Love this place. Good people. Good prices. Great place to have a cold one and watch a packers game. Nice new deck out side to have a smoke.

Lots of people, particularly in the warm months when high schoolers are hanging out at DQ. This unassuming neighborhood pub is much larger inside, and more popular, than you would expect just driving by. There are tons of tvs showing every possible sporting event and a packed house - I seem to always get the last available table. It has a townie vibe, with the dim lighting, nightly specials, an excellent Friday Fish Fry (with the option of potato pancakes - SO GOOD), and delicious burgers. No Coors on tap here but they have Stella (woohoo!). Despite living near this pub since 2010, I've only recently discovered how good the food was here. Overall, it reminds me of a "grown up" mini BBC (the beloved gone-but-never-forgotten North Ave establishment) with better food. Definitely worth checking out if you are hungry and in the area!

Date of visit: July 2, 2026…read more I came here with a friend after her daughter raved about it and it was overall a nice meal. The restaurant is slightly awkward in its layout, with a small dining area and a bar in the front plus a larger dining area in the rear. We were promptly greeted by the bartender and given a larger than necessary table--though it did let us spread out a bit so I wasn't too worried about it. We could not see how busy the rest of the restaurant was but we imagined it was fairly steady given the wait. Since we had not seen each other in a while the time passed easily and we didn't mind the wait. Staff was all nice and friendly and ensured that our water glasses were kept full. My Kickin' Bourbon Burger was pretty good, though the tots on the side were a bit underwhelming in terms of portion. Meanwhile my friend's portion of chips was taking over her plate and we were both looking for a bit more moderation in our side items! If you wanted something spicy, this is not the one! That was good for me but may not be what you were looking for. I thought it odd that I wasn't asked for what temperature I wanted my burger and probably would have appreciated it a tad less done than what I received, but overall it was a pretty decent burger. The bourbon sauce was tangy without being too sharp and the pretzel bun was good, if a bit manhandled in appearance.

A reply would have been respectful and could have helped me understand why food was horrible. First I'd like to say setting up reservation for Easter, service and the restaurant-bar was great. We had expectations of a menu because there was no advertising about a buffet. When we called and made reservations nothing was said about a buffet at all. So the 4 of us were disappointed. I would normally go straight to yelp and put a review in, but I thought I'd contact you with my concerns first and see your reply because mistakes do happen. The buffet itself was very disappointing. Salty over crisp bacon, tough overcooked prime rib, desserts tasted like they had freezer burn, chicken was dry, shrimp were warm and selection for 30 dollars was ridiculous. I do have to say the Bloody Marys, coffee, potatoes were good. Our waitress was fantastic and I was impressed with how clean everything was. The fact that we made special plans for Easter and had a friend in town from California we wanted to take her somewhere special really upset me. She actually told the waitress not to waste the overcooked beef she couldn't eat, but to give to someone's dog so it didn't go to waste. I've done bigger buffets myself and prime rib could have been sliced at omelet station. I will leave it at that. Thank you for reading and I hope you take this in consideration because you have a fantastic establishment with an awesome view with great staff.

Date of visit: April 23, 2026…read more I lived down the street from Jo's Cafe for decades, but didn't ever visit until I didn't--funny how that works. My mom remembers coming here when she was young, before she had kids, and that they used to bake their own bread and you could smell the fresh bread a block away. Jo was short for Josephine, who ran the place. She was pretty sure that Jo has since passed away. Despite Jo's passing, the cafe lives on with the same name, but seems to have fallen off from its glory days. I went with the Biscuits and gravy given the fresh bread, but then I saw the cook bring out a bag of pre-made biscuits and knew that things were not the same. That being said, the gravy was actually pretty good if the biscuit wasn't really warm or particularly memorable. My eggs were not fully cooked and as such, I really just ate the cheese. Coffee was pretty meh and only the bare bones creamers were available, plus only plain table sugar as an option to sweeten the brew. Mom really enjoyed her meat lover's omelet and will definitely have some leftovers for the next day! Service was okay, didn't love the waitress taking a phone call while refilling my coffee, and the prices were a bit high for the value. Initially I was bummed that I hadn't visited during its heyday, but then I realized that I would have been even more disappointed and overall it's better this way!
