My family surprised with a Mother's Day dinner at the Stovehouse and what an awesome experience it was, starting with our Mandy our server. She was pleasant, professional, and a wealth of information about the menu. We all had different items and each was amazing! We had the Crab Dip for an appetizer, then each of use ordered something different so we could taste each item. We had the steelhead, pork chop, halibut special, all of which we gave a "10". Of course, we had to try the desserts, so if you have room I would suggest the Banana Cream Pie and the Carrot Cake. read more

My husband and I decided to share a ribeye as it was a 12 oz portion, way more than either of us could eat. We got a wedge salad to share. The salad was pretty good. It really was a full meal as it had steak bites with it. Didn't taste super fresh. We ordered our steak rare to medium rare. The one we got was well done. We asked for another. It was cooked properly but the meat was so tough and flavorless it didn't come close to our expectations. Would prefer a smaller portion size of a good steak. Suncadia does it right! A 4th July weekend with the family! I had the blackened shrimp salad. Everything was very fresh! The Chimichurri dressing gave it the right kick! The service was good - the bartender was very kind and polite. We were a little confused as to why they weren't seating anyone at the empty tables but it wasn't that big of a deal. My husband and I ordered pretty basic food - a cheeseburger (I asked for cheddar instead of pimento) and a club sandwich. The food was incredibly disappointing. The cheddar cheese was clearly shredded cheese and the burger was more of a hockey puck with how small and burnt it was. It was $25. My husband was disappointed with the chicken on his club and didn't even eat half of his sandwich. For the cost to stay here and the cost to eat here, we do expect more out of the food - especially such basic meals. Hoping the menu changes soon and the chefs master the simple stuff. One of the most disappointing meals I've ever spent $200 on. We ordered the filet mignon and rib-eye, and sadly, the cheeseburger our son had was the highlight of the meal. The preparation felt lazy -- the asparagus still had the tough ends on, making half of it inedible. The steaks weren't cut or cooked properly, and there's no way that rib-eye was 45-day aged as claimed. The mushrooms and pearl onions side was just as bad -- chewy, poorly prepared, and lacking flavor. For a place with such a beautiful ambiance, the food quality and execution fell way short. On top of that, being seated right next to the bar so close to the golf club meant dealing with loud, rowdy groups coming in after their round. It completely ruined any dinner atmosphere. We were fortunate this wasn't our anniversary night as originally planned. We won't be going back. read more

We have been to the Stovehouse a few times over the last few months. The food is ok. The menu is limited. The service is all over the place. Sometimes it is fine, sometimes it is painful unstaffed. This is also not a place to go for holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. While they decorate near the entrance-there is no effort to make it festive in the actual dining area. We just had a little twig about 2 inches tall for Christmas. It is a great place to go in the summer for a drink and an expensive dinner but would not be my first choice destination. read more

My husband and I were staying at The Lodge at Suncadia so we decided to try this place out. It was a Sunday night and we had reservations, but none were needed as the place wasn't as packed. There were only two servers and so the service took some time. But, it wasn't terrible. My husband ordered the 16oz. Ribeye (it seemed smaller) and I ordered the 8oz. Steak Au Poivre Filet. My husband said his steak was good, albeit a bit overcooked. I tasted it and didn't really care for the taste. My filet was way overcooked. I ordered it medium well (closer to medium), and it was more overly well done. The sauce was very watery but had a good taste. We also ordered baked potatoes which were good. And Brussels sprouts, which we never got. But weren't charged. We didn't let the server know that our meal wasn't cooked to our liking, but, she she seemed so busy we didn't want to bother. She was really nice, we just didn't see her as much. For dessert we ordered a chocolate cake that was $16. We took it to go and we were so surprised how small it was. The taste was good but it wasn't worth $16! The meal was ridiculously overpriced for what we got. It was very reminiscent to a dinner theater type meal. I would've rated it lower but my husband seemed to enjoy his food. However, we most likely won't be coming to this restaurant again. read more

It gives classy vibes but is also family friendly which was perfect for us. It is a short walk from The Lodge if you're staying there. So much staff and no service. We came in after a local funeral for drinks. We sat at the front for at least 10 minutes before being greeted. The bartender, bar back and other service members saw us and were too engrossed in their conversation to greet us. It was extremely slow in there. We were then seated, waited another 10 minutes to be greeted. Our drinks did come fairly quick considering the previous waits. One person in our party had an empty glass for over 15 to 20 minutes. Anniversary dinner with hubby- on the phone they said they didn't have availability, but we went in to try and got in right away. Brennan was our server and he was TOP NOTCH stellar helpful! Elegant yet not stuffy atmosphere... but not ultra casual. Eats: I tried the elk, which I've never had and am not a fan of.. ha! Took it home to father in law and he said it was PERFECT. The burnt ends were super delicious, cornbread was a tidge spicy but yummy. Hubby had ribeye steak frites and he was very pleased. I ate the fries and oh wow the umami on those were divine. Had a delicious Roslyn brew- it was nice and cold. For dessert, Brennen GIFTED US EACH with a dessert of our choice to celebrate our big anniversary! What?! Who does that?! We had the cream puff flight, with a side of huckleberry! Divine!! Also had creme brûlée.... I've had better but it was good. Bottom line: this place was pretty good and worth revisiting. The ambience is welcoming, the service staff was quick and responsive, and the food was delicious. Food: I got the risotto as the main meal, pretzel sticks as an appetizer, and some truffle fries as a side to accompany the meal. All three did not disappoint. The prawns were cooked perfectly and the first bite of the risotto was great. The truffle fries were as expected and they were very liberal with the use of parmesan cheese. Although the menu itself was somewhat limited, I wanted to try all of them including the trout dip... but had to restrain myself. As for the drink: went with their version of Old Fashion and it did not disappoint. Service: from the start (checkin) it was great. The only thing that slowed the service down throughout the night was the wedding rehearsal dinner or bachelorette party that was going on in the back; so it was expected. Only reason why I can't give this place five stars is because the bar orders were really slow. Probably due to the same reason for the large party but I unfortunately saw my drink... and sit there for awhile. I was tempted to get up and get it myself but alas... a wait staff was able to retrieve it once he realized that half way through my meal... my drink was still not there. To his credit he apologized ferociously, which wasn't his fault, and rectified the issue quickly. Ambience: great. This place has a great view of the Prospector Golf Course and during the evening hours it feels very welcoming. I recommend you make a reservation prior to coming out here. In the past 3 months, Stovehouse overhauled their menu and it is the exact same restaurant but about 5x as expensive. They want to charge NYC prices, but in Cle Elum. It's honestly insane. They are thinking of themselves now as a steakhouse (think $70/steak, $35 for a salad and a smallish/not an impressive one) but literally didn't change the atmosphere, service level or food perks you get with those kinds of prices at a steakhouse. Really it's so disappointing. Especially since the vibe in suncadia is fairly casual. I'm all in for fancy, but this isn't fancy it's just straight ridiculously pricey and not worth it. I think our bill was $400 for 5 people (3 were children). We will not go back. read more

Well, went for anniversary dinner, I had the ribeye which was pretty good, on top of fries coated with garlic Parmesan, tasted nasty but ketchup cover the flavor up ok. Wife had the chicken roulade all together she just couldn't eat it, curry on cauliflowe, bad combo, the goat cheese stuffing wand not good and it had some pastey sauce on it. She just could not eat it. Overall the menu is bizarre I suggest you check it well before you go because it's worse than it looks. Note to chef's. People want to taste the flavors of the food they order not a pile of seasonings that overpower everything. Restaurant is overlooking the beautiful greenery golf course. The view is pretty and relaxing but food wise, they are so so. I give it a 3 stars since the service was ok and the server was friendly. The kitchen speed was a little slow but since we were not vacation, we didn't mind as much. For starter, we hard cornbread. It was good, served hot and buttery. Maybe we were too hungry, we even ate all the crumbs quickly. For entrees, we had the smoked chicken and tenderloin. The beef was fine, cooked to medium rare as requested. The cut was well and flavor was right. The chicken... very smoky and..... It's one of the worst chicken I've ever had. Dry, tough and chewy. I couldn't figure out if I was chewing chicken or cardboard. The sweet potato on the side was better in comparison but it didn't help the dry meat. read more

The wings appetizer was great, but for entrees not many choices. They both went with the creamy chicken pasta. Soon I noticed neither was eating, which is unusual. They didn't want to complain. I tasted it. I swear that was canned chicken. The sauce had an odd, bland taste. My chicken Caesar was fine. I was surprised they had no sandwiches on the menu and not much traditional comfort food as advertised. (No mac and cheese or mashed potatoes and gravy?) I'd hesitate to return. Was driving from Leavenworth to Seattle and decided to have lunch near Cle Elem. We had 2 kids and 3 adults. The Stovehouse said kid friendly and looked like a higher end lunch spot. Beautiful surroundings and great view. Seated quickly and drinks arrived quickly. After the drinks it went downhill. Food took almost an hour and when we received it some of the dishes were cold. Worst was that one of the kids meal wasn't brought out. For a small steak and fries he had to wait another 15 minutes. The 2 stars are because the sandwiches (yes sandwiches) were decent, the service and chef made this an experience we will not repeat. read more
