Camp House Bar and Grill is nearby to our new home, so it made for a quick and easy meal. We arrived around 5:45 on a Sunday evening and were leaving a hour later. The interior is unique and has animals mounted all around. Would be a fun place to come with friends. The food on the other hand is very subpar. It lacked in flavor and was nothing special, especially the Mac and cheese which was definitely microwaved. We would come back to hang out with friends but wouldn't recommend a delicious meal. read more

If you're looking for a local spot, Camp House is a really good spot... Florida at its finest! Had the hot honey gold wings. Very good, but wished it was a little more spicy. Sat at the bar and the service was excellent. Great local spot if you need to leave the safe confines of your four-star hotel. We Met Emerson and wife and they invited us over to their place. We were in the road and in the Sanford area, so we decided to give them a try. We had our little dog with us and we asked if she could come in with us. They let us do that, which was awesome. My wife got the patty melt and I got the brisket dinner. The black-eyed peas, collards green and coleslaw were all really good. The brisket was really tender and fatty, as expected. The patty melt was also good tasting. The service was good. Parking was OK. Easy to find. Most importantly, the food was all good. Thanks you two for the recommendation. We loved it. read more

The parking lot is a bit small but there's an unpaved attached lot as well. There's a patio with the bar open to the patio and the restaurant. The dining room has several TVs and lots of mounted animals. Service was fair, but they were pretty busy so expected I had pulled pork which was NOT pulled it was clumped. Tasted ok but there was a chunk of bone in it. Cole slaw was average Gator tots were good. Coke products but not Coke Zero. Most of my score is due to the great atmosphere. I regret to say that I have never eaten at the Camp House until now, and man, have I been missing out on some great local food. I have been here for several fundraisers in the past but was unable to stay long enough to order a meal. I've been bugging my wife for the last several weeks that we need to stop in for a date night and give them a try, so last night, she obliged. Although the guest dining area is kept spotless, Covid-19 measures are not strictly enforced, so if you are petrified of a potential risk, this may not be the place for you. It was a bit cold out, so we decided to dine inside, surrounded by the beautiful wooden interior. Inside you will find a medium-sized bar, several large picnic tables, and five-four tops along the far wall. Multiple taxidermized animals such as a wild boar, wild turkey, raccoon, and deer embellishing the walls providing a hunting lodge feel to the overall experience. Also, there are TV's strategically placed so that customers can catch their favorite series or event from HGTV, History Channel, or ESPN. The outside patio provides additional picnic tables and four top style seating with ample room to move around. Once seated, our server Taylor was quick to take our drink and food orders. I ordered a Personal Pitcher of Amberbock ($8), the Full Rib Dinner with mac-n-cheese, and baked beans ($19.99). My wife ordered the Fish-n-chips with collard greens and coleslaw ($11.99). We were the only customers ordering food, so our dinners were ready in about 20-minutes. My ribs were tender, smokey, seasoned-well, and delicious with or without sauce. The mac-n-cheese was creamy, cheesy, and fresh, and the baked beans were hearty-sweet-n-tasty! My wife's fish-n-chips came with two FAT fillets of lightly fried flaky cod that blows away anything I've ordered downtown. She wasn't crazy about the collard greens but loved the coleslaw. All-n-all, we had a great experience at Camp House. The staff provided exceptional service, the restaurant was clean and organized, the food was delicious, we enjoyed the ambiance and competitive pricing. I don't know what took me so long to stop here for dinner, but we will be back very soon. Great job, Camp House! read more

This place does not look like much from the road but once you're inside you will love it. They have the best ribs in Sanford! They have a full bar and drink specials daily. Tonight we enjoyed a pitcher of AmberBock for $8 dollars. Lots of delicious barbecue and other items to choose from on the menu and the prices are reasonable. Small TVs at each table. Tonight I tried the grilled chicken salad it was delicious and the ribs were cooked too perfection. The baked beans and the coleslaw here are outstanding. What a hidden gem! We arrived around 12:30 and the lunch time crowd was bustling. Lucky us a table was just being cleaned. We found a great variety on the menu from fish to bbq Kaylin was a server and seemed to be working the whole floor. What an amazing job. Thirsty Thursday afforded us great drink specials. This is what you want in a bar and grill - attentive service, great bar food, and fun atmosphere. Check, check, and CHECK! I love this place and would absolutely return and recommend it. Today for lunch, I went with the fried shrimp basket with fries and Mac and Cheese and a Coke (approx. $15). The shrimp came with a good cocktail sauce and the fries were hot and not greasy at all. My brother went with the fish and chips - a bit too salty for my taste but a great portion size. Our friend had the Mahi sandwich and it looked delicious. On a side note, I truly appreciate how SPOTLESS that restroom was. Remember, the people who clean the bathrooms likely also maintain the kitchen and I have no problem being served from that kitchen. It pains me to write this review because I REALLY wanted this place to be great, and it was just...meh. Score points on ambiance (minus overly loud music for a nowhere nearly busy dining area): I love that they really took the "Camp House" theme to heart. Taxidermy game on the walls, wooden picnic-style bench tables. Everything felt clean and new. Minus points on: service. Don't get me wrong, waitress was very nice and fairly attentive. But my issues were two-fold. When we entered, no idea if we should seat ourselves or wait because no one stood out as working there because both of them were seated. One at the bar on her cell phone, one at a table with other patrons (who I assume are friends or family since she was there 90% of the time). I'm all for friends and family at your establishment, just don't ignore your patrons (or their food sitting in the pass through). Score points on wings: Deep fried and crispy first, then they finish them on the grill upon request (which is a must). Cooked extremely well, but I do have to say the warning about "our sauces can be extremely hot, maybe try it on the side first" is a gross overstatement. The hot sauce is overly vinegared tabasco-style, needed a bit more heat and a bit of butter to cut that acid bite. But the lemon pepper rub was great. Neutral points on caesar salad: It wasn't bad, especially considering we were in a sports bar. But it was soaked in dressing and while I understand we ordered a half portion, bringing it out in a full portion bowl makes it look like I just paid $6 for a handful of lettuce and a cup of dressing. Score points on fries: Apparently fried is the way to go here because they sure can work a tub of hot oil. Nice and fluffy, potato-y goodness inside with a crunchy exterior. Perfectly salted, I couldn't help myself and finished them off. But that was partly due to... Minus almost all the points for what they did to my poor burger. Holy hockey pucks, I could've chipped the flooring with this thing. I knew from the moment I looked at it that this wasn't going to be good, but I gave its charred exterior the benefit of the doubt (happy that it was at least grilled rather than griddled) and bit in. Well, I bit into the almost raw potato bun first, and after I got through a few bites of that, I bit into a dry, flavorless puck of meat. I ordered it medium rare, I got a shade away from charcoal. What's most disappointing, and rather scary, is that not only does the menu say they cook to order (this would've been more forgivable if they warned they have to cook medium well like some places do) but they also apparently serve a venison burger which I panic to think about what a crime it would be to overcook venison in the same way. The burger experience killed my excitement for the fact that they state on their menu that they'll even cook game you bring in. If I go through all the trouble of hunting something, there's no way I would want to trust it to this place after seeing their burger cookery. All in all, not enough positives to bring me back. I can get great wings at many other places, and sadly if you can't even cook a burger to a decent temperature, I don't have high hopes for any other items on the menu. Sorry, Camp House... read more

We have eaten at Camp House multiple times and enjoyed it every time. The service has been spot on each time we visited. The on tap beers are good. I enjoy a citrus type ale of which the have chock top which they serve with a large slice of Orange. I have had a few items. Appetizers I enjoy the cheese sticks and Poppers. For main course I have enjoyed their burgers, wings and BBQ. All were great. They have sports and hunting themed TV shows showing on TVs all around the place. read more

The only issue at this point is their operating hours. Right now not open Monday and Tuesdays and close at 5:00pm. I'm assuming it's personnel issues. HAVE to be open for dinner! read more

It is football season and I am on the hunt for best wings in town. Camp House is in the running. I prefer grilled wings and they grill them right. I like the junkyard sauce, its a combo of all of the flavors. I also like the Carolina gold. I normally order online and go pick them up. Yesterday I walked in and they were bagging up my order. This place is always busy, and I have also had brisket that was tasty. During the Covid 19 I always add the safety review, none of the staff had masks. I kept my mask on while picking up my food but for me it was a quick in and out. The wings here are in my top 3 local wing spots. read more

Have driven past Camp House multiple times and asked my neighbor if it was any good to which he responded "most definitely" and a couple of us met up for lunch. Very cool little spot, parking lot was filled with pick up trucks (mine included) and we just got in before the main lunch rush. Caters more to a male crowd (hunting/fishing themed decor), sports on tvs, easy on the eyes waitresses but there were some women that came in as well. Beers were cold and reasonable priced with a decent selection. I went with the burnt ends burger which was pretty tasty. The other guys got wings and chicken tenders with junkyard sauce which is a mix of all their sauces. Needless to say when I went back that weekend I tried those. Went here for a happy hour dinner with friends on a Friday evening. Parking lot was already filled though there was plenty of open seating inside and out, so I'm not sure what was up with that. Additionally, it was LOUD. I mean head-splitting loud. There are speakers in every corner, too, and it's small inside, so no matter where you sit there's no escaping the noxious music. Service was quick but it bothered me a bit that the waitress was more interested in serving us more drinks (of the alcoholic variety) than anything else. She was nice but a bit pushy and it got a bit frustrating. I ordered a friend chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. It was decent but nothing special, and the seasoning on both the fried chicken and the fries just seemed off to me. The breading on the chicken was perhaps just too bland, while the sweet potato fries had way too much cinnamon (or cinnamon sugar?) on them. Prices aren't bad but let's just say I won't go out of my way to eat/drink here again. The best thing is probably the plethora of TVs (the tables against the wall each have their own) so it's surely a good place to watch football. read more

Camphouse grill seems to be one of the few restaurant/bars in the area open past 9pm on a monday night. I really cant believe how spoiled i've become - but this alone just about merits 5 stars, since i could have starved to death if it wasn't for camp house. From the outside, this place looks like a summer camp mess hall. Inside - same. Who would've thought. The waitress was quick to acknowledge my presence and take my drink order. Just about everything on the menu looked pretty good. I went with the pulled pork dinner, mac n cheese and fries - the waitress took it upon herself to give me a sample of the coleslaw since i had asked about it. There is usually something i don't like about a meal and in this case it was the mac - it was a little burnt and the cheese tasted a little like crocodile nipple. Everything else was delicious. I also tried a peach margarita, which was pretty good but light on the tequila. I want to say i'm surprised that there was only 4-5 other people there last night when they have such good food / service.. but then again... every other restaurant closes at 9.. so it must've been sleepy time for sanford, FL.
