This was our first time trying The Taco Project and it was the perfect lunch and rest stop on our way to Poughkeepsie. The staff was kind and accommodating towards my 2.5 year old and we enjoyed our spot outside. Short Rib Tacos (5/5) - Packed with juicy, not-too-dry short ribs, these were no-brainer. Try with sprinkle of chipotle aioli sauce & hot sauce. Honey Habanero Chicken Salad (2/5) - This one looked good, but it didn't impress me. While chunks of fresh chicken was tasty, it just didn't come with enough dressing and the chicken and the greens tasted like 2 separate toppings instead of a dish. I still took it home but that's the problem, isn't it. Sidewinder fries (4/5) - These were on a special so not on the reg. menu and, turned out to be quite good! Crunchy and perfectly seasoned if not slightly salty with 3 different dips was fun to eat and also filling. Churros (3/5) - I ordered this as later snack and it turned out to be much softer and not crunchy on the bite and quite soft and slightly greasy inside. Chocolate mole and caramel sauce were pleasing to my taste buds, but after just half a stick, I felt like I need a break. Granted I was just sampling it after my meal, it was quite heavy. I think this is better ordered as a dessert for a party of 4 as there were 4 sticks total and 1 will fill your dessert stomach up! I know, I should've just stuck to tacos and stuff but really wanted to get some greens in my system and I kinda paid for it. Ordered a veggie burrito, chicken burrito, and pork belly tacos. The only meal that we didn't have an issue with were the pork belly tacos--which had great flavor and texture. The amount of pineapple given was also well balanced against the pork. The chicken burrito had three large (and sharp) shards of bone in it, which makes me worry for those that eat with gusto. The veggie burrito is pleasantly thick, but is lacking in beans (I'd say 65% rice). One part of the tortilla was cold like it came directly out of the refrigerator. Out of all the taco projects, this one is the coolest but I like the food the least. It's not bad just not as good. I do really like the fries they have that some of the others don't. So that's a bonus big time. But that's about It. The tacos, the corn, the dessert, the chips all just seem better at others and especially the Yonkers location. Popped in for lunch and the food is a wonderful as the decor is fun! I had the chorizo tacos, and the Taco Project has now ruined me for tacos from anywhere else because they were perfect. Fresh and flavorful. Followed them up with the Tres Leches cake which wasn't overly sweet (many restaurants overdo it with the condensed milk), just the right amount of sweet, and the cake was fairly light with a lovely fresh whipped cream topping. Worst tacos my family and I have ever had ANYWHERE. Went here because the reviews were decent and we were in the mood for tacos. We ordered the. shrimp and beef tacos. With the shrimp tacos, all you taste is the fried batter enveloping the tiny shrimps. The beef tacos were even worse - disgusting tasteless and drenched in oil. I told the manager, he offered to replace the beef tacos but really it was just so bad there would have been no point to accept his offer. He then offered to refund half of the price ...huh??? I said no thanks and we left. Really ...hours later and I'm still feeling naseous. I wonder if the reviews for this place are recent enough or even not paid for. This place is right near my job and I found it while lost one day. I knew I wanted to try it, so I did. I've gone 2 times in the last couple of weeks and had the shrimp burrito bowl and Mexican corn. Today my friend and I had 2 chicken tacos,guacamole and the corn again and it was so good. I have to be honest and say the chicken lacks flavor, but the green sauce is AMAZING and added some great flavor. It's a very small place, but very quaint, cleanand has a nice ambiance. We got there pretty early, around 5pm, so there weren't many people in the restaurant. We were able to grab a table before I got too crowded. We both ordered the steak tacos (2 tacos) and shared a side of guacamole and chips. The guacamole was 6.5 and the steak tacos were 8. I thought both were a tad more expensive than what I was use to paying. The guacamole was very good and I loved the radish garnish on both dishes. The portion size in my opinion was fine nothing mindblowingly cheap. The taco was pretty good and I liked the green sauce that they had by the tables! Only 4 tables inside the rest of the seating is a bar counter that circles the restaurant so you face out to the street. They have taco specials everyday 6 dollars for two taco, too bad you cannot mix the taco you can only have the deal with one of the kind. I order the soft shrimp taco and the soft steak taco. The portions for the tacos were small, but the shrimp tacos were tasty. The shrimp are breaded and fried, so if you are looking for something a bit healthier go with the fish tacos, which are not as tasty but the fish is grilled. I'd take dry over gamey any day. When I compare these tacos to the ones you get in Chelsea, these just don't do anything for me. Dry and funky tasting? No thank you . I don't get the hype. I don't get why the place was bustling at lunch time, it was definitely not worth it and I will not be going back. Delicious local joint in a cute town! The Taco Project has one of THE crispiest tortilla chips! The salsa is sweet and juicy but I personally prefer spicy and roasted. The veggie burrito (minus the cheese and sour cream) is probably the most balanced veggie burrito I've had. The corn is roasted, the veggies are fresh (lots of purple cabbage.) The rice and beans are simple and delish- it's no wonder they've landed a place on the menu as a side dish. $8 The steak tacos looked a bit greasy but the meat looked very tender.
