Met up with some girlfriends for dinner. I haven't been in this particular location for over 25 years back when it was another restaurant. It was pretty empty on a Wednesday night. The inside was decorated interesting, nice lights. We opted to sit on the patio. We ordered a few items to share Calamari Lavash pizza Bread with spreads Paella I have to say the food was terrible. I would give each item a 1 star rating. I'm sorry but nothing was good at all. I didn't eat much. I ordered a glass of prosecco and it was kind of flat. Service was ok hence the two stars. On a positive note: the vibe and decorations inside were 6/10. Service was subpar; our waitress was not attentive of us and mismatched our orders on the bill (which was corrected). Cocktail drinks we ordered were disappointing due to being room temp (makes me wonder if the drink was pre mixed and left out on the counter). Food was subpar and lukewarm for the duck, and sea food pasta dinner options. Way too over priced for the small portions we received. Would not recommend& will not be going back. The food was served cold, and hard a hair in the Resotto. The food which was sent back returned cold again. Prime Rib is not normally cold. Recognizing that it was early in the day (10:30), so perhaps staff weren't aware of their assignments for the day, but the servers seemed untrained on how to make diners feel taken care of. Trying on customer service might be helpful. In addition, the foods on the hot line were barely lukewarm in spite of having temperature controls on the buffet line. The Sweet Spot has always been our favorite west side restaurant. We are delighted that it has moved east. After being out of town for a couple of months, we chose Sweet Spot as our first dining our spot upon our return. Our entire dining experience was beyond expectation. Our salads were delicious and lightly dressed. My chicken piccata on angel hair pasta included a few roasted vegetables, was lightly sauced and delicious! My husband considers himself a meat loaf gourmet and thusly judges a restaurant. He was very pleased with it and the accompanying mashed potatoes. Chef Preston visited our table, explained his vision for the restaurant and was delightful as usual. The carpet in the dining room has greatly helped absorb sound. The east bar and lounge area is well appointed. My only suggestion is to somehow "warm up" the main dining room. It lacks the charm of the west location, but is easy to overlook when experiencing a great dinner. read more

We have eaten here before and loved it every time, however tonight was different. They were not that busy when we arrived but it took 45 minutes to get the drinks we wanted ordered and delivered. Went to The Sweet Spot last night for the first time. I had no idea what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised with the whole experience! For being a Saturday night, it wasn't too busy and we didn't have to wait for a table. Our party of 4 enjoyed a cocktail in the bar area first, then had dinner. We shared the Sweet Spot Shrimp appetizer (very tasty). I ordered the fish of the day (monkfish, pictured) which was wrapped in pancetta and served with an herb risotto and radish slaw. Delish! Other entrees ordered in our group were the pork chops and Strip & Shrimp, and everyone enjoyed their meals. Ambience was great, and our waitress was wonderful. I had made a reservation for 6 people on Mother's Day a month in advance. Walked in for our reservation and they had it down that I had cancelled a few days prior. I, in fact, had not cancelled so there must've been a glitch in the system that removed us off of their reservation list. Instead of coming up with a solution to fix the mistake, we got a "sorry, there is nothing we can do." There were zero attempts to try to resolve the solution and we were left to try to find somewhere else to eat.. during the lunch hour.. on Mother's Day.. hard to do, but we ended up being more than satisfied with Wichita Brewing Company's brunch! Hands down, it was the best Calamari I have ever had! We also ordered a Raspberry Mule and the Sweet Spot #1 as our drinks for the evening. Both were great, although I definitely preferred the Mule more. For dinner we ordered the Chicken Picatta and a 14 oz Steak with potatoes. It was delicious, but I would have rather ordered more calamari and split the steak . The only thing that weirded me out was that NONE of the waitstaff was wearing masks. Yes, they spaced out seating people by each other, but it doesn't really matter when staff is coming up and breathing on each table.
