Meh. Last time everything was solid. This last time, not so much. The sauces were all off. The snapper special was very bland and the sauce wasn't good. The filet was over cooked and the mushroom sauce was really off tasting this time. Probably won't be back. Which sucks because we used to recommend this place to people a lot. Okay here's my experience: this place came highly recommended so I wanted to give it a try. Had a reservation and were immediately turned to go sit outside. Noticed outside tables get plastic disposable cups while inside had nice glasses. Started things off with the Baked Brie, which was a well put together appetizer. Ordered an old fashioned with Maker's Mark. Sadly it tasted like jet fuel. I took two sips and it sat on the table full all night. Server never asked if there was anything wrong with it. Server seemed spread thin, my empty water cup sat at the edge of the table for a while before anyone noticed. My spouse ordered the beef tenderloin salad, but the beef was hardly seasoned. Ordered medium, came out somewhere between rare and medium rare. My side salad was highly over-dressed- it was swimming in the dressing. My jambalaya was good, nothing special. For paying over $100 for a dinner, I was disappointed. Will not be returning or recommending to friends. read more

A must try establishment for Happy Hour. Pleasantly surprised with atmosphere, parking and the food!!! It was a little hard to find as both our cell phones thought it was located someplace else. So once you find it ENJOY. They have a large outdoor patio that is very beautiful. . I could see us dining there in early summer. We were going for happy hour but missed it due to our directions. The bar area was full of people enjoying their Happy Hour and early bird specials. We always start to judge a place by their Makers Mark Old Fashions. The Talk:house passed with flying colors. On to the menu. Many difficult choices and we chose to spit the House Salad and each ordered the soup of the day Lobster Bisque. It came filled with luscious lobster and there was not a bit left in the cup. Would definably order again. Then came the salad and you just have to see the picture to believe it. Thankful we said to split. The roasted red peppers were delicious as was the freshness of the rest of the salad and greens. We chose the house dressing of creamy balsamic to top it with. Had dinner there this weekend. We were a party of 2 sitting outside amongst larger parties. Because of this our service was a bit slow since our server (Taylor) had other larger tables. Dirty plates were not removed unless we requested which made the table a bit crowded. Ordered filet which was great however cannot say the same for the stuffed snapper. Snapper came out with the center of it cold. It took several minutes before our server checked on entrees. The snapper was taken back and WHOLE plate was placed in the oven to cook so when the snapper returned to our table the potatoes were burnt and vegetables over cooked. To add to it the snapper was bland with little flavor. We were going to order dessert however since it took long for the server to return to ask if we wanted dessert (and it looked like it was going to rain) we decided to pass and get the check. At this point was when our server was very attentive. Got us our check, stood there and waited for a credit card , charged the card and got us out check back. All within a few minutes. First!! I don't write reviews. But after being here 2 Wednesdays in a row, I know it's not just me. We have been coming here since it opened. The prices have gone up a lot!!! 1st Wednesday there were 4 of us. 6:00 reservations. We were told that they now charge $2.50 for 5 rolls ( haha .50 each) & salads come with meals. I asked what kind of lettuce is in the salad (I can't eat iceberg) & was told it's "mixed greens" being skeptical I decided to ask for house salad with romaine only. Waitress did a ??? & the rest asked for the same. Our salads came out all iceberg. 2nd Wednesday, we are a party of 8 ( talk:house is on our rotation) Again we're told rolls are a charge $2.50 for 5 & you can add as many as you want for .50 each Again we are told salad comes with meals. So I ask what kind of lettuce is in the house salad & again am told mixed greens, I ask if it includes iceberg, she says no, so I decided to give it a try. My salad comes mostly iceberg with a few mixed greens thrown in & a couple carrot slivers. Two in our party ordered shrimp, although they looked nice they both said they were over cooked. 3 of the men ordered hamburgers, add $1.00 for cheese. NOT one of them were served correctly. Then there's the 3% merchant fee (we assume for using a credit card) Come on who doesn't use a credit card? Great night at The Talk:house. The food and service could not have been better! We were part of a large group (20+) that had the opportunity to experience their Speakeasy, a separate building complete with a server, bartender, full bar and restrooms. This private venue was perfect for dining, mingling and having fun. We ordered from the menu. Everything from fried green tomatoes to eggplant tower to coconut shrimp for appetizers, followed by fresh salads. Entrees included red snapper which was fresh and plentiful cooked a couple different ways, lamb, filet, scallops, and more. The pace was perfect and dishes were tasty, hot and timely. To top it off, they offered a separate check option. Could not have had a better evening. The Talk:house was top notch! We came to this restaurant because we had heard it was somewhat a great place at one time. It became apparent that this was obviously a while ago. Our waiter Alex gave good service but that's where the good ended. The lump crab appetizer looked like they just flipped over a can of crabmeat onto a plate and added 2 tablespoons of chopped mango. The spicy mayo served on the side was out of a jar. The sausage stuffed mushrooms were so greasy that my wife could only eat one. Now it's time for their big daily special shrimp stuffed fish. The fish was cooked properly, but the stuffing was totally not appropriate for this dish. The onions and celery were still raw and cut large, and the shrimp were whole medium shrimp, not chopped. There was no binder with the breading to pull it all together, not mention it was flavorless. The burgers had good flavor and were cooked properly. that's where the 2 stars come from. You can't charge Manhattan prices and drop the ball on your chef's skills. Someone needs retraining. Might be management and cooks. Hair in my salad, wine delivered as dinner was delivered, 4 shrimp (not jumbo) for $34 that were like rubber, chicken that was very dry. Asked for food to be delivered leisurely- kitchen said no and it came out right away. This was reported to several staff members, and not one person from management ever came to the table. We have been here several times and have truly enjoyed it except for last nigh. We had made reservations for 3 outside via Open Table which were confirmed. When we arrived we were told by the manager it was at his discretion seat us which lead us to the dining room. We had to ask for the outdoor menu and altho the waitress was nice appeared only once. I showed him my confirmation email but he felt and was VERY condescending this was my fault as although it confirm outside he was not notified of that. People sitting at tables with big smiles on their faces sipping their Delicious Concoctions.We went through a door to get inside. Good Crowd mingling at the Bar. We followed the Host Ray where We went into the Back room where there are numerous tables. We had a Perfect table for Four in the back Corner. I ordered a Drink from the 1920's a Brandy Alexander. The Bartenders Expertise was Precise if not Better.I ordered the Stuffed Mushrooms were the Best. Very Tasty. Checked it out, sat in The bar area very nicely redone from the old Cortines. Same waitstaff as when it was Cortines, and good service. Menu looks interesting ! salmon carpaccio large serving and the salmon tasted kind of frozen but was overall pretty tasty. Other person in our party had the salmon roll which was loaded with salmon. Another member tried the beef short ribs which was a generous portion and she's ate every bit said it was delicious. Busy for a Thursday night and I think it will do well. Went for NYE dinner. Excellent service from the minute we walked in the door by everyone, especially our server, Lisa. (thank you, Lisa and Julie for assisting with my wardrobe malfunction!). Food was delicious and well presented. Warning- Portions are overly generous. We had the crab stuffed snapper and mushroom fettuccine and enjoyed them again today. Party outside on the patio was so much fun- the band was great, Steve - the owner - went out of his way to chat with all the guests and made sure everyone was having a good time. Best of all were the real wood burning fire pits. It was a chilly evening and the fires and gas heaters were just perfect for the temperature and atmosphere. Our drinks came quickly and were very good. The table had the Espresso Marino's, sangria, and a Bloody Mary. We share the Brie and the coconut shrimp appetizers, each were phenomenal. For my entree I had the Pasta Carbonera with chicken. So good! The ambience was very nice, complete with a piano player. While I have eaten there before, last night's Dinner was disappointing. I ordered A simple Caesar salad and added Salmon as my protein. The salmon was fine but when I ordered I had asked for my Dressing on the side....I do not like My salads drenched in dressing. When it was served it came with the Dressing mixed in the greens which Left the greens somewhat limp. I mentioned this to Dillon our waiter And he said Sorry. Well, I'm sorry I won't go back. First, the good. The salmon carpaccio was delicious. The crispy bluefin tuna roll was quite good as well as was the coconut shrimp. So basically, their appetizers really shine. Second, the roasted beet salad my wife ordered was excellent - generous, lots of beets, goodly portions of goat cheese. And the accompanying piece of salmon was delicious, even if slightly overcooked. Now for the bad news. The stuffed red snapper was a real bust. The stuffing was pretty much mush except for the rubbery shrimp in it, with very little flavor and if there was lump crab in there, it was indistinguishable in either flavor or texture. I'm from Mobile, AL and I know fresh jumbo lump. The pieces should be large and have good tooth and flavor, that was not the case here. At all. The snapper itself was very thin and so overcooked it could have been anything because it had zero flavor left. And if there was a parmesan crust on the fish it did not register. The so called sauce was watery and flavorless. I tried dipping some of the bread (delicious) in it just to confirm and it was bleh! The whole thing was a bland mess and something I would be embarrassed to serve myself. There are so many ways it could have been better. A generous addition of garlic and butter to the stuffing would have helped. I don't know why the stuffing was so mushy, surely it doesn't have to be. Finally, overcooking red snapper to the point of making it indistinguishable from sawdust is just wrong. Perhaps the stuffing should be cooked separate from the fish and the two brought together at the end. Or maybe the cook should be fired. Don't know, don't care. At least they comped me for the stuffed fish, unnecessary but appreciated. The staff said they would submit my feedback to the kitchen, but I have my doubts about that. I think that unless they modify the recipe significantly they should just pull it from the menu; it is just that bad. Finally our waiter was personable and knowledgeable, but we had to wait quite a while between her visits. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt by allowing she may have been slammed, because that is a common problem in the age of COVID. We were a bit surprised though when she came up and asked us if we wanted dessert before she had even take our entrée orders. Not having a good day. So I do have to say I want to come back again and try more items on the menu because the salmon carpaccio especially was really well executed. But I will be more cautious and ask more questions before selecting entrees. read more

My first visit! We were a very chatty table of four. Our server Ivy was so very kind and patient with us as it took us awhile to get settled and decide. Service was excellent: Ivy was attentive without being intrusive. Drink orders were taken and delivered promptly, and we didn't need to search for her when more were desired during our meal. Food came out quickly. All 4 of us were pleased with our choices. Plates were cleaned! My beef tenderloin salad (Ivy's recommendation!) was more than filling. Beef temp was a perfect med rare. Salad ingredients were impressive: cashews (a LOT -- even the other 3 said wow), hearts of palm, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, shredded carrots, cherry tomatoes, crescent-moon cucumbers (so cute!), and mixed greens. It was great, and so beautifully presented. I kept watching all plates of food passing by to other tables (with friendly and quick service btw). All looked delicious. Seeing the other plates, and experiencing the great service from Ivy, the food runners, and the table bussers has me looking forward to my next visit. I'm eager to try other menu offerings! Oh, almost forgot: during drinks and before food delivery was a complimentary basket of deliciously warm assorted breads and rolls. Yum. read more

We had very high hopes for our visit to the Talk House. They have a wonderful menu, but the food does not deliver. My husband ordered the rack of lamb, and I ordered the duck. The lamb was bland and flavorless, and when the duck arrived on our table pre-sliced, I knew I was in trouble. I hardly got through 3 bites before laying my fork down. The accompanying house salads were drenched in their house dressing and nothing to remark about. We held out hope for dessert, but that was nothing to write home about either. Flawless! Decided to check this place out after reading several reviews. Loved the selection on the menu, which make ordering a challenge. Nice family ambiance, especially the outdoor seating area. Nice selection of wine and drinks. We enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, the hog fish francaise, and filet mignon prepared Diane style. Everything was cooked scrumptiously to perfection. The key lime pie was amazing with a unique twist that gave it a nice texture with the brûlée style top. It was deliciousness! We put off going here for awhile because the previous restaurant was known for its older crowd. We were shocked to find that it had been entirely updated with a beautiful back patio adorned with string lights and live music, and the inside was moody and romantic with large TVs around the bar and a second live musician. We sat outside as there were big inconspicuous fans that kept the hot Florida air moving. We shared the best escargot I've ever had, my husband ordered the Pork bordelaise which was gigantic and awesome (we've included a picture) and I got the hogfish francais that was cooked perfectly with an incredible, even the veggies on the side were well done. We finished with the creme brûlée which was outstanding with fresh strawberries and an espresso, also pictured. We were so pleasantly surprised we can wait to return! read more
