Ladera Grill was recommended to me by a friend so wifey and I gave it a shot. #1. Parking is a premium in this area so look for the parking garage nearly across the street from them. #2. The ambience is pretty nice, they have nice animal pictures throughout the restaurant. They have indoor and outdoor seating, a full walk up or sit down bar, and TV's. 3 stars. #3. The service was fantastic, glasses constantly being refilled, asked us if we wanted more bread and butter and our server made some great recommendations "5 Stars" The Food: #1. They gave us 2 nice warm bread rolls with a room temperature salted butter cube. The bread at first tasted salty but then my palate caught up and oh snap! this bread was good!! 5 Stars! #2. The server recommended the beef Wellington. "I ordered it med rare, it came to me med rare" it comes with mashed potatoes and longstem broccoli with cherry tomatoes, and a wine/vinegar reduction for the Wellington. The broccoli had a nice crispness to it and were seasoned perfectly, the cherry tomatoes added some brightness. The mashed potatoes were silky smooth and paired perfectly with the Wellington. NOW THE BEEF WELLINGTON: OH MY .....GOSH!!! My eyes rolled back into my head, it was so good!! The beef was as soft as butter, I could have used a butter knife to cut it (not kidding) and it melted in my mouth. The seasoning with the dough and the spinach with the mushrooms inside nearly caused a wet dream (if you get my point) "and don't even get me started on their reduction sauce for the Wellington!" The waiter walked up to me and smiled and said "and I quote"... gives you goosebumps, right? Oh he knew, HE KNEW!! 5++++ Stars! #3. Wifey ordered the Grilled Salmon salad. She ate the Salmon so fast that I barely had a chance to taste it. She said she really liked it, now I did get a chance to taste the salad and I must say that it was so good that it could have been a stand alone dish. Again 5 Stars. #4. And for dessert we had tiramisu. It came plated beautifully with a raspberry, strawberry, blackberry, whipped cream, and a beautiful orchid flower. The flavor while not the best I've had was still pretty darn good 4 Stars. Overall food and dining experience at the restaurant easily hits 5 stars! Positives - have never had a bad meal. The food was good. Negatives - The service was very slow and our server seemed like he didn't care very much about being our waiter. He came to our table just after we were seated and before we had a chance to look at anything. Stood there looking annoyed as we scrambled to look at the menu for drinks and appetizers. We very quickly told him we would need a few minutes. The few minutes though turned into 10-15 before he came back to take our order. The appetizer took an extremely long amount of time to get to table. The young man who brought it wasn't our server and did not check to see if we needed anything else. When our waiter eventually came back with our cocktails. He just held them out to the nearest person and made us pass them down the table. Eventually after another long wait, our meals arrived. Server nowhere to be found. By this time our first drinks and waters were empty. Server didn't come by for quite awhile after. Some of our party asked for more drinks and water. We never got more water. Server never came by mid meal to ask how we were doing. If we needed anything else. I would've ordered another drink if I had a shred of confidence that it would've been delivered before I finished my meal. Speaking of the cocktail. YOU DO NOT MUDDLE THE CHERRIES IN AN OLD FASHIONED. It was just a mash of fruit floating around at the bottom of the glass. We finally saw our server again when he came by to ask if we wanted desert. He dropped off the menus and then disappeared for another 10+ minutes. At which point I had to go find him to inform him that we wanted to order dessert since we were celebrating my father's birthday. When the other young man brought our desserts we had to ask for new plates and clean utensils. We again had to ask for more water since it wasn't brought when previously asked for. Our server then eventually showed up for the check. He told us the first card didn't go through. He did not do this quietly or with tact. He came back after the second card didn't go through. We did not get any banking notifications about these and inquired if perhaps their system was the problem. It wasn't until the third card didn't go through that he admitted they were trying to fix the problem on their end. He did not apologize. We've dined at this restaurant multiple times a year for several years. This was by far the worst experience I've ever had here. If you care at all about the service you pay for then I would suggest you avoid this restaurant. Very disappointed. Next time we'll be dining elsewhere. read more

Pizza, lemonade and dessert for kids priced at $12 drinks not included. We got our boys lemonade. Appetizer was Calamari which was fresh melted in your mouth. Husband had the old fashion while I had a cab sav from Paso to go with our food. I had the cioppino and my husband had the Atlantic salmon with risotto. My only comment was the crab in my cioppino was not fresh. I can tell that the crab was already cooked when added to the dish.... Yes I can tell. Overall food was great. We visited Ladera for our son's bday and had an amazing experience. It was our first time there and highly recommend. The weather was a bit chilly so we ate inside but they have lovely outdoor seating available which would be really pleasant on a warm day. Appetizers: eggplant rollatini Coconut prawns - both were delicious. If you enjoy eggplant I highly recommend the rollatini. Dinner: everyone in our party ordered the beef Wellington except for 1 Chilean sea bass. We visited Ladera Grill on a Sunday evening and it was fairly empty with maybe 5/6 guests in the whole restaurant. We were seated right away with our reservation into a nice booth. The table setting here is lovely and the menus are high-quality. Everything that you would expect for a romantic fine dining experience. The host who helped us was a young girl and she was very polite, nice, and helpful. :) Something I really love about this restaurant is that they have so many amazing different options to select from. It was honestly a bit tough to make a decision because everything sounded so great in the menu! lol. Eventually I did decide I would try something new so I chose the Filet Mignon Pasta because it sounded like something that is very unique. I have never heard of this before so I was inspired to try it out! :) My boo got the Chicken with rice and broccoli. Everything was delicious! &Wow the food arrived very fast. Many of the dishes can be easily shared as family style. The service was a bit disappointing as there are glowing reviews about this restaurant. Perhaps the staff was overwhelmed and understaffed during my dining experience. My party had to request for the same items multiple times and felt a lack of attentiveness from the staff. Food Complimentary fresh bread with softened butter The bread was served fresh and piping hot with a side of butter. However, my party had to ask for it to be brought out instead of the server bringing it out as a complimentary starter. Truffle Mac ($18.00) Creamy, thick, and truffle-infused macaroni and cheese. This dish was one of the few from the order that was good. Calamari ($20.00) The calamari pieces were fried and served on a bed of lettuce. It was't a very memorable dish as I've had better elsewhere. Kobe Beef Sliders ($22.00) Served with 3 sliders - the Kobe beef that had a few pieces inside with brioche buns. Clams ($22.00) The clams were swimming in seasoned broth. Pappardelle Bolognese Served with long strands of pappardelle noodles and the bolognese sauce and two pieces of garlic bread toast. This was one of the best dishes among the order. Beef Wellington This dish was served with a pastry topping and beef filling, potatoes, French fries, and condiment sauces. Was really hoping this would be the star of the dishes, but it was underwhelming. Chilean Seabass ($48.00) For the price and portions served with this dish, it was a bit shocking to see how small the Chilean seabass was alongside the broccolini and mashed potatoes. It was a bit bland and missing seasoning. Ribeye Steak ($74.00) My party ordered the ribeye to be prepared as medium rare and it was served as medium well. Since it took quite some time for the dish to arrive, we decided not to inform our server since it was already late. Customer Service Lackluster customer service was provided. My party had to follow up several times for items and the food took substantially long for it to be served. Ambiance Dimly lit restaurant with ample dining room tables and a bar. We celebrated my sister's birthday here and although the food was just ok the service was terrible and the food came out so so slow. We had a 15 person party and yes I get it was a Friday night and everyone is out eating and it's busy. But we had to keep asking for things that should have probably been on the table already like plates, silverware enough for everyone at our party and complimentary bread which we had to ask several times. We ended up getting it after we got our appetizers and I guess they don't serve it unless you specifically ask for it. Here's what we ordered: Appetizers: Truffle Mac (5/5) $18 This was an actually really good. They used orecchiette pasta was creamy and cheesy with different blend of cheese infused with truffle oil and garlic cream sauce and the party did enjoy this dish Calamari (3/5) $20 This was a pretty pricey for the amount of calamari we got. It also wasn't as crunchy as it probably should have been so pass on this Kobe beef sliders (3/5) $22 This came with 3 so at an over $7 a pop for a small slider with caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato also came with fries... and the patty was a little dry, meh.. Steamed Manila Clams (4/5) $22 The clams came in a creamy soupy sauce (bordelaise) and we did eat them all and it wasn't too salty. We got our bread after to dunk it in so this was ok Entrees: Beef Wellington (4/5) $52 This was good and the filet mignon was cooked right. The crusty exterior pastry had a slight crunch and went with the garlic mashed potato's and veggies and sauce Parpadelle Bolognese (5/5) $28 The pappardelle noodle was cooked perfectly and the ragu meat sauce was flavorful with chunks of ground chuck meat and came with a crostini Chilean sea bass (3/5) $48 This was ok. The fish I think was slightly overcooked and overcooked fish does not taste good. Came with the same side mashed potatoes and broccolini. Ribeye steak (3/5) $74 We ordered this medium rare aand it came out medium (fail) we were so hungry that we didn't complain since it would probably take another hour to fire up another steak so we ate it. Was pretty upset at this $74 price tag over an overcooked steak..... and it was also a pretty thin slice Overall I don't know how they have such good reviews. I had the crab cakes with shrimp and they were delicious and beautifully presented. The prices are on the higher side, but they do have a full bar and a nice vibe overall. We went on a Thursday for lunch and there was a decent crowd. The staff were friendly and attentive. They check on us a few times, and made sure our water glasses were always full, which we really appreciated. The only thing that throw me off, though, was an extra $2 charge for a few slices of jalapeño we asked for on the side. We visited Ladera Grill for dinner and ordered the Chilean Sea Bass, Petite Filet Mignon, and finished with the Chocolate Marquise for dessert. The Chilean Sea Bass was fantastic; it was perfectly cooked, moist, and flavorful with its miso soy glaze. The garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed greens on the side complemented it beautifully. The Petite Filet Mignon, however, was underwhelming. Even though we requested medium-rare, the steak came out closer to rare, making it very chewy. At this price point, I expected more precision in cooking. The Chocolate Marquise was rich and smooth, easily the best part of the meal after the sea bass. Service was decent, and the atmosphere was pleasant for a night out. But at over $140 for two entrées and dessert (including tip), it felt overpriced for what we received. I've heard great things and was excited to visit but the service or lack there of knocked the wind out of my sails pretty early on. We were greeted with a rash "what are you having" rather than an introduction to our server, sharing the specials or simply asking how our party was doing tonight. Our food was brought out by runners and our server never checked on us to see how it came out or if we needed anything else. The restaurant was steady but it was a Tuesday night so not overly busy. We ate here recently to celebrate a milestone birthday and were very happy with the experience. We had reservations and were immediately seated inside and presented with bread and butter. There are two inside dining rooms and an outside area. White tablecloths and cloth napkins were on the tables. Cocktails were $15 and Mocktails were $9. It's nice that they have non-alcoholic versions for people who prefer that. We all ordered the Beef Wellington ($52 each). This is not made with pate and mushrooms, but instead with spinach and mushrooms in between the meat and the puff pastry shell. We all ordered ours medium rare. It was cooked to perfection and was delicious. The Wellington was accompanies by vegetables and mashed potatoes. Nobody left anything remaining on our plates! I have been dying to try this place! I finally got my chance and I ordered the filet. It looked and smelled so good. The mushroom sauce was really delicious. The mash potatoes and veggies were "ehh". My stake was extremely rare! This. Aught me off guard, I have never had it raw like this. I was not the only person at my table who ordered this, the other 6 people also had raw steaks. 2 people sent their stakes back. The rest of us ate only the outside of the steak leaving the uncooked raw meat. I didn't want to wait and send my meal back because our servers were already bringing out the desserts. A Local Gem in Morgan Hill! Ladera is truly a local legend. When you're craving amazing food and genuine hospitality, this is the place to go in Morgan Hill. Everything about the experience is consistently top-notch. Not just the food but the people there is what makes us come back. Alfredo, admittedly is so kind to us that we look forward to seeing him there. Some of my absolute favorites from their menu include the seared Ahi Tuna and coconut prawns--both from the appetizer list, and both absolutely bursting with flavor. Their clam chowder is another standout: rich, creamy, and with just the right amount of kick to keep things interesting. When it comes to entrees, the seabass is a must-try--perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. And for dessert... I don't say this lightly, but the banana cake with coconut sauce and vanilla ice cream is my all-time favorite. It's the perfect ending to an already fantastic meal. I also love their Paper Plane cocktail--only my husband's version comes close! 4 Stars - Great Pasta & Service, but Pricey Ladera Grill offers authentic pasta, and the beef bolognese is absolutely the best--rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The sourdough bread is free and delicious, a nice touch to start the meal. However, the shrimp pasta was a bit underwhelming, with only four shrimp, which felt a little sparse for the price. Service and overall quality are excellent, but the prices are on the higher side. That said, it's still a great dining option in Morgan Hill's charming downtown, which has plenty of other good restaurants as well. OMG, I can't believe I am writing this review after raving about this place on Mar 17, 2022. The service and food has persistently declined since then. We have had several very unsatisfactory visits in the last 12 months but decided to give it a try again. What a mistake. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and food. The bartender, Desiree, was surely at best. It took almost 30 minutes for our food to arrive. In that time, I was unable to get Desiree's attention at all. When our food arrived I had to flag her down to get another drink and she seemed quite annoyed with me. On that first round of appetizers, the coconut shrimp, it did not look like a shrimp at all. It was a ball of fired coconut and breading with a shrimp shoved inside. We were still hungry and asked for two bowls of clam chowder. 15 minutes later they arrive, room temperature. How can this be??? A once solid restaurant is now CONSISTENTLY under delivering. That is it for us. We are out, Ladera Grill is off the list. Save your money, as it is expensive, and go somewhere else where the food and service has some predictability. read more

I visited Ladera Grill with my boss right after work on a Friday evening. The restaurant was busy and quite loud, but thankfully we had reservations and were seated promptly upon arrival. Our waitress was attentive and took our drink orders right away. The appetizers arrived within about 10 minutes, which was impressive considering how busy it was. The main courses took a bit longer, but I didn't mind at all--the wait was worth it. I ordered the grilled salmon, which was cooked to perfection and paired beautifully with fresh, flavorful vegetables. To finish, I had the crème brûlée, and it exceeded my expectations. In a word, Wonderful! Thanksgiving plans changed at the last minute. Yelp indicated Ladera was open so we thought we would give it a try. They had a traditional Thanksgiving dinner special. Always our favorite Morgan Hill dining experience. We try to always ask for our favorite server Alfredo. He is attentive, welcoming and pays attention to customer needs.
