I always forget that the Terrace at The Maybourne Beverly Hills is such a beautiful spot for a leisurely lunch, especially when you want that polished Beverly Hills feeling without anything feeling overly stiff. The setting is lush, elegant, and wonderfully peaceful, with the terrace overlooking the gardens and pool area. We randomly ended up here after being in the hot sun shopping Beverly Hills. Such a nice relief. We started with the bread, which was simple but delicious, then had the strawberry gazpacho, a refreshing and unexpected summer dish that felt light, bright, and beautifully presented. The corn agnolotti was a standout, rich and delicate with that perfect balance of sweetness from the corn and savory depth in the sauce. The bolognese was comforting and satisfying, a classic done well, and the Caesar salad was fresh, crisp, and but not presented as a traditional Caesar. It is two romaine wedges. We ended with the chocolate mousse and it was a lot of food. Maybe better to share as the portions are generous. The food, atmosphere, and service made it feel like a true Beverly Hills escape. Hmm... where do I start? I was interested in booking one of their private dining rooms, so I reached out well in advance. I have to say the communication leading up to the event was pretty disappointing. I sent emails, called multiple times, and often got no response. I eventually found out that only certain people handled private event bookings, but getting in touch with them was a challenge. Every time I called the hotel, I was told they had sent the events team a message. Even after I finally secured the reservation and paid the deposit, I still had questions that went unanswered. In fact, some of them weren't addressed until the night before the event, which was pretty stressful when you're trying to coordinate a special occasion. For a hotel that markets itself as a luxury 5-star property, I honestly expected much better communication and customer service. The booking process definitely did not feel like a 5-star experience. That said, once the day of the event arrived, everything went much more smoothly. The service during dinner was good, and the staff took care of us well. We had a prix fixe menu for our guests. I had the steak, which was cooked really well, and the tiramisu was a nice way to end the meal. Most importantly, everyone had a great time, which is what mattered in the end. One tip if you're planning to come here: there's an underground public parking garage right next to the hotel that's much cheaper than using the valet. Overall, the food and service on the day of the event helped make up for a lot of the frustration beforehand. As a near regular at this location, I expected more and was quite disappointed today, and am sorry I have to bring my review down so many notches. Service was slow, they assumed we wanted everything at once, and some of the food was subpar and definitely not on point. Because we asked for our "breads" after 30 minutes just to get started, they though we suddenly wanted everything (our breads being scones and a cinnamon roll). We should have stated or they should have asked, would you like us to bring everything out at once or the small plates first. First miss. Eggs Benedict was bland, under seasoned, and english muffins like two plastic frisbees. Second miss. Slow service and attitude of server not the friendliest, third miss. Table service was slow/inattentive. We had to ask for silverware on more than one occasion. Service seemed somewhat more disorganized than usual (it's usually a little disorganized, not always great). I enjoyed the overall experience having a lunch here on a beautiful day. I love that you can sit outside. We ubered here but the parking looks difficult; would recommend parking at the free Beverly Hills lots and walking over. The steak frites was okay, it was a little bit tough and even with the sauce it lacked flavor. The fries were also okay, but were too soft / large in my opinion... The servers were kind, but it was quite a slow experience. There is a public parking garage right next door if you want to try that first. Service is warm and friendly. Everyone was so nice, attentive and helpful. We were able to sit outside thanks to making reservations online the night before. It's a very relaxing, welcoming and intimate setting. Started with the complimentary monkey bread -- it is so soft and fluffy and the topping is pure deliciousness. I think it's the butterscotch topping that goes with their popular pancakes. The monkey bread was wonderful! Ordered the pancake with butterscotch and it does not disappoint. $ large, hot pancakes drenched in butterscotch and a nice big disk of butter. It also comes with maple syrup and more butter and 3 different types of jam. Very nice Got the Hobbs smoked pastrami which comes with 2 poached eggs. Very solid, hearty and filling breakfast. Wonderful sourdough toast, sauteed green and red peppers with red onions and generous slices of pastrami. Also comes with perfectly crisp baby potatoes - so good. Ordered the fruit platter as well and the pineapple was the sweetest of the fruits. The rest were less sweet and only ok as they are not really in season - raspberry, blackberry, blueberries, strawberries, apples, honeydew, watermelon and cantaloupe. Then again, you're essentially enjoying Beverly Cañon Gardens, which is a public park so you can enjoy the atmosphere without being a patron of the restaurant. 2. Staff is very professional and nice. I had breakfast at this restaurant and can confidently say it was one of the worst breakfast experiences in Los Angeles. We ordered the truffle eggs Benedict and the croque madame, and calling the meal disappointing would be an understatement. The presentation alone looked careless and unappetizing -- shocking for dishes at this price point. When you charge $40 for eggs Benedict, expectations naturally rise. One expects not only quality ingredients and flavor, but refinement and attention to detail. Instead, what arrived looked rushed and poorly executed. The croque madame was somehow even more baffling: the egg managed to be both undercooked and overcooked at the same time -- a culinary contradiction I didn't think was possible. The textures were off, the balance was unpleasant, and nothing on the plate justified the premium pricing. And to complete the experience, the restaurant automatically adds a 20% service charge to the bill, regardless of the quality of service or food. Our water glass arrived dirty, and when I asked for a clean one, the waiter brought a replacement, filled it with water, and then left it on the other side of the table where no one was even sitting instead of handing it to me. When we asked about options for kids, the waiter only mentioned chicken nuggets and French fries, despite the restaurant having a large menu with plenty of choices. It honestly felt like she had no knowledge of the menu at all. Throughout our visit, she barely paid attention while taking our order and seemed completely disengaged. The restaurant was only half full, yet we waited an unreasonably long time for our food. When it finally arrived, it tasted like something from a cheap café, not a restaurant charging premium prices. We had such a great experience at The Terrace at the Maybourne on Easter Sunday. It already felt special being there, but the service made it even better and really welcoming. They had the Easter bunny come to take photos with the kids and handed out eggs. Val was our server and was great, and Maya, who was helping her, was honestly amazing. We chose outside as it was a beautiful evening, and the seating area is situated in a green park-like area surrounded by trees. Our server David could not have been more professional, helpful or friendly. He answered all our questions about the menu and the cocktails and helped us decide what to order. Everything we had was outstanding. The beet salad was a work of art, with golden, red and rainbow beets beautifully presented along with dates and walnuts. The whole branzino was perfectly cooked with crispy skin, and served with a grilled lemon. The duck was some of the best we've had, not fatty or greasy but rather plump and meaty. The old fashioned cocktail was made with pandan, which is a SE Asian leaf. The pandan gave it a unique flavor. I love the use of unusual ingredients. I can't begin to tell you what an amazing and delicious brunch experience. We enjoyed yesterday at The Terrace. Every single item that we ordered was amazingly delicious. The most unique item on the menu is there rendition of hashbrowns, which were deliciously fried and mixed with quinoa amongst other ingredients. The butter itself is different from any other restaurant I've been to in Los Angeles. The gym is a special French Preserve that is unparalleled. First off the prices are very reasonable, in a man area where almost all the restaurant are $$$$. It is dog friendly. I brought my dog and they provided water bowl, bed and cookies for him! Parking was easy. Parking structure right nx to it provides 2 hour free parking during day time. Valet available as well. Friendly and attentive service. Good ambiance and gorgeous view. Nice outdoor seating. Branzino was delicious. Crispy skin with tender meat. And the tomato sauce on top was amazing, super flavorful. Squid ink pasta was good with Thai Basil but the squid was a bit over cooked and chopped into tiny pieces. I also liked the truffle corn agnolotti as well. A little sweet with hint of truffle. The only dish I didn't enjoy was the smoked trout salad, the dressing was a bit overwhelming. AMAZING AFTERNOON TEA EXPERIENCE! My friend hosted a gathering last week, and we had the Afternoon Tea experience at The Terrace. It's located at the Maybourne in Beverly Hills. The ambiance is very social, with views of the terrace. Our servers were kind and attentive. I've never attended a real tea event before, so I was excited! I ordered the lemongrass tea, which was yummy. I do wish I knew the best condiments to add to it, because I feel the honey I added didn't quite do it justice. Now let's get to the FOOD! I don't know where to start! I absolutely loved the presentation and taste of the pastries and sandwiches. The scones were delicious, with butter and jam to top. The sandwiches were delectable, my favorite being the SMOKED SALMON followed by the Jidori Chicken salad! They were extremely delicious! The only one I was impartial to was the pea miso mousse. It felt like it was missing a sharp flavor, such as tomato, or cheddar. As for the tarts/pastries, they were ALL delectable! I will absolutely have to come back for this experience again! I had credits from my credit card and was able to dine at The Terrace. For lunch I ordered the scallops, truffle fries, and a non alcoholic espresso martini. The scallops were on the smaller portion size, but was so dang tasty. The truffles fries were out of this world and way too addictive. I was meh on the non alcoholic espresso martini and could have done without it. I also had breakfast here and you absolutely must get the huevos rancheros. Gosh, it was so delicious and the crisp from the tostada has my mouth watering. Their fruit is also really good and is peak ripeness.
