The food is always great. I get the Pla Lad Prik very often, on the expensive side but fantastic with the spicy sauce. It's a whole fish, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, coming with the sauce separately. Mango and sticky rice is great, any my daughter adores their Pad Thai. I've been coming here for 10+ years and this was our go to spot for Thai food. We would bring everyone that visiting us because it was THAT GOOD. I'm leaving a 2 star review now because the last few times we've ordered, the food has been out of control spicy. We order a max of 2-3 stars(level of spice) and the lately the food is so spicy, it's inedible. I called the restaurant to tell them that I couldn't finish my entree because of the level of spice. The woman who answered said she couldn't control the level of spice bc of the chilies they have and there was nothing she could do for me. So why do you offer a spice level from 1-5 if you can't control how spicy the food comes out? We spent $60 on this meal, 4 entrees and 2 orders of spring rolls and unfortunately I don't think we'll be back, we'll check out Thai kitchen at Prince Rodgers. read more

Respectably spicy food, this no-nonsense strip-mall restaurant serves Thai standards to an enormous lunch crowd astonishingly quickly. Forget conversation, the room is very noisy. My order of seafood noodles from the chefs special lunch menu, not to be confused with the ordinary lunch menu LOL, looked like spaghetti in red sauce, included a good amount of vegetables and protein with solid medium-plus heat level, great meal for $10. Soup at lunch is an extra $6, very generous portion, wish they offered a cup-sized portion bcos the Tom Yum sounded really, uh, yummy. Our waiter insisted on speaking bad Hindi to my fellow diners who appeared Indian, that was just weird. Got takeout the other night and food was top notch plus the owners are very friendly. I ordered pra raam which is spicy peanut curry with whatever protein you choose and it's my new favorite with the perfect level of spice. Word to the wise they close from 3-5 during the week so it will look like the place is closed but it's not. read more

What can I say about this place? Well it's the best Thai food I have ever had as is for my fiancée. This is our go to Thai place to eat. I mostly get Pad kee maow. I'm not really that great with spicy foods so if you looking for a little kick I got for a 3 to be perfect where tots not burning. But a 2 is also good if you really can't handle spicy but the little kick does taste great. The Thai iced coffee is a must always a good addition to your dinner meal. Plus the spring rolls are pretty good as well it come with three. But they are so good you will want to get two orders so be careful they are good. The ambiance is nice and definitely a romantic dinner type of place. The tables will give out a cozy feeling plus the restaurant it's self is pretty cozy. When you walk in make sure you let the from desk person know that you are there and put your name down as it can get very busy on the weekends at night. The restaurant does close from 3-5 most days because of there lunch break. But before then and after it's a must try. Plus there customer service is great it's always nice and quick with getting to you even in the busy nights. Great people, great food, and a great place altogether. Some of the best thai food I've had in new jersey. The moment you sit down they place a spring roll right in front of you. I ordered the Red curry with shrimp and it was just awesome (and came out so quickly!) . Great balance of pungent aromas and with the flavors coming through of the basil and coconut milk. I find that most curries usually are too milky or too oily, but that was not the case. I also got to try the pad thai from my friend and that was also amazing. I am not one to order this dish at thai places but it was so flavorful. Can't wait to go back to this place soon! Great spot for fast lunch because they serve the food so fast. read more

Stumbled upon this place while driving to my boyfriend's with a craving for Thai. The staff there is extremely sweet. My bf thought I had placed an order for take out and I thought he did. When we got there, the lady at the front reassured me and placed my order right away. It came out in less than 10 minutes and was really delicious! We got the mango chicken, chicken pad Thai, Tom yum and Tom Kai soup. Really fair and decent prices for the portion, and they gave me the option of level of hotness (I chose mild of course cause spicy things make me cry). Good overall Thai food in the area. Service is prompt and food delicious. Papaya salad was extraordinary because of the tasty peanuts that were added with abundance. Beef satay was grilled nicely but the sauces lacked punch. Pad ka prow was swimming in sauce instead of a nice wok stir fry. Chef special whole fish with a chili sauce was delicious and tasted authentically thai near an ocean side restaurant with warm jasmine rice. I enjoyed every savory bite with the right balance of sour and sweet with a kick of heat. The peppers in this dish were so delicious. Pad Thai was amazing and definitely a must order. I don't know if I'm biased because I grew up on this place but it is by far my FAVORITE Thai place ever. I've tried all different thai from places in Binghamton,NY to Edgewater,NJ and I still consider this place my favorite. I don't know what it is but the flavor is so rich and it is cooked to perfection. I've tried a plethora of different dishes but one of my go to is Chicken Pad Thai. One thing I also like is that you can choose between spicy 1-5 and they put the spice into the meal. A lot of Thai places don't have this option and you have to ask for hot sauce on the side. Likely the best Thai food we've had in the area since Da's moved & became bland. Or maybe Thai Pin is our new favourite? Hmm. I dinged a star because they didn't believe me when we said HOT, as in 4 elephant hot (out of 5). When I asked for peppers, they provided sambal oelek, which isn't spicy, and then FINALLY brought crushed peppers, which made me glow a little while eating. (I should carry around a picture of my mother to prove that I did grow up eating really hot Asian food). Other dings: when you fill a restaurant, put people AROUND at different tables--not three tables next to one another in the back at the same time, as then the room looks better, the noise level grows at a moderate pace, and the servers get a balanced number of tables instead of server 1 getting 3 tables at once, then server 2 3 tables at once, etcetera. We were the second table seated at 12:30 on a Saturday, and the place was packed by the time we left. It's in the mall with Barnes & Noble, btw. Ok, now to the review: Service was sweet and prompt, glasses refilled regularly though we did need to request knives and replacement plates. If you are a table of 4 eating family style, request small plates to eat from--the table isn't large enough for 2 entrees and 4 dinner plates. Food: Fried duck coated in peanuts (first item?). This had a strong fish sauce smell, but was sweet & crunchy, perfectly fried, not at all chewy. Lots of raw red onions, my son's favourite. Pan fried dumplings, plate of 5. They're dumplings and dumplings are always fantastic unless you go to that one awful place that uses 1/2" thick wraps over a marble sized filling. So yes, these were perfect, tender, crunchy, & porky, with a mild dipping sauce of light soy sauce, ginger, black vinegar, chiles. Entrees were whole snapper & the seafood blend (31 & 35). We always choose sauce on the side for fried dishes, and didn't hear a complaint, unlike from the ogre at Rhong-Tiam. The fried fish was crispy a little difficult to eat until we received knives, but certainly yummy, perfectly fried, crispy, flavourful. Do beware of the bones, but you know that when eating whole fish. The sauce was a smoky red curry with bell peppers & onions, likely dried & crushed shrimp, oil of bergamot, peanuts. The seafood mix had one scallop and 3 shrimp, was mostly squid scored in a checkerboard shape so they'd curl up into horn shapes, mushrooms, bell peppers, onion, basil, curry leaves (like shorter & fatter bay leaves--don't eat). Really good food--we finished off everything but the bones. $75 before tip for 2 entrees, 2 apps, pot of tea. It doesn't appear they do lunch specials on the weekend. read more

We were a party of four. Had dinner in July 2023. On the plus side, the food was good. The reason for the two stars was a mandatory 18% tip imposed on us. The service was average and the server was not friendly and rather arrogant. Spoke to the manager. He claimed that the menu stated that the 18% tip is written on the memu for parties greater than three. I complained that tips are at the discretion of the customer and are not a requirement. I wanted to pay 15%. He wouldn't budge. Since the credit card was already charged, I decided to let it go and walked away telling him he lost a customer. He didn't care. Never going back. read more

But ever since my girl moved out of work to another company, there goes our Thai Kitchen II binge. ;) Anyways, we miss the darn place and my girl loves their salmon teriyaki special there. So we decided to drive 30 minutes to this thai restaurant that we used to love so much. It was only during lunch where the salmon teriyaki special was served, but when we got there at dinner time, the staff was nice enough to offer it to us. I had mango chicken dish with rice on the side. My girl had her famous salmon teriyaki w rice as well. What a night! It was like the good 'ole days! Staff was very attentive. We have been in this restaurant numerous times before and we've never had any issues. Our waitress was kind and accommodating. Me, my husband and 3 year old child came to have lunch. My daughter once in a while could not get her words out and get a bit frustrated or play around. We calmly were trying to remind her to be quiet and redirect her energy. Towards the end of our meal, an older woman who may be the owner, came up to my child and said, "SHOOOOOSH THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE!" In fear and shame my child whimpered that escalated to sobbing. I was embarrassed trying to calm her down as everyone looked at us in the restaurant. The woman immediately walked away as my child cried in shame. We paid our bill and still tipped generously mostly because the waitress was kind to us. On our way out, I stopped by the counter to have a word with the woman. Her register area has two tables that keeps customers from a distance to her. So i came up from the other side of the and said, "excuse maam, i didn't appreciate the way you treated my daughter. Shes just a child and you scared and shamed her into tears. Shes not being loud on purpose, she cant really help it." The woman got up closer to me and pulled her mask down and said, "this isn't your house and you should know better as a parent to teach your kid how to behave!" In shock, I felt every glaring eye of the customers from the dining area. I said "I'm sorry we have been doing our best to keep her quiet but she cannot help it. Shes just a child who doesn't know any better, why would you make her cry?! She has a speech delay maam!" The woman yelled and waved her arm and hand around in the air exclaiming , "I don't care! This isn't your house, teach your child how to be quiet!" As she began to make screaming noise mocking the sounds a 3 year old. I held back my tears and once again explained that my child cannot speak well. The woman waved her hand in the air motioning for me to leave. My husband too tried to defend us but the woman repeatedly said she didn't care. This is the worst treatment and public shame anyone has ever put us through. I hope that no one else goes through this again. We didn't intend to disturb other customers, although none of them paid any attention to us until that woman cornered us, made our child cry, and created a scene. She should be ashamed of herself and her lack of professionalism. read more

Stopped here for some dinner after our first attempt at another Thai restaurant failed because it was closed for the weekend. I was quite surprised how empty it was during dinner hours. There was some customers, but more came when we were close to finish. We had the Thai Ice Tea. I'm a sucker for this drink. I like this drink from any Thai restaurant. We also had some Tom Yum Koong Soup. You can pick the mildness of the soup from 1-5. I picked a 2. I liked the soup. Lots of vegetables and mushrooms. Good portions of shrimp. The soup had a tasty sour taste to it and a good level 2 mildness. It was a good mix of mild and sourness without one over powering the other. Our entrees was the Pad Kee Maow. Again you can pick the level of spice with this. I opted for 3 this time. Generous portions of rice noodles. Good ratio of chicken and shrimp. Plenty of vegetables. A good level of heat and spice. Good flavors with this noodle dish. Dinner service was quite fast here. Almost as fast as the road runner. Okay maybe not that fast, but good enough. I approve of this place. read more

My husband and I were here yesterday night. We love Thai food so we were excited to go to this place but was very disappointed with the place. We got a soup to share for appetizer and it was horrible. It was missing one of main Thai ingredient -Lemongrass. Then we ordered Penang curry and pad kee Mao as our entrees. 7/9/21 - The Thai (formerly Thai Kitchen II but the same owners) is in the Somerset Shopping Center. We used to dine in before Covid but now we do take out about once a month. We typically don't order anything other than Pad Thai or Pad See Eue which are always very good. The reason for the 3-star rating has nothing to do with the food but rather with pricing and the service staff. I took off one star because the online menu prices are incorrect. The Beef Pad Thai and Beef Pad See Eue (online $9.95 / actual menu $13.95) and the Chicken Pad See Eue (online $9.95 / actual menu $12.95). An accurate online menu is not too much to ask for. Attached are pictures of the current/actual menus for your reference. I also took off one star because the front desk woman was extremely abrupt/rude and has been on several occasions. Curry Puff was pretty good... are carrots and celery normal for curry puffs? Too many carrots. The cucumber relish was very good. Tom Yum soup was very disappointing- missing the tang and had bell peppers in it?? WHY?? I worked down the block from Thai Kitchen II (The Thai) for many years and used to eat there frequently. It has been over 2 years since changing jobs and I have been craving their Mee Siam. Tonight I decided to take the drive (over an hour) for takeout. It did not disappoint! Their food is amazing. Solid spot for Thai food. Came here around 6:30pm on a Wednesday, wasn't too packed, was seated right away. Although I have to mention, the sign on the outside said "The Thai", not sure if that's a mistake or...? Anyways, my group ordered the Thai Iced Teas, Pad Kee Maow, Mee Siam, and Duck Noodles. I thought the Thai Iced Tea was tasty, it's your basic Thai Iced Tea, nothing really too outstanding to mention. I ordered the Pad Kee Maow and wow, I was surprised at how big the portion was. It definitely left me stuffed with some leftovers to take home. The dish itself is made from stir fried broad rice noodles, chicken, shrimp, Thai basil, onions, mushrooms, bell peppers, mixed in hot and chili spicy sauce. It was very scrumptious and flavorful, I love the use of basils in the dish, it makes the dish very fragrant. FYI, you can tell them the level of spiciness you prefer on a scale of 1-5, 1 being the least and 5 being the spiciest. I ordered a spicy level of 3 and I thought it was decent, I wasn't dying from the spiciness but it wasn't mild as well. There was definitely a kick to it and I usually like to eat spicy food. Overall, a great place for Thai food. I didn't have any issues with the service and the food came out quickly. It was A rainy and cold Memorial Day so we decided to eat lunch out. Called my favorite regular place but they were all closed. Being that I was out of options and this was the only place open we decided to come here. I've eaten in maybe once and have gotten taken out once before and wasn't too crazy about this place. We walked in and the "hostess" asked us how many, led us to the back and threw the menu on a random table and I had to ask here? She then grunted and walked away. I just had a disturbing experience at this place. I had called from where I get my hair cut to order food to take back home with me. When I did, all of a sudden, the woman who took the call accused me of not having paid the last time. This was completely untrue because I had paid. A few months ago, I had ordered food to pick up on my way home and, when I arrived, the food had not been ready. Someone at the front desk wanted me to be beforehand, so I paid in cash. I did not think to get a receipt. While I was waiting for my food, personnel changed at the front desk and the new person asked me to pay. I truthfully stated that I had already paid. That person was at first not believing me, but finally believed me and yes, I had paid. Anyway, I got my food and left. Well, tonight, when I ordered food over the phone, I was accused of not having paid. This was wrong, because I had paid. I had paid in cash because I had not ordered that much food and, for an amount less than $20, I am likely to pay in cash rather than use the card. I stated that I had paid, but the woman on the phone accused me of not having paid. This is completely wrong. I am sad because I had really liked the food there, however, I will not tolerate being wrongly accused of theft. read more

How was my dinner ? Relaxing and flavorful. One of the best Thai places I've tried. At first the entrance is nicely decorated in a Thai fashion, the service is quite friendly and professional. I started of with the calamari rings which are small for my likes but really crispy and delicious, they come with a sweet and sour sauce that I kept for later. Then I ordered duck noodles, I've never tried duck before but it was good. The noddles are pan fried with scallions onions and peppers and of course duck. The flavor are perfectly balanced.
