This place lives up to its name, it is very sweet! Ordered churros with condensed milk, nachos with hot Cheetos, and corn. The churros were very crunchy and paired with the condensed milk was perfect. There are various dips to order from if you want something else. The nachos with hot Cheetos also had corn in them. These were the highlight of my orders. It was nicely balanced between corn, chips, cheese, and Cheetos. The corn was a bit on the creamier side. I personally really liked how much lemon and mayo it had. Others wanted the corn to be a bit more dry. The place was clean and had a lot of places to sit at. The Sweet Spot is one of my new favorite places to go in the Square. I went to their grand opening a while back, and I was impressed by the quality of drinks and their friendliness. I came back another time to bring some work to do and again, my experience was enjoyable thanks their layout and amount of seats/tables. Their food is delicious for cheap prices. The food is fresh and their portions are well-sized. Also, every time I try a new drink, it never disappoints. They're perfectly balanced and in good sized cups as well. Even though environment is adorable, picturesque, and trendy, it still maintains an enjoyable study space. Honestly, the biggest factor that keeps me returning is the extremely friendly staff. After a busy day of sightseeing in San Marcos, my visiting friend was in desire of some tea, not coffee, but tea. So I opened up Yelp and just a few stores down we found The Sweet Spot. After speaking with the owner, my friend decided on the Mexican Hot Chocolate, so I said ditto. The Sweet Spot NBTX is originally a food truck from New Braunfels, TX. After looking around NB for a store front, they just happened to find this location in SM that was a previous coffee shop that closed in Oct, and The Sweet Spot took over almost immediately, just a month ago. I signed up for a cake decorating class. It was a terrible decision to do so. When we arrived my mother was riding with 2 of us that signed up and was told she could not come in even to just sit and be present and watch. We cooperated of course and my mother was asked to leave the shop. once the class started we noticed a man sitting with his wife watching and just sitting in and we were very unhappy about the fact that he was allowed to sit in on the class but our mother was not. The staff was extremely rude and had terrible customer service in handling this matter. I will never be back and never recommend this place to anyone. The foundation of any restaurant is how you treat and deal with your customers and they didn't care at all. We were treated terribly, Very very sad but hopefully no one else ever has to deal with the disrespect we did. Side note. The Cake was hard as a rock. read more
