It's always a good time at the Sullivan House. This is at least, but the best - place to get a nice pint of Guinness poured. Great service and great atmosphere. The community of this pub is respectful which is so much appreciated. The bartenders do look out after you and are aware of their surroundings. Love it here. This is located in downtown so parking can be a problem. There's a beautiful full bar, a couple of hightops and several booths. Thrrr are a couple tables outside on the sidewalk. Sit where you want and grab your menus at the bar. Our server came pretty quickly. Food was also served quickly. I had the potato soup, which was good but lukewarm. Came back after a great experience the first time we stopped by! And this time there was live music which was awesome!! We got a table and ordered some food. I got the fish & chips which is a classic. The fish & chips are made with Cod which was abolutelty delicious. The fish was fried to perfection and moist on the inside. They give it with the signature malt vinegar and tartar sauce. The fries are utter perfection. OMG I could've had a whole basket of fries and die happy. Its amazing!!! Again, love the bartenders! Hidden gym in downtown historical Sanford. This is Sanford's only Irish Pub and it boast some of the best live music pretty much every single night. The food will definitely surprise you and I highly recommend the pub chips. Larry loves Irish food and when we saw the Sullivan House served it we knew we had to try it. We got there just as they were opening and were given a friendly greeting. After perusing the menu we decided to split the Scotch egg as a starter. It's a boiled egg wrapped in sausage deep fried and served with a sweet onion relish. Neither of us had ever had one but we thought it was great and will definitely order again. For his meal Larry had corned beef and cabbage. He said it was probably the best he ever had. I ordered Shepherds pie. The meat is a blend of lamb and pork which is mixed with carrots, peas, celery and onions topped with rosemary mashed potatoes served with soda bread. This was a first time visit to The Sullivan. There are dark wooden booths lining the walls with a bar in the back. There is a stage front and center at the window. The service was great, and the server nice. She spoke to me about some local event that was happening when I inquire about it. The food was a little disappointing. I found the fish needed salt. There was a little heat but it lacked the proper seasoning. Next time maybe I'll try the Shephard pie. read more

What a hidden gem. I love everything about Sanford and this may be my new favorite place! Variety of beers, Irish whiskeys and cocktails. We had the Scottish egg and Fish and chips. Both dishes were very good. The fish was crispy and egg was great (according to my husband). I don't do eggs. Several beer selections and our bartender was great! Loved this place! Live music. Seat yourself. Place order at the bar. Sounds chaotic, but it totally works. There are servers who do deliver food and check on you. I had onion rings and a wedge salad with the Sullivan option (Parmesan cheese, bacon and a balsamic reduction). I didn't see much bacon on it (the Sullivan addition was $4 extra), but the server was amazing and brought out a small cup of cut bacon! She was awesome! My husband had the shepherds pie. Ohhh my! So good! The bartender forgot to put in his order, but it came out quickly enough. He was given a free Guinness while he waited. The staff were so good! Located in downtown Sanford and it is a cozy spot. They no longer serve food. Just drinks, music and the company of other people.

I was there for St. Patrick's Day 2025, and the setup/food service made the experience frustrating. You have to order food at the bar, which is not necessarily an issue, but when the food came out they didn't bring napkins, utensils, or condiments. No napkins? They didn't ask if we needed anything, just dropped off the food and I was thinking they were coming back. So, I to go to the bar to get these things while the wait to get someone's attention was long due to being St. Patrick's Day. Water was also self serve, which I didn't know, but when I found the water dispenser, it was out of water so...back to the bar to get someone's attention. Finally at the end of the meal, back to the bar again to get lids for our food to go. I think they could streamline this setup by having a napkin dispenser/stack, a bucket of utensil sets, and condiment bottles for people grab at the far end of the bar which has a lot of space. On the positive side, the food was very good. The scotch egg, bangers and mash, and fish and chips were all excellent. read more

When you can honestly say that everything you had at a restaurant was the best of that thing you've ever had, that's saying something. I doubt anyone in Seminole County will argue the best Shephard's Pie is at The Sullivan. But you'd be hard-pressed to not include they also have the best Scotch Egg AND best Bread Pudding. I arrived as the first patron today because there is NO WAY I'm getting in here tomorrow (St. Patty's). This huge, lovely, and lively pub-taurant even has an Irish Snug - a small dining area with a booth next to the bar where you can sit and enjoy putting faith in your begorra (first come, first served). Fortunately, they also carried my preferred whiskey (Irish Mist). The Scotch Egg was excellent and don't forget to slap a bit of that sweet onion relish on top. But that pie - oh my! Spectacular. Delish mashed over perfectly seasoned lamb and pork with yummy peas - I passed on adding cheese and think I made the right call. You don't need anything extra on this dish - it is perfection as served. I said "what the hell" and ended with the bread pudding...and saw God. Not really, but pretty damn close because it was fantastic - and I'm not even a huge fan of bread pudding. This was, maybe, the second time in my life I'd ever ordered it. This bar is my new favorite spot!! Yes it has Guinness and whiskey galore (my faves) but the staff is incredibly amazing and kind. They usually have live music which we always enjoy, drinks are always good and the food is delicious. Hubby and I ordered the Meatloaf sandwich and shepherd's pie. We were impressed with both. They not only looked good, they tasted so good too. I still wish their food supplier would bring back their mini donuts. Those little things were AMAZING and we told all our friends about them and we all still talk about them! They were served hot with whipped cream and caramel whiskey sauce. I was expecting just a regular, old order of beef but this FAR exceeded any expectations I had. The food was AWESOME -- this is by far the best corned beef I have ever had. There is something in the flavors that just work (it might have been the mustard, but whatever it was was phenomenal). The meat was tender and delicious and didn't have the fatty pieces that sometimes comes with corned beef. The potatoes and cabbage were just as delicious, and the piece of bread you dipped into the sauce was good too. A quaint pub in the center of downtown Sanford was lively but not so loud you couldn't enjoy the company you were with. Beautiful carved bar. Pretty good choices of draft and bottled beers. We didn't have any hard liquor but there were many bottles displayed and available. We read that the food was great but were disappointed. My "Irish Tacos" were barely warm and had little on them. My husband had the "Meatloaf Sandwich" which he said was just OK. The Sullivan for me was an oasis of excellence during an otherwise terrible afternoon. My wife and I were having an awful day in Central Florida until we stumbled into this slice of heaven. The bartender was friendly, the music was good, and the delicious local beers helped turn the day around. We basically just stopped in here hoping to wait for an uber but ended up having a pair of excellent (Central 28) beers and one of the best baskets of fries around.
