We had a lovely Sunday breakfast at this quaint bistro. The service was great and we were well attended to from the moment we hit the door. The food was exceptional! I had the Chilaquiles Verdes. The spice level was spot on, and I like spicy! It did come with sour cream if one needed to cool it down a bit. The eggs were BEAUTIFUL -- rich orange yolks, perfectly executed. The cinnamon roll was yeasty and just sweet enough. Also, the southern potato hash was killer! We would certainly return to this lovely spot for a great meal!

Crab cakes could have been cooked more but nice appetizer to share.

Busy Saturday evening. Sat inside. Noise made it difficult to hear someone sitting across the small table. Outside seating was in front of the entrance and almost on the road. Traffic noise was obvious. We were looking forward to the calimari appetizer but disappointed by the size of the "meat" in the thickly battered strips. My partner described it as eating a battered straw. Scottish salmon was a generous size but a bit overcooked. The potato that came with the salmon was unique and tasty. Rainbow trout was probably the best entree. Servers were friendly and attentive. I might try their breakfast offering some time but not sure the dinner $$ was worth it.

We split the spinach salad, and it's delicious!!

Dahlonega finally has a superb restaurant. Every entree on the menu is special. Service and food were exemplary. Staff, owners and sous chef are wonderful. Dahlonega has a fine dining restaurant at last. Reservations recommended, they are a small, and cozy environment with a welcome atmosphere, but limited seating.

The salmon was easily the best I've ever had, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My wife ordered the chicken scallopini and loved it just as much. You can tell this is a chef who truly cares about his food and takes pride in putting his name on the menu. We'll definitely be back.

Chilly day but the patio was heated nicely. Food was fresh hot, seasoned and cooked perfectly. There were no salt and peppers on the tables but the food was so good we didn't need them! The ONLY issue was that we (3 of us) ran out of water twice! Other wise it was a foodies paradise. We will be returning. Highly recommend!!!

Great menu, service and overall experience. A small place so not great for large groups, but otherwise fantastic!

I wanted to try their pancakes but didn't want a full stack, and our server Robin was wonderful in recommending the Sweet Start. One thing we really appreciated is that all breakfast entrees include coffee or tea, and the prices are already very reasonable. We were also pleasantly surprised to learn that even though we ordered specialty coffees, we could still enjoy complimentary refills of regular coffee. The restaurant has a charming and unique atmosphere, with every table looking a little different from the next. For my meal, I ordered the Sweet Start, which included one pancake, eggs, and bacon. I also appreciated the transparency from the staff. When I asked for an extra serving of their homemade pecan butter, I was informed upfront that there would be an additional charge....a level of honesty that's surprisingly rare these days. My husband ordered the Banana Nut French Toast comes with homemade whipped cream and homemade pecan butter, which also came with bacon. He added a side of eggs as well. Everything was delicious. I'm especially particular about pancakes, and I can honestly say they serve some of the best pancakes I've had. The food was excellent, the service was friendly and attentive, and what stood out most was how genuinely happy all the staff seemed to be. It created a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made our visit even more enjoyable. We would definitely return the next time we're in the area.

We came for their Easter brunch and had a delightful time! Our server, Joshua, was wonderful and all the staff seemed to be enjoying their day as well. The chef was closely monitoring every station to be sure each dish was replenished quickly, and the omelette and carving stations were staffed by very cheerful employees, which made the day all the more festive because of it! And the food . . . So good! None of the usual tasteless buffet food found in many other restaurants, this was truly delicious . We began with a field green salad with croutons and a nice charcuterie board with yummy prosciutto, black olives, cornichon, goat cheese, and fresh buffalo mozzarella. Steamed shrimp with tasty cocktail sauce and incredibly delicious smoked salmon, complete with tangy capers. There were two soup choices and we had the corn and crab bisque. . . delicious as well! Lunch offerings included mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, and fresh steamed green beans and carrots. Next were the protein choices, which included lemon salmon, a gorgeous prime rib with horseradish sauce, and baked ham. To round out breakfast, there was an omelette station ( delicious) and eggs Benedict. Finally, a groaning dessert table with carrot cake, delightfully tangy key lime pie, coconut cake, chocolate torte, and red velvet cake. This was one of the nicest holiday buffets we've ever attended. It was busy but not crowded (so nice they took reservations) like so many Atlanta restaurants tend to be. The view is unmatched and the service and general atmosphere are top notch. We plan to be back for Mother's Day!

Unfortunately, our excitement quickly faded before we were even seated. When I walked into the restaurant, I was completely ignored by a young blonde employee named Claudia who was standing behind the counter in the waiting area. She looked directly at me and continued what she was doing without so much as a greeting or an acknowledgment. A simple, "Good morning, someone will be right with you," would have gone a long way. Since no one else was in the lobby and I noticed a clipboard on the counter, I politely asked if there was a waitlist. Claudia responded with an attitude that she "wasn't the hostess." I calmly asked where the hostess was, and she simply replied that she was clearing tables. There was no offer to help, no explanation of the process, and no attempt to assist me. She continued interacting with other staff members while I stood there feeling like an inconvenience. Thankfully, another employee who appeared to be a waiter noticed me. He immediately picked up the same clipboard that had been sitting on the counter, took my name and phone number with a cheerful attitude, and let me know it would be about a 15-minute wait. His professionalism completely contrasted with the poor customer service I had just experienced. Once seated, our waiter was personable, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was also very good. I ordered the Chicken Sausage Scramble with hash browns, and it was delicious. My friend ordered the Catfish and Grits and thoroughly enjoyed her meal as well. The food and our waiter helped redeem the experience, but first impressions matter. Management should ensure that every employee understands that providing basic courtesy and hospitality is everyone's responsibility, not just the hostess's. Even if greeting guests or managing the waitlist wasn't Claudia's primary role, there was no excuse for being dismissive or rude to someone walking through your front door. Alpharetta has no shortage of excellent brunch spots with both great food and outstanding customer service. Sadly, because of the way I was treated before I was even seated, I won't be returning to The Southern Porch. I also won't feel comfortable recommending it to friends or family. It's disappointing because the kitchen and our waiter did their jobs well, but one employee's attitude overshadowed what could have been an otherwise enjoyable brunch.

It's a small, popular place, and the wait can be long, especially during brunch hours. Some of my friends had to wait for almost 2hrs for the table. That said, it's a family-run style restaurant with a cozy, homey vibe, and the food is good. They serve classic Southern breakfast and brunch dishes, and most items are flavorful and comforting but compared to other brunch places the portion sizes are small. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff is friendly, though service can feel a bit slow when it's busy. Overall, it's a good spot if you're craving Southern comfort food, but go with patience--or try visiting on a weekday to avoid the long wait.
