Today, my friend and I went for a magical, enchanting and delicious talking teacup experience. The entire tea house was decorated in green and Irish paraphernalia. There was Irish and Celtic music playing in the background the servers Linsey and. Madison were attentive and extremely personable. My friend and I picked out our two teas to share. Both were delicious. We had pistachio and Irish bread scones. We had a mouthwatering potato and cabbage soup. Our third course was a variety of delicious tea sandwiches, one of which was a corned beef cabbage sandwich. The corned beef was soaked in a tea. There was an egg salad sandwich, cucumber, and herbs, pretzel, and cheese. We learned this from the owner Patty, who is extremely passionate and committed to serving delicious food that complements the tease and the theme. Our desserts were a pistachio Bundt cake with a cream in the middle, a chocolate shamrock cookie and some kind of a mini yummy other dessert. This place is so cute. I took my mum here for her birthday tea time. The sandwiches were delicious and so were the desserts. It looks a lot smaller on the outside than it really is. Food...skimpy, very little food served. Selections of food...minimal. Service...our wait staff was excellent...she made the only good impression on us. Ambiance...hardly there. Low lights, billboard signs on the wall to make it look like a library...did't work. Hostess...not very pleasant...looked like she was angry and not too friendly. My husband thought she may bite. Not the best tea experience by far. The price is high for what is served. Scones were good but the four tiny "tea sandwiches" are lacking in taste and quantity. The addition of soup for $5 was not even a regular portion and looked lost in the bowl. Nothing is served on a traditional tiered stand that other tea places regularly use. The ambiance was beautiful, the owner decorates herself. However the owner is not a people person and rude. I also saw many other reviews say the same. I know inflation is happening but $34.95 for 2 small scones, 5 tea sandwiches, a half cup of soup as you see in my pictures and two desserts with a pot of tea is a lot of money. 3 people with tip $127. I give 2 stars instead of one for the delectable scones, the one dessert and the decor. The tea sandwiches were ok, nothing to write home about. Other than that, I recommend going to Tilly Mint Tea Room for a superb High tea that includes more and the owner is delightful. Forgot to mention that lemon curd and jelly are not served. read more

I've been to this tearoom several times and they never disappoint. This weekend was a themed tea - Mad Hatter tea party! The tearoom was decorated for the occasion with all staff in Alice in Wonderland costumes. There was a best hat contest for the guests and trivia. The menu was preselected so no choices in the food or tea selection. The scones were summer flavors with a new raspberry lemonade flavor (so yummy). The tea selections for the event were special blends created specifically for the event. The flavors were all fun and perfectly matched the occasion. My personal favorite was the Mad Hatter Tea. It was a black tea with chocolate. Two thumbs up on that tea combo. I would highly recommend this tearoom for High Tea or one of their special event tea weekends. The tearoom is small. I'm going to start by saying that I haven't actually been to the talking tea cup. I know plenty of people that have but I have not. This is a review in response to how they operate as a business which is extremely outdated. They have social media , post about events. In the event posting they say you must call to make a reservation. They have no online platform. Well they have a website but it's not of any real use. I called to make a reservation for one of their events and you literally just have to leave a message and hope that you get a phone call back? There are no hours of operation so you don't get to talk to someone. Just leave a message with what you want. After leaving the message I see on their social media that they're going to vacation. But I haven't received my call back. I got a call back after they went on vacation (just before posting this event I might add). Only to tell me that the reservation I wanted is booked and if I want to do another. I'm not playing phone tag. How do I know you're not just going to give the spot to someone else ? Also in the message you still don't give a time to contact you. You're supposedly on vacation, why are you conducting business? And lastly, for this event which you can only call to make a reservation- no price. So I make a blind reservation and have no idea how much I'm going to be charged. But don't worry, it's not just events that operate this way their entire business is run by making reservations over the phone. The only hours listed are the times you can make appointments for and there are no prices. It's 2024, I'm sorry but this is a terrible way to do business. I wish you the best of luck but I cannot play phone tag to make a reservation. Get online booking. *as I just went to double check the information they do post on their website, it now says the website is insecure and my phone won't even open their page. I'm shaking my head. If you want to gamble for a spot at their tea house, be my guest, I just don't have the patience or time to chase down a reservation. read more

We just had my daughter's Bridal Shower at The Talking Teacup. Patti, the owner and the staff were amazing. The food was soo delicious, everyone raved about it. The ambiance was beautiful, warm and welcoming. Patti from the start asked me what I wanted and helped make that a reality. It was truly a magical day. My family has been to the Talking Teacup on three occasions (Halloween, Christmas, and Mothers Day). Each experience was unique, including the menu which was different each time we visited. Their homemade soup is to die for (we loved the roasted pepper tomato bisque on Mother's Day and the broccoli cheddar during the Christmas holidays). The scones are served fresh and warm, the tea sandwiches are flavorful and served in unique shapes, and the desserts win for both taste and presentation. The staff is friendly, and explains each menu item as they're brought out. And the inside of the teahouse is cozy, quaint and beautifully decorated. We live about 45 minutes away and have tried several other tea houses, but the Talking Teacup is our personal favorite! I went during "scone fest" which I had no idea was going on until I arrived. I didn't make a reservation...strike one. The lady at the front was a bit haughty when showing me to my seat--I was reminded how lucky I was to get a table when I hadn't had a reservation. When the server came over she read off a list of scones to me. All sounded delicious. "How about the finger sandwiches", I asked. I got a cold hard stare back at me..."It's SCONE FEST....we are only serving scones", she said. Strike two...I like scones but I also like the full tea house experience (finger sandwiches etc.), which they do usually serve, but NOT during the 'fest. So....I ordered a flight of scones. They arrived, and as expected, were delightful. However, after two or three (they were small) I found myself having had enough. Who wants a litany of the same thing? When it was time to depart, I found the server quite tart. I hadn't complained or anything, and dutifully paid and tipped too. Strike three, I'm afraid. I won't be back. Somehow I recently learned of The Talking Teacup and made a reservation for their 3-year anniversary tea. The tea house is cute outside and in. The staff are amazing and very attentive. The tea included 3 courses along with a var of teas. They had delicious chocolate and almond scones, honey vanilla and white chocolate scones; an array of tea sandwiches including chicken salad, egg salad, red pepper, cucumber and herb, and a shepherds pie tartlet. The desserts were a tea cookie, a toffee bar, and an amazing tea and honey infused crème brûlée. The owner changes out the decor on a seasonal basis. I loved the gnome in the woods theme! read more

The mantle, the shelves, even the sill of the restroom window were all decorated. I loved the Halloween and Christmas decorations. At first I thought the seating schedule was odd, but after visiting I have a better understanding. A group of us took one of our friends to tea for her 60th birthday.  The company, as always, was perfect.  Sadly, nothing about The Talking Teacup was anywhere near perfection. We arrived and were told they wouldn't seat three of us.  One of our party was stuck in traffic.  When we were finally seated we were cooly greeted.  The young woman server was abrupt at best.  Interrupting conversations, awkwardly reaching over and around us, interrupting again during the unwrapping of gifts. The guest of honor is vegetarian.  When I made the reservation I was told it would be no problem to just alert our server.  This was not the case.  The server brought out the manager who was even less friendly.  She said she would try, but they really needed notice....not what I was told at reservation time. The food was OK but poorly presented.  I've been to several tea houses and have always had lovely presentations.  No tea refills were offered although the menu clearly stated that each person could have 1 refill.   The icing on the cake (birthday pun) was the abrupt announcement, in an empty room with empty tables, that our 90 min seating was over and to pay and leave. If you want to have a lovely tea in the area I suggest The Village Teahouse in West Point (not available on our day of choice) or Tilly Mint's in Souderton (closed due to a death in the family). read more

We celebrated my sister's 70th birthday here. Price was expensive for the food we got. Server was lovely but did not know what we were eating, she said the chef makes it and she serves it. When we made the reservation, we informed them of food allergies. The owner? manager? came to our table in a huff and said we were supposed to inform them when we made the reservation. If you have a disability and use a wheel chair or walker this is not the place to go. I have filed a complaint with the ADA. I can't even think of appropriate words to describe the owner. I first went on 9/2 and experienced her rudeness with a witness my mistake was going back. She asked me if I could get there like 20 min early on 9/23 so I did not hold anyone else up!! I inquired about a down payment on a reservation for 9/23 she obnoxiously and loudly told me this could not be done so I got a GC for 130.00 to use on 9/23. A party of 5 it was a birthday surprise and I did not want anyone to get a check. She wrote nothing down on 9/2 . On 9/23 the surprise was ruined. Even after I gave the GC and did my best to explain payment again. She spoke to me like I was an idiot, did not inform the server so the server came to the table and proceeded to discuss the bill with my friend right there to hear all about the cost. Then I was told by the owner I upset the server and we do not have that here! It was her responsibility as the owner to inform the server. I did apologize the server and told her it was not her fault. We were rushed out. I would not recommend this place. The owner is not welcoming, is actually almost rude both when making a reservation and in person. The tea selections are robust, but seriously, no English Breakfast? And what tea shop doesn't have milk? The scones were nice with good flavor. The soup was tasty, but a small serving. The sandwiches were a real disappointment- 5 2 bite sandwiches. Unfortunately the presentation was such that each guest has one of each on their own plate so it's difficult to share. The desserts on the day we were there- a minuscule lemon mousse with a very peculiar flavor and a blueberry tart. Most of our party did not eat them. I do wish I could give this place more stars. The selection of teas is fairly good, and the scones, sandwiches, and desserts are nicely prepared (although we've had much better elsewhere). The reviews commenting on staff behavior, comments, questions, etc. are spot on. I've frequented many beautiful and extravagant places for high tea, with my extremely well behaved young daughters, but this is the first time I've actually felt unwelcome in a place, and esp when paying over $200 for tea service for 4 people (including tip). And that price included two imposed "children's teas" (we didn't ask for this - my daughters were simply served it, assumed by staff this was appropriate for them based on age, which I had to specify in advance when making the reservation). FYI you cannot serve a little ham and cheese on white bread and uncrustable packaged pb&j and call it "high tea" for children. My children are more well behaved and well traveled than many adults, and eat everything adults eat. The setting is quaint and kitschy but not at all elegant. Can't say we'll be back. read more

Our party went for brunch. The person who greeted us was rude as was the waitstaff. When we asked for water, they went so far as to scold us for asking for water because "their water bill has gone up so much." The menu says each guest will have an individual pot of tea but they would only give us one pot for every two people. The food was mediocre and overpriced. This place is an actual house which was somewhat converted to a tea house. There is a parking lot in the back with a couple of spots. First of all, I loved how it was decorated! It was charming and very homey. Our table had two adults and two kids under 5. We were seated by the fireplace which was so lovely. First came the tea, then the scones (they were good!), then soup/salad (I loved the french onion soup! The highlight of my visit!), then the sandwiches (was not a fan of any of them) and last were the sweets (good but REALLY sugary). Overall, I enjoyed my experience here and we had a great time. I'm not normally found in a Tea House. My Wife and her Lady Friends dine here on a regular basis, and have ALWAYS had a great experience. After one of her friends was forced to cancel, I volunteered to join her since I know how much she enjoys her lunches here. We were greeted as we walked in the door. and seated immediately. Every employee we encountered was super-nice, friendly, and helpful. Patti, the new Owner came over said hello, and made sure everything was perfect. (It was) The scratch-baked Scones were still warm, and we both enjoyed plenty of Devonshire Cream spread over them. We each had 2) Scones, in different flavors, and they are about the BEST thing ever. It was my understanding that Scones were dry, tasteless, hockey puck- like bakery items. These rivaled the best muffins, Danish, and cupcakes for texture, flavor, and eating enjoyment. I ordered the Russian Mocha tea, and it was the best flavor tea I've ever enjoyed. There is a multitude of selections available, and this was a great choice. The Tea Sandwiches were next, and we both enjoyed the variety, and filling number of them on the plates. The Sweet Tray was next, and these treats rounded out our lunch with a hands-down 5 Star meal, that I plan on enjoying again, now that I've had the pleasure of experiencing it myself. Look out Girls! My daughter and I attended the witch-themed tea service on 10/21/2023 at 2PM. We were extremely excited as we have not back in a few years. My daughter is currently 23. We have been coming since she was in grade school. Our excitement was quickly dampened when I asked the greeter/seater if she wouldn't mind taking a picture of me and my daughter. "No. No. Absolutely not." Was the answer I received. At first I thought she was joking. But no, she walked away without another word. If someone was waiting to be seated, I would have understood. No one was waiting. The server was extremely pleasant. Couldn't have been nicer. Not enough great things to say about her.She had blonde hair. Can't recall the name. The food and tea were delicious. Loved the decorations. When we got to the register, I noticed a painting of the previous owner, who passed away. I told the woman behind the cash register (who told me she is the current owner) the last time we had been to this establishment, the previous owner was very upset and was crying after reading "A Cup of Christmas Tea" because she had just been rediagnosed with cancer. The new owner looked and sounded annoyed and/or bored and said she didn't know anything about that. What a disappointing experience. I will hold onto the great memories of what the place represented. The Talking Teacup's motto is "Come as a stranger, leave as a friend" and Patty lives up to that motto! I've been to many teahouses over the years and this is my favorite. The soups are prepared onsite and are the most delicious soups I've ever had. I no longer ask what the soup is and just order it because I always like it. Even when it is something,I think I don't like ( for example butternut squash), the soup is flavorful and delicious. The tea sandwiches are always seasonal and delicious. The scones, my absolute favorite part of tea, are freshly made, served warm and always the highlight of any tea at The Talking Teacup.
