Food was good. Bar service was great. Meal service time was terrible. Someone needs to figure out how to plan ahead when there are several events happening in the area at the same time - first Longhorn football game, many watch parties, and a concert just down the road. If they would have planned better the wait time to get your food would not have been 45 minutes to an hour. I went to the Switch around the opening, and it was excellent! The service was great, attentive and friendly, the food was unique and delicious, and I had a really good time. I had the sausage and brisket, and it was quite good. The sausage had a really nice, original take on it, and was very tasty. Brisket was very good as well. Yeah, there's lots of BBQ in Texas, and everyone has a preference, yet that is precisely why the Switch is valuable. Because they are not copying everything else out there, but rather creating their own flavor within the larger framework of the familiar. It was Sunday brunch so idk what the normal menus have but I would do any number of illegal thing to get that gravy recipe (biscuits and gravy have my heart). Went in for the first visit for a late lunch. Walked in the door and met by smiling faces. Easy counter transaction and fast food delivery. We've been to the original location but this is much closer to home. Food was on point - only problem is we ordered too much. Brisket tender and perfectly seasoned. We love Stiles Switch so after moving south recently we headed out to The Switch for dinner. I was ready for some really great bbq until I noticed the Cajun menu and decide to try the gumbo ... gumbo served over potato salad ... that's right, potato salad. It was amazing ... the gumbo was so flavorful and full of chicken and sausage but the big surprise was how good the potato salad made it. I would think they would serve the gumbo without the potato salad but be brave and give it a try. Looking forward to our next visit. read more

On Friday 9/7 I had the rehearsel dinner for my son's wedding with 40 guests. Served family style (a great way to do it actually) we had brisket, pulled pork, turkey, potato salad, their epic corn casserole and they included pinto beans. The Switch in Dripping did a wonderful job. The venue was excellent, the food outstanding as was the service. I am really glad I selected them for such an important event. Stopped in on a Sunday about 4:30/5 and it wasn't too busy. We ordered the smoked boudin, 1/4lb brisket, and the crawfish sausage pot pie. Gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised with the flavors of most of the items we tried. The crawfish pot pie was cooked perfectly, flaky, crisp, creamy, great amount of seafood and sausage and it was paired nicely with a vinaigrette salad to cut the richness and a half link more sausage. The moist brisket had great flavor and was very tender as it should be. The smoked boudin was great, the smokiness took me by surprise as I am a fan of boudin but hadn't had any before quite that smoky. The flavors were all on point. I didn't like the mustard paired with it, no big deal it's on the side and the crackers are an expected accompaniment BUT they were overly seasoned/salted which totally took away from the great flavor of the boudin. We did have to ask for tobasco and were surprised to have been brought a little cup of what seemed like buffalo style hot sauce. It worked though. We did NOT care for either of the table sauces or the tomato based bbq sauce that came with the brisket and chose to eat the brisket without sauce. The tea was delish, pickles crunchy and great flavor (important with the brisket), and the complimentary hush puppies were rather tasty, I'm still trying to pinpoint some of the flavors I tasted there, they weren't like most others I've ever tried. Overall, a great place with plenty of seating and what looked like a well stocked bar. We would go back if in the area sometime to maybe try out some other items. read more

I shared a two meat plate with a friend, and it was plenty of food for the two of us! Almost perfect!!! Pros I had the 2 meat plate with 2 sides and I added an extra side. THE BEST BRISKET I have ever eaten! Lean, perfectly seasoned, no fat or gristle. Way better than Franklin's or Salt Lick for meat. Mild Sausage was tasty. All sides were really good. We have the tomatoes and cucumbers which could use a little more seasoning, maybe some red wine vinegar. The corn casserole is more like corn cornbread but is really good. The smothered cabbage is very different but addicting once you start eating it. The Cons Prepackaged pickles and onions for to-go were gross. Obviously packed the day before because the onion reeked and the pickles tasted like the onions smell. Cut onions do not hold over. Sauce is disappointing. Too watery and a strange flavor. Not necessarily horrible, but not remarkable either. No chicken on the menu. I would really like a smoked chicken option. $12.50 for Frito Pie? What are you putting in it lobster and caviar? read more

The food here is good and I'm sure I'll be back for a to-go order. I had the shrimp and pulled pork po-boy and the sandwich itself was fantastic. I tried to order something other than fries, but everything I was interested in has onions in it. Gross. Seems like The Switch has a hard time keeping it simple. Examples: Cheese grits have jalapeños in them, coleslaw has onions and bbq sauce in it, mayo was jalapeño mayo?! The fries were garbage and I normally like the other sides but not so much here. Good thing the po-boy was huge and oh-so-good. The place, however, is very confusing. There's a hostess first that tells you your table number. Then, you order your meal, swipe your card, and get your own drinks at a drink station. Then, a waitress comes over to say "hi" (I guess. Not really sure of her purpose otherwise.) Then, a food runner brings your food out. Then, the waitress brings out your cc slip to sign. Didn't I just pay? Why am I tipping this person? Then, a busser cleans your table. The brisket was delicious and tender but pricey. All of the sides we got were terrible. We had potato salad with no flavor. The cole slaw was watery and tasteless and the pinto beans were flavorless, too. One member of our group had the gumbo and the roux tasted good but it was lacking lot of traditional ingredients. I mean, who makes gumbo without okra? For the amount of money we spent, this place was disappointing. It's way overpriced for the lack of quality. I know this won't set well with some because there is always a group that feels the hotter the spices, the better. If I had known this I would not have visited this store. I bought a selection of ribs and brisket, along with a bunch of sides to go with it, $76 in take out for 3 people. I sat in the bar while the order was filled. Not very busy, a quiet night. It took almost a 1/2 hour to get my order so I had a soda, which they charged me for. Most places give you that considering your waiting on a decent size order. I thought this had better be worth it considering the Salt Lick isn't that far away. Finally i head home. With the first bite of ribs my nose started running freely. I took about 3 bites before I was pushing for the cole slaw. These were the spiciest ribs I have ever tasted, hot enough that the flavor was lost. Besides being brown, that was, by far, the most disgusting cole slaw I have ever had, it was like cabbage, mayonnaise, and mustard, with mayonnaise being the main ingredient. I few more bites and I had to hit the potato salad. Same mayonnaise and mustard but way too much of both. My family each took about 2 bites and left their plates. I switched to the brisket and found it was every bit as hot as the ribs, as I sat there sweating. There was nothing on the menu that I saw or any notices that this was a very spicy version of Texas BBQ. I am not that sensitive to spicy but this was too much, it was covered in pepper. $80 wasted, I was stuck microwaving some bagel dogs. I will never go there again. read more

A nice Mother's Day dinner turned into a test of our patience and a pretty disappointing meal. We (4 of us) got there at approximately 6pm, and were seated very quickly. There wernt too many other tables and plenty of open seating. The restaurant was 50-60% full. Waitress was a bit slow to get our drink order but once she did, brought our drinks rather quickly, gave us a few minutes to look over the menu, came back and took our order. I would guess 6:20-6:25 at the latest. Remember that while this is a sit down restaurant, most bbq restaurants you order at the counter, because all of the food is pre-prepped. If you ran out of a smoked meat, you certainly don't have time to make more. So we were very puzzled when our food didn't come out until about 7:05. It shouldn't take almost 45 minutes to cut bbq, scoop a few sides and bring the food out. When the food did arrive, it certainly wasn't hot (my wife's grits were cold) and the brisket was very dried out (see picture). For a place who's parent company is on the top 50 of Texas bbq, this was sure a big let down on not just quality, but service. I hope they figure things out or there could be a big vacant spot in belterra shopping center. read more

I just recently had a very bad experience with them, although I was a fan and going there since opening. 3 weeks ago I ordered the wings as I did many times before. The wings I got were huge, saying half a wing was the size of a chicken is not exaggeration. It wasn't cooked all the way through. When the server checked on us I mentioned. He was very appreciative and asked how he could change my experience. That is professional. Then the manager showed up and taught me a lesson. He said their wings are both smoked and fried, cannot be uncooked. I left with a bitter feeling and to me it means I'll never return and though I used to promote them to my friends, I'll never do that again. read more
