Title: Disappointing Father's Day Experience at Sweet Spot Cafe I ordered donuts from Sweet Spot Cafe the day before Father's Day--planning ahead so we could enjoy a special breakfast. When I arrived to pick up the order, there was a huge line inside and absolutely no indication of where to pick up a take-out order. After waiting in line for 10 minutes, I finally spoke to someone--only to be told I didn't need to wait in line in the first place. Then, I waited another 5 minutes (or more), and was told that they didn't have the donuts I ordered at all. Key Issues: They were completely unprepared. You can't trust ordering from their website. I planned ahead, but they weren't ready when the pickup time came. Staff showed no apology or urgency. They seemed like they couldn't care less about the mishap. Our Father's Day breakfast was ruined. I brought my kids along for a special treat--and they left empty-handed and disappointed. Overall, this was not just a small inconvenience--it was a major letdown. Plan your orders carefully if you choose to go with Sweet Spot Cafe, because you might not get what you paid for. I saw an advertisement for this place in one of the mailers that come to my house and added it to my growing list of "must try" places. They are located right next to Sugar Fire bbq. There's a good sized parking lot and a little patio for when the weather is nice. The inside is a little tight with a handful of cafe tables for guests. The decor is bright and welcoming making the donut case the center of attention. The menu has something to offer for just about everyone. It was pretty early in the day when I stopped in, so donuts seemed perfectly acceptable. I went with a half dozen donuts. I am a bit of a purist when it comes to my donuts. The fancy icing and toppings are nice. But to receive high praise from me, I judge them by their old fashioned donuts. A good old fashioned donut is hard to come by despite how straightforward it seems to make. A super light moist cake donut with a glazed icing. Seems simple right? I went with a yellow cake and a chocolate. The donuts had a nice crisp bite with a soft moist cake. The icing was a little too sweet for my tastes, but overall a pretty good donut. We picked up a few of the specialty donuts as well. Pleased with the quality of their donuts, we plan to stop back in to check out the rest of the menu. read more

Place was crowded at mid morning. No line but mostly full. WIDE variety of breakfast foods, pastries and donuts for such a small place. Pastries all look homemade and are delicious breakfast sandwiches are really tasty. Staff is super helpful and friendly. I've been here 7 or 8 times and feel comfortable that I can make an assessment now., every time I've been I've had consistent results. There won't be a 9th. Speed - INCREDIBLY SLOW - Figure at least 15 minutes if you're the only one in line, add 5-10 minutes for every person in front of you, especially for the drive through. It is impossible to get in and out in less than 10 minutes. Quality - Very on-par with Schnucks. Not bad, but certainly nothing special. Every time I've been the donuts have the consistency of being out all day or even a day old, and I have only been there in relative early morning thus far 6-8am. Customer service - They always try to give you a handful of sugar/cream to mix with coffee in your car, you have to ask to have them do it. I've always had to ask for napkins. General customer service is not necessarily cold, but certainly not warm. read more

There was a good selection and variety to choose from (even at 6pm as we stopped in after dinner at Sugarfire next door). Loved having the sweet spot cafe open in winghaven after frequenting the St Ann location for years. However, most visits have not been good experiences. Between not managing the crowds well on weekends to being out of stock of gluten free donuts at 9 am on a Saturday, it's become not worth going anymore. Great place, I went here for my first time today. I had an apple fritter and gyro, egg and cheese on Texas toast. Excellently! I thought I was going to break my wrist carrying the bag with the apple fritter in it. It wasn't one of those small skimpy ones you get at the grocery store or gas station. I had to wait for the sandwich but it was hot and well worth the weight. That was enough food for two trust me. (Unless you are a big eater for breakfast). One of the best apple fritters I ever had. They have a drive thru so that is really convenient. Go there you won't be disappointed. Nice employees too. They both had a smile on their face. They must have a good training program. read more

The atmosphere is a little confusing. There are two registers, there was a long line at one register and no line at the other. Most donut shops I can take my kiddo in and they pick donuts from the glass, the donuts are gathered and then charged and we sit and eat. But at the sweet spot you have to tell them how many donuts or specialties before picking them out (which makes sense for grabbing the right box/bag but just seemed different from other shops I've been to. Maybe put donuts on a tray while kids pick and then choose the box and charge once done?) I ordered an apple fritter, it was hard except for the very center with very limited apple pieces or flavor. Hard to break apart or bite into. My son got a strawberry banana donut, he said it was great. I had a cafe mocha, it tasted like straight watered coffee with a little cream. Mochas I usually expect to be sweet and chocolatey so I was disapointed. The place was very busy and had a nice cafe atmosphere. Big potential if they can fix the flow of check out and make sure their donuts and parties are soft and delicious. We might come back one more time to see if this was a fluke, hopefully I can update more positively next time. :) Update: I asked for more chocolate in the mocha and they happily did it. Much better. terrible. just terrible. came through the drive through and was told to "pull forward" with a their incredibly chaotic parking lot i was stuck there for 40 minutes waiting for my burrito and sausage egg & cheese and hash brown. i went inside to check on my order however i was met with an insanely crowded room of other people like me just waitinggg on their orders. after another 15 minutes i went back to my car had someone walk past my car then come back (because they keep no record of what order goes to what car) dropped off a greasy bag without our hashbrowns and a microwaveable sausage patty to enjoy. needless to say my fiancé and i did not enjoy and bit of this cafes experience. we will not be back. unless there is better management of the establishment. read more

The hash browns were crisp and especially good, as was the bacon. My only negative was the lone toast option - Texas toast. This is not a great option for people who don't typically eat white bread.
