Yummy breakfast!!!! These folk do a wonderful job.

Oh...how I love the days I drive to my cabin on the weekends...as I always make sure to pass through Marshall to patronize this lovely little eatery! The food is ALWAYS good and the service too. A great value for your dollar and specials and menu items change on a regular basis. A little off the beaten path....sure.....worth it? ABSOLUTELY!!!

I don't have the words to tell you how AMAZING this place is. We were driving past the town of Marshall and decided at the last minute to turn around and grab lunch there. Looking at the reviews helped us decide on this place. It's an absolute GEM! The food was amazing. The chef/owner makes everything from scratch and it shows. We had some potato dill soup and tomato soup to start and the Kitchen Sink pizza to eat. We were insanely full and couldn't finish it all, but still grabbed desserts to go. I had the caramel walnut bar and my husband had the cinnamon roll (that had a surprising hint of orange) and they were worth every single calorie. We will go back to this town just to eat here again. Oh....and I also need to mention that they do serve beer!

What you will NOT get is fast, get you out as fast as possible service. What you WILL get is an amazing home cooked to order meal! The wait for us was so well worth it. We loved the small town vibe. We chose a game that they had to keep us occupied. The food was seriously worth the wait!

Phenomenal! My mom is from Marshall so, we get there often to visit my grandma. I'm so glad I found this place. What a treasure. Great atmosphere, service & beyond delicious food. I had the huge crab cake with a cup of the poblano pepper clam chowder...DELICIOUS. They have a very small, yet quality beer selection. If you're the type that will only drink Bud Light, go elsewhere. I'm originally from Michigan & they had 2 beers from 2 different MI breweries. I was ecstatic. I look forward to coming back here EVERY time I visit Madison Co.

Wow. Just wow. We rented a cabin in Marshall for the weekend and had the pleasure of being in walking distance of the Sweet Monkey Cafe. The women that were working were very welcoming. I would be there everyday if I lived in Marshall. . I will never look at another shrimp or grit the same way after I had brunch here over the weekend. It was amazing. It was made with local sausage, shrimp, yellow grits, tomatoes and a bunch of other awesomeness. Try it. You won't regret it. The rest of my party enjoyed their brunch just as much as I did if not more. I hear their molasses cookies are out of this world too. Sadly they were out by the time we got there. Next time. I can't wait until we are back in the area to visit again!

    Delicious shrimp and grits!

My fiance and I were staying in the mountains north of Asheville and we're blessed to find this gem. Quaint, simplistic, and hip ambiance in downtown Marshall. We had brunch on Sunday, one of the best ever. Everything was great from the coffee, to the service, to the main dishes. The shrimp and grits were perfectly done with an amazing, creamy broth complementing the authentic grits. Excellent! The brunch special was also out of this world good. Eggs, chorizo, and kale on top of cheesy jalapeno bread, prepared french toast style, with the best hollandaise sauce I've had. Highly recommend a trip to Marshall and to this standout establishment. (This from someone who rarely gives 5-star reviews)

Omg this place!!!!! It was recommended to us by our Airbnb host and I'm soooooooo glad we had the chance to eat here. Ms. Hollie West single handily cooked one of the best breakfast I've ever had. We were a party of six, ordered the breakfast sandwich, breakfast tacos, French toast, frittata and EVERYTHING was to die for. The staff was super nice and the place has a sweet charm to it. Absolutely loved it, definitely recommend it!!!

    Celebrated my husband's birthday!

I'm a fan of everything scratch made! They have soooo good bread and French toast! I ordered mimosa for brunch! It's sooo yum! Owner is so friendly and accommodating. She keep on checking if we need anything. We were hesitant at first coz we brought our dog but they are accommodating enough that they even gave water for our puppy. They also have variety of hot sauce. Cafe is located in a historical downtown of Marshall.

This is a caterer now, not a restaurant. So don't bother. I called and they said they weren't open to the public

Made reservations a week in advance since it is popular & we were coming on a Saturday night. had to call to do this but the staff were quick with the booking. We were staying on the north side of Asheville a few minutes from downtown & this was a quick 12 drive to Weaverille. Place was packed when we arrived 10 mins early for our seating. We waited maybe 3 mins though & were in our booth. The vibe here is something else. Decor is eclectic but layout mimics the vintage diner that it resembles from the outside. Very casual but doesnt necessarily feel that way. Menu isnt extensive so you dont have to fret about too many choices which i personally like. We started off with the seasonal watermelon salad which my wife says is one of her favorite things shes had anywhere in recent memory. I had a side portion of the steak wedge salad. For mains i had the carolina shrimp & grits & my wife got the pot pie. Both were insanely rich & satisfying. Good portions & quality ingredients represented. Even though at this point we were stuffed we had to go for dessert & tried the omg peanut butter pie & the tiramisu. not surprisingly, both were excellent. Apparently they have a dedicated pastry chef who makes the desserts every morning. Service was really good here and my sister in law's friend who was working the bar came over and raved about being employed there which is good to hear. Cant find anything negative to say about this place & you'd be hard pressed to find anybody doing so online really either. Just a local joint serving good food in a fun environment. Highly recommend

It's in a valley along the river. A few outdoor tables are available but there is plenty of space inside if weather is not suitable. What impressed me was that when I asked whether I could have a salad for breakfast they said yes, giving me the choice of salad (vegan, with local tempeh) or a more indulgent pastry. Me being me, I chose both. A blondie with toffee inside was dynamic and delicious while I waited for my salad. The flavor combination was quite strange: an espresso barbecue tempeh salad. Tempeh is kind of grainy so it's usually something best paired with strong flavorings, and what they did here worked pretty well. A large appalachai was a good way to wash things down. Given their flexibility in meeting special dietary needs, ambiance, and general deliciousness, I do not know what more I could ask for.

This is not a vegan/vegetarian restaurant, but there are items on the menu for those who choose such dietary options. When we were there, there was a Risotto made with Faro that was very rich, and very tasty. There weren't many other options for us, so I am glad that this one was so good. The restaurant, itself, is very comfortable, the service is excellent, and both the wine list, and the beer list are long. I like that they had several "local" beer offerings, and the porter I had was perfect; as good as any I've had anywhere. Our waitress explained that it's because of the local water, filtered by the mountains. I believe it. I agree with all of the five star ratings, but I, myself, couldn't got five because of the predominantly "meat-oriented" menu. I do understand that any restaurant needs to appeal to its customer base, and I get the idea the veganism/vegetarianism isn't real big here in the mountains.
