heard great things about this place so we checked out the website to look at menu. early bird advertised looked just perfect to use our $50 gift card received from freinds. it states early bird special is $22 for 3 coarse meal includes house salad entree and dessert. upon being presented the regular menu we asked about early bird special. seemed like maybe a secret so server brought us the early bird menu. not only was the price $5 more at $27 but no mention of salad! we enjoyed the food and presentation just wish as much effort went into the advertising as went into the food!!! fake news read more

We had an early 6:15 reservation, which worked fabulously. We were able to pick indoors or on the new patio area, chose all fresco. The whole place has been done over. Ample parking. Cashew crusted salmon, maple leaf duck, filet mignon, liver and onions (for those so inclined), stuffed hogfish, fried green tomatoes, Caesar salad w/anchovies (a $2 upcharge), the salad were cold and crisp, the entrees served piping hot. As I'm sure most of these reviews consist of some talk-related pun, there is a lot to talk about with the Talk House. Most of it very, very good! Make sure you and your company have things to talk about: Be prepared to wait a long time for your food. We were there on a Sunday night, and while it was a packed house, there were very few waitstaff out and about. However, the service was wonderful when we had it. Our server, Matt, was most enthusiastic and attentive! You will certainly talk about the food. It's delicious!! Fresh local seafood, scrumptious appetizers, and the Rum Whisperer, one of the yummy cocktails available. One Rum Whisperer will surely loosen the tongue and get the conversation flowing. Tried out for the first time on a busy Saturday night. Service is good. We ate in the bar area so the piano playing and singer were 10 feet away. He was not too loud which was appreciated. We could have a conversation. The food was good, not as good as anticipated though. Salmon carpaccio was ok. Short rib was nice and tender but I'm guessing the demiglace was not from scratch. My wife enjoyed her tenderloin salad. Our guest could only eat half his pork Milanaise it was so big. Fried green tomato was good. Yummy food, live music, and a good happy hour deal on martinis. the key lime pie is bruleed on the top.... which is geniusly scrumptious. the one MAJOR disappointing con of the place was the use of plastic cups!! every single glass of water was served in a plastic cup, and they werent shy with plastic straws either. I cant even imagine how muxh plastic waste this place produces in a day, especially alarming because its right by the water! weve known about the dangers of mindless single use plastics for too long for this to be a common practice. stuart is known for its waterfront location, talk house should do their part to keep it beautiful. read more

First time here since it was Cortines..difficult to get reservations which is annoying for a "local". Despite that, the service was excellent and the food definitely a cut above. We had the rack of lamb and it was actually a full seven ribs!...thats unusual (most restaurants call three or four chops a "rack".) Wine was nice and vegetables were actually better than the usual "medley". We will make this one a keeper! This is such an unfortunate review to make. . Here we go; My boyfriend had been there before, and he LOVED it. Obviously, it's Mothers Day weekend, and we wanted to treat my boyfriends mother to a fantastic meal because she's a fabulous human being. I made reservations for 8 PM & When we arrived, I thought the ambiance outside was beautiful, so we opted for an outdoor table with live music- That's when we met our server Cindy. She was short with us in the very beginning, and never offered us any specials if any had been available for Mother's Day weekend. No matter, I'm in the industry so I'd say I'm pretty forgiving.. Moving forward, We asked for a round of waters, and to look over the menu for a moment or so. Ordered four appetizers or so, a few drinks, and enjoyed those while we waited to place our order. And waited. And waited. And waited some more. We were done with the appetizers & needed a refill and to place our entree orders. She dropped my drink off to me, an old fashion, and hurried off to clear off tables and to pick up a check from a table long gone. When we asked if we could place our order, she looked at us annoyed and said "Yeah yeah, I'll be right back" Okay, so we waited. And WAITED. She came, the mothers best friend asked for new silverware because his was taken with the apps & we placed our order- my boyfriends mother asked for hog snapper- PLAIN- nothing on it, which is clearly what plain means. No lemon sauce, no seasoning, no butter- just cooked fish.... PLAIN. This was stressed multiple times. Of course it comes out wrong, when we explain this calmly, cause you know- things happen right?: "Hey, she asked for it plain, nothing at all on it. Can you please have it remade" This to me, seems to have been when this woman's attitude went from 0-100. It was all down hill from there. Youd have thought we asked for the entire meal comped verse just asking her to correct the mistake on the fish! After a minute, we decided this server, Cindy is clearly having a bad night, & that The Talk House was no longer the fun, relaxed Mother's Day dinner we wanted. Disappointing but we decided we'd have our food boxed up and depart. This has never happened to us, and we go out frequently so, we decide to chalk it up to a loss. Can't win 'em all right? Well, His mother's friend leaves the table to go speak to a manager. The manager, John comes over, apologizes, and defends Cindy, saying she's been there for quite some time and is never like this, usually a meek person. Being in the industry I can appreciate this. Everyone has a bad night, right? They send over a nice gentleman to box up our food, and over comes Cindy..... When I tell you, that this woman, looked at my boyfriends MOTHER, and in the most sarcastic tone says "I'm SO sorry for the terrible service" and clasps her hands upon her chest, tilting her head to the side. This is a GROWN woman, not a teenage brat at her first job. THATS how a grown women chooses to address this situation? On Mothers Day Weekend???? Are we serious? After my boyfriends mother asked her to refrain from her sarcasm, things only got worse. I was so floored, I got up from the table and went to speak with management myself- I couldn't believe what had happened!! The manager John all but shrugged his shoulders at me. Never refilled our drinks, couldn't follow simple directions when putting in our order, didn't check up on us, we basically had to request her to do her job which she failed at miserably. Most of the food with the exception of the salmon roll was delicious. However we got a waitress that was absolutely horrible. We came the evening before Mother's Day and the venting was ruined for us. Cindy was our waitress. We spent an extremely long time between every thing. I'm talking water refills, order taking, just getting her to come to the table, She literally would be walking by and I called out to her and she had no other customers because the other tables had already left but she waved me off and said she'd be back then disappeared for another 20-30 minutes and forced me to have to ask for someone to bring her back. We were out to have a pleasant evening and took one of omg closest friends out for Mother's Day along with her son and his girl. So the evening started off nice enough. We liked the ambience and the son and his girl had been there before so we knew the food was good. The weather was great for outside and there was supposed to be live music The first signs we were having issues started when we got the waitress. I complimented her and asked her to take our appetizers with drinks which to her credit is the one thing she did. However the drinks took forever to arrive. At least the busboys had the water glasses taken care of for us. Some 15 minutes later the drinks finally appeared along with Cindy. She didn't think to take our dinner orders, mention specials or go over anything at this expensive restaurant however. At every decent restaurant I've ever been to I'm always asked if I've been there before and told what they're known for and told what the place is known for or what they're offering for special that night. This woman didn't even take our order for still another 30 minutes after our appetizers were finished and we were getting very restless. Now had the place been packed and we had seen her running table to table this may have been forgivable but she was just taking care of us. One of the things that really ticked off everyone at the table was us asking her to take our order and she blew us off but as she did so she picked up the check from a table that left and we all watched her open up the little black vinyl they bring it and take care to find out what her tip was rather than worry about what we needed then proceed to help the busboys and 2-3 other people clean off that table. Meanwhile our appetizers are done and we are still waiting to have our order taken and at this point she has disappeared inside, presumably to count her tip money. So for the kicker of the evening. And what really almost made us start yelling and even I raised my voice some and I never do that in a restaurant to a waitress because I grew up with a best friend who was a cocktail waitress and always respect people in the service industry. The entrees finally arrived and our "Mom" who we were taking out for dinner, her special order was messed up. Because Cindy didn't bother to write down the order correctly. Mind you, we have waited now and it's about 9:20 and we arrived at 8:00 pm and we are just getting entrees and most of this time was waiting for them to refill water glasses or take our order. I had a coke and never was my drink refreshed nor replaced. It was ice water that tasted a bit like coke by 9:20 but good old Cindy was oblivious to anything except the tip she got from her previous table. So at this point the son was livid the mom was not even going to eat and the girlfriend of the son was indignant so since I was the only one left willing to not yell I was voted to speak with the manager. I went in and asked the nearest waiter who was standing in a corner inside doing whatever he was doing inside which was not my business but it certainly was not taking care of the outside tables - and asked him to get the manager over to see us. When the manager arrived he thought it was just about the order that was messed up. Which he did take off the bill. We wanted to go elsewhere but because we had made such late reservations we were stuck there. In any case I would have expected the entire check to be waived for the service we received. And we are not cheap people. Cindy missed out on easily $150 tip on a $207 check had she just come and done her job, checked on us, refilled our glasses, taken our orders in a timely manner, asked if the girl who had a cocktail wanted another, (seriously 1.5 hours and not once did she get asked if she wanted a second drink- that's pretty wedding bad service, and asked how any- even one bit of the food was. I'm talking appetizers since we had the entrees wrapped Cindy and her horrible service wasn't even more so was how she came over with her attitude after we complained to the manager. Went there on a recommendation. Didn't know we needed reservations but luckily they were able to accommodate us. I thought it was odd bc there were so many tables available, but before I could say it, that restaurant filled up so quick. We weren't dressed up but most people looked casually fashionable. The service was friendly and efficient. The martini was just okay and it was in a heavy glass. I don't care for that. The piano player was a very nice touch, I just wish I recognized the songs he was playing. The food was outstanding and we definitely will go back. read more

After reading all the reviews, I thought for certain this place would be a big hit. I was not as fortunate as those who made those ratings. My meal was over-cooked and the service was just so-so. Absolutely nothing to compliment here, except a little disappointed. The dining room is very loud, it's hard to have an intimate conversation, and the bar is almost too busy to provide good service unless you're a regular. I would probably not return - there so many nicer places nearby with great food and excellent service. read more

In Stuart, this is my favorite restaurant. I consider it better than The District and 100 decibels quieter! Try either the fried green tomato or stuffed mushroom appetizer to start. Both are very good and these are not small appetizers by any means. For entrees, the crab cake or snapper francaise are great! The scallops on the specials menu are also very good. We have eaten in most similar Stuart restos and this is our favorite. read more

Another fantastic night at the TalkHouse! Thank you Chef David & staff. We introduced friends from Saratoga, NY and they now have a new favorite place to visit. From great drinks at the bar, to wonderful meal in my favorite dining area, by the fish tank! A little quieter for my husband's hearing, plus fun conversation with our friends. From our escargot to my perfectly seared scallops, my husband's delicious crab cakes and friends pasta carbonara, all were hot, perfectly prepared and delicious. The TalkHouse might be one of the last remaining first class restaurants that include a house salad in the price of the meal, amazing in this day & age, where one gets used to being nickeled & dimed to death. All I can say is I wish I had stopped in sooner. I drove by the place every day when I worked at the hospital and from thr road it didn't look like much so I never checked on it. A friend who works for Publix suggested it as it was my wifes birthday. The place is got a great vib, sports bar, with dinning in the wings, Love it and the food was excellent. We enjoyed a delicious meal at the the Talk House. Matt was our server. He was very friendly and professional. He helped with meal selections and was a delightful host. We enjoyed the salmon carpaccio ( a large portion that can be shared), the beet salad and the endive salad to start. Next we enjoyed the lamb chops(delicious and cooked to perfection), duck(delicious) and a tasty hog fish with a lemon butter sauce and farro. The meals were thoughtfully presented and tasty. We very fortunate to visit this restaurant as guests of our neighbors, themselves visitors of Sweden, on Easter Sunday, and the Menu gave us fantastic choices from Antipastos to Desserts. The table ordered four different main courses, and we couldn't have chosen any better. The only two questions I had was that there were only two handicap spaces (near the entrance) which were taken, and having to park in the back lot, the spaces were not big enough to comfortably lower my lift from inside my mini-van to get to my chair. The other question, perhaps not as important, but I just went through the 15 pictures you have of you 'plates' and only the first couple had a description of the food. Probably 4th visit to this spot. First trip just after opening, food was great. Its been a steady decline. Was surprised inside restaurant half full..maybe quality food reason. Had swordfish special, so over cooked and dried out it was hard to swallow, thank goodnedd for mango salsa..escargot had no flavor, like they forgot the garlic. Great waiter, food service very slow. What a great restaurant. The only thing to complain about, is the waitress never explained that a straight up drink costs more. Food was great, and flavorful. I have been here twice for happy hour at the in door bar. Both times great bartenders and service. The HH appetizers are amazing and many choices. This is an over priced loud restaurant. They have a piano player that cannot sing but he thinks he can. He is God awful and really loud. On our bill they had a request for a 30% tip. The only thing good about this loud bar and restauant for senior citizens is the soft, warm rolls they serve. read more
