Wow, this place has really gone down "hill". We were in town this weekend for our high school reunion and one of the goals of the event was to stop in to the major MH staple bars. We had a great time the The Tav, Running Shops and Sinaloa, and I'm actually mad at myself for paying the $5 it cost to get into The Hill that night. We brought a crowd of 100 people eager to patronize the bar. Most of our class left when they found the bar literally at 0 capacity and wanted to charge all of us $5. That's the bar's prerogative to charge, but I should've taken note like the rest of the group and left before paying myself. The staff is almost all security guards wearing bulletproof vests. Unfriendly as they can possibly be. Getting in to this bar was a more in-depth process than going through TSA. As folks who have been visiting from out of town, we asked several of the security guards and bartenders what had happened that made security so intense. They kept saying things like "The other local bars don't care about your safety" and that "there is an alarming uptick in local crime and you're the safest here". Honestly, the staff made me feel very unsafe between their demeanor and protective gear. They say there's a problem with gang activity, and somehow they're the only bar dealing with it. Sounds like it might be time to reflect on the ambiance they're creating instead of punishing the community who wants to enjoy this place. OH and there was no air conditioning. It was 100 degrees this weekend. It was probably 90% humidity in this place. I think this place needs a major makeover. If you're the only bar in town that offers a real night life feel, you DO have a responsibility to keep people safe, but that includes them feeling safe around your staff. I don't think there's much left to redeem The Hill. RIP to what used to be a fun local spot. read more

This place has potential and I will come here again. My rating for now is 3.5 stars. We decided to check The Hill out on a Friday night and were pleasantly surprised that they were going to have a live band. They have a trendy vibe going on in here with several high top tables, bar seating and an upstairs area with couches and an over sized jenga game. The major negative was that it was super hot inside. They were clearly not running the AC and it was a bit uncomfortable but the vibe was okay and the music was pretty good so we stayed. There were a few people dancing but mostly just listening to the music and / or watching the hockey playoffs and Giants game. The staff was very friendly and our server checked on us several times. We came around 8:30pm and were advised to place our food order because the kitchen closes at 9pm. We split the ceviche tostadas. These were just okay, I thought the portion size needed to be adjusted or the tostadas should be served on the side because it was a bit difficult to eat. My husband had a few beers and I got a gin and tonic. The drinks were priced okay and it was a nice Friday night. They have a small draft beer selection and wine list. But they have slurry drinks which I hear are very good and on the strong side. However, I am not one for really sweet drinks so I opted for something basic. Overall, it was fun. The crowd was very mixed with people from their mid 20's to mid 50's with a combination of singles and couples. We enjoyed just hanging out and relaxing. We will give them another shot and try something else to snack on next time. read more

This place discriminates. Initially, I was told I couldn't go in because my shoes were "too red" (see pic) so I went to a car to change them. Than when we tried again they said my friend was wearing too much sports material & all he had on was a black Jordan shirt similar to the one in the pic provided. Meanwhile during all this, a woman wearing all red to the heels was allowed in & a man in a baseball jersey, who was standing behind us, was allowed in. Safe to say this place didn't want our type of people in, whatever that may be, they didn't like how we looked which was obvious because people in similar clothing were allowed in right in front of us. TL;DR: Nicely priced drinks, special entertainment days. I like this place they have a good assortment of entertainment. One day is football, one day is line dancing, and another day is salsa lessons. Full Bar with reasonably priced drinks. This place is worth a look if you come to the area. read more

Security was very relaxed when we went and the DJ kept it a fun vibe but the bar itself is dinghy and rundown and the service was spotty. The two females working Saturday night we're doing a good job, but the male with the chains was awful and aggressive. Also don't expect much in the way of drinks. This establishment has tremendous potential.The vibe here is great.The music is on point and current.The bartenders were efficient even with big crowds.The owner was co-operative when it came to letting us rig up a laptop and take over one of his monitors for a slideshow that ran most of the night representing one of our friends for her birthday.Speaking of birthday the set up, dinner and surprise went off flawlessly thanks to The Hills staff and organization.The upstairs lounge part of this place was really chill and comfortable.The music hits hard in this part of the club as the speakers are beneath you.Oh and they have a giant Kings that was really fun. On to the food and drinks.Although we had our party catered I have a few of their $2 tacos.The Carne Asada Tacos were really good.The Pollo Asado were just okay.The tacos come with what looks to me as an orange sauce like you get at La Vics.Now the drinks were pretty darn good.The Morgan thrill was really good and taste like a kicked up slurpy.It shames the well known "Swirl"! Although I should've took 2 stars away I'm not going to let the unprofessionalism of the "Security Team" take away from the night I had.This security team has to be one of the most unprofessional security teams I've experienced.Upon arrival you can't tell who's security because their wearing hoodies, duck dynasty hats, ordering tacos while on the clock, texting on their phones while they all stand in a circle jerk.These guys are extremely rude as I noticed as patrons went out the side door to smoke there was this one oompa loompa of a security guard who would immediately slam the door shut practically hitting patrons exiting.These guys try to be bullies feeding off one another's antics but only come off as clowns.I personally would not let my wife come here for a ladies night for fear that if something happens that my wife or her friends wouldn't be able to make out security from a regular patron and that's worrisome.I also feel these guys wouldn't hesitate to throw game at your girl.Thats not an assumption as I saw that on a few occasions last night. My message to the owner and I met him last night and told him I was going to review his establishment is simple. Get rid of your security team and bring in a more professional group of security guards rhat know how to do their job the right way and are trained in that area.Although your team eventually donned their security shits those should be visual from the jump.These guys are pulling your establishment down and you have to make a business move over a personal move. Hell if these guys are your boys get them some training and set some standards and I think that will set a positive tone at your place.They look capable of doing their job if guidelines were set. This place was great before the new owners took over. Since then the place has gone "downhill." The security environment went from checking ID's to full on body pat-downs, because a lot of thugs now hangout there. Two weeks ago during the mushroom festival weekend there was a major incident in front of The Hill, where one person was stabbed three times. This incident started from inside. Stay away from this place. It's no longer a safe environment. I should also mention that the drinks are way over priced, twice as expensive as the Tavern across the street. This is not Vegas at $11-12 a drink, and Tito's is not top shelf vodka. read more

Was driving by and needed food - Gave this place a try, absolutely was not disappointed. The two gentlemen in the kitchen were awesome, down to earth and friendly; it was very easy to converse. For having never been there, and it being a Wednesday night, it was a decent sized crowd. I ordered the Berto Burger, Garlic & Parmesan Wings and a chicken Pincho. It was finger licking good! The burger looked home style, though it looked small - it was stacked tall, full of flavor and it definitely hit the spot! If I'm ever nearby again, I know where I'm eating! 3 stars. I came here with my gf and her family. We were taking out her newly 21 brother out for a drink. I was excited to go here and try their 'slurry.' When we walked in it was packed and their was no where to sit other than an oddly placed non-functional bar. It was right next to the stairs and no alcohol on the otherside. This made for a not great experience as it was difficult to talk to the person at the other end due to volume people and music. At least the music they were playing was good. Someone was having a party on the loft which slowed our service. The guy was nice, not his fault his manager didnt schedule enough servers. I ordered the Angry Mango a alcoholic spicy mango smoothie. The drink was alright, nothing to write home about. I ordered their greek salad. It was large and was very oniony. My gf mom didnt like her buffalo chicken sandwich so we traded plates. The sandwich was good, but again nothing noteworthy. Final thought: I would go back on a night where there isn't a birthday party. I want to try a few other slurries read more

I haven't been to The Hill in a few years so two friends and I decided to stop by after dinner. ID check was fine and security was polite. But then it got weird. Security made me empty my pockets and go get searched to the side. Right away, my intuition kicked in that something is off. I emptied my pockets but didn't actually go get searched because they wouldn't let me in anyway since I was wearing a red Lacoste polo shirt. A red shirt. It's a color. But apparently, it's a gang color. If that's the rule, so be it. But they shouldn't have photos of their staff wearing red shirts and then turn people away. read more

Where do I start. ??? It took 30 min to get a drink. The women's restroom was out of service. I was there for a birthday party and that wasn't enough to keep me . I left as soon as the second stall in the women's restroom went under. At first it was 1 stall out of the two that was out of order. Then the women were instructed to other establishments to use the restroom. I provided a video of 6 people behind the bar and one particular person waiting for a drink. I went to this place as a go to spot to have a few drinks with my wife last week and security told me I couldn't go in because no red was allowed, I had on red and black tennis shoes that went with my fashion and I'm far from looking like a gang banger. my wife then pointed out to security that there was a guy inside with red shoes on that she could see and security sarcastically replied well he's the owner he can wear what he wants too. I don't know who these people think they are but the patrons are the people that keep these establishments open and they treated us with disrespect, that being said they just lost any business from me and I will definitely tell a friend this place has gone downhill in a nice city of Morgan hill. Was here this evening. I really dont drink like I used to(at all), but bought a friend of mine a drink. $10 for a simple drink ( whiskey/cola). Maybe no wonder were the only two here. Super fail. Nothing like being in a sports bar with the bar tender not caring at all. Sitting on one side of the bar, feet propped up eating food and playing her music on the big speakers while three customers interested in the hockey game wondering why they can not hear the game or get a drink. I had my daughters engagement party there yesterday and they served tacos, enchilada, rice, beans, chips and salsa. My guests had such a great time. The food was delicious, everyone raved about the margaritas. The owner and his wife did such a great job. I also went the night before to see the table set up and I couldn't believe how busy they were. There is an upstairs where there is a big Jenga blocks and you can here people having a good time up there. I read the previous yelps and they are right it is under new management so there is going to be some hiccups when a new owner takes over a business but if I were you go back and check it out and on Thursdays the bartender is Katie and she is so sweet and makes some awesome drinks and they are now serving hot appetizer foods like tacos, wings etc and Menudo on Saturdays and Sundays. read more

A nice establishment in Morgan Hill that gets you out of the house and go downtown. This is a great start to the communities changes with the up & coming new places to go. The owner has a intriguing menu from fried macaroni & cheese bites, bison burger ( not sure if on menu anymore), asian wings and more. The food quality has always impressed me. The ingredients are fresh and the twist of ingredients is great. its a good place to come hang out at the bar ( which is big) and watch a game and talk to the people. Its a small town friendly feel. I met the owners when it first came out and they are sweet young couple who work hard and have put alot into this place. He was a lead chef at Dell, and brought his skills with him! Came to check out the new hot spot in town and wasn't disappointed at all! Great atmosphere, amazing food, friendly and knowledgable staff really made the experience awesome. We wanted to watch the games the night we went, sat at the bar and had both the giants and sharks games on in front of me. Ordered the bison burger, and was a little nervous in trying the peach BBQ sauce, as I do not care for overly sweet sauces. It was amazing, and they make all of their sauces there! The burger was juicy, cooked to perfection, and absolutely delicious. Also had the Thai slurry per the suggestion of another patron. Again, not a fan of stuff that is too sweet, and it was perfect. Refreshing, cool, and those things pack a punch! Overall a wonderful dining experience. I look forward to going back and being able to check out the live music one of these nights. Came here Sunday with a friend for a little Sunday Funday! Definitely couldn't turn down one of the Hill's signature slurries. The ambiance was comfortable and the food was delicious. I had the Mac n cheese balls with a delicious smokey aioli and the chicken caesar flat bread. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming. I visited The Hill this past Sunday afternoon and loved it-- the owners introduced themselves and chatted for a while, which was nice and definitely not something that most bar owners do. The Slurrys are fun, but there are plenty of beer options if you are not into the sweetness of the Slurrys. Food was great too-- my girlfriend and I split the mac & cheese balls and the caesar flatbread. Will definitely be back...I am looking forward to watching many Sunday football games there-- they have a million TVs and the NFL Sunday Ticket so every game will be shown. Fun place. Tons of TVs. Friendly service. Slurrys are delicious and STRONG! Great atmosphere. GIant sized Jenga. Open late. Happy hour daily. Live music. Food: appetizers were decent. Fried Mac and Cheese was tasty. My wife liked the artichoke appetizer. The tamarind chicken wings were okay, but not very meaty. Like another reviewer mentioned, the hamburger meat was really good but the bun wasn't that great. They could use some more appetizer options like some sliders or garlic fries, etc. Overall: technically, I'd give this place a very solid 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding to 4 to give them the benefit of the doubt especially since they just opened. Atmosphere, service and Slurrys push them over the top. Great addition to Morgan Hill!! I'll definitely be back soon. Just wish they had more to offer in terms of food. read more
