When my husband and I started planning a trip to Kansas City, I discovered that Christopher Elbow Chocolates is based here AND that they offer a Chocolate Experience where you can learn about chocolate, their process and the company. At $20 per person for about 50 minutes, it sounded like a fun addition to our day. Hands down, it was totally worth it! We went on a Thursday and happened to be the only two people booked for our experience, so it almost felt like our own private chocolate tour. We met the manager, who was incredibly friendly, and honestly everyone we interacted with was welcoming and helpful. During the experience, we got to try drinking chocolate, melted chocolate and a salted caramel chocolate treat--and every single one was incredible. The presentation itself was very thorough, with beautiful photos and examples throughout. We learned a lot about chocolate, their process and the company, and they took the time to answer all of our questions. If you love chocolate, the Chocolate Experience is absolutely worth adding to your Kansas City itinerary. You get to learn about chocolate, taste some delicious samples and then, of course, shop for chocolates afterward. We definitely didn't leave empty-handed! The key lime had a perfect ratio of cream to pie and the filling was so smooth and not overly stiff/congealed like I've had elsewhere. $6 for a giant slice of happiness is a great deal.
