This place continues to go downhill and today was the last straw. Made an appointment by phone on Tuesday for an important event tonite so I decided to splurge and treat myself to a blowout. Show up - the place is dark and door is locked with a sign saying they are out to lunch. I knock and then call their location in Larkspur/Greenbrae after waiting for 15 minutes thinking the stylist will return. I find out they closed "early" today and I should have received a notification. Nope, definitely did not receive ANYTHING. It's too bad- they had a terrific staff there 4 or 5 years ago and with a plethora of salons in Petaluma, I chose poorly on giving this place another shot. read more

I went in for mani-pedi a couple of weeks ago. The service was ok. There wasn't any massage as part of the service, which makes me feel that they're overpriced as the place I normally go is less expensive and includes massage. The nail polishing was pretty good - but my nails weren't trimmed evenly - lopsided on the nails. The worst part, for me, was that the two manicurist sat there discussing bad tippers... saying "don't our customers know that we count on those tips to live?" They went on and on about what a good tip is and what a bad tip is - Man, that was incredibly awkward, and unprofessional. I didn't have the nerve to say anything - but I won't be back. read more

Don't waste your money. Didn't have time to listen to what my goal in coming in was. I was looking for deep conditioning and hair strengthening since Wanted to wash my hair in a dirty sink, full of another customers hair. I had to ask to go to a clean one. Paid for $70 upgraded service and took them less than 2 minutes for shampoo and "deep conditioning " treatment. No attempt to make it right was told their deep conditioning was an add on and happened immediately didn't need to leave product in hair for any length of time Well I have been going to Kerastase salons for years and at a real Kerastase salons they do the deep conditioning for 10-15 min. I think this is more like an hair salon. I had my manicure done here last week but it was very bad honestly. The worst gel manicure ever. They used OPI which was a nice brand but the result came out terrible. They made my nail surface not smooth and the gel haven't even gotten totally dry but they removed the lighter from me, told me it's done because there was another customer came in. I didn't say anything to the staffs. Very disappointed. They charged me $35. But not worth at all. Maybe it's a nice hair salon but just don't come here for nails! read more

Every time I have come into Style, the girls are very friendly and accommodating. I always feel like a million bucks when I leave. Every time I have done my hair here I am greeted with kind staff, offered a beverage off of their complementary beverage menu (latte, cappuccino, champagne, tea, etc.), and then taken promptly to their very comfortable style chairs! I was contacted by the owner after she had read my review. She offered me a complimentary pedicure and requested I return for the service. It seems as though they have ironed out the kinks for their new location. My pedicure itself was much better this time. They were also much busier. Receptionist was very attentive and offered me beverages and magazines. All the positive things I had said in the previous review still apply. I always look for a place where I can get full beauty service, so when the Style Bar came to Petaluma, I was more than happy. There are so many good things I can say about this place. To start, when I got a blow out, the service was excellent. I walked in, they took me right away and began to service me. Not only was the service great, but the blowout lasted as well. Though the blowout is the only hair service I have ever gotten from there, I have seen others hair curled and braided that looks beautiful as well. Next, I got a set of shellac/gels from the Style Bar. I got then a little over a month ago and they have yet to chip or peel off. The only thing that has happened is that they have grown out, which is unavoidable. The nails were painted neatly, and the stylist knew exactly what I wanted, and even helped me pick out what I got. If you are debating on wether or not to go to the Style Bar, I wouldn't even hesitate to tell you that you should go. It is a clean salon that offers so many great services. I went and got the TLC Pedicure. It was awesome. Probably one of the best place places in petaluma. Very clean and the massage was wonderful. I cannot tell you how many times I get a massage with a pedi and it is a waste of time. Also, the place is so clean, easy parking, and the choices of nails are great. I made an appointment for a birthday manicure. It was my first manicure and being a guy, I wasn't sure what to expect. I showed up a few minutes early and was greeted warmly. I was offered a glass a cucumber water. Laura seated me and got to work. I kinda felt sorry for her because my hands are guy hands. but she did an amazing job. She fixed my cuticles, shaped my nails, and also told me how I can make sure my hands always look good. Then she dipped my hands in hot wax. I'm slightly ashamed that I acted like a wuss and whimpered. But the wax cooled off and it was actually kind if nice. Laura cleaned off the wax and gave me an amazing hot rock massage. That was really cool. I need to get me some. Or maybe I'll just go back to Style and get another manicure! I recommend this place for guys who want their hands to feel soft and not so grungy. The makeup artist did a FANTASTIC job but the hair stylist I had did NOT give me what I asked for. I think she was new and seemed more focused on the pizza that was ordered for lunch. I asked for volume, with big, hollywood glam curls. It ended up really flat on top with thin curls on the bottom. Didn't look professional, looked like I just went and curled it on my own. Whenever I get a blow out after a haircut my hair always has much more body than it did this time. The curling iron kept dying as well. Oh well. Nonetheless I'm glad a place like this exists in Petaluma. read more

Everyone is fantastic but Abby is the one who really understood what I needed and wanted. She suggested the Keratin treatment and I couldn't be happier as well as her blow outs are absolutely the best. She is kind, funny and very good at what she does. I wish I could give negative stars. What disappointing company, who cares nothing about their customers. I can see that others have had the same subpar experience from all the other reviews. So there I was waiting for my Five Guys order and I walked into Style Bar and decided to grab a Kerastaste conditioner that have been using for years off of their Kerastase shelf of products. I figured I'd put some money into the Petaluma economy and so I purchased the items and left. When I got home I decided to look the price of the items up on Amazon because it seemed really expensive compared to my regular salon price. I realized the price was 57.00 each instead of 27.00 each and I decided to return the items. My husband was running errands and brought the product back in for me and was told that they had a "no refunds" policy and they gave him a gift card. When he got home I said that I never saw the "no refund" policy anywhere or I wouldn't have purchased from there in the first place. So I went back in to look for their "no refund" policy and I found it no where at their register and not on their receipt either. So I explained myself to front desk girl and she pointed me to a sign on the shelf where the product was. So I walked over and on the second shelf to the right there was a small sign pushed back behind some products that I would never have seen if I hadn't been looking at the product on that shelf. One would literally have to be looking at that exact shelf and we all know how great people are at reading small signs of information we aren't looking for. So I told the girl, "here's what I did when I came in; I walked in and went to the shelf that had my product I wanted and I wasn't there to browse all of your shelves of products so I would never have even seen that sign unless I was looking on all of your shelves of products and happen to look at that shelf and look beyond your products to read what it said." I said, "I already knew my product I wanted, so I grabbed it and you rang me up and there is zero way I was told of or would know about your policy." Still, she said "this is our policy." which is such a slap in the face to the actual humans you are in business to serve. I said, "so you put your sign on a shelf that I'd only see if I was looking through all of your products and you put your policy no where else, but I'm supposed to purchase products with a clear sense of your return policy through that strategy that you're using?" And she embarrassingly said, 'you can talk to a manager when she's in next week' and I just thought ok, I guess I will spend more of my time to fix an issue that these people created. Way to value your customers and make them feel appreciated. Are we in 1994 and you don't know that all you have is your relationship with your customers and your reputation?? OMG, how ridiculous these people look. So I go back in and shocker the manager isn't in and we repeat the whole discussion again and nothing comes of it but a basic blow off and that's ultimately what I feel these people are all about. Instead of a blow dry, it's a big blow off to people who want to have a good relationship with them. So here's who they are...they sell stuff, don't tell you their policy but keep it hidden on one shelf that if you don't look at that one shelf then it's a big "gotcha" and we can only give you a store credit, scam. This tells you how much they don't value their customers, nor do they have a strategic business plan to actually support customers through respectful transactions that make you feel like you're doing business with people of integrity. What I know is that people who operate like this are full of drama and chaos and likely have a bunch of emotional problems in their ownership, their leadership and their business overall. If you have to scam people, you must be struggling. Thanks for putting your struggle on to me, an unsuspecting person who didn't know that I was in your web of chaos. A MAJOR apology is in order and I doubt these people are emotionally mature enough to admit that they are wrong and course correct the situation so that I don't tell everyone I know how poorly they treated me. Petaluma is a small town and I am well connected and influential and it's amazing to me how little people get what their actions produce in losses for them. And typically when someone knows they are wrong they just dig in to defend their unethical actions and so I'm not holding my breath. read more

My mom and I came here to get our nails done for my wedding. Since we are not from the area, I was a little worried but we had a very nice experience. We had the style signature pedicure done as well as a shellac mani. Both our nails turned out great and when I came in the next day with slight scratches on a couple of my nails they were efficiently fixed. I've been to the Style Bar 3 times for a blowout and was never disappointed. I have a lot of hair and none of the three girls ever complained and they each did a great job. I will definitely go back for a blowout! I went for my nails because my regular place was too busy. They squeezed me in right away which was great and the girl who did my nails was very friendly and sweet. However the manicure and pedicure was only okay. The bench you sit on for pedicure was really uncomfortable and my toe was smudged when I got home even though she did my pedicure first. My nails had a big bubble in them that I could only see when I got outside and my thumbnail broke that night. My cuticle beds are already peeling and three more of my nails have either broken or chipped and it's only been 4 days. Plus it was the most I've ever paid to have my nails done. I've been to The Style Bar twice and both times I had a good experience while there but everything that I had done wasn't done very well. First visit, I got a full set of acrylics and they ended up popping off within the first 12 hours after being done which was disappointing after paying a lot of money for them. Second visit, I got my hair styled for graduation. My hair holds curl very well and after getting it styled, the curls lasted about 30 minutes. Very disappointed and will not be returning. read more

I recently went in to possibly schedule an appointment or do a walk in. One of the stylists one of the estheticians we're sitting around gabbing 3 feet from the front desk.... And proceeded to immediately started whispering back and forth about me as I'm talking to the receptionist. Here's a tip little girls, you don't start talking shit about potential clients the moment they walk in the door. It's bad for business, word gets around in a small town like Petaluma, and nobody wants to be whispered about as soon as I walk into establishment. I won a silent auctionpackage earlier this year and a mani pedi certificate here was part of it and a bottle of shampoo with conditioner. Cost about $120. I finally scheduled my services before my trip and showed up for my appointment at 11:45am. The manicurist told me she had been doing nails for 8 years. I'm going to save the boring details but this was literally the worst experience I've ever had. It took her from 11:45 to 2:15 to do my mani and pedi because I kept having to get her to fix things. Additionally, I asked her to do some art work on my big toe only and she said they are an express salon and they don't do art work there but she would make an exception....... I showed her a simple design from the web and not only did it not look anything like the photo but they charged me extra for the artwork and then tried to charge me extra for taking off gel polish from my fingers even though I had gel polish put back on. 3.5 hours is an express service? When I see that they list nail art as a service I have to laugh. I told the girl at the check out what happened and she asked how much tip I wanted to leave... REALLY? read more

This time however, I am extremely disappointed. For around $40, my nails should stay on and not lift for more than a week. Currently, 2 nails have already popped off, one while closing a door, and the other while picking up a pillow... A pillow! Not to mention I have about 3 other nails lifting. It's not even close to time for a fill, not that I would want to come back here again anyways. After searching for many months for a stylist or venue (even looked into traveling stylists-many of them!) Style opened about 5 months before my wedding in Petaluma. I got married on a Sunday so my options were limited. Style solved every problem I was facing from price to being opened on a Sunday. Their prices are so reasonable and they don't charge you a ridiculous amount just for being a bride. Same prices for an updo and getting your makeup done regardless. I had 2 trials done before my wedding and Style went out of their way to accommodate a rather large group of ladies to get a variety of services done. My mother-in-law has even been back a few times since the wedding! Use Style for all of your needs, they are wonderful! read more
