To make a long story short... Erek saved my life. Prior to seeing him, I naively received a botched highlight job from a renowned hair studio in West Hollywood which absolutely ruined my hair. My hair was so fried and damaged, I couldn't even brush through it. I went to Erek and asked him to help me in any way he could. He saw the distressed state I was in, and had all the right things to say in order to make me feel better. Plus, he knew exactly what needed to be done. We deep conditioned the hell out of my head and cut off my dead hair (courtesy of Mèche nuclear bleach) and got it back to a healthy state. I can brush through it now - a luxury I will never again take for granted. Despite my 6 inch loss, I feel so much better for it. I am a long hair girl; short hair naturally makes me feel weird and unlike myself, but Erek understood my vibe and knew how to make this length flattering on me with respect to my unruly hair texture. He is talented, knowledgable, and cares for his craft and clientele above all else. The former is not to be taken for granted either. He will listen to you and do exactly what you ask for, and you can trust his expertise and styling when you're not sure what to do with yourself, much like myself this past week. I hate writing this review, but I feel obligated to share my experience so other people don't make the same mistake I did. Raul Sebastian of the studio by Adam Lee Kenney installed hair extensions for me after telling me he would give me "friend pricing." Because we knew each other personally, I trusted him and did not receive a clear quote for the installation beforehand. I purchased the extension hair separately as instructed. Only after the installation was finished did he tell me the cost was $350 per row and that he had installed four rows, bringing the total to $1,150. This pricing structure had not been clearly explained to me before the service. Based on our earlier conversations, I believed the installation would cost around $350 total. Soon after the installation, one of the extensions became severely matted and began falling out. I also later realized that the lace used in the install had not been properly matched to my natural hair color, which made the extensions more visible. Concerned, I went to two different professional extension stylists for consultations. Both independently told me the installation had been done very poorly and that the matting and slippage were caused by improper installation--not by how I cared for the hair. When I tried to discuss the situation with Raul, he became defensive, blamed me for not "styling my own hair," and then blocked me rather than working toward any resolution. In the end, I paid over $1,100 for an installation that two other professionals later told me was improperly done. They also told me that installation of this type would typically cost between $350-$500 at reputable luxury salons. I strongly recommend avoiding Raul Sebastian altogether. I will be including photos of my hair less than four weeks after the installation, as well as a comparison photo showing what eight weeks of normal extension growth typically looks like. This review is for Christina Mack! This has been my first time in almost 9 years of trying out a new hairstylist and I was impressed! She did an amazing job especially with the amount of growth I had. It had been roughly 6 months since I had my roots retouched so imagine the growth! I have very thick hair that's hard to lighten as well but she made sure she did it without leaving my hair feeling dry. This review is long overdue. I have been a red red head for a long time and went to get my roots and gloss from a different salon. I left the salon with purple violet hair. I called the studio in a desperate panic, mind you this is 4th of July weekend, and Adam went out of his way to help me. I called many salons and everyone was booked. So was the studio but when Adam heard my situation, he told me he had the perfect colorist to fix my hair and by some magic I had my hair fixed at the studio the next day. He genuinely went out of his way to help me out and connected me with literally the best colorist who has ever touched my hair, Cristian. Which is rare - the colorist/ salon who messed up my hair in the first place didn't care half as much as Adam did. It was my first time at the studio. First impression was kind of weird since I arrived and there was absolutely none to greet me at the salon (I was 10 min early). The owner did my hair, and gave absolutely zero $&@ks about me. Never did a proper consultation, said we'll figure it out as we go, didn't ask me what my name was, or introduced himself. There was no conversation, or even a feeling that good feeling you're being taken care of in a salon. However, the worst part is that my haircut is absolutely a joke. My hair is thin and very easy to manage, it lifts very well, and it was already short when I came in! My hair is uneven everywhere now, he never double checked it, or refined it, never asked me where I prefer to part it. He didn't even style it after a quick blow dry. I like the color that I got, but for the price WASN'T worth it!!! I paid $625 for this. I honestly feel taken advantage of. I wouldn't mind paying this amount if I felt pampered. I got the best haircut & style EVER at The Studio! Adam was SO nice and friendly, he made me feel comfortable right away! So much so, I went in for a simple blowout and left with an unexpected (beautiful) new look! Adam was very knowledgeable of all things hair, explaining things and taking the time to show me how to style my hair at home. The Salon was small but cool, very clean with a nice artistic vibe. I started seeing Adam two years ago and will hopefully never have to find another stylist again! My first visit to him my hair was long and I wanted bangs. Adam was the first stylist who understood how my hair works and cut very flattering bangs which I loved (and trust me I have had many versions of terrible bangs before). I had expressed to him then that I was always curious about going blonde and made an appt to turn my virgin black/brown hair lighter. We went for a short bob and highlights and I was just thrilled. My hair felt healthy and well taken care of! Then I wanted to go even lighter and I am super happy with it. Adam listened to exactly what I wanted and was never pushy about what to do. He spent a lot of time working on my hair and I didn't feel rushed at all. Not to mention he is a great conversationalist! I come here refularly for a fade and sometimes if im feeling like a color change. Adam is my go to, but, this is a salon full of education. So, if he has someone else shampoo/scalp massage me and teaches them during the process, I'm totally ok with it. It definitely doesnt hurt that their refreshments list is the longest, beat ive ever seen. Beer, champagne, mimosas, coffee, tea, juices, etc... Adam is a barber and a stylist so I get the old school barber haircut with the comfort of a full service salon. I'd reccommend anyone at this place, but, Adam is my the man. The salon owner Adam is a terrible person that cussed at and threatened me for posting this review even though I told him that I was refunded and didn't want to argue. I went in with nearly white hair and asked for heavily silver hair with some black for contrast. Many photos in Yudy's portfolio seemed to be exactly what I wanted and I have no idea how it came out so bad. I could have done it myself but I was afraid of the black bleeding on to the white so I went to a "pro". Well.... I'm sitting here with entirely black hair that is fried to the point of no return. When I politely texted her about it she was combative with zero empathy other than a "sorry you feel that way". What??? This isn't subjective, my hair was in worse condition leaving and didn't even have all of the dye washed out. She offered to "fix" it but it's impossible to go from poorly done black back to white. On top of that, I'd never want to go back here. While I was sitting with chemicals on my head she left twice for about 45 minutes each time. It was a bad experience all around. Lesson learned- don't pick a stylist off IG, especially if they don't tag their clients or location. I should have seen the red flags! Michael Lee is the gent who rescued my hair from a previous bad haircut. My stylist of 14 years moved to a remote location in Maui and I've not found another person who cuts hair exactly like he did until Michael Lee. He combed through my hair examining the cut, the texture of my hair while asking me all the important questions about how I styled my hair normally and what I wanted. I knew I wanted a bob with an accent undercut and he proceeded to give me a haircut that was transformative and that looked on my face & glasses. Plus I got my sassy undercut accent to boot! The most important thing about Michael Lee is his cutting methodology. He takes his time to study your hair, the texture & condition. He asked all the right questions about my lifestyle and how much time I was willing to spend on my hair. He proceeded to do the first phase of my haircut and when it was near completion he washed my hair to remove all the little bits and then continued his cutting. After that he blew dried my hair and then examined my hair cut to ensure it was perfect, snipping those few strands of hair as needed. If I could give the salon 0 stars I would not too sure where to start but let me just say this I received a text an hour prior to my appointment to see if I can come at a later time! I had already made an appointment that would fit my schedule given that I would have to leave work early to attend!! FYI I'm @ work at this time and don't work to far from salon 15 min tops! I received a text if they could change my appointment at a later time. I then replied right away letting them know that not to worry I can reschedule for another day I am in no rush set my phone back down back in my office desk when I decide to grab my phone back sometime later...... I realize they text saying that the prior time I booked for was ok !?! It was too late I thought it was convenient for myself and for them to just stay at work and they could keep on with their "busy" schedule. Once he realized I didn't show up at my appointment that they tried to change he then proceeded to text me which I now know was the owner the whole time lol texting me he seemed rude unprofessional and upset that I wasn't there his first text said "so you're at work"so this means that if I would have never text to change your appointment you wouldn't of came to the appointment you booked" I then repeated myself as to what I had text an hour prior to not worry and reschedule another day! He proceeded to go on a back-and-forth with me through text messages the first half of the text messages I was lied to was never told it was him Adam the owner until the end when he wanted to have his moment and threaten me he would charge me for the full amount of the haircut which I found kind of silly because by then I had already checked his yelp reviews and realized this wasn't the first time he was being unprofessional and rude people like him shouldn't be taken seriously lol horrible and unprofessional. Joyce Landicho has been cutting my short, very straight, very fine hair for 3 years and thank the heavens for that. I had been bouncing around from place to place but now that I've found Joyce, I'm staying put. She's got a great eye for short hair and has found a way to cut mine so that it doesn't just lay there on my head.
