Omg. This was a great stop for a beer and app after a round of golf at the Madera Municipal course. This was our first time here so we were a little indecisive...plus we were thirsty and hungry so everything looked good. The waitress was super patient (coming back 4 times till we knew what we wanted) offered great suggestions and worked with us when we wanted to make the bacon cheese fries into Asada cheese fries. My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way back home. I was in the mood for a good beer and some place where I can sit and relax. We were happy to see a decent selection of beers available. There was a group of people sitting at the bar watching the Cowboys game, and I always get a kick out of watching people cheer for their team. It was a nice environment to hang out. Both my boyfriend and I ordered food. He had the calzone and I had the chicken sandwich. I was not pleased with the sandwich. It was basic bar food, and did not have any flavor. My boyfriend was pleased with the calzone. Maybe I'm just spoiled living in northern California where there are multiple tap houses, breweries, etc with really good food. I think there is potential for Tap House to elevate their food game, but I don't know if this is the direction the owners want to go. Service was great, and like I said I like their beer selection. The service was good. The waitresses were all very nice. They ran out of cheese and turned the fryers off at 9pm which was about 3/4 of their menu. I had paid so they offered sliders instead of a pizza. This is what I got. Three sliders with barely any meat and burnt buns. It came with a tiny cup of coleslaw. I can say this, 5 stars for Madera but in general 3 stars.. For the only place like this in Madera it's nice to have. I get that they are trying to offer the experience and vibe that you would have to drive out of town for, since Madera does not have any pub style businesses just a few bars but the business itself has offerings that are mediocre in my opinion. Pizza comes out charred sometimes on the bottom and the pizza itself is nothing that I'm going to crave with some good ice cold beer. When a business offers several draft taps they should do there best to fill them with variety. When I ask for one beer and they do not have it and then ask for another and they do not have that either then how about you tell me what you do have? Not a good sign in my opinion. The Tap house has been getting busy recently "my guess" having the close by Cool Hand Luke's closing down helped with that. Good service -no problems. The inside seats probably 30 people and is nice and clean, there is also a patio out front with outdoor seating. The business is very small to accommodate the locals. The Tap House is a great new place!! This is our second time coming here and we are even more impressed this time than last time which I didn't think was possible. During our first visit we ordered the Spicy Hawaiian pizza, the Margherita pizza, the garlic knot bread sticks, and a few beers. Everything was super good!! Today we came to watch some football and we were pleasantly surprised to find out that they have breakfast pizzas, mimosas and Micheladas!!! Breakfast is my favorite meal and you can never go wrong with pizza so it was the best of both worlds. The service was exceptional and the food was amazing. Both visits the restaurant was full and the staff made sure to contact everyone and we were never left waiting for refills. They made us a half creamy garlic and half marinara with bell peppers, red onion and artichoke hearts. Excellent service. My boyfriend is allergic to nuts and forgot to ask if the pesto sauce (on the carne asada nachos) has pine nuts and since its homemade she went to ask the chef and they said it does, so she gave us a new one free of charge to accommodate. Let's be honest , this is a nice place to drink beer but food is another matter all together. Let's start with the beer selection, it's great if you like a lot of IPA's. The problem is the volume of IPA to other types of beer is way off and while I do enjoy an IPA every now and then it would be nice to have some thing different. So far the only non IPA beers that I've really seen a lot of at Tap House have been the standard stuff anyone can find at a store. I understand IPA's are trendy right now but you have to offer customers more of a variety. Now the food is fine but just the prices are just a little to high for a basic pizza and entirely to high for their appetizers. Recently I tried their pretzel bites for $3.99. You get four small pretzel bits and a small side of cheese sauce. It was completely way way off, the sauce was served cold and the bites to salty. All in all a nice place to drink a beer after work but just not the kind of place to take a date, girlfriend or even wife for dinner. read more
