Post Birthday celebration with the girlies! We had a 6:45PM reservation on a Thursday, and there was a live band playing nearby, which definitely added to the atmosphere. It was a little loud, so we had to raise our voices to hear each other, but it still made the night fun and lively. The food was tasty and delicious, and we couldn't decide which dessert to order, so we ended up ordering the whole dessert menu! Definitely a fun way to celebrate. The only things I would mention are that the table felt a little small for four people, and we felt slightly rushed to finish our main course before 8:00 PM. I went to Baltaire to celebrate my birthday. Upon entry, the room was warm, elegant, and beautiful. The hostesses greeted us and took us to our seats and even said happy birthday which was a nice touch before leaving us. She even pulled out my seat! Juan was our server and he was amazing! The food though not so much. The seafood tower was good, but the only items truly good were the oysters and the lobster. The crab legs were extremely salty and the shrimp was overcooked. We didn't even finish it. For my entree, I got the Branzino. I took a bite and felt bones, but I didn't say anything because I had already complained about the shrimp. I took it home, tried to eat it, and THERE WERE MORE BONES. Juan did bring me a dessert for my birthday which was the butterscotch one. That was so delicious and it made me forget about the Branzino until I got home. Overall, I would not recommend this place for food but I would for drinks and for the service and ambiance. I've been to Baltaire a few times before but only for brunch, and this was the first time I have come by for dinner and it was absolutely incredible! On a limb, me and my girlfriends decided to have a Friday night out and steak and potatoes were what everyone was craving. All of us have had Voltaire on our radar for dinner and haven't been there before to indulge in their amazing steak options as well as side dishes On a Friday night it was definitely buzzing at the bar, and our reservation was at 6:30 p.m. but soon the restaurant started to fill with seated patrons. You ordered an array of the side dishes and two different steak options... And everything was absolutely delicious. The highlight items for me were the petite filet trio, loaded baked potato and the banana foster dessert. Voltaire has a corkage fee which was really kind, and one of our friends brought a very rare vintage wine to pair with dinner but we also ordered a couple rounds of cocktails which all of those were also another way to make the dinner unforgettable. The ambiance was romantic, moody, and yet had a really lively atmosphere with other groups of folks as well as people on date nights. Service was attentive, friendly and extremely professional. Unfortunately, the service was noticeably subpar and did not match the level I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. In fact, the service we received from the busser and food runner was noticeably better than that of our server. They were more attentive and helpful throughout the meal. Even more disappointing, there were a handful of flies around our table throughout the meal, which made it difficult to fully enjoy the experience. Having flies repeatedly around the table is particularly concerning for a restaurant positioning itself as a luxury dining destination. For a restaurant at this price point, I expected a much higher level of service, attention to detail, and overall dining environment. We were seated inside in the upper area, which I actually preferred to the area on the left. Service was also impeccable. We were even given small frozen Paloma shots to start! You get SO MUCH FOOD. The $89 prix fixe includes a large variety of starters and your choice of an entree. We also added on caviar bumps and I did the Bloody Mary cart (how could I not?). The Bloody Mary was delicious, so were all of the starters, especially the salmon and zucchini bread. And the caviar bumps were amazing! I got French toast as my main - it was good, but not my favorite. It was a little too eggy for me. The only thing we missed was the cinnamon roll cart. Waiters and servers were so attentive and lovely. However, the food was a let down surprisingly! I got the prime filet Benedict. The quality was great, but the flavor was lacking. I've never asked for salt to sprinkle on my food but I needed it for this. The potatoes and steak were cooked well but didn't have any taste. My husband got the crab salad, lots of crab, but not great. He also had a few crab peelings in it which was surprising and could have been dangerous. We ordered the deviled eggs off menu which was so whatever. For $30 I expected more than 3 deviled eggs. My family tried other dishes and no one was wowed. We also ordered the cinnamon roll at the end and it was dry and tasted a bit old. The frosting was delicious though. Also there should be a dress code. Like is it formal or casual? Saw a post for Baltaire on social media and knew I had to go with my girlfriends once I saw good champagne and cavier (my love language). Parking was a nightmare, I would say opt to valet if you can. Finding a spot nearby that isn't $40 without a validation is unheard of and street parking availability is rare. Ambiance is so clean and nice and service was great. We then wanted the whole experience so we ordered the bloody mary and cinnamon roll carts as well (additional charges). I went to the DJ brunch on a Saturday. The music that the DJ played was chill and I enjoyed it. I liked the Baltaire Mimosa and the French toast. The appetizers they brought out were good as well. However, I didn't like the chilaquiles. Only the steak portion of it was good, but the tortillas were terrible. I've been to Mexico City, and have had this dish numerous times for breakfast. The tortilla texture was completely soggy as opposed to slightly crunchy, which is how this Mexican dish should traditionally be served. Avoid the chilaquiles here. The service was great. read more

This was my first time having dinner at Baltaire. The restaurant is gorgeous. A little too dark for my liking because it was difficult to read the menu, but the review is not on the esthetics rather on the food. As a starter we went with the Bluefin Toro Crispy Rice. The crispy rice was good but nothing exceptional. The bluefin toro was a bit on the fishy side. It was my least favorite dish. We selected this dish because it was recommended by our server. At $45 for 4 tiny pieces I was expecting a little bit more flavor. This dish was not at all memorable. I would highly recommend skipping it. Another dish I would recommend skipping is the Greek Salad which is prepared table side. Nothing exceptional about this dish either. Although everything tasted fresh and crunchy there was something missing. Perhaps protein or revamping the dressing. Next we moved onto the French Onion Soup. This was delicious. The melted cheese was perfectly crisp, the caramelized onions and broth were melt in your mouth heavenly. For the main course we went with the Chilean Sea Bass and the Maine Lobster Risotto. The sea bass was about the size of the palm of your hand. It was not dry but it was another dish lacking flavor. The baby bok choy was really the star of this dish. It was fresh and flavorful but at $61, I was expecting elevated flavor. The Maine Lobster Risotto was fluffy, delicious and not at all heavy. A bit more lobster would have been great, but that's just me. We ended the night with a plate of beignets. And this is where the kitchen shinned. The beignets were fluffy, not sweet and perfectly dusted with sugar. The staff was friendly and professional, and the restaurant was nice and clean. For that reason alone I might consider coming back but for brunch. I've read several reviews that this is where they shine. read more

I suggested going to Baltaire Sunday brunch for my 71st Birthday celebration and was not impressed. For this to be an upscale restaurant people came in shorts, flip flops, tennis shoes. I felt out of place, I followed the dress code. they seated us in the back where there was no air conditioning, no windows to open made it hard to enjoy the experience I had the omelette, was minus the lobster. Not impressed. The other guest apparently wasn't impressed with their meals either from what was left on their plates. The pre fixed menu came with several appetizers for the table and they were all fine. We ordered a caviar bump too, but I wished our waiter brought it at the time of the appetizers and j it before, because they later brought all the accouterments for the caviar. It took about 30 mins after we were done with our appetizers to get the mains. The actual entrees were fine. The burger was way way too salty. I got the crab salad and there wasn't a whole lot of flavor to it. The prime Benedict was delicious though. It took about another 30 mins after we finished eating for our cinnamon roll to come out. It came in a cute cart just as our champagne and Bloody Mary did. I thought the cinnamon roll was just ok but nothing special. We had dinner at Baltaire last night with another couple to celebrate our anniversary and a birthday. We were seated promptly at our reservation time. I always marvel at how pretty Baltaire is inside. The bar was jam-packed with people and the live music made it so loud that we were basically screaming across the table to each other. I seriously felt like I was getting laryngitis when we left. Other than that, the rest of our experience was A+. We started with Belvedere Martinis which were freezing cold, strong, and accompanied by tons of blue cheese and regular olives. We enjoyed the hot bread and salted butter before our salads and soup arrived. One of us had the French Onion Soup with aged Comte and parmigiano reggiano and it was delicious! Two of us had the Little Gem Caesar with olive oil dressing and parmigiano reggiano. We also had the Organic Iceberg Wedge Salad with Chino Valley egg, bacon lardons, red onion., and blue cheese with a yummy blue cheese dressing. From the raw bar, we had the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail with the horseradish signature cocktail sauce which was 3 very large, plump shrimp. We enjoyed the Pan-Roasted Salmon with English Pea Risotto, and a citrus beurre blanc. Two of us had the Broiled Sonoma Lamb Chops with Chimichurri. Unfortunately, we had to send back the Half Roasted Mary's Chicken because it was incredibly dry. Our server was very accommodating about this. We also enjoyed the Onion Ring Tower with Tahini Ranch and Parmigiano and the Brussels Sprouts with Thai Chili and peanuts.
