I will best describe Hotel Lilien as rustic elegance with the soul of a bed & breakfast. The hotel has 21st century amenities like checking in / out with your cellular device. I do miss having a front desk welcoming us to the hotel. Walking into the hotel space was interesting. Since this is a large lodge, we first entered into the dining room. Someone working in the kitchen came out and welcomed us, they explained the key is in your door. My wife and I carried our bags up the winding stairwell to our room. Once we entered our room space, it was unlike a hotel room and more like a B&B room. Inside the room, there was a small sitting alcove, a large bathroom as well as the comfy bed. Everything about the room felt well thought out, it was the perfect size for the two of us. With any B&B, I like to wake up early, sit in the comfy chairs while sipping a cuppa coffee. This is not the case with Hotel Lilien. When you leave your room and want to enter the common room or dining area, its all on lock down. They open at 8am, then you can sit by the wood burning stove with a your cup of coffee and listen to their soft jazz playing throughout the space. Continental Breakfast is provided, a freshly baked croissant with a hard boiled egg, a piece of cheese as well as sliced salmon or prosciutto. No cream cheese or jam. You get what you get! It was fine for our two night stay. The outside deck furniture was gorgeous, Plow & Hearth table & chairs along with gas heaters. I had to turn the gas on, the heater was never used before! The first night, My wife & sat on the deck for hotel guests .I had a bottle of wine and we just enjoyed the surroundings. I must point out, the parking lot is complete darkness so you'll need a flashlight to light your path from your car to the hotel. The hotel has a pool (closed in October) I asked them to light a bon fire for our second night, they did not light anything. The hotel is about 20 miles away from Woodstock, there are nice restaurants within driving distance. I want to point out, I drove my Tesla on a single charge from my home on Long Island straight to the hotel. There are Tesla chargers throughout the area, if you have a Hyundai, I'm not sure how you would charge but search them out. Driving through the mountains is nice, I'm not sure how it would be during the snow/ski season. Hotel Lilien, it was a great hotel stay. Thank you

The coziest little restaurant. I came here with a group on NYE and it feels like you are in a ski house's living room. Our server was awesome and very attentive. Food was amazing - especially loved the tacos. 10/10 can't wait to come back,

Thank you for send back to me. I left shoes at hotel while I visiting with my daughter and grandson

Thank you send me back for my hiking shoes. It was beautiful place and service. My daughter and grandson had a great time. Thank you

My partner and I have stayed at the Lilien a couple times now and every time we are blown away. When you pull up you are genuinely taken a back by how beautiful the property is. Everything is curated extremely well, it feels like a modern cabin you never want to leave. The check-in process is so easy and everyone I've met that works there (especially Chris) are so kind. We've gotten the chicken sandwich every time we've stayed and it just keeps getting better. The whole place is a literal dream, if you have any sense at all you'll book your dream getaway here.

We stopped in last night on a whim while in Hunter for a little weekday getaway. We were immediately drawn to the moody dark bar and the beautiful mid/century modern lodge decor. The wood burning fireplace was beautiful, and we sat down in the main dining room to enjoy the atmosphere. We ordered some drinks and dinner, and unfortunately the food wasn't the star of the show. The fries were delicious though, and we are very picky about fries so those were the saving grace! We got to speak to one of the owners, Chris, who told us the story of how the Lilien came to be and it was such an interesting story! The entire hotel was falling down and he and his business partners brought it back to life, and had a designer come in and live near the property for a summer while she designed every detail. It's truly a beautiful place that's been renovated perfectly with no detail left untouched. We really enjoyed our time there and we can't wait to come back and stay in one of the guest rooms! One is even dog-friendly!

First of all, when you walk into this place it smells amazing. It was one of those bright, chilly…read morespring days in the Catskills when it looks nice outside but you need gloves. We were seated immediately in a very cozy booth, and the server was friendly and helpful. We had the fondue, of course, with apples and veggies added on. We shared knishes, and then each had a cup of soup. Everything we tasted was delicious, exactly the kind of warming, comforting, stick to your ribs food you want after a morning hike. The one thing I wasn't wild about was that they charged for each drink refill, but the server was attentive and the fondue was so good that I can definitely forgive that.

But several awkward minutes passed and another party came inside before anyone greeted and escorted us to a table. Oddly, a runner walked by the entrance a few times but didn't acknowledge us and seemed to avoid eye contact. Prices were were a hair higher than expected, but thankfully the portions were filling. I went with the tavern steak sandwich ($22). The fries were the steak kind but not too fat and wedge-y. There was a totally reasonable amount of Muenster and steak, and I found that the sandwich didn't really need the accompanying steak sauce. The mac & cheese ($14) was a delightful appetizer made with a whopping five different cheeses! Last Chance mentions both antiques and cheese in its name so we had to investigate both. Instead of a separate shop, the antiques are all around the restaurant, and our server said some are for sale and some belong to the owner's private collection but he seems possibly open to offers. The cheese and gifts are in an area on the other side of the bar, with the cheese behind a counter. I thought the cheese collection would be larger and have more NY options, but it was still a solid selection. If you plan on purchasing any candy or other treats after your meal, just let your server know so you can take your bill over there.
