I have been searching for a salon and stylist that truly cares about the health of your hair and who knows how to cut hair properly. Most salons CANNOT cut hair professionally even though they charge you for said "professional cut." Angela will give you an outstanding cut. I firmly believe that my hair grew faster and healthier because of it. My hair was so damaged, tangled and breaking off from hormones and stress. I'm really disappointed with my experience at Haute Headz. I was excited to try a new stylist after…read moreseeing her work on IG (Avery) and was prepared to spend more than I normally would, but I walked out feeling frustrated and like I didn't get what I paid for--especially at a $300 price point. The appointment started off uncomfortably when the stylist next to me overheard what I do for a living (title insurance) and commented that I work in "legalized extortion." Not only was this wildly inappropriate, it made me feel awkward and judged right from the start. I had a thorough consultation with my stylist and we agreed that to achieve the look I wanted--light ends contrasting with a deeper base--I'd need a full lightening service rather than the partial that was originally quoted. I agreed to the upcharge with the expectation that I'd get the desired result. Unfortunately, that's not what I got. Instead of a smooth, dimensional color, I ended up with chunky highlights, a grown-out root look, and ends that are still noticeably darker than the base. It looks like a rushed job and not at all the intentional contrast we discussed. To make things worse, there are two very obvious bright white spots at my hairline where toner was completely missed. I brought this up when I got home and noticed it (Avery really should have caught them when washing or styling my hair, they're quite obvious) and the stylist did offer to fix it, but her availability didn't line up with mine. I explained that I couldn't take another hour and a half off work to come in during the week, given the 30+ minute drive each way, which she knows because we live near each other. Rather than showing understanding, she got defensive and told me it wouldn't take long and that I should reach out to the salon owner if I had further concerns. The one bright spot in all this (well, other than the 2 in my hairline) is that the haircut turned out well, which is the only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one. But overall, this was a frustrating experience with results I'm unhappy with and a lack of professionalism I didn't expect from a salon at this price point. I won't be returning.

My last salon would attempt a balayage, but would always end up being more of an ombré which seems to be a common issue. Be warned, it is very pricey as she charges $100 per hour of application, but it is 100% worth it if you want stunning hair. Everyone is incredibly friendly and they are one of the only Bumble and Bumble salons in Jacksonville. All of the products smell amazing and are great for your hair. I have since convinced my sister to start going and Kelsey saved her over bleached hair and made it look natural again while blending her roots perfectly.
