This place is PURE MAGIC. First let me just compliment the tremendous staff. Each person was so warm, welcoming, and attentive that I instantly felt safe and at home. Vanessa does an impressive job vetting the people who provide for and represent this business. I would give TEN STARS if I could. Not to mention the amount of care and curation that goes into the design of this space. No detail is spared. I truly felt transported from DTLA to a gorgeous healing oasis. As for the treatments, I got three, each better than the last. I've never had acupuncture in my life but after today I am a believer. Daphne is so gentle and listens to all your concerns. Very relaxing and enjoyable. The next was a customized facial. It might be dramatic of me to say this, but I think this facial changed my life. Jetzy gave me the most gentle but at the same time the most effective facial I've ever had. My skin is BANGIN. The third was a treatment for skin tag removal. Josie is so sweet and makes sure she does what's best for you and your situation. Quick, easy, not too painful, and I can't wait to see the results. I'm sorry, but Vanessa act like her s*it don't stink. I have seen her once and the results of her Botox/filler were pretty good - a few lumps but hardly noticeable. I try to make a followup appointment but the next one they have for Vanessa isn't for 8 months. Fine - but when the appointment rolls around, I get a cold and mind you, it's early on during Covid pandemic so I cancel until I get my Covid results back -- you would think that would be the right thing to do, right? Well, the gracious girls at The Things We Do - They reschedule me for another 8 months away. I take the appt because I figure during Covid, I don't really want to go in often anyways. Now my appointment rolls around and one week before my appointment, I get an email that Vanessa is no longer seeing patients she hasn't seen in a year and I have to book with one of her other injectors. This is totally unprofessional. There are many great injectors -- physicians, nurse practitioners -- they have much higher professional standards and practices. Nurse Janet G. Is THE. BEST. I saw her today bc I wanted my dark eye circles/bags gone. With her extensive knowledge & expertise, she was able to transform my delicate eye area with the most gentle touch. I barely felt A THING! I also wanted to do something to slim out my jaw area which has been affected by my teeth grinding habit, for which Janet also did some Botox. That was even less "pain" (if you can even call it that) than the eye area! Janet will listen intently to your concerns, advise you thoroughly (never pressures you to do anything, ever) while putting your worries at ease, & enhance your face like you should've been born with it in the first place. I love this super cute boutique beauty bar! I received two of their services. Acupuncture with Daphne who is really sweet and calming. She asked me a few questions about what brought me in and what I was trying to achieve. She made me feel very comfortable and after awhile I felt like I was speaking to a close friend. I've been following Vanessa Lee for quite a while on Instagram. I was quite excited when I found out she opened her own shop. Luckily I was able to book an appointment with Vanessa herself (haven't seen her yet - appointment is in April 2019). However, I did recently get to have a facial with Aziel Rodgers and it was the best facial ever. Aziel took her time to really treating me and she really took her time doing the extractions. I often feel that when I get facials the esthetician will not really do a thorough job of the extractions, but not with Aziel. She explained everything she was doing and the purpose of it. What a lovely, LOVELY spa! The Things We Do just opened up in an ultra cool and hip location of DTLA. From the moment I walked in I felt super chic in its très chic lobby. The staff was very friendly and on this day I had a "Sacred Facial" by Aziel. My "Sacred Facial" was sacred, indeed! Aziel did a phenomenal job and made me feel very relaxed during the treatment. i've never left a bad review in my life but i've also never left a place so insulted and embarrassed in my life. they refused to treat me with filler (not botox) after writing up a treatment plan because i divulged i'm untrusting of botox because i had it injected into my masseter muscle for TMJ and headaches and the injector messed up, injected incorrectly, and gave me bell's palsy for three months. more than a decade ago. i only shared this because i have an incredibly slight palsy that has never, ever impacted my health or quality of life. this was caused by trauma i experienced as an infant. it is in no way neurological. i've had countless treatments, filler, invasive facials, and two facial surgeries. i've never had a doctor or surgeon suggest i "visit a neurologist" but the folks at the things we do demanded i get a note from my neurologist -- IMPLYING THERE MIGHT BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME -- before they can treat me. i do not have a neurologist. i do not need a neurologist. i do not have a nervous system disorder. i'm in perfectly good health and i've never had a reaction to ANYTHING outside of an INJECTOR distributing botox incorrectly when i was 22 for non cosmetic reasons. the entire experience was absolutely humiliating, insulting, and i left crying and i'm sitting in my car crying writing the first bad review i've ever left a company, literally ever. maybe they'll comment on this bad review with one of those half-assed explanations i see in reviews but there is no reasoning behind humiliating someone and implying there might be something wrong with them by suggesting seeing a neurologist or getting a note from my primary doctor, then having literally no answer when i asked "what would i even ask them?!" I DON'T HAVE NOR HAVE EVER BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH A MEDICAL CONDITION. i cannot stress enough how hurtful and stress-inducing this experience was. i want to emphasize i did not care that i could not be treated with filler that day nor did i care about the $125 deposit i put down -- i cared that i was told to see a neurologist like it was a completely normal thing to say to someone. read more

I've been meaning to schedule a facial here for months and I'm so glad I finally did. I had a Heritage Facial with Aziel, and she is AMAZING. My skin is generally in good shape, but there are some small areas that have been bothering me for years. Usually, estheticians will take a look at my skin and dismiss my concerns or spend two seconds on those areas and move on - not Aziel. She closely inspected every square centimeter of my face and spent major time on the areas that were troubling me. Parking is easy and free (with validation so bring your ticket) in The Row parking structure off Center St. The spa location is right next to the parking structure which makes it super convenient and easy to find. Upon walking inside I was met by the receptionist. Even though she was on the phone, she greeted me with a friendly smile and motioned for me to have a seat in the chic waiting area. With the long flowing curtains and the relaxing vibe the ambience truly transports you to a spa in the islands. Shortly after I had a seat, the receptionist came over and apologized for being on the phone and I checked in. Not long after checking in I was brought back to a room. Josie came in and we discussed my treatment plan and options. The procedure was easy and painless and Josie was amazing. (I've waited to write this until after my results and I can say that Josie's work is exactly what I wanted. Her placement of the Botox took ten years off my face and I don't look frozen.) I hate to write this review but I think it's time... I started seeing Vanessa back in her Chino Hills days. I'd make the trek from LA to see her. She was lovely and gentle. Her scheduling was relatively easy. She then left to a spot in West Hollywood. Her prices went up and the waiting list was ridiculous because I was considered a new client since I never been to that facility. I sucked it up and scheduled the soonest appointment, 7 months out. Whatever, I guess I'll look like a deflated potato until then. So literally 2 weeks before my appointment, I see she uploaded her departure on Instagram... umm what! So I contact the facility and sure enough she's gone. So via insta posts I'm instructed to contact her people. So I do... oh I forgot to mention, I referred Multiple friends to her and were All waiting for that appointment. So at this point we send an email to her people. Looks like we have to wait another month 1/2 to go see her on top of the 7 months we already waited. Great. I finally cancel because I'm so annoyed at this point. Her scheduling is difficult. Her prices skyrocketed. I'm assuming you can only get services from her if you're an influencer at this point. Oh yeah, let's not forget all the free marketing she got from her long time customers who allowed her to post our pics but we can't get an appointment!! Ugh makes me so sad! Story is not over... so one of my friends that decided to put up with the scheduling issues asked me to go with her to her first appointment.I love this stuff so I happily agreed. Again, Vanessa's people got back to my friend and her schedule was so difficult to work with- like only two days and all right smack in the middle of work hours.So my friend and I took a half day from work drove to her temp location and hoped for the best. Well, Vanessa made us wait over 50 minutes past the appointment time. At this point, I was angry. My friend had waited months to see you and took time off from work to make us wait for almost an hour! She then rushed the appointment because she clearly wanted to go home and this was my friends first time with injections. I was embarrassed that I referred her at this point. So Vanessa told my friend she'd need another syringe, which is 100% accurate. My friend voiced that her scheduling was difficult and asked how to go about the second appointment. Vanessa assured us it would be easier now that she's seen her. We believed her- foolishly. That second appointment took weeks to get ahold of someone and months to finally happen. Vanessa ended up canceling day of that second appointment. Needless to say, I'll never refer anyone again. Maybe if we were Instagram famous we'd receive better treatment. Way to take care of people that supported you before social media fame. To conclude, you can get amazing injections elsewhere. Don't fall into her Instagram trap. It's not worth it. I've had the best experience at the things we do. Mary's facials are so relaxing and my skin always looks incredible when I leave and for weeks after. I also get Botox administered here and their nurses are so educated and skilled at what they do. I recently visited to The Things We Do for a consultation. I couldn't get booked with Vanessa (although I've been her patient many times in the past) but I was seen by one of her "highly trained injectors" I went in asking about my lips and how I can achieve the shape I wanted (which was my shape but better) I walked out of the appointment thinking my lips looked a little rehydrated. A couple weeks passed and I'm noticing lumps in my lips.. not an allergic reaction..but ugly little lumps where the "highly trained injector" fucked up on the placement of juvederm. You can see where the filler starts and ends on my lips.. horrible! You definitely don't see these "Before and Afters" on their Instagram! No f*cking wonder they repost the same people all the time. At least I didn't come out looking like Desi Perkins..who also visits The Things We Do. Also while using their restroom I noticed that their toilet was completely pissed on and their "aesthetic" hand drying towels had blood stains on them. Why can't they just use normal paper towels? Came here to see Nurse Janet and had the best experience here! Had gone in to get filler in my smile lines and Nurse Janet was amazing. We had a consultation beforehand where we talked about potential treatments I wanted to do- and she was not only extremely knowledgeable and informative, but she REALLY cares to make sure you're getting the right treatment for you and your face type. The treatment was virtually painless- maybe a 2 on a scale of 1-10. She is such a kind and talented person and I highly recommend going to her. Couldn't be happier with my results. Also, the entire staff in this business are great- so kind and helpful all around. You don't get the sterile / cold environment that you can get from other medical type spas.
