upsell. Started with the short rib bruschetta. The short rib was so tender, but the app itself was lacking something. We didn't taste much of the mushroom described and both agreed it needed some sort of "drizzle" even if it was around the sides as an option. Not worth $19 IMO. Just very bland in taste and appearance. Side salads were delicious and the dressing was amazing. I ordered the chicken piccata, and my husband ordered the Delmonico steak. Both dishes were amazing, but polenta that was served with the steak was cold. I did feel like the piccata should've been served with "scratch" pasta, but it was over a medley of vegetables. Still had great flavor. It became very crowded and loud, so not ideal for an intimate evening. Glad we tried, but not sure we would return.

Meatballs and calamari

My wife and I stopped in with some friends for a late evening bite after going to the Geauga county fair. The restaurant is well decorated and the bar looks to be well stocked with good liquor. We ate on the patio which is very nice. Our server was a nice girl but was not very attentive and was absent most of the time. We had to ask for plates and table service. We ordered drinks and we waited quite sometime for them to arrive. I know that a quality drink takes time but a Mule and sangria are easy drinks to make. The drink prices are on the high side. 17.00 dollars for a glass of sangria. The restaurant was not very busy so it struck me as odd that we only ordered appetizers and it took 45 minutes for them to arrive. The food was pretty good but not memorable. The meatballs were firm and meaty with a rather plain chunky tomato sauce. The calamari was kind of chewy and the aeolie was ok but not really good. I won't go out of my way to tell my friends and family that they should eat here. The restaurant is very nice and the staff was friendly thanked us for visiting.

Bucatini carbonara

Joe was our server he was excellent he explained every dish we had questions of. I had Tagliatelle short ribs , with Sicilian wedding soup for appetizer which I could have eaten the soup with a slice of bread maybe next time . My friend had Bucatini carbonara she liked it but very rich with cheese and cream . We shared homemade carrot cake was delicious as well.

The establishment that usually comes to mind is "Square Bistro". It sits on the scenic square in downtown Chardon. The beautiful small town atmosphere is very calming. Great for a pre or post dinner stroll. You don't have to be concerned in any way about safety before or after dark. It's just a great place to be. Making reservations is easy... but definitely necessary. Lots of people love this establishment. It is always full. They have a very nice conventional menu as well as an excellent Sushi bar. And currently they are having their "Fall Clam Bake" with loads of options. We entered and met Megan, our server for the evening. She had a smile that never quit. Her bubbly personality made for a very fun evening. She was very attentive but never intrusive. After ordering our beverages and appetizers she gave us plenty of time to get comfortable and investigate the menu options. A basket of the most wonderful warm bread was delivered to the table and when it was gone another appeared in it's place. All 4 of us ordered the "Tomato Salad" - Organic Heirloom Tomatoes | Fresh Mozzarella | Basil Olive Oil | Aged Balsamic Reduction | Fried Garlic & Shallot Chips. It is one of my favorite items from their menu. Everything is so fresh and the house made dressing is wonderful. I always look forward to it. For our entrees my brother and I ordered the "Veal Milanese Piccata" - Panko Herb & Asiago Breaded Veal Cutlet | Lemon Caper Cream Sauce | mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. Our spouses ordered "Crab Crusted Grouper" - Pan Roasted Gulf Red Grouper | Cajun Crab Crust | Lobster Saffron Cream Sauce | Chef's Grain & Vegetable. I always enjoy the food at "Square Bistro" so I must say, during this visit the Veal was not quite up to their standards. It had good flavor, however the breading was too thick and a bit dry. Also it needed some additional sauce. I only make that note because it was not the norm for them. I'm sure it was a one-time misstep. Everything else we ordered was excellent as usual. After dinner was followed up with an excellent cup of coffee and fabulous desserts. We had "Pumpkin Spice Creme Brule", "Ice Cream Bomba", and "Candy Apple Tart". Each and every one was exceptional! So, as usual, "Square Bistro" on Chardon Square was a wonderful night out. It was a great evening as always. This establishment belongs on your "must see list".

Edit: They reached out to me and made the mistake right, therefore I am changing the review from a…read more3 to a 5. Thanks so much! Placed a $75 order to pick up. They seemed pretty busy but not too crazy. Food is good however they forgot our $18 sushi which was the main part of our meal. Really hope they double check the orders next time, because the food is worth it. Kinda upset but I guess we should have double checked the bag before we left.

We placed our drink order and waited...out came 2 glasses of wine, then the third and then the beer that was ordered. Also asked for lemon wedges for the water which came after the beer. Placed appetizers order of crab cakes and smash burger. Waited a bit and then placed order for two salads as part of our dinners. Salads came out before the appetizers. I must say the crab cakes were delicious (maybe not $26 delicious), the smash burger was ok, very greasy and fries were not very hot. My biggest disappointment was my entree, Parmesan Crusted Seabass which is one of my all time favorites that I order when I see it on the menu. The plate looked delicious but looks can be deceiving. The Seabass was more breaded than Parmesan crusted. Usually When I order this it is Seabass topped with shredded Parmesan cheese and baked, this was not that! Then the sauce that covered the spinach and potatoes and lobster pieces had red chili flakes added(which is not noted on the menu) which added "heat" to the dish that I was not expecting nor was I able to eat. For $55 I was very disappointed. No, I didn't mention this at the time as we were dining with family and I didn't want to disrupt the dinner by sending it back. Such a simple thing to note on the menu description! The short rib was the best entree of the table, nice portion and delicious sauce. The filet was tiny, maybe 4 oz. Definitely not anywhere near 8 in as stated on the menu and it was hard to find with all of the broccoli on the plate. We will be visiting family here again but definitely won't be back here. On another note, the music they were playing would be more suitable to a dance club than a venue such as this.

The beet salad wasn't my fav but it was ok. The chicken I would not recommend because it had literally no flavor and the whole thing was covered in arugula why My boyfriend loved the burger though! And I thought the wine was good This place wins in terms of ambiance, it's really gorgeous and feels exclusive. I just wish the food matched that vibe. I'd come back for their brunch for sure in the summer, I hear they might have bottomless mimosas??

With it being a romantic holiday at a romantic restaurant, I would have thought the restaurant might have done somethihg extra special for its guests that evening, but that wasn't the case. The restaurant is beautiful with some rooms definitely being more impressive than other rooms. The service was a bit inconsistent. Our primary server was charming and fairly humorous, however, at the end of the meal, he made an error regarding the cost of my friend's wine. When notified of the mistake, he returned with the "fix" that was still incorrect. Ultimately after some back and forth, he acknowledged that a change was made to the cost by the restaurant that he wasn't aware of, and charged the correct amount and provided an apology. With the end of the meal ending on somewhat of a sour note, I thought perhaps he would have comped the dessert, but no such luck. Our entire table of 4 thought the quality of our meals were mediocre to good, which unfortunately was very disappointing considering the price point. The highlight of the meal were the cocktails which were definitely very good.

They have a large selection of house wines as well as other brands. The server was kind but didn't seem very knowledgeable about the wine. All the dishes are enormous and meant to be shared. We shared the goat cheese with blackberry preserves and a Genoa flatbread and even with the three of us, we had a lot to take home with us. The duo and the flatbread were both incredible. The flatbread is actually two whole flatbreads and the dip was the size of a dinner plate. They were kind to get us an extra loaf of bread to go with the dip because we ran out. Their kitchen closed at 8 even though they were open until 9. That was about annoying because we considered ordering an additional dish but worked out fine since the dishes were so large.
