First time doing our taxes here and we will definitely be returning. They are located near mycafe in kapolei. Parking was easy since we weren't there during really busy hours (3pm). Our session took about 45mins but that was fault of my own I should have gotten all my previous paperwork printed and ready for the preparer but Definitely will do that next time. I didn't feel rushed or anything we were able to file our taxes and received our returns under 2 weeks!!! I won't be stressing anymore to do my own taxes when they are very equipped and helpful with it definitely recommend this place for everyone! read more

This location is temporarily located per tax season and for this season it was located near Kapolei Shopping center next to Texaco gas station. After reading information on their website, we pre-printed the necessary forms and brought in the requested paperwork hoping we could get a walk in. We came in on a weekday afternoon and was welcomed in by Alma. When we came in she was available to take us however they didn't have enough "tables" to take us in so we had to schedule an appointment in which they were readily available and open a month before taxes were due. Since we already looked online for the appropriate forms and documents, Alma treated our paperwork as a drop off and was able to take everything for us right there and then. I did ask her if we could keep our originals of our IDs, SSN cards, and birth certificates since it was our first time filing there and she was able to do it on the spot. Also she checked and verified that we had everything needed for filing purposes and to assist us getting the best return possible and she guided us for additional paperwork we didn't even think of including! She was very tentative to our questions as we were first time co home owners and also not yet married so we were concerned how it would affect our individual returns but she was so courteous and helpful with all of the answers she provided to us. By the time it was for our appointment, she had a cancelation prior to ours and offered for us to come earlier if we wanted to. She also had already inputting our numbers and did a "pre crunch" on the different types of filing on which would best benefit us as a whole for which the house should go under. Long story short, her numbers matched spot on and we went with our best choice of filing and got the most we've ever receieved on a return so far. We were there for only 30 minutes, signed the official documents and we were good to go! Going forward Alma will definitely be out tax person. We also both received our tax return via direct deposit for both federal and state within 2.5 weeks of filing with no issues. read more

This is only an update to my experience with Autumn, when we started receiving mail in April 2021 from the state of Hawaii due to an audit for our Taxes filed for 2020 and they required documents they needed to verify information. I reached out to Autumn, sent her photos of the letter with the details and was told that we shouldn't be audited and that she will take care of it. May 2020 I received another letter from the state of Hawaii and again, reached out to Autumn and again with the same response. This goes on for months as the letters just kept coming every month from the state. December comes around I am worried about our federal jobs and our security clearances being revoked and I still reach our to Autumn and this time she provides names of people she apparently has been talking to but we continue to receive letters from the state. Finally reaching out to Hank himself and I am being told that I need to get to his office before the end of the year or else we will lose our tax credit for our solar panels!!! My job was somehow informed that my security clearance is being threatened and may be revoked! I was embarrassed but showed them all the text messages to Autumn to show proof that I was, indeed, working to clear up the huge debt!! .... and now I am angry, upset, and just felt that Hank's Tax Service was a waste of my time following up ALL YEAR and at the last minute having to scramble to save our tax benefits and our jobs!! Unnecessary stress and just a complete waste of effort in trying to resolve something trusting it was going to get done. I've since stopped seeing autumn for taxes. Hank corrected our taxes and even got a hold of the right people with the state and managed to clean up such a disaster. The worst tax experience I've ever had. I do recommend you call Hank when you have any issues with your taxes after seeking their services! While I did and still do appreciate Hank's help at the last minute of the tax hour, I'm still upset that our issue went as far as it did when it didn't have ti be that way. This year, I work with my long time tax person in California, Abid, of eTax Services in Orange, CA! He is able to work with us remotely and file taxes for us. read more

Because of the nature of the business we are in it became apparent the standard local accountants are not familiar with the industry we are employed in. Or they're not use to using additional forms. I did find one who tried to understand and really tried to do good for us. I appreciate the effort and love the dude for it but gotta get whats right for us. I just had one account filed with another company. It was a simple one that should not have taken more than 20 minutes yet it did. At that point I did not want to have them do my other account that was more complicated. Frustrating. A few months later, I found out they made a $150 error in my favor. Back to the original story, to settle down, I ate at a restaurant close by. During the visit I passed by the offices of Hank's Tax Service. I didn't know it was there. I got a strong urge to step in. I did. I spoke with Autumn asking several questions pertaining to our business. Dang she gave out the answers confidently with an assurance that made me comfortable. I felt I was on to something here. No one else satisfied me like that before. I made an appointment to come back within a few hours. I brought Mog with me and every scrap of paper including a pile of receipts and excel spreadsheets printed out. Before we even got started we had a multitude of questions. As we continued picking Autumn's brain I realized I would need to go back home and redo the books. Although I had been in the biz over 10 years ago there were many changes occurring over the years, and several other situations to take advantage off. We couldn't get started. I took everything back home without Autumn taking a look. I crammed for next 3 days working long hours into the early morning getting everything done. During that initial meet it was revealed Autumn has had a vast experience working in many offices, including Federal and State offices. I was blown away. She has a real desire to help her clients, and to give them legal advantages. Getting your return done and collecting your check is not her style. She thrives to do more for you to have your peace of mind and stay ahead of the game. A real hard to find gem. When I finally presented our figures she commended me on the job and stated she could tell the numbers were real. Oh yes they were. She asked a few questions, as we did, going back and forth. In about 10 minutes it was all done. She went over the return explaining everything in detail. Not needed but appreciated. She made it very easy to follow and understand. At the end, I was happy and relieved. We walked out confident our return was handled professionally and correctly. We are happy to have met Autumn. Her contact information is guarded with our lives. She is a valuable asset to our business and lifestyle serving us above and beyond the call of duty. The wealth of information she provides goes beyond our immediate needs into the future growth of our business. That was last year. We've been going to Autumn for the past years 7 years for our taxes, and there's a reason behind that -- because she's great at what she does! We first discovered Autumn when she was with another company, and while we were looking for somewhere else to do our taxes the following year, it was to my surprise that Autumn was now working here. We can always count on her to do our tax refund, because she always finds the best way to get the most out of our refund with no hesitation. She does our taxes pretty quick, too. Maybe 30-45mins tops, depending on how we decide to do our refund. Always answering all questions that we may have and shares all her tools and advice with us that may benefit us each year we see her. Prices on how much it costs for them to do your refund depends on how you file them. Of course, the more complicated ones may cost more for their time and the work they put into it. We had the worst experience of Hank's Tax!!! They messed up our tax. At first there was a discrepancy of $280 from the amount that we were told we should be getting. We called Autumn Levy about it after noticing our return was less than we were told. It was difficult to get in touch with her, she was always "with a client". We were also her client, if she really wanted to talk to us, she could've made the time to do so. It feels like she was avoiding us. We didn't even get a courtesy call from them to update us. They told us that their system had a glitch and that it updated the amount automatically. Because of this we decided to get a second look from HR Block. We found out from them that we should be getting more, there was a discrepancy of $1050. We had to ammend our tax. Which is upseting, this is not what we would like to experience in this kinda situation. I was told that it wasn't the first time that system have a glitch either. Autumn also told us that she and her boss went through our tax again, that they don't see any errors at their end but how did they missed $1050???!! I'm glad that we got it second checked because she was telling us that there was no need for that because they already checked it. If their system didn't get a glitch we wouldn't have found out that they made a mistake and that we should be getting more money back. Poor customer service. Zero stars if it was an option and would not recommend this company!!! read more

Been going through Hanks in Pearl City for the past 2 years. This year we went to the Kapolei location since it's closer to home. We were scheduled w/ Bae on 1/28/19. Everything was going okay until he kept getting our account number wrong! No matter how many times we corrected him & even showed him. He still managed to get it wrong. Her assistant at the front desk inputted some of the figures before I actually got to talk to Autumn so she went through all my papers pretty quickly. I will keep going back to her for our taxes and would recommend her to others, too. Just a caution to people parking in that parking lot. I know nothing about how to do my taxes, so normally my parents will either take me to their person at H&R Block, or take my W-2 and have them take care of it. This time around, I chose to do it myself and I decided to come to Hank's. Unfortunatly, my experience was sub-par, at best. When I walked it, it looked as if they half-assedly set up shop with pull out tables. It didn't look all too professional; at the very least, they could have covered the tables with cloth to make it look somewhat nicer. The lady who filed my taxes, as nice and kind as she was, lacked the better parts of customer service, such as keeping your personal phone on silent and out of the customer's view. Her phone kept going off, and it was distracting, not only to me, but even to her, because everytime her phone went off from an incoming text, it distracter her enough to pick up her phone and text back whoever texted her. In front of me. The customer. After about 30mins, my taxes were filed, but the cost was higher than I expected for a W-2 form. Last year, H&R Block charged me half of what they wanted. Begrudgingly, I accepted it, since I just wanted to leave. Next year, I'll be going elsewhere. 1 star for trying to be courteous but not really pulling it off too well, and another star for actually filing my taxes, despite the price. read more
