Fantastic spot to sit down for a nice meal in Apple Valley. The restaurant is large and has plenty of seating. There's a large bar you can sit at as well. You can make reservations and they have an app with a loyalty program. There often is a wait during dinner time, so if you can plan ahead I would make a reservation. Tavern Grill recently revamped their menu and they have some really great dishes! Some notable dishes: -- The Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps appetizer is SO fresh and flavorful! You can add on cashews and avocado. The avocado slices were so thick and fresh. The wonton strips were some of the best I've had -- so light and crispy. The thai peanut sauce on the chicken was fantastic and the ginger sauce had a pretty decent kick to it. -- The Chicken Skewers entree is my go-to dish. It's such a classic and it has consistently been good every time I've ordered it. The chicken is juicy and the peppers and onions have a nice charred grilled flavor. The garlic parmesan sauce complements the dish well. -- The Chicken Wild Rice Soup is on the chunkier side, which I enjoyed! It was nice and creamy and didn't skimp out on the wild rice. The Clam Chowder served on Fridays was a little too salty. -- The Skillet Cookie is so warm and gooey! The ice cream melts right into the warm cookie. The cookie is on the doughier side and the outside is on the softer side. It's almost the size of the entire plate, so it's easily shareable between a few people. -- The Fish Fry Basket doesn't taste too greasy, and the tarter sauce complements the fish well. The fish has a clean flavor and on Fridays you can get a refill of 4 pieces of fried fish for an additional $7.50. You can add on their seasoned sour cream for an additional cost. I would use caution when dining here. I checked my pending charges and it was more than I tipped and the bill. I tipped 25% and was generous. They still tried to weasel more money. I called next day and was left on hold. Then hung up on. After calling back multiple times they didn't answer call. I called from a different number and they answered. Spoke to Mike who claimed he was the GM. Mike was rude didn't want to help. I explained they charged me quite a bit more than the tip and bill. He stated he wasn't there and he couldn't explain why I was charged more. Said he wouldn't fix the bill but couldn't explain why I was charged more. I told him then he should just remove the tip and have it match the receipt. He said he wouldn't do that because I digested the food. I stated I'd pay for the food but you aren't going to tip your establishment 50% of my bill when I never authorized that. He hung up on me. Response to Tavern T the owner. As you may have read I already spoke to Mike who claimed he was the GM and he wouldn't resolve the issue. Why would it be different now? I was so impressed with the Lemon Chicken! I ordered it with the gluten-free noodles, and it was absolutely delicious. The best gluten free pasta noodles I have had (and I've tried them all) The lemon butter sauce was bright, flavorful, and perfectly balanced without being too heavy, and the chicken was cooked just right (I requested grilled . It's not always easy to find a restaurant that offers gluten-free substitutions that still taste amazing, but this dish exceeded my expectations. I'll definitely be coming back for it again! Delicious food and one of the best key lime pies I've had in a while. Friend and I split the chicken lettuce wraps and they were really good. Our server led with asking about dietary restrictions, and let us know that everything is made to order, which made navigating the menu a little easier as a gf person! It seemed like there may have either been confusion over whose section we were in, or the person who was supposed to be our server was too busy, which made continuity of service a little muffled. Overall still reasonably happy with the service. We came here because we wanted a patio, and this one is lovely! My main issue is that the chairs are REALLY loud when they're moved - they're beautiful iron chairs, and I know adding padding to the bottom can be challenging with outdoor furniture, but it was incredibly loud and disruptive whenever anybody stood up or sat down. I'm very sound sensitive, and my friend and I had to stop our conversation entirely for a few minutes so that I could cover my ears anytime the chairs were moving. Sound also echoes a LOT on the patio - we were sat near a large group that wasn't being what I would consider unreasonably loud, but the sound carried so much that it definitely increased the volume level a considerable amount. Service was great. Room was very cold. Everyone enjoyed their food except me. And I'm the on writing the review. My Cobb Salad had so much dressing that it seemed like creamed spinach with the Cobb fixing on top of that. There was nothing but glop under the rest of the ingredients. And the steak was so full of gristle that I could not manage to cut it into bite sized pieces. We had a death in the family. It is so hard to find a place to hold a Celebration of Life. Leigh at The Tavern was very helpful. There is not a rental charge for the room but you will have to meet minimums for the food and drinks. They are reasonable. They do provide a screen and HDMI cable hookup. Plus a microphone. The food was tasy and served hot; the Tuscan Chicken was a big hit. We had charcuterie and 4 entrees and bars for dessert. Everything was very good. You can have an open bar or pick what you want to serve for drinks. I had mixed feelings when I booked this since I have had a poor dining experience here. Was there for birthday lunch Saturday afternoon. Had the blackened Cajun prime rib sandwich. Was nothing Cajun about it. I don't think it was actually prime rib. Either. Over cooked. No flavor to it. I was sat by the host next to the tv so it was great being able to watch the Kansas City chiefs play against the Buffalo Bills. To be honest, overall mediocre. Food was hit or miss, the fries and drinks were great. However, the salmon was not hot and had a weird taste. The food was overpriced for the quality. Service was ok, our server couldn't answer some seemingly basic questions about the menu and our waters sat empty most of the meal and only got refilled once. I don't really understand the hype, but apparently some people do, we waited quite a long time even after putting our name on the list online an hour in advance. We were really disappointed with our experience tonight. This restaurant is nothing like we remember it being. The sesame chicken was overcooked, extremely hard, and overly crunchy -- and for $16 it felt like you were getting one chicken breast cut into four small strips. What made it more disappointing is that this dish used to come with all four sauces, which was the whole appeal. Now it only comes with two, and each additional small ramekin is $1, which felt excessive and very different from how it used to be. The French onion soup was cold, barely even warm at the bottom when it arrived. My fries were cold as well. Our kids' meals came out last, which made dining with children frustrating. I ordered a mule and it was served in a tall glass instead of a copper mug, which made me question whether it was prepared correctly. Small details like that matter, especially when the bill is close to $200 for two adults and two kids. The server was okay, but it felt like either the table-to-server ratio was off or there wasn't much attention to the overall experience. For the price point, this visit was not worth it. It's really sad to see this restaurant go downhill year by year. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. read more

We've been there twice in the last month. The food quality has dramatically dropped off since the last time we were here maybe four months ago. Our food was both burned and fries overcooked. The service today was good and luckily the manager came over and comped my wife's bad food. We followed that will splitting a build your own salad. The salads are huge so splitting it kept it to a reasonable portion for a late dinner. My coworker recommended this place to me as I was visiting our satellite office here in the Greater Twin Cities area. All I can say is, "WOW!" to those Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos. I originally planed to order the fish tacos, but my outstanding waitress Kaelyn talked me into getting the shrimp, instead. I ended up ordering two shrimp tacos and one fish. I wish she had pushed harder for me to order the shrimp for all three, as they were absolutely incredible! Not to say, the fish wasn't good because it was, but the shrimp was next level! While I almost always enjoy bang bang shrimp, it was the quality of the chutney that went with the tacos that really made the them extra special. Delicious and plentiful! In addition, I enjoyed the BYO Bloody Mary, and it could've been even spicier for my taste. Finally, Kaelyn was attentive, kind, and obviously knows how to offer great food suggestions. I have given myself a few days (to calm down) to post my review. My husband and I went on Friday 4/17/26 around 4:35pm. Spoke to the hostess two girls. Requested a booth in the bar but said we didnt want to take the big one for large groups. "No problem" we were told. A very sweet gal seated us at a regular booth. Our server was great. Gave us time to pick out drinks, appe' another drink and dinner. When we were paying our bill..,a new hostess confronted us at our table and asked if we checked in with a hostess. My husband said yes and complemented her. The gal walked away. Then she came back and told us no one seated us ( per the hostess) told us the bar table was reserved and next time we need to do better and check in before seating ourselves. I went here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch, and it wasn't crowded at all. No wait for a table, and a nice sized booth for four. When we got sat down a minute after we got water and the friendliest waiter I think I've ever seen. Service was amazing. We had a lady who was so nice, was very polite and helpful for one of us who had lots of food difficulties. Brought us refills on our sodas before we asked though. But she was so sweet and friendly. I got a spicy chicken sandwich which was delicious. I asked for the spicy sauce on the side so I could dip it and it has a great, hot kick. All of the toppings complemented the chicken, which was great on its own as well. I don't have onion rings often, so I might not be the best judge, but these were great to me. Crispy and light. The classic pepperoni pizza was hot and had crispy edges. Piping hot out of the oven, and was really good. The Italian pizza had so many toppings and was really good and fresh. The food is usually very good, although quite expensive, but we will typically go anyway because we enjoy the food. This review is about pick up orders. Twice now I have placed an order online. When I went to pick it up (and I know it is ready because I received an email), I have to stand and wait for up to 10 minutes before someone will go to the kitchen to retrieve the order. Both times I had to approach the desk a second time before someone went to get it. I am not sure what their system is for pick up orders, but whatever it is, it isn't good! read more

We had a staff Christmas party of over 60 people. The Tavern Grill's crew gave us the utmost exceptional service at the bar area where they served up our drinks and for table service. They made mental notes of everyone's drinks and went around and gave everyone fresh drinks without being asked, they just stayed on top of it. Much appreciated! The room was big and spacious and private, and beautifully decorated for Christmas with shiplap. The filet mignon was 10 for 10, done to perfection. And I never touch mushrooms, I never touch em. But I don't know what they did to the mushrooms on my plate, but I devoured every single one! That's good cookin' that's good eatin'. Tavern Grill, thank you for giving us a great experience last night, everyone enjoyed themselves to the fullest because you went above and beyond to make us welcome and serve us. The food was decent. However, they have stopped carrying Coke products and are now carrying Pepsi. In addition to that, they are now blasting music and you can no longer hear the person next to you even when they are screaming to be heard. It is now too loud. The service is okay, but not great. I don't think we will be going back. It's a shame because we used to go almost every week before these changes. We had four guests from Kansas for the weekend and chose to reserve a table for the Sunday brunch at your restaurant due to our dining experiences in the past. Decided to check this new restaurant out the other night, and it was better than I expected. Atmosphere: It looks great in the restaurant, but in my opinion, the loud pop music did not fit the atmosphere I would expect by the look, which was a bummer. I love the decor and lack of TVs in the dining room, the loud music just kind of ruined the otherwise nice atmosphere. Service: friendly and attentive. I appreciate when a server actually cares what your response is when they ask, many places they seem to walk away before your answer is even out of your mouth, but I did not feel that way here. Food: The crab artichoke dip was absolutely fantastic, I would go back just for that. Even the bread they serve with it was fantastic. We also got the fish tacos, and they were okay, not great. The toppings were good, the tacos were just bland as it didn't really seem like they salted the fish on the tacos, but if they did that and put a bit more sauce on them, they would have been fantastic. But without salt, definitely not worth the price. Just a few small downfalls to an otherwise fantastic new restaurant. Will be back, hopefully they fix those few small things! My initial thought is that everything was fairly cold, but that may not be as much on the restaurant as on the driver. Secondly, I thought the chicken sandwich was very messy, but pretty good -- not great, but good. The fries were a little overly seasoned, but they were okay. All-in-all I feel kinda neutral on this restaurant, but not sure if I'll necessarily be back. read more
