We have tried several other groomers, some more expensive and some less... but trust me, our pup never has been this clean and soft for WEEKS after coming home from The Sudsy Puppy. We have had a great few experiences here after taking our pup to several places for a bath and deshedding treatment. I love that their deshedding package comes with a nail grind and it's so quick and clean during drop off and pick up. They always are great about an estimate of time and then giving me plenty of notice to when our pup is ready to be picked up (without threatening me for extra fees like their rude competitors). Our pup has been seeing Emily and she even got some playtime in at her most recent visit. I'm a little perplexed by the low ratings as we've had nothing but great experiences. read more

What a five star establishment. Super clean and modern with tons of energetics employees that meet and greet you at the door. It has a small area for baked goods and other dog supplies really makes this place stand out. Sarah my dog's groomer, did exactly as I requested on the cutting of my dogs hair. He was so happy and fluffy after his appointment. I can't wait to take him back. I cannot comment on the grooming skills here but I can say that everyone at the front desk was very friendly and accommodating when I took my dog in for a self wash! Their tubs were clean, the blow dryers worked really well, and you get the room for 1 hour ($23). One area for improvement would be to have shampoo and conditioner available rather than just the premixed/diluted shampoo bottle. But either way, great experience and we will be back!!! read more

I have always liked this place and they are efficient, quick, and friendly, however, their price to groom my dog has gone up 30% since December of 2022, now it's the beginning of May 2023. While I understand having to up the fee a bit more, 30% is just insane. My pay is the same, certainly not increased by 30% over the last months, so they have worked themselves out of a customer. I am on the search for a more affordable groomer. *Wow, I just read all the reviews (I should have before, but have used them for the last three years and thought it was good). Had I seen all these negative reviews, I'd have never taken him there in the first place. Sadly, I was just thinking of taking our other dog there (a Boston we normally bath ourselves, but is kind of a pain with nail clipping) but after the increased price and all these reviews, I'll never take either of them there again. read more

I rebooked 2 years later hoping for the same experience, but unfortunately it was absolutely not!! After booking my dog minimally 1.5 weeks in advance they called me THE DAY BEFORE to say my dog had a $100 balance due from a no call. PROBLEM NUMBER 1, they stated it was from a time that I did not have a dog at all! When I told them that they switched the story and said it was from the year prior to the one they initially stated! Which made me feel like now they're just scamming accounts at the last minute! The fees have been changing regularly due to "inflation" allegedly. Just do yourself a favor and pay attention to your receipts and details they're clearly trying to scam people for more money! read more

We have two dogs, one is a chihuahua, the other a chihuahua mix, and we brought them twice for grooming. The first grooming our chihuahua came home with a barky cough, we assume from the harness used around his neck during grooming. Chihuahuas have issues with trachea collapse and we assumed that the groomer would have been cognizant of that and used a cross harness. We had to follow up with our vet to be sure no damage was done. They called to follow up on that first grooming and assured us that they were going to use the safer harness next time.   The second grooming seemed to go well, no cough after, but they asked what we wanted done and we told them "Everything that you did last time and can you please be sure to express their anal glands?" But it was a verbal ask, while they were getting the dogs from us, and they "do not recall us asking". This would not be an issue if our dog didn't have issues with his anal glands expressing themselves spontaneously (if they are not expressed regularly it comes out by itself and ends up all over our house).  I called to ask if the glands were expressed and explained that I had asked (and paid for it) but they said they did not remember and that they "are not responsible for how often our dog's anal glands express themselves." We specifically take our dogs to be groomed more frequently (than their coats require) because of the anal gland issue. When we brought them in not only did we ask for the anal glands to be done we said specifically, "please do everything you did last time" which includes the glands because there was zero issues last time. The person who answered the phone made it about how I complained after both groomings instead of how it was their oversight. There were no apologies and after telling me they had no control over my dog's issues I said I would take my dogs elsewhere and they told me that it was obvious it was not a good fit because I complained after both groomings. I was going to give it two groomings before providing a positive review (the second groomer seemed very nice and thorough) but now that my dog's hiney is leaking all over the furniture and pet beds, I am not impressed.  If they had apologized and said we could take him back (free of charge) to have the glands expressed,there would not have been an issue (and we would have tipped). The receptionist was extremely rude and reactionary, not customer focused, and so I guess they saved me from dealing with that again. I look forward to posting a positive review of wherever we go next. read more

They charged me for 2 dogs instead of the one booked and wouldn't change their stance on their error. I've been taking my dogs here for a few months and wanted to leave a review to warn others. I had an appointment for my 2 dogs and they called me the day before asking if I wanted to bring them in much earlier. I declined and opted to keep my appointment in the afternoon. Then they send me a very short text informing they will be closing early due to inclement weather. They obviously knew they were going to close early the day prior when they called me to ask me to move my appointment. They didn't apologize for the inconvenience or offer any kind of good customer service. I'm very disappointed with the way they handled the situation. I will NOT be bringing my dogs back here. With the poor service I received today I've decided for the first time in my life to leave an online review. I made my appointment a good month ago....My girlfriend had emergency surgery Sunday night and therefore cannot drive. I called this morning explaining that I'd have to leave by 1:30 to get her to a doctors appointment on time. So I was told from start to finish they could be done in 60 - 90 minutes . I said, if you can move the appointment up to 12:30 and be done in an hour it would work. She said yes we can do that. So I drop off my dog at 12:20 to give them a little extra time. Once again I stressed that I was on a tight time schedule to please have his hair cut within the hour. After a dirty look she said we will try. So I go run some errands then came back and sat in my car for a half hour. Once the full hour was over I went in to pay and get my dog. After paying the cashier said let me check on your dog.....She returns to tell me its going to be another hour. So now I'm very frustrated.....I do know how I could had communicated this any better. Well the doctors office was an hour away and they wasted a half hour of my time by not doing what they said they were going to do and then here's where the fun begins..... Before leaving I asked what time they closed so I could return after the doctors appointment. Her answer was when the last dog is picked up. So I throw my hands in the air and said well I guess I'll be the last one to pick up his dog. Next I received a phone call from either the manager or owner. Whoever she was she really needs to learn how to provide customer service. She has definitely lost me as a customer. She calls to tell me my dog is ready. I tried to explain the situation however I do believe its kinda hard to listen when you won't stop talking.....and I'll add, rudely talking over me. Over and over she's trying to tell me I needed to come in right then and there to pick him up. The fact that I was an hour away just didn't matter. Never once did she apologize for their very poor communication. I guess she just doesn't care. I'm sure there are other dog groomers in the area that do care. read more

Took my dog to the Crofton location this morning to use the self-wash for the first time and was very pleased! The staff was super friendly and helpful. The room was the perfect size - plenty of room for 2 people but small enough to be able to corner your dog if necessary (my pup didn't like the blow dryer so this was necessary lol). They provide everything: an apron, towels, brushes, shampoo and the dryer. And very affordable. I will definitely be taking my pup back for his baths in between grooming appointments and im going to try to get back without him to check out all the goodies they had in there. read more

The first visit was great. The groomers okay I think, BUT the business practices are horrible. Customer beware! They up-charge every single time you go back to pick up your dog. The third recent visit is my last. They make up a story about imaginary matting and needing more time. They throw in brushing teeth. No asking you. I had to pay $270 not including a tip for two dogs , bathing, cut and comb. No toenails or anal glands done. I have a real problem paying a dog service more money per hour than my physician makes. I will never go back to them. And a big thing is this: my dogs tried to break the door down to get out of there. They were visually upset and shaking when brought out to me. My large dog broke out of his collar and has never done that before. It seems like someone went to a seminar and learned how to up-charge. I have just found out that four other people I know had the same experience and they, like me, will never return. I took my Pomeranian puppy to the sudsy puppy to be groomed on 2/26/21. I chose this place because it had good reviews on Google reviews. I showed the groomer Brandon a picture of the cut I wanted for my pup. To his credit, he did explain that because her coat was still growing he may not be able to cut her entire body, which I was fine with. However, i told him that I wasn't as concerned about her body being trimmed as I was about her head being evenly trimmed. When I went to pick my dog up she looked like all they did was give her a bath and that was it. They didn't provide any bows or bandannas like other groomers do. When we got to the car, my husband said "what did they do to her, she looks the same". I said she smells good. I was actually really upset because they charge $75 and she did not look like a professional groomer had touched her. I was just like, I'm not taking her back there. On Sunday 2/28/21, I was contacted by the Sudsy Puppy to see if I was happy with my service and I told them no and what my issue was. They did offer for me to bring my dog back so they could fix it. I took her back on 3/5/21 and this time Olivia trimmed my dog. I asked her had she ever cut a Pom before and she said yes and that she would do what she could after I showed her a reference pic. I told her if she didn't think she could do it to let me know so I won't waste my time. She took my dog and literally spent between 5 and 7 minutes if that on her. She did trim her head but you could definitely tell it was a rush job (see pics). The staff at the Sudsy Puppy is nice, but I just don't feel like the grooming service is up to par, especially with the amount they charge. I don't have a problem paying for a service, but it needs to look like and feel worth it. The picture I showed Olivia is of my previous Pom and my current Pom's head trim looks a hot mess. I've come to the conclusion their groomers don't know what they are doing and the service is not worth the money they charge. I don't recommend this place. No one has time or money to waste especially during these tough economic times. read more

Recently moved to AA Co and was in need a a reliable groomer for my 70 lb Wheaten/Lab mix. I requested a groomer that was experienced and understanding of timid dogs. Sara did a wonderful job with Layla, who was in much need of a nail trim and bath. Layla was very comfortable with coming out of the groomer and looked wonderful. Sara did an upgrade by blowing her coat as Layla was shedding. I will be taking her back for nails trims also in between bathings. Very pleased with the outcome all around. read more

I wish I had the option to give less than 1 star. I have a 16 month old bernese mountain dog who is ~70 lbs. He is very sweet, but as most puppies are- hyper. My husband called today (5/2/2023) to set up an appointment for him to get groomed and the Sudsy puppy told my husband that unless we medicate him to calm him down, they are refusing to care for him. I am appalled by this. I should not have to drug my dog for you to do your job. I am a Nurse Practitioner and if I drugged my patients to do my job.... I would be fired. This is the 1st time I've ever felt complied to write a review. So here it goes. I called the scheduling line and was greeted my a very nice comforting receptionist as she calmed my nerves - I explain to her that my puppy had matting under his ears and really needed it cut out because it was bothering him. She told me, "Don't worry! We will take care of you. This is their job." I felt relieved. They said they will need to do an evaluation 1st to see how he does since he is a puppy and never had grooming done. Me - great. We go to the appointment, enter the doors, and receptionist asked who we were and I said - this is Ranger, we have an evaluation appointment at Noon. She says ok. Let me go back and tell the manager. She goes in the back - and I over hear there conversation - the receptionist is saying to the Manager - your appointment is here and she says - I don't have one - I didn't even know she was coming - and I don't have time. Receptionist says - well she is here and I am not turning them away. The Manager's voice get louder and seems annoyed. The receptionist comes out and doesn't say anything. Then a groomer comes out and stands there very unwelcoming - doesn't smile says nothing. Doesn't greet my dog. My dog senses - this doesn't feel right so he starts barking and is very timid of her because she was just staring at him (very weird). So, I asked her, what's going on here - am I just to stand here? The groomer says - wells he's barking and then walks in the back and says I need to grab the manager. The manager comes out - NOT welcoming, no smile, seems annoyed - doesn't greet the dog - just comes off very hard. My dog isn't stupid - picks up on it - and begins to bark again. She then proceeds to tell me - we can't take him (in my head - I'm like good - because he doesn't like you). She then asks how he does at the vet - I said he's been twice (7 months old). 1st appointment didn't go well because he was scared. 2nd appointment he did amazing. Manager says very snarky - you mean he's only been to 2 vet appointments?? Isn't he 7?? I said he is 7 months - she then was like - well he needs medication and you better nip this in the butt - because he can't act like that or you going to have a hard time with him. In my head - Excuse me - this is what you suggest?? NOT once did you greet him with joy, show a smile, or even give him a small treat. Your presence exhibited annoyance and you come off very cold. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. If they can't even greet people or the animals with a calm and welcoming presence, then I honestly Don't foresee them in business for too long. I am appalled by the lack of service excellence and wouldn't trust them with my pet. read more

I wanted to share my experience with you I don't want someone to make the same mistake I have with this company. The Sudsy Puppy is NOT a good place to take your pet if he is over 50LBS. They are not equipped to handle larger puppies nor do they want to deal with them. I had been taking my puppy to them and everything was going well until he got over 50 lbs and the price and service when downhill quickly. I had a lengthy phone call with the booking person discussing that my dog was slightly anxious but a super sweet 9 year old Golden retriever. We talked about the fact that I had a mobile groomer shave her topcoat all off and that was a big incident that I did not want to have happen again. we set up an evaluation where I talked to the groomer yesterday, and we said that we would like a tight trim and she was to trim my dogs hair to the length that was on her upper back which was probably an inch and a quarter to an inch and a half. we noted that there were some matted areas under her arms and at her butt underneath her tail that might need to be shaved. This is typically what our groomers do (7+ years of good experiences in this) and they just trim the rest of the coat. I left thinking that I had found a great groomer because it was recommended highly. My husband was the person that picked up our dog two hours later, and paid a $160 bill, texted me -'she is just shaved, are you kidding me?' At which point he drove her home. I was absolutely furious and fuming. Our dog was completely shaved with the exception of her head , lower legs and tail. I drove back to Sudsy Puppy Severna Park and had a very heated conversation with the receptionist stating how incredibly angry I was, that when I left it was understood that we did not want our dog shaved that we wanted her hair the length by her neck all over. I spoke to her about not wanting a topcoat to be removed because that's bad for this breed and I figured groomers would know that. Please if you have a breed with a topcoat such as this, do not take your dog here out of I said if there was any change in the plan we verbally agreed upon, that I should've been contacted. The receptionist said she knew what I was talking about and overheard the conversation before I left my dog there. She said she didn't understand why there would've been a miscommunication. She said she would talk to the owner, the groomer, and her manager and give me a call the next day. Today I received a call from the establishment and the receptionist said that they really wanted to give their apologies that there was a hiccup on their end. The groomer told her that once they got her back and zipped off the matted areas, that they thought they "wouldn't be able to make things look even" so that's why they shaved 4 to 5 inches of her beautiful fur off all over her body. I again stated that this is absolutely ridiculous, that there is no reason that I should've left thinking that my dog would have anything other than what was discussed. That this is way more than a hiccup, this is a huge, huge problem. I said that their groomers should know that that is not a good practice to shave off top coats of dogs, especially when it was discussed prior that we did not want that. The first things you will find if you search online are that dogs with topcoats should never be shaved. It is a misconception that it helps in anyway. Topcoat help regulate temperature and protect skin. I said that it was the only thing I didn't want to have happen. The only thing that the receptionist could to do was give me apologies and say that it was a mistake that they didn't let me know that they were going to just shave her to make it even. Mind you, her legs and arms have trimmed hair ---She looks incredibly ridiculous with a shaved body and fluffed out arms and legs. And they want me to believe that this looks even? I don't know if someone made a complete mistake and just did it or what, but please beware that this is not a groomer you want to take your dog to. I should not be paying for the cut at all - and even that will not fix it. My dog will have to wait three months for her topcoat to grow out. This is beyond reprehensible. I am angry and absolutely saddened that this happened. Please do not take your dog to this establishment. I will say that the poor receptionist had an awful job of delivering this communication to me and was very kind. If I were her I would leave the establishment as it appears that managers and owners and groomers have no idea what they're doing and have nothing more than apologies when they make huge mistakes. I put my trust in them and I am absolutely floored that they would do exactly what I asked them not to. BEWARE!!!! read more

Since moving to Anne Arundel County, I have been on the hunt for my basic services, unlike Baltimore you can find something on every corner or every shopping center. One day while driving I came across The Sudsy Puppy ad/logo on a staff members vehicle and I thought they could be the answer to my grooming needs. Well needless to say they absolutely are! It was super easy to make an appointment to find out general prices. There was a little confusion as I thought they were a mobile vet. However, their salon is in Severna Park, in a cute little business park setting. Their staff was super nice and my little pup received the best hair cut maybe she has ever received. This was a new experience for both me and the little dog, but enjoyable and easy on my end and my little one seemed thrilled . Her hair cut is amazing and a great close cut by the face. I called for an urgent appointment after I was double booked/cancelled by my regular groomer and was able to be seen by Sudsy Puppy the very next day. They were friendly and gentle with my nervous Yorkie. The registration process was simple and we were in and out in under two hours. My pup looked and smelled like a new puppy after her session and the ladies were very courteous and professional. My only concern was that her gland expression may have been a bit difficult because she was reluctant to 'go' for a day and a half after her grooming so I will ask the ladies to perhaps be a little gentler with that area on her next visit. Used this business for several very satisfactory grooming appointments. Latest, however, was very disappointing. Prior groomer was no longer employed. Agreed when appointment was made for a 2 and one half hour max for grooming due to an appointment that I had to make later. Even adjusted appointment time an hour earlier to make sure. Upon arrival was informed that the dog would be available after 4 and 1/2 hours. The front desk said that was what I wanted. Ridiculous!!! The groomer refused to accommodate a 2 and 1/2 hour session. Consequently I had to go home with an ungroomed dog. I cancelled two future appointments . Unacceptable. read more

I was looking for a self dog wash in the area. Came across this location and was really pleased with the equipment and amenities. I decided to schedule a bath and deshedding for my dog while I was there. I asked the cost and was informed immediately there would be a price increase over the next couple weeks and I would be notified before my groom. I received a very passive aggressive mass email from the owners as to why there was a price increase. The tone of the email rubbed me the wrong way but I moved passed it and kept my appointment. Over the next two weeks I received a call asking if I wanted to move up my appointment. I declined. A few days before my appointment, I received another call asking if I would like to move up my appointment. I chose another time and figured that was me confirming. I received several additional calls and texts asking to confirm my appointment which I thought was a bit excessive. The last text I received came with a threat to cancel my appointment if they didn't hear from me.......as if I hadn't spoken to them enough. The entire exchange pushed me over and I decided to cancel. Management could really look into some training on customer interaction and communication. It's a bummer. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PROFESSIONALISM. I have NEVER written a bad review, but I was so floored, that I have to do this as a warning to others. As a new Goldendoodle owner with no previous experience getting dogs groomed, I was extremely disappointed with Sudsy Pup. First thing that was frustrating was the online booking system. Back on August 3rd, I had thought I booked a full grooming for our golden doodle with an additional nail filing. When I arrived, they informed me that it was not booked as a grooming session and said the additional service was an anal gland expression. Definitely not!! They didn't do a full groom but trimmed her up and she looked great. Fast forward to September....I dropped her off and the older unkempt lady petted her and said, "Oh, you're a mess." I was extremely offended. After talking with this unkempt older woman, I left very disappointed and cried the whole way home. She told me that my doodle was matted and that Kaitlin would call me and let me know what she could do. Kaitlin called me and was extremely rude on the phone and said my dog was severely matted and that she needed to be shaved and would charge extra. I didn't understand how she was so matted because we have been brushing her everyday. I told her I would come pick her up and not to do anything with her. Her response was, "That's fine, but if you take her someplace else, they will shave her down too." She was extremely condescending and made me feel like a horrible dog owner. When I went to pick our dog up, the girl with a short ponytail and her hair shaved underneath (which was Kaitlin) was very rude and not professional at all. I expressed my concern with how unhappy I was with the older woman making her comment about my dog being a mess and Kaitlin continued to stare at me and not say a word. She turned around and walked through a door and slammed it. I was appalled. I then talked to a manager, who was nice and explained things to me. She tried to make it right and was helpful but I will never return to Sudsy Pup again and definitely DO NOT recommend them. Instead of getting an attitude and being rude and offensive, maybe you should educate your clients on how to brush their beloved pets so they don't need to be shaved down in the future. And clearly, your employees are very unhappy in their lives or else they wouldn't treat clients the way that I was treated. My Shiz Tzus love coming here for their spa day for 10 years. The girls always seem to friendly and welcoming to my boys as well. Once you know what type of cut you want to have your dog, it is seamless when you drop them off. You just check them in and say you want the same cut. I took my Great Pyrenees to get a bath and cut on July 22nd. Because of the pandemic I was having trouble getting in with our regular groomer so I made an appointment with the Sudsy Puppy groomer. When I dropped him off they checked him over and seemed hesitant and questioned me several times on what type of cut I wanted, "not too short but trimmed up because of the heat". They took him back and I figured it would take several hours because of his size and amount of hair. I was prepared to pay over $100 because I realize he's a lot of work. My regular groomer usually charges around $120 for a bath, brush out and cut. I figured it might be a bit more because of the amount of time between grooming. About 2 hours into the grooming I get a call from them saying that my dog seems tired and they won't be able to cut his hair. They had bathed and brushed him but because he "seemed' tired they would have to make another appointment to bring him back to get a trim. (I didn't ask but I assumed that another appointment would be another fee) They said they would finish his nails and drying him and then call to be picked up. I questioned them on the phone and explained that I really wanted his hair cut because of the summer heat and that he was panting all the time and needed some of his hair cut. They continued to say he was tired and could't cut his hair. They called about 30 min. later for me to come get him. When I picked him up he did look very clean but they charged me $160! This was with no cut, just a bath and brush out. I didn't even question it, just resigned myself that we wouldn't be going back there again. When I started walking my dog to get in the car he was limping terribly on his front and back left legs. I've never seen him limp like this. He honestly seemed traumatized. I walked back into the office to ask the lady at the counter if anything had happened during the grooming because he could hardly walk. She said no and came outside to see how he was walking. She seemed baffled as to what could have caused the limping. I could barely get him into my car because he couldn't jump up. He limped for the next day and then seemed to improve. I have no idea what happened to him during that grooming but I can assure you that we will not be going back. As I said earlier, he was traumatized. I've been having him groomed for 7 years and have never had anything like this happen. read more

The groomers do a great job depending on the groomer, however their prices are outrageous. I was charged 79.00 for a groom and then I got a call they were going to up charge me for matting. I gladly said yes and when I received my bill they charged me an additional 47.00 and then another 15.00! Almost the same price as my groom and my dog was not that bad at all! I thought it would be a 15 upcharge but they charge based on time not a flat fee!! Please be careful and have you dog examined throughly in front of a groomer prior to dropping off.
