I love The Stout House! My wife and I aren't the biggest beer drinkers, but occasionally we enjoy going to a beer bar, especially one that has an awesome selection of stouts. This is a cool, family-owned micro-brewery situated in a strip center. There's plenty of parking, both indoor and patio seating, and a really nice selection of well-made craft beers. BEERS: My wife's first experience, so she tried a 6-pour taster (4 oz/$14), and opted for all stouts, including: Guinness Irish Stout (4.9%), "We Love LA" Stout (6.1%), Obsessed-Coffee Disorder Stout (6.4%), Peanut Butter Stout (6.8%), Smoked Maple Bar Stout (7.5%), and Triple Stout (8.1%). I chose a pint of the Chocoholic Anonymous Stout (6.0%) which has always been one of my favorites. She liked the Peanut Butter Stout the best, so we ended up sharing a pint of that before we left. We got our fill, and they were all pretty delicious! FOOD: Check out social media (@the_stout_house_upland) as to who will be there serving what. You just have to go inside. There's nothing special about the decor or anything, but if anything, the beers are more than satisfactory. Service is fantastic and If you are a fan of stouts you'll be at home. Make sure to ask when the next stout batch is in because it WILL run out. For non stout drinkers there is variety. It's a space where you wanna go after work, or want something less wild. They have a great 80's and 90's playlist that fits. Good food vendors are on the weekends so you know it's safe to pair . It's very chill and away from the city if you don't want crowded areas. Parking is abundant so that's a win. I will definitely recommend this place. I got the opportunity to check out The Stout House about a week ago. First and foremost, I don't drink. However, this place was an intrigue. They have so many variations of their homecrafted beer including some seltzers which are more of my preference. I find beer somewhat bitter. They pour and can their own beers... nice! I even got a chance to see the can and top before they were put together... I ended up buying two can pints of their Infidels... So Very Cherry Ale (5.3%) and Tropical Orange Ale (5.4%). I liked the former more than the latter, but both are very good. Cherry has a deeper flavor than the orange. Orange has a lighter and crisper taste though. Even though the % of alcohol is kinda low, I still got a little buzz from it. I can only take a few sips at a time LOL. I wanted to buy all their Anti-ABV drinks like Rootbeer, Black Cherry, Vanilla Lemon Cream, but they were out of them that day... bummer! I'll have to return to pick some up next time. The owners are very nice and friendly. Real genuine folks who are here to offer great tasting beers and world class service. Thank you so much! Prices are very reasonable. Very quaint amd cozy ambiance. Lighting was a little dim though. Tons of seating at the bar, lounging sofas, tables and chairs, tables and stools. The exterior of this place is definitely a place that can be missed when driving by. When inside, it looks more like a brewery type of settting. I sat in the bar area and had the pleasure of being served by Seth who was very knowledgeable about the beers. He helped me choose beers for my flights and explained what types of flavors, some fun facts about fermentation, and the popular choices/ recommendations. These are a list of some of the beers I tried and even some took home to bring to my family. Tropical orange ale was my absolute favorite Appearance: in between the golden to amber Aroma: earthy, fruity Taste: bitter, Bits of orange , apple , lemons Mouth feel: medium bodied My rating: 5/5 Kolsch Ale was the least of my favorite despite its popularity. Appearance: golden Taste: tart, smooth Flavor: not much flavor, couldn't really figure this out. Tastes like a very light beer My rating: 1/5 So very cherry is great for wine drinkers Appears brown, smells sweet like cherry , tastes earthy/ cherry. Double dog ipa Was very strong, bitter, mild hoppy. Hefeweizen Bitter, banana 4/5 Berliner Weisse Mild sour taste. Tasted like apple/lemon. 2/5 only because I am not a fan of many sour tastes. Solstice Belgian Quad is also on the stronger side of 12.5% 2/5 Barell aged smoked porter was the strongest of them all. Definitely can get the job done. Wasn't my choice of taste. 2/5 for taste Overall great experience with Seth. Reasonable prices. Great environment with couches to lounge as well. There was also an area for games but I did not play. Stout House not only has incredible beer (that keeps getting even better!), they've also achieved the holy grail of being home to a community of warm-hearted people who lift each others' spirits and make lasting connections. The brewer Seth and his crew are hard-working, attentative, and generally just fantastic people. Service with a smile is the bare minimum, you usually get service with joy here. The entire, expansive beer menu is delicious; you literally can't go wrong no matter what you pick! We tend to prefer their barrel aged offerings, like the Smoked Porter and the Russian Stout series. They've had mocha, cuban coffee, and other epic flavors for the latter. Look no further than Stout House, and perhaps consider joining their Mug Club, which has weekly social events. Back in college I studied at libraries, bookstores and coffee shops. Due to the pandemic, those locations aren't as assessible. And when I finally found a coffee shop with seating, there were crying babies... So I asked myself WHERE CAN I AVOID CHILDREN?!?! Sorry to all the people with children, but I needed the perfect ambiance for some reading and studying. My most successful study ambiance was found here at the Stout House. There was foot traffic and people hanging out, but just background sounds, no sharp sudden disturbing noises. Aaron was friendly and welcoming. He told me a bit about their menu and lucky me because I love stouts!! Stouts have always been my favorite since they remind me of coffee and I love coffee. I decided to do the Flight of 6 - 4 oz each ($12). For the first time ever in the history of ordering flights, I liked all of them!! Unconventional Kolsch - 5% - German style beer. Very light and refreshing. Tropical Orange - 5.3% - A seasonal option but a fan favorite so I am told it is often on the menu. Love the fruity citrus note. I can drink this like tasty spiked juice. Chocoholic Anonymous Stout - 6.1% - Taste like chocolatey beer. What is there not to love? :) Obsessed Coffee Disorder (OCD) Stout - 6.5% - My favorite and it seems to be a favorite of the regulars who come here. Love the coffee notes. Keeps me awake for my studies. Fig Beast RIS Barrel Aged Stout with Vanilla - 13.2% - Half portion since the % alcohol is strong and since it is barrel aged there is less supply. Very tasty. Glad I got to try it. Definitely strong! There are also food vendors who operate on their own in front of the Stout House. I recommend coming on Saturdays when Cali Grubbin is there with their tasty fusion bites. Love the ambiance! Love the crowd. Aaron was super nice. Visited The Stout House for Yelp "FBB Happy Hour Series" in Upland. We were greeted by a very exuberant Yelp Representative who gave us 2 drink tickets for a flight or a pint of beverage. We also were gifted a Yelp branded pint glass, beer opener, yelp sticker. and some tasty Karma nuts. We sat down an ordered a couple of flights. The flights are 4 ounce taster served in cute Ball glasses on an aluminum 6 cupcake tray. we ordered 6 stouts an a couple of IPAS. The Owners were there pouring the beers and they had a one ounce taste go to all the people in the brewery. He described the beer perfectly and they did this three times. One of my favorite breweries. Great selection to choose from and all the staff is friendly, welcoming and take the time to explain all the different choices. Very helpful. Some of my favs were: Obsessed Coffee Disorder stout Hazy IPA Russian Imperial Stout, the "Barrel Aged Milk Beast" (best one of them all) *only downside is you can't order as part of a flight. I think the sofa seating could be arranged differently, so that more people can enjoy them. the high seats and tables are ok, but not comfortable for long periods of times. I appreciate the several times i've been there, that they had sports showing on the monitors and projector. There's usually a food truck or local restaurant that you can get food from or you can bring your own food. which is nice. i recommend this place, great beer, and good vibe. read more

Like most breweries, the Stout House is located in an industrial neighborhood and doesn't look like much from the outside. If you aren't a fan of stouts, don't let the name discourage you. The Stout House also serves up ales, porters, kolsch, IPAs, and fruit beers that rival Hamilton's. Each beer tastes incredibly unique, and you can tell that there is a ton of thought that goes into each recipe. I tried six of their beers, and was ready to bring each one home with me: - Chocolate Anonymous (6.1%): literally tastes like a chocolate bar. This beer is perfect for anyone who is testing the waters with darker brews. - Triple Stout (8.1%): can't go wrong with this yummy traditional stout! - Limited time Summer fruit beers: Fruit Cocktail, Watermelon Mint, and Cherry (5.7%). These fruit beers were insane! Next year will be a game changer when they have the ability to serve these beers in cans to go - they belong by the pool! While the Stout House doesn't serve food on site, they often bring out local eateries to whip up a quick meal. Heard about this brewery by accident but very glad we did. My wife and I are big fans of dark beers. We also enjoy the IPA's but what we drink depends on our mood. During colder weather we do drink more dark beers though. The Stout house is another great brewery in Upland and although had a very quiet opening, is already doing very good business. They also had some of the largest sized flight glasses I have ever had! We started with a flight of three. The Milk Stout, OCD (Obsessed Coffee Disorder) and the Chocoholic Anonymous. All three were very fine brews and worth drinking but the Chocoholic Anonymous was what really caught us that night. Wow! Great beer brewed with Girardi chocolate and the most fantastic taste. We also sampled the Hazy IPA and the Buzz Bunny Carrot Ale which were both good and we will be definitely coming back to try more of their fabulous craft beer. The seating was nice and comfortable and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about their beer. This will become a regular stop for us. THEY MAKE NON STOUTS TOO! Being a Stout fan this place delivered the goods. Will have to visit next week when Seth will be brewing a peanut butter Stout and a Carrot Stout! I've never seen a Carrot infused one before so I'll be ready. Friendly dudes running this joint. I'm a particular beer drinker. I'm the guy those Bud Light commercials are making fun of. I happen to loathe IPA's but their Hazy IPA is fantastic. So far my favorite beer from any local brewery 100 miles from THE STOUT HOUSE. It has a grapefruit nose with only a little bitterness and a refreshing citrusy aftertaste. Glad I found this place. Another bonus is Seth will fill a non Stout House Growler. As long as it's clean. Many places only accept their own growlers for filling. Can't wait to revisit when they get a new batch of whatever. read more

Came here on a Sunday evening around 7pm. It was pretty quiet and just a few people inside. The staff are super nice and made us feel at home. Tried the flight of stouts (chocolate/triple/coffee). My favorite was the chocolate, so I grabbed a pint to drink some more. I can honestly say they have some of the best stouts I have tasted. They're was a nice couple outside serving food. We gave them a try as well. OMG! There food was tha bomb! We tried the crispy shrimp roll and al pastor chicken nachos first. Then bought another crispy shrimp roll and tried the carnitas nachos. So first and foremost I'm a big stout fab so to have a brewery that specializes on Stout beers is just so satisfying. It was my first time trying it out and what I live about this place is that they samplers so you don't have to just get one but you can try out other beers they have. The down aide to that is that there are a few beers that you can't try as a sampler. I get why the owner doesn't want to do that but its still a bummer. I've been back two other times since then, their menu is solid but they don't do as many temporary or experimental taps as other breweries in the area, but they're newer so I'm hoping that happens soon :) I also wish they would post their tap list on their Instagram at least on a weekly basis. My favorite beers here would have to be the chocoholic anonymous, Berliner Weisse, and their KÖlsh. They are located right next to a bread company (yum) and we saw they deliver pizzas next door to the brewery on the weekends. First thing you should know about this place: They don't ONLY have Stout style beers on tap here (they had three stouts, a lager, and a double IPA). Second thing you should know is that they don't have many beers on tap...yet. The owner and brewer informed me that he's just starting out but has some great stuff being put on tap soon, including a Double Oatmeal Stout and Hazy IPA (two of my all time favorite styles of beer). So yeah, be patient with this new brewery in the area, because good things come to those who wait. Since it was my first visit, I tried a little of each beer. My favorite was the OCD (Obsessed Coffee Porter). It was the perfect amount of coffee for a porter (not too overpowering, but just enough to lend some real coffee flavor). It also had a nice mouthfeel (a little "thicker" than your typical beer). If the "nose" of a beer is more your thing, and you love chocolate, the "Chocoholic Anonymous" would be more your thing: a pronounced chocolate aroma introduces you to a bold, but not overpowering chocolate taste (there's actual chocolate in this beer, as opposed to merely brewing with chocolate malts, which typically earns a beer is "chocolate" label). The Double IPA was pretty darn good too: light and refreshing with a good amount of bitterness (not a hop bomb, which I liked). Oh, for those of you designated drivers out there, they also make craft sodas, in-house: Root Beer, Black Cherry and Vanilla Lemon Cream. Again, there are big plans for this brewery which just opened up, so give them your support, so they can support your beer drinking habits for years to come! read more

So I am not a fan of beer. Brings up childhood memories and the stench of stale old Coors and Budweiser cans and teenage memories of trying to look cool drinking a beer without gaging or belching like Barney from the Simpsons. No worries, I haven't missed out on adult beverages, and found lots of suitable substitutes. However, my opinion of beer was recently turned upside down by The Stout House. I first heard about The Stout House by way of a Virtual Yelp Event, and then when I learned that they brew not only beer, but also their own hard seltzer, that's when I knew I had to pay a visit. I first went to their website, found the hard seltzer, ordered two crowlers (I think that's what they're called) and a proper drinking glass for pickup. When I arrived to pick up my order, Josh said he had some bad news and the gasket on the hard seltzer broke and no way to pour it. My options were to get a refund or find something else. Well, since I had purchased a glass, it just didn't seem right to get a refund and leave without something to put in it. However, as I said earlier, not a fan of beer, yet here I was at a brewery. Doh! I had to come clean and disclose to Josh that I don't like beer, but if he had something that didn't taste like beer, well maybe I could take something to put in my new glass. Josh didn't seem shocked or annoyed with my news and knew just what I might like. He gave me two tastings-- the Tropical Orange which he described as similar to a mimosa, and So Very Cherry. I tasted both, and for the first time in my life, I did not gag or even grimace at the taste of beer! It's a quarantine miracle! This stuff is magical! Tasty! I can't believe it's Beer! I immediately wanted more, and took one crowler of each. Thank you Josh! Never would I have guessed that I would chose to drink beer and enjoy it. Now my new beer glass is full! The only problem is that these two beers are seasonal . . . but that's ok. Since Josh has performed a quarantine miracle by finding me beer that I like, I have faith that he can do it again if they run out of these two flavors next time I want more. I hate writing reviews like this, but what's the point of a review system if you can't be honest and try to give constructive criticism? Still, I want to preface that the service here was great. No one was around and I love places when it's like that because you can get more intimate conversations with the staff, which were very friendly helpful and attentive. If it wasn't for the staff I'd give this place a one star. And I don't do that out of some terrible experience or frustration, just as an evaluation of the brewery and beer itself. I have a problem with brewery reviews on yelp, in that any brewery is usually a fun alcohol-fueled experience but that causes the reviews to be skewed far higher than most places deserve. And I get that hopefully that helps really cool breweries bring in more people, but a 5-star system has to be objective too or it's not as helpful. When I came it was during a weeknight, and maybe they were going through some transitions or had some botched or super old batches, but they were out of half their beers and you could tell they really only had maybe 4 stout bases they added different adjuncts in to make all their variations. In that case I would expect those stout bases to be phenomenal. But these stouts left a lot to be desired, and I didn't try a single beer that tasted worthy of being sold to customers. It all tasted full of off-flavors and poor balancing with the adjuncts and added flavoring, mostly being that too little of it was used, which can cut down on costs. As a devout stout and coffee lover the idea behind this place sounds right up my alley, so I can only hope I came at an inopportune time and/or that they're well on their way to making vast improvements. Regardless all beer tastes better with good company and vibes, and I think this place has plenty of that at least. I hope if I ever come back here I'll taste something more worthy of the people and idea behind the place. I wish them all the best going forward. read more
