I'm pretty sure everybody knows about the tamale store. I'm pretty sure everybody knows you know something. I am pretty sure everybody knows about the tamale. What can I really say about the tamales? Everybody knows about it however I will say that when I go to the tamale store, I like to get one hot tamales smothered, and then as many frozen tamales as I can carry, and I carry them home and each tamale is one meal They are so good each tamale is packed with nutrition and delicious. There are so many different flavors. They have the pork red, the chicken green, the corn and so many other ones that I can't even name to be honest there's so many I can't even name them. That's how many I can't even so many, but I will tell you that they are the best tamales in the valley. It is the tamales and they always score the tamales. They are never out of tamales. They will always have tamales if you want a tamale. The tamale store has always been there for me for my tamale needs.

The red chili beef tamales were excellent as I all their food. The refried beans were especially good as well. Get there early and expect a line most days.

Tamale con Chillaquiles

Explosive flavors, cute decor, and exceptional service. Came here with a good friend on a random weekday afternoon after both of us discussing wanting to go here for a while. We ordered the beef red chile tamale "solo style", tamales con chilaquiles, and chips and salsa. I believe the prices are very fair for the portions and would rather come here over Chipotle if only it were closer to me. I got my beef tamale with a side of rice and beans. It was so delicious and filling. I even had some to take home. For less than $15 I say this was a very generous portion. My friend and I both LOVED the salsa. It was so fragrant and wonderful. If I'm able to come again soon, I'm gonna buy a jar for home. It's seriously tasty!

So I came here the other with a friend of mine. And I have been wanting this place for a very long time. I got the tamale with chilaquiles- and I have to say it was not very tasty. The masa was very dry and plain. But I have to say the meat was very good. The service was good- you go in and order and they bring your plate out. The drinks are self served. The ladies were very nice. The place is cute has a market style. Do have to say the chips and salsa were great!!

GREAT restaurant with high-quality food that is extremely vegan-friendly in addition to having great traditional food. I never miss the chance to get vegan tamales, so the Tamale Store was one of my first stops in Phoenix. They have a vegan tamale plate that changes daily (with more options available in the frozen section). On my visit, the vegan tamal of the day was southwest veggie (mushroom, corn, and spinach). It came covered in a dark red sauce. I didn't realize you could optionally get it with green sauce instead. I chose to get it "doble style," meaning two tamales, salsa and chips, and two sides. I got double refried beans as the sides. They did have a second vegan side option (bean and queso tostada) that I didn't have the chance to try. Everything was fresh and delicious. I will return here every time I go to Phoenix, and next time I'm going to bring home some frozen tamales to stuff in my suitcase as well!

After seeing several of their social media posts, we knew we had to check out The Tamale Store, and it did not disappoint! We stopped by on a Sunday for brunch, and as soon as we walked in, I thought, "what a cool place!" They have tons of branded merch on display and an open kitchen where you can see them putting the food together. It's a walk-up style counter where you place your order and then grab a seat. We ordered the two-tamale plate with two sides. For our tamales we chose the red pork and green chile chicken. The portions are seriously no joke! My husband and I shared the plate and were both totally stuffed! The tamales are huge and so flavorful. Before we left we also grabbed a dozen frozen tamales to go (we went for a variety!) and can't wait to try them all!! So, if you're a tamale lover, this is a must! Bonus: you can even order online and have them shipped to your door!

I stopped by before the lunch rush hour because they tend to sell out of certain tamales and are left with only frozen tamales that are for sell in the Mercado. Their red chili beef and green chili chicken are both so good! They didn't have sweet corn tamales that day (My Favorite) so I opted for a sweet corn cookie but the cookie was ok not great. The restaurant is beautiful and it's decorated nicely, I find myself staring at everything lol. The fountain drinks are unlimited and include agua frescas :)

I was tasked with picking up a catering order for my wife's Christmas party. My first impression when I walked through the door was wow this place smells awesome! The order had a good variety of tamales, rice, beans, chorizo potatoes, chips and salsa. It was all delicious. Picked up some frozen Hatch and Jack tamales to take home as they are my favorite. I want to come back when I can actually eat in-house. If you like tamales this is definitely the place!

On our way back into town looking for boba tea, we happen to cross paths with The Tamale Store! So glad this was near by because we've been trying to check this place out for a while. I usually get tamales from the Gilbert Farmers Market. Entering the store, you walk into a market place filled with all your Mexican ingredients and snacks- salsas, tortillas, candy, and frozen tamales. The store also has other menu items such as chilaquiles and posole. We ended up getting a red chili pork, red beef, green chicken tamales and posole. All had green flavor! The salsa were also a hit to add on the tamales. Next time, I would try the chilaquiles. Staff were great. Fast service. I'd come back again!

We tried the tamales first at the farmers market and immediately loved them. Decided to give the restaurant a try and it did not disappoint. These tamales are as close to my Nana's as anyone has gotten. I got the green Chile pork fundido style with street corn and a chorizo and pap a tostada. My husband got the double style with beans and papas w/ chorizo. Both were amazing. Service was good and the restaurant was decorated beautifully. Now. We will be coming back for brunch because I want my tamale wrapped in an egg!! We took a dozen home with us!! Go eat here!!

My parents have been telling me about this spot for a while and i was finally able to stop in and experience for myself. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. Perfect if you're going out with friends. They also have a Mercado where you can buy their salsas, frozen tamales, and Mexican sweets. I ordered the doble tamale plate that came with my choice of tamales and two sides. I ordered both pork, one red and one green. For the sides I got street corn and a chorizo y papas tostada. I was shocked at the amount of food for the price. I ate the tostada and most of the corn and only one bite of each tamal. I was stuffed! We also ordered a pumpkin tamal that was rich and delicious! Ten out of ten recommend from the food to the service, if you're in the area don't sleep on the tamale store!

Pick two hatch & jack and tex-mex, with tostada and street corn for sides

Hands down best tamales I've ever had. The two tamale and two side platter is the way to go, as you will be full and have leftovers to take home, and plus it comes with chips and salsa. The rojo salsa was ao good that we bought a jar to take home. Can't wait to go back and try their different tamales. Service was friendly and fast, and the inside was cute with the little shop in the back.

Does this business sell JUST the masa so I can make my own tamales at home? And if so how much?

So you come in the side door to the dining room . Wait staff all greet you and guide you to the dining room, festooned with roses and talavera tiles. It's not kitschy, just gorgeous. The restaurant is inside of an old brick home with wood interior and warm colors. The service was good-- friendly and food came out at a good pace, we were checked on regularly. We ordered an appetizer and then entrees from the lunch menu. The aguachile appetizer is SO good. It's bright, fresh, and has a lot of flavor in the green sauce. It reminds me of a ceviche type dish due to its raw butterflied shrimp that is marinated in the house made chile serrano & cilantro citrus sauce. It was awesome. We were also given free chips & house made bean dip. I ordered the mixed two item plate with a chile rellano and taco corazon (grilled taco dipped in a red chile sauce, stuffed with shredded beef & melted cheese. Topped with grilled onions). The black beans and rice is also tasty. I tried a bite of the other dishes, and I also really liked the brightly colored spinach & cheese enchiladas with pink sauce ( signature beet sauce). I look forward to trying other items from the menu, I was eyeing the steak Mexicano or red snapper. Those dishes sound good for dinner.

This restaurant is centrally located near the ASU campus and offers generous patio seating in addition to their indoor dining area. I was greeted upon entering and since I was dining alone I decided to sit at the bar. I didn't realize you were supposed to order at the register at the bar, but the bartender was kind and took my order from my seat at the bar instead. I started with chips and salsa, which came with guacamole but I'm not a fan so I didn't give it a try. The chips were perfectly cooked and seemed to be house-made or at least a high quality chip as they were thick and had a good salty flavor. The red salsa had good flavor but mild spice. The green salsa was bright and had a little kick to it. I wasn't super hungry, so I only ordered one chicken taco (without the avocado salsa). The taco was pretty good, although I was anticipating a chopped grilled chicken but it came with more of a pilled marinated chicken. Still good, just not what I expected from a more "authentic" taco. I also missed having a salsa bar with toppings (onions, pico, etc) that you can add. Instead these tacos came as designed by the chef. I also ordered the mango and original house margaritas, both were refreshing and hit the mark with the chips and tacos. They had a $5 margarita for a special as it was Monday, but my margarita was full price. Not sure what the difference was, perhaps a lower quality tequila? This is a great spot for a quick bite or a light happy hour. They are newer, so show some local support!

Also bring a group. The portions are huge and the food is clearly meant to be shared. Trust me on this one, bring friends. I've tried a bunch of dishes here, and there are a few I always go back to. For the table, Camarones Locos is an easy choice. The flame grilled shrimp comes out hot and full of flavor, perfect for passing around. La Patrona ceviche tower is massive and worth the order. When it hits the table, you immediately feel good about the decision. El Pulpazo is technically an entrée, but we always order it as a shareable. The octopus is grilled perfectly and it comes with rice and beans, so everyone gets a little of everything. For entrées, my number one pick is the Lobster and Crab Enchiladas with green sauce. I think about this dish at least once a week. The enchiladas are packed with lobster and crab, and the green sauce ties the whole thing together. Honestly, I could talk about this place all day. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.
