What a great little spot! Right in a popular strip in SLP, this is a convenient spot for a bite to eat if you're working out, getting a pedicure, or anything else in the area (like me). AMBIANCE The decor in here is top notch! Dark walls with bright pink neons and fun decor. I love it - it really makes them stand out and the photos so fun! SERVICE It's counter service here, which I like - quick and easy. Food came out pretty dang quickly too. We went around 2pm and a good amount of the seats were filled - I was impressed! It's not huge but a good amount of seating, or take to go. FOOD We got some a few things that caught our eye from their more "trendy" options: Birria Grilled Cheese: my brother loved this! My friend picked up tacos to-go from The Taco Shop to eat outside on a nice night and I've craved them nearly every day since!! I tried the chicken, carnitas, and al pastor tacos. All 3 were great, but my favorite was the al pastor. The side of chips were great and tasted super fresh! The packaging was also A+!!! Small Mexican place with really fun black and pink interior decor. We got pickup tamales and a burrito from here. Still hot when we picked up. The tamales come unwrapped and covered in sauce. My wife and I were out in St. Louis Park, north of Edina and it was new restaurant Saturday. I sauntered into the smallish strip mall space, but it was surprisingly large inside for the area they had. There is a huge menu, but I was in here for STREEET TACOS. I got the lengua (tongue), some beef head (delicious) and the pastor, by far the best! The pastor was so flavorful, spicy, yet, not. The head and lengua was perfectly spiced, because you could not tell it was fatty meat. If you told someone what it was before they had it, they may not even try it, but it was delicious. I have had lengua which is very fatty, this was not at all, and the beef head was like a delicacy, almost like beef cheeks, which I have had. Maybe a better name for it. What are the light! I had some unique rice on the bottom, covered with cheese, covered with vegetables and shrimp, very delicious. My son had three tacos and a steak sandwich. My favorite in the area by far, but keep in mind you may have a disappointing experience using food delivery services. Portions are less generous and notes often go unnoticed. I'm reluctant to use delivery for this reason especially because it's so much more expensive and the quantity is often disappointing. There should be no difference. This is the only reason I'm not leaving five stars. read more

St Louis Park has a new taco shop!?! I noticed it driving by the other day so when my friend was feeling Mexican, we knew we had to try it. We ordered the tripe quesadilla, the wet burrito with al pastor, quesabirria tacos, elote, and the milanesa torta. The torta was amazing- fresh bread, full of toppings and only $11 for a big sandwich. The wet burrito was also pretty good and huge. We ordered it with al pastor. The tripe quesadilla was okay- i think the tripe could have been fried and cleaned a little more but overall everything was delicious, and I need to come back for the menudo. You order at the counter and then the food is brought to you. The staff were super nice, and there isn't a lot of seating but a lot of people were doing take out. Two Words... Wet Burrito. I'm not kidding when I say this was a FOURTEEN inch burrito. I measured it, and actually it was closer to 15 I think. But hands down my favorite. The combination of chicken, bacon and queso made this a flavor bomb and I couldn't get enough! Other times I've frequented, I had the steak burrito bowl and tacos. I appreciated the generous portions of meat, rice, beans and guac in the burrito bowl, but wished there was more lettuce. The tacos were overflowing, they definitely don't skimp on portions or flavor here. I've been to the Taco Shop a few times and just love the vibe, very Dia De Los Muertos. And the menu is huge which makes it difficult for people who have a hard time making decisions... like me. But I guess that just means I'll need to go back like 50 more times. I recently ordered delivery from this newish establishment. It arrived promptly (within 20 minutes) and warm but I found that my food cooled quickly. Ordered was a side of ordinary, undistinguished rice&beans, a bit overpriced and commercially made (though admittedly tasty) tres leches and an enormous if bland San Pedro Burrito. I personally brightened up both the rice&beans as well as the burrito with stuff that I kept in the fridge. I.E. some reasonably spicy hot salsa and some fresh tasting Pico. After these additions (plus a brief reheating) everything was just fine. I'll add that accompanying my order were two small plastic containers of moderate green salsa which I first tasted and then dumped over the rice&beans. The Tres Leches is as said a commercial (relabeled?) somewhat messy square that I had to admit was flavorful if not outstanding. At $6.99 the price seemed somewhat high but not outrageously so. Might have been better if made on the premises (perhaps it was but didn't look handcrafted) but maybe not. The burrito was overflowing with a generous amount of chicken strips, chorizo and other typical ingredients then topped with queso sauce and sprinkled with some Pico. Easily enough for 2 maybe even three meals for this reviewer. Would I order from here again? With so many other similar quality options it's difficult to say. However I find it good to know that The Taco Shop is relatively nearby in case I develop another hankering for something from their menu. read more

This place is amazing! Don't be fooled by the name - much more than just Tacos, but they are really good. I think I've had some of the best carnitas ever here. They have these 14" long burritos that are just a trip! Casual, maybe a little more pricey than a typical taco / burrito shop, but the portions are also larger. Very friendly staff. this place is great! just moved to the SLP area and decided to give the taco shop a shot. it's a fairly small place, maybe about 10 tables or so. at first, the prices seemed a little high, but we went for it. I got the street nachos with pastor, and wife got the chili verde. we only had to wait about 4 minutes before our order was ready. holy moly... the portion size is HUGE! we could have easily split the burrito and still had some to take home. the burrito was delicious..right amount of ingredients and the sauce was really good. the nachos were great as well. I like that they spread out the chips so you don't end up with a pile and all the toppings on top. we will definitely be going back. next time, I might even take a picture (way too hungry to think this time) one thing to note: there's 2 prices on the menu. the lower one is the cash price and the higher one is the credit card price. I had the chili verde burrito and my buddy had the wet burrito. Both were outstanding, the chili verde one was especially good. The portions were incredible! The carnitas were nailed crisp to perfection, then the outside was smothered in one of the best green chili sauces I've had. It had the perfect blend of salt and acidity. We came to support a locally owned, family-run small business. Delicious burritos with high quality meats! Dine-in burritos are served on an unfinished wooden board with fork and steak knife inserted at an angle, a great presentation. However, since the boards must be washed in a dishwasher at 165 degrees (wash cycle) and 180 degrees (rinse) to be health code-compliant, I would think the rough board would absorb the dishwasher chemicals. Next visit I'll ask for my burrito on a plate. The horchata was excellent also and there are a few small tables outside as well. read more
